    Sesame Chicken and broccoli
    Kim F.

We were in Bristol checking out Mill St. There are a lot of good options to choose from in the area, but we decided on asian. This place has Chinese, Thai and Japanese on the menu. We decided to eat in. It was fairly quiet for a Saturday evening. The dining room is small with dark wood paneling. The server was very nice and very attentive. We ordered pork pan fried dumplings and sesame chicken. The dumplings were very good. They had a slight crisp but not overly done. The sesame chicken also came with soup and a small salad. We had the clear soup and salad with ginger dressing. The lettuce was crisp and cold and enjoyed the ginger dressing. The sesame chicken was plentiful. The pieces were big. Too big to use chopsticks almost. The chicken was plump, juicy white meat. The sauce was good but there was almost too much. The broccoli was cooked just right. Usually at places the broccoli is too hard for my liking, but this was perfectly al dente. We got full pretty quickly and took the rest home. Would go back to try other items from their menu.

Food was excellent and service was good. The ambiance was meh, but good little find in downtown Bristol. Would definitely go again

Akia Japanese Fusion was pretty good, but nothing really stood out to me as being exceptional. We got there a little before 8pm, which is admittedly a little late for dinner, but it was a Saturday night so we were surprised when we were the only people in the restaurant. No one else came in to eat the entire time we were there, but there were a few to-go orders. The lights were dimmed and there was no music playing when we walked in, which means there hadn't been any customers for a while. This was a little off-putting. We ordered some fried calamari for our appetizer, and we really enjoyed it. The breading was light, the calamari was tender and not chewy, and the dipping sauce was good. We also got a couple of sushi rolls and chicken hibachi. The salad and clear soup that came with the hibachi was tasty, although the ginger dressing tasted a little too salty. We got fairly basic sushi rolls, and they tasted just about how we expected them to. Good, but not any better than anywhere else. We did notice that one roll that was supposed to have masago and tempura flakes in it did not come with them, but we didn't bring it up to our waitress. The chicken hibachi was good and came with a TON of meat. The fried rice that came with it was really good, when sometimes it's a bit of an afterthought at other places. I would probably come here again if I was in the immediate area and wanted sushi. The prices were fair, the food was fresh, the restaurant was clean, and the service was fast and friendly.

Akai Japanese Fusion is a Chinese owned/operated fresh fish house at the top of Mill Street, Bristol, PA. It replaced an old luncheonette, and has done a decent renovation to give it a darker ambient feel. Perhaps, too much narrow gauge siding and flooring, but don't blame them for saving money where they could. The menu is long on sushi, sashimi and rolls, with a tip of the cap to Chinese and Thai cuisine. So, it's not really a fusion house, but wants to appeal to the fish phobes with a little something more palatable to them. Problem is, that seldom works, and those few offerings are poor relations to the primary actors. That appears to be the case here. More confusion than fusion. So, I went with the salmon teriyaki bento box - 2 small pink fish fillets in a good sauce, 2 gyoza, 6 piece California roll and white rice. The salmon was pleasantly crunchy, the gaozi fried with a chicken filling, and ordinary Cali's. All reasonably satisfying, but nothing more spectacular. It would have been nice to be provided with enough ginger for all the roll nuggets, and more wasabi to mix with soy for dipping. Showed a lack of attention to detail that recommended against a return visit. 2.5 STARS

Akia was a bit underwhelming. They are busy, which is a good sign for the restaurant and for Bristol. However, they only have one server which made for slow-ish service especially getting beverage refills and hot tea. The sushi and sashimi was excellent. Spicy tuna roll had a good kick. The sashimi dinner had 12 pieces of melt-in-your-mouth sashimi. The cuts of fish make a difference in texture but each piece had that nice smooth mouth feel. Their Chinese food was not great. General Tso's chicken was so heavily breaded I'm not sure there was any actual chicken. It was chewy and over-sauced. It appears they just spice up their orange chicken and call it General Tso. We would go back but for sushi and sashimi only.

This is a very nice restaurant Showed up with 45 minutes till close They was polite and did not rush our order or for use to leave. Got bubble tea the bagel roll and General tso chicken. This came with standard miso soup and a average ginger salad nothing bad about them but also not really special. The bagel roll was excellent for a novelty roll. The General tso chicken was just the right amount of crispy the sauce was good. The broccoli was amazing cooked just right with just a hint of sweet flavor. Last it is less then a block from a free parking lot which makes for a quick walk to and from your car.

Stopped in, spur of the moment sushi dinner with my darling wife, Kelly. Sat at the Sushi bar. Love watching the prep. Spring roll appetizer was delicious! Little tiny spring rolls. Harumaki in Japanese. So good!!! I ordered the "Regular" Sashimi. Fresh!!! Their rice is spectacular!!! Kelly ordered the Crazy Crab roll. Delicious!!! We'll be back! Don't let the ambiance ruin it for you. Priced well also. Can't beat the location!

