Came here on a Tuesday afternoon when my favorite (Sushi Mori) was closed. Boy was I impressed. I called in my order to a friendly cashier and to my surprise it was done by the time I arrived there from Edison street. The prices here are *very* reasonable for the quality you get. I ordered the Two Rolls for $13 and got the Spicy Tuna and Unagi roll. The tuna was so fresh and delicious -- it didn't have that weird "fishy" taste or grainy texture. The Unagi roll was both savory and sweet, and loaded with cucumber and avocado. I requested having avocado on my Tuna roll as well and it was only an extra dollar, and they remembered it! The interior is gorgeous. Japanese minimalist style with hand drawn works of art was a nice touch. Will come back again to try their teriyaki! read more

The sushi is great, the service is great, but let me tell you, you have not lived until you have tried their Spicy tan tan ramen. It is the best ramen I have ever had, even better than top ramen spots in San Diego and Seattle than I've been to. I have had ramen in South Korea, and this is just as good. This is what real sushi is all about! Having to settle for years with mediocre sushi, Aki Sushi finally made it's debut in the TriCities and was welcomed with wide open arms. Even after a few months of operation, people are still lining up to dine in. The restaurant is small with just a few tables and a sushi bar. But it doesn't feel crowded when full. The wait staff are cheerful and courteous. The food is great. The seafood is fresh and the rice that comes with the sushi is cooked just right. The serving range from just right to generous, depending on the dish. I have gone back several times already and quality of food remains the same, even when they're busy. Came here for the first time last night and ordered the sashimi sushi entree, and followed by some spicy tuna rolls. I was seated at the bar as it was just me, which was fine, but it seemed small. Anyway, the sushi chef behind the counter quickly asked me what I wanted and began preparing my dinner right in front of me! Amazing to watch! The sushi was fresh and delicious, and the presentation was very creative. The wait staff seemed a bit confused, not realizing the sushi chef had taken my order and delivered my food. We are always on the hint for a good sushi restaurant or sushi bar. This one does not disappoint. Only open for dinner but with a happy hour (ish) from 430-535p nightly! Happy hour items include a few drinks, appetizers and rolls. They have quite a good selection of happy hour rolls. To be honest I haven't ordered anything off their normal menu yet because my husband and I have been trying everything on the happy hour menu. Definitely worth the stop. Little strip mall on the outside but super cute on the inside. The staff has been great so far and very attentive to clearing plates and getting drinks. We walked in and within 15 minutes the tables were full (only 7 tables) and 2 of the 6 chairs at the sushi bar were filled. They did so many take out orders while we were there as well. EXCELLENT!!! We had the black sea bass and scallop nigiri, sea steak roll, Alaska roll, the king salmon roll, Godzilla roll, miso, and shrimp tempura. For a split second I thought I was at Hamasaku in Santa Monica when I tasted the black sea bass, the sea steak roll and the scallop. Everything was very good but those three things were amazing. Good atmosphere and food, cream cheese was a little bitter. I do not think they refrigerate it or at least leave it out during the day, but otherwise great atmosphere, food, service and experience. Aki is our on the more expensive side fancy sushi dinner date. And they just added ramen! I always get the tiger blood roll, which sounds crazy but is amazing. Hubby likes a to get a yellowtail roll and a hot item. He's liked everything he's tried. He did the omakase once and liked everything he had (though he feels like for his appetite it's not enough food for the price to do it every time, but it's fun to do every once in a while). The curry katsu is amazing, tastes just like I remember it from Japan (admittedly it's been 15 years...) Highly recommend you try them! read more

