I'm a fair person, the food was amazing; the service not so much. If you don't want people in your establishment or the establishment you work at then make that clear. Took my mother out for a late Mother's Day Lunch. (That's what she wanted, Thai food). Walked in, the server seemed a bit standoffish but I brushed it off. Ordered our food and drinks. My drink was a bit sweet so I asked for a glass of water. She brought one glass of water, not necessarily for the three people there, which I assumed was standard. Once food came out and requested for extra sauce were made there was also a twinge of attitude. I said nothing, I tipped $23 on a $117 bill. My brother mentioned in the car the server seemed to have an attitude so with that confirmation to my initial feeling I am here writing this review. read more

We were in Bristol checking out Mill St. There are a lot of good options to choose from in the area, but we decided on asian. This place has Chinese, Thai and Japanese on the menu. We decided to eat in. It was fairly quiet for a Saturday evening. The dining room is small with dark wood paneling. The server was very nice and very attentive. We ordered pork pan fried dumplings and sesame chicken. The dumplings were very good. They had a slight crisp but not overly done. The sesame chicken also came with soup and a small salad. We had the clear soup and salad with ginger dressing. The lettuce was crisp and cold and enjoyed the ginger dressing. The sesame chicken was plentiful. The pieces were big. Too big to use chopsticks almost. The chicken was plump, juicy white meat. The sauce was good but there was almost too much. The broccoli was cooked just right. Usually at places the broccoli is too hard for my liking, but this was perfectly al dente. We got full pretty quickly and took the rest home. Akia Japanese Fusion was pretty good, but nothing really stood out to me as being exceptional. We got there a little before 8pm, which is admittedly a little late for dinner, but it was a Saturday night so we were surprised when we were the only people in the restaurant. No one else came in to eat the entire time we were there, but there were a few to-go orders. The lights were dimmed and there was no music playing when we walked in, which means there hadn't been any customers for a while. This was a little off-putting. We ordered some fried calamari for our appetizer, and we really enjoyed it. The breading was light, the calamari was tender and not chewy, and the dipping sauce was good. We also got a couple of sushi rolls and chicken hibachi. The salad and clear soup that came with the hibachi was tasty, although the ginger dressing tasted a little too salty. We got fairly basic sushi rolls, and they tasted just about how we expected them to. Good, but not any better than anywhere else. We did notice that one roll that was supposed to have masago and tempura flakes in it did not come with them, but we didn't bring it up to our waitress. The chicken hibachi was good and came with a TON of meat. The fried rice that came with it was really good, when sometimes it's a bit of an afterthought at other places. Akai Japanese Fusion is a Chinese owned/operated fresh fish house at the top of Mill Street, Bristol, PA. It replaced an old luncheonette, and has done a decent renovation to give it a darker ambient feel. Perhaps, too much narrow gauge siding and flooring, but don't blame them for saving money where they could. The menu is long on sushi, sashimi and rolls, with a tip of the cap to Chinese and Thai cuisine. So, it's not really a fusion house, but wants to appeal to the fish phobes with a little something more palatable to them. Problem is, that seldom works, and those few offerings are poor relations to the primary actors. That appears to be the case here. More confusion than fusion. So, I went with the salmon teriyaki bento box - 2 small pink fish fillets in a good sauce, 2 gyoza, 6 piece California roll and white rice. The salmon was pleasantly crunchy, the gaozi fried with a chicken filling, and ordinary Cali's. All reasonably satisfying, but nothing more spectacular. It would have been nice to be provided with enough ginger for all the roll nuggets, and more wasabi to mix with soy for dipping. Showed a lack of attention to detail that recommended against a return visit. 2.5 STARS read more

Akia was a bit underwhelming. They are busy, which is a good sign for the restaurant and for Bristol. However, they only have one server which made for slow-ish service especially getting beverage refills and hot tea. The sushi and sashimi was excellent. Spicy tuna roll had a good kick. The sashimi dinner had 12 pieces of melt-in-your-mouth sashimi. The cuts of fish make a difference in texture but each piece had that nice smooth mouth feel. Their Chinese food was not great. General Tso's chicken was so heavily breaded I'm not sure there was any actual chicken. It was chewy and over-sauced. It appears they just spice up their orange chicken and call it General Tso. We would go back but for sushi and sashimi only. read more

Just ordered food from here for the second time and I have to say I was very impressed except for the sushi which is why I only gave 4 stars. The first time I ordered from here we did only sushi and I was very disappointed. I think I ordered a lunch special the first time so maybe it was that and next time I may try regular rolls but they were so bad to me that I don't know if I would order sushi again from here. The second time we did Pad Thai, drunken noodles, dynamite wings, and general tso, and everything was absolutely delish! Like very delish!!! We couldn't stop talking about how good the food was while we were eating. And we can be very particular eaters in regards to our expectations. Looking forward to trying new things from the menu!! Oh and just FYI it's a hole in the wall kind of place and like many other Asian food restaurants since Covid, they only do take out service. This came with standard miso soup and a average ginger salad nothing bad about them but also not really special. The bagel roll was excellent for a novelty roll. The General tso chicken was just the right amount of crispy the sauce was good. The broccoli was amazing cooked just right with just a hint of sweet flavor. We had high hopes but Akia is just "ok". It is pretty average and nothing stands out. The Thai in particular is mediocre. It is not authentic or compelling, and we have had a lot of good Thai food - here and in Thailand. The sushi is literally average. If you want Sushi, we suggest Sakura on Street road in Bensalem. They are very good. Overall expensive for what you get. A meal for 2 was around $45, plus tip. The server was not overly interested or courteous, and they were not busy. read more

Akia has not lost their touch during the pandemic. I miss being able to dine in their small dining room with friends, but they got really creative in designing a pickup window out front if you've ordered takeout online. They're clearly taking things seriously but both the sushi, the thai food -- it's as solid as ever. This place is a gem!!! I got the hibachi chicken teriyaki and it was the best. The veggies were fresh and cooked perfectly. I upgraded the rice to fried rice because some places tend to lack on teriyaki sauce but not this one!! The hibachi special gets a salad with this amazing ginger dressing I can't get enough of and a choice of clear soup or miso soup. 5 stars to that entree and will be my go to for a while!!!! read more

Ordered pepper steak, spring rolls n sushi tonight, only to get it home to find a long black hair in the pepper steak. Called to try to get all my hot food switched out with new hot food with out hair, n it turned to, who im guessing is the owner, debateing with me why he cant just switch out the tainted food. Took 3 mins for me to explain i didnt pay 50 bucks to eat cold food because he dosnt follow proper health codes. Finally after 5 mins of debate i told him that ill just order from somewhere else from now, to which he finally was willing to swap the whole order. It's up there with the best sushi you can find in Bucks county. I can't really comment on there other dishes except the "Thai" food We ordered the sashimi dinner and a number of rolls. Now if I was rating the Thai food, that would be two and a half stars at best. It was Chinese food with some kind of Thai sauce, nothing close to what I think of as Thai food.