From the moment we opened our order, it was clear that care, quality, and pride go into everything they serve. We ordered the tuna maki rolls, yellowtail scallion maki rolls, a tuna sushi dinner, and gyoza, and every single item exceeded expectations. The first thing that truly impressed us was the fish-to-rice ratio. This is something many sushi restaurants get wrong, but Pier Sushi and Hibachi absolutely nailed it. The maki rolls were balanced and generous, allowing the quality of the fish to shine rather than being overwhelmed by rice. As seen in the photos, the fish itself was beautiful--glistening, vibrant, and cut into thick, satisfying pieces that instantly signaled freshness. The nigiri from the tuna sushi dinner was pure perfection. Instead of the oversized, dense balls of rice that are so common elsewhere, the rice here was delicately portioned and lightly packed, letting the fish remain the star. Each piece was topped with a generous slice of tuna, making every bite melt-in-your-mouth delicious and well balanced. Even the details that are often overlooked were thoughtfully executed. The wasabi was clearly high quality--fresh, flavorful, and the perfect complement to the fish without overpowering it. This is one of those small touches that truly elevates the entire sushi experience and shows a commitment to doing things right. The gyoza deserves special mention as well. Despite being a pickup order and not eaten immediately, they were still crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with flavor. That alone speaks volumes about the quality of their preparation and ingredients. Another pleasant surprise was the garden salad included with the meal. The container was packed generously, not skimpy or half-filled, which made it clear that this restaurant prioritizes customer satisfaction over saving a penny or two. That level of care does not go unnoticed and makes a lasting impression. Overall, Pier Sushi and Hibachi delivers on quality, portion size, freshness, and attention to detail--everything you hope for in a great sushi spot. After a long day of work, this is exactly the kind of meal that feels both comforting and indulgent. I would highly recommend this place to any sushi lover and can confidently say we'll be returning again and again.

I had ordered the Shoyu Ramen (Chashu pork) Corn, nori, boiled egg, kikurage and scallion at $14.75. The noodles were a big glob and had to be broken up. The inside is nicely laid out and easy on the eyes. Booths, tables in the middle, sushi bar towards the back and private tatami rooms along the one outer wall. (NOTE: you have to remove your shoes before entering the tatami room so make sure you wear socks if that bothers you!) The service was friendly and timely. Our waitress took the time to go over their menu which had several pages of sushi options alone. They don't have a kids menu, but they were both able to find something they liked. My oldest had the Chicken Teriyaki that came on a skillet with a bed of steamed veggies and white rice on the side. He devoured it and asked for more rice. He allowed me to have a couple of bites of his chicken. The Teriyaki flavors were popping! Little guy shared a steak and shrimp hibachi with my wife. She asked for medium and it came out well. The flavors of the steak and shrimp were awesome, but the corn rice and veggies had a little bit of an off flavor and texture. Both meals came with soup - one miso which tasted just fine, the other a clear soup that had a delicious full onion flavored broth. I had the Volcano roll - $17 - eight - Shrimp tempura, cucumber w special sweet tuna salad outside and the Phoenix Roll - $18 - eight -mixed combo fish & avocado roll, top with salmon yellowtail & special sauce on top. The Volcano roll wasn't super tight, but I enjoyed the crunchy shrimp tempura and sweet sauce. Good fresh ingredients and flavors in both, Phoenix roll had a welcoming kick in the special sauce. Our friend had a Philly Roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll and a veggie roll ($7-$8 avg.) which she said were all good. We had a great time in the room and will certainly repeat. I'm not a well traveled sushi eater, but the menu at Tako was much more extensive (more fish varieties and combinations) than my usual Asian fusion spots) at a similar price so I'll be returning to try more options. The one thing I would recommend to their owners is a bathroom spruce up or thorough cleaning. The walls looked like an inexperienced painter took care of them and there were dirt marks all over the door. Having said that, it's great to have a fun dining option close to home! Thanks guys!!!

Use them for your catered events in or outside of the restaurant. You will not be disappointed. Jason who handled all of my catered events was awesome The staff also awesone. I would rate them 100 stars if I could.

I didn't have the pleasure of visiting Dog & Bull before it was renovated, but I visited last night and can't wait to return. My friend and I made a reservation for 5:30 PM (just in case) as we read online that reservations were recommended, but I don't actually think one was needed. When you walk in, it's bright and inviting. The garage doors throughout the property provide a ton of natural light. I can only imagine how lovely it is when they're open in the summer. Additionally, the outside has a nice patio and an area with a fire pit. The restaurant's layout was designed wonderfully! Our server was Alex (Alexandria) and she was the epitome of exceptional service. She checked in on us multiple times and always had a smile on her face when she came over. We really appreciated having her. The baked feta and hummus appetizer was just as delicious as it looks in the photo. The thick pieces of garlic, roasted red peppers, olives, cucumbers and pita bread triangles paired so nicely with the feta. The hummus was warmed up and it looked like the kitchen staff may have torched the top of it. It was phenomenal. Boy do I have notes on the lentil burger - it was 10/10!! I'm not a big bean person and even though this burger had beans in it, it somehow tasted like an actual beef burger. Sounds crazy, I know, but trust and believe it was pure excellence. I added cheddar for an additional charge and upgraded my regular fries to garlic parm fries. Finally, the caramel apple bread pudding... oh my oh my! What a DELIGHT. The top was piled high with a big scoop of frosting. Yes, you read that right. Frosting! Not ice cream! You can taste the apple pieces in the bread pudding. My friend and I wanted to order it twice. It was THAT good. It was easy to make my way to Dog & Bull from Center City thanks to the Septa station located directly behind the restaurant. Street parking also wasn't too bad yesterday. I absolutely loved the experience I had here and will be stopping by again this summer! Thanks, Dog & Bull!