If you are like me and just want ramen, keep expectations in check, this is a sushi restaurant first and by all accounts they are great at that. In terms of ramen, you can definitely tell the difference between a restaurant that specializes in ramen and one that has it on the menu. Absolutely fantastic place to eat! We stopped in on our way to The Gorge and we're beyond impressed! The sushi was some of the freshest fish I've had, certainly the best in long time! We had the Gyoza and the Jalapeño poppers to begin - both of which were good, but the gyoza were fantastic! We had the Paradise, Creamy masgo, and lion king rolls....the lion king was definitely our favorite however....hard to go wrong with a baked roll! This is BY FAR the very best sushi in the Tri-Cities. My boyfriend and I frequent this restaurant as often as possible, around 3 times a month. Special occasions such as anniversaries and birthdays are always celebrated here. The wait staff is continually very friendly and attentive. Although the prices are higher than you might see at other area sushi places, it is absolutely worth it for the quality of food you receive. The fish is ALWAYS fresh. The plating and presentation of their food is superior to anything else you can find in the Tri. My favorite rolls are the Tuxedo Roll and the Magic Roll. The fatty tuna (Otoro) may be the most expensive cut for sashimi or nigiri but it is TOTALLY worth the price. I've never had a more delicious piece of fish in my life. I had the jalapeño popper (stuffed with crab and cream cheese) which was the best I've ever had. Then I had the Miyano (6 nagara & 6 nigiri plus a salmon roll). Hands down probably some of the best Sushi ever! I might be ready to give a 5 star (never have yet) if after I return and check out some more menu items its the same or better!! This is literally the best sushi restaurant I have ever eaten at and definitely best in Tri-Cities, hands down. If you check my picture posts, I have tried over 6 rolls there and they were all amazing and left me craving more everytime. They have the best happy hour deals in town too and the only place I have been to that has supporo on tap and for only $2.75!! Fish is super fresh, the fusion from the chefs presentation, sauces and fish is next level compared to anything else I have had. Only down fall is it is small, can be hard to get a seat if you come after happy hour when most people eat, so expect a little wait. However, I have been comped a roll or edamame both times for this, so I was very satisfied. GO GO GO GO!! and GO GO GO again!! read more

I'm afraid that people aren't going to believe my reviews because the ones I leave are mostly (if not all) 5 stars. But that's because I'm more of a Yelp "viewer" not a Yelp "contributor". However, Aki Sushi (and the other 5 stars) totally deserve 5 star reviews. I went here with high hopes and a deep admiration for sushi and left with a full tummy and pure satisfaction. Aki Sushi has great atmosphere, excellent food, and amazing service. The employees were basically wizards. They knew exactly when to check-in without interrupting or leaving empty plates on the table for a long time. The food came to the table very quickly too. Oh! My favorite part - besides the sushi - was the free edamame. Soybeans are fairly cheap, so it just makes sense that it they would be free, not $4 a bowl like other places I've been. It was a great surprise. As for the actual sushi, I ordered the (fresh) Godzilla, the Sea Steak, and the Firestarter rolls. Firestarter and Sea Steak were both spicy, the Firestarter more so. The Godzilla was also soooo good! Not spicy though. Uhm, what else? I feel like I'm repeating myself at this point haha! Just eat here! It was totally worth the price! Was told by a coworker that this sushi spot was the freshest in the big TC, knowing that it's a desert and me being a San Diegan who knows that the freshest fish live minutes from the pad....I laughed at his face for spreading such false rumors. But needless to say I came solo-dolo to peep it out for myself. I was told that they get some of their fish flown in on Thursdays so obviously this was the day that I chose to partake. After being seated within 3.2 seconds I was confronted by a menu with many wonderful options. So for starters I kicked the ball off with the shrimp tempura app, which was Bomb Bomb! Huge shrimp, perfectly fried and just waiting to get devoured...which they did (RIP Shrimpies ). After discussing my options with the kind and funny waitress Leah who was patiently waiting for me to make up my mind...I decided to go with the fatty Tuna Sashimi....and believe me when I say that it is easily one of the best I've ever had in my life. This tasty treat was so amazing that after the first bite I zoned out...so much so that my girlfriend (whom I love with all my heart) was getting upset because she kept texting and texting me and I wasn't responding. But to be honest, in that exact moment, with a bite of fatty Tuna in my mouth, it was a no brainer....I was willing to lose my relationship if that's what it took to enjoy this bite of goodness which exploded in my mouth. All the plans I had with her (picket fence, kids, a dog ) were gonna be shattered if she didn't just let me enjoy my food without bothering this procedure....and I was okay with that. Minutes later I found myself just staring into the Abyss in amazement of what just happened....so yes I highly recommend this place!! Boyfriend and I went for lunch, We ordered 2 sashimi specials (for myself) and 2 rolls (for him). Sashimi came in minutes, I didn't touch it and waited for my bfs meal to be served (as to be polite). They brought the first roll about about 7-8 minutes after the sashimi. We both started eating, slowly, waiting for the last roll. We had completely finished eating, finished our drinks and water, stacked our plates because we got bored, then finally the last roll came (15 minutes later at least). It was pretty awkward to just be watching him eat when all the other food was gone and all the drinks were gone. No one offered to refill our drinks till we asked for the check. The rolls were okay, nothing to write home about and not worth waiting for. Meals should be served as a table, so the table can start and finish their meal together. This is common sense. read more
