As someone that was having a hibachi craving, I found this place from the reviews and figured I'd give this chain a try (they have other locations in NJ / NY as well). *AMBIANCE* We made a reservation on their website which I highly recommend especially if you're coming here on the weekends. We were seated promptly at our reservation time. The restaurant itself gives standard hibachi vibes, with grills, big tables that seat about 8 people and the expectation that you're going to be seeing shrimp tails flying into hats or the hibachi chef starting an onion volcano. Unfortunately, the vibe felt very flat once we realized there would be no show of anything due to the restrictions of the other family seated at our table. *FOOD* The quality of the food was just okay. With the hibachi dinners, in addition to your selection of a main, usually comes with a soup, salad, shrimp appetizer and ice cream. However, the food wasn't memorable where I need to run back here. *SERVICE* Our waitress was very attentive and did a great job of explaining things as it was our first time there. There is a 18% service charge for parties of 2 or more and you get a 3% discount if paying in cash. For the price and expectations of a hibachi steakhouse, I was hoping for a better overall experience. While I understand accommodating certain restrictions of other parties, it was frustrating that this meant the entire table missed out on the experience without any prior warning or alternative option that should've been mentioned to us before we sat down. Overall, hibachi is as much about the show as it is about the food and missing that really took away from the experience. Combined with the average food, I probably would not return. read more

Had a nice time here! Went for the hibachi at the table for a family event. It came with all of the performance bells and whistles one would expect. I have to say, it was lively and I enjoyed the experience of catching vegetables tossed at me and getting some house sake by the chef via the squirt bottle. Definitely nice in terms of the energy level. I ordered the steak and scallops. Loved the scallops but I found the steak to be bland. Soup was delicious and the salad with ginger dressing was great. I highly recommend getting the fried rice upgrade. I love white rice but what I received was dry. Not the classic sticky rice in a bowl. Staff were nice and the atmosphere was very good. Just noisy with all of the activity and birthdays etc... if I return, I will stick with the scallops (full order). Oh, I visited on a weekend so maybe weekdays are a bit more toned down. read more

We arrived at 6:30 PM as instructed on the reservation page, but we were not seated until 7:15 PM. After being seated, we waited an hour for the chef to come out. Frustrated, I called for the manager about five minutes before the chef finally arrived to express my concerns about this unacceptable wait time, especially since we had three hungry kids with us and it was my birthday dinner. The manager attempted to dismiss my concerns by claiming that the long wait was the normal process. This was particularly frustrating as I have been to several hibachi restaurants in the area where the chef arrives much more promptly. She assured me that she would address this issue after dinner, but I was ready to take my family elsewhere if it weren't for the kids wanting to stay. We were told that the grill had been on the entire hour, but we soon discovered it was never turned on. Chef Mark then informed us it would take an additional 7 to 10 minutes for it to heat up, but it ended up taking 15 minutes, further prolonging our wait time. Throughout this experience, the service was inattentive and unhelpful. We repeatedly had to flag down staff for our drink orders and basic needs, only to receive dismissive responses. During dinner, I asked about the manager since she had promised to speak with me when things settled down. She never came, so I went to the hostess area to request her. A waiter named Carlos returned after about five minutes and told me that the manager instructed him to give us a 20% discount and that the birthday cake would not be charged. However, when my husband reviewed the receipt, he found only a 10% discount had been applied, not the promised 20%. I am extremely disappointed that the manager, who claimed she would address my concerns, never bothered to come out. My grievances were once again dismissed. To make matters worse, another family seated next to us voiced similar frustrations, underscoring our lack of service and awareness we experienced. This was meant to be a special birthday celebration at Arirang, which has a previously good reputation in the area. After this experience, you have lost my business and my family. You must take customer concerns seriously. Without customers, there is no Arirang. The treatment we received was unacceptable, and it must be addressed. Good food, great fun atmosphere and even better show! I've been to a few hibachi restaurants in my lifetime and they all pretty much follow the same script and Arirang was no different. We dropped in for a Friday evening dinner reservation at 6pm and, to my surprise, the restaurant was already pretty packed and loud - mostly with families and birthday celebrations. The menu here is pretty standard hibachi fare - Japanese-inspired appetizers/soups/salads, sushi and, the highlight of the menu, hibachi dinner entrees, which are served with a house salad, soup and white/fried rice with Asian vegetables and protein(s) of your choice. Proteins being steak, pork, chicken, scallops, shrimp lobster or fish (salmon, sole, tuna). The bottom line - you should be here to see a cooking lesson and hibachi show so skip most of the menu and go straight to the Hibachi dinners! Honestly, you won't go wrong with any of them, but, if you want to go all out, go with some steak or filet mignon & lobster. We ended up ordering a few Hibachi dinners with fried rice and a mix of steak, shrimp, chicken and scallops. All of it was super delicious - maybe a bit on the salty side for some because of the soy sauce that's squirted onto everything - but, ultimately, DELICIOUS still. If you've never been to a Hibachi restaurant and watched the chefs cook up your meal in front of you, then you're in for a real treat with the theatrics and show that they put while cooking your meal. Be prepared to also get involved if you're picked to drink some liquor from their squeeze bottle or catch a vegetable in your mouth - it's all loads of fun that makes the dining experience unique and interesting. However, it DOES depend on your chef and how theatrical they are. As for table arrangements, if your party cannot fill up the 8 seats at your hibachi grill/table, you WILL have to share the experience with strangers, which can sometimes make for an awkward situation - that's if you are not a people person. In addition, the chef for your table does not begin cooking your meal until all of the table has been seated, even if the tablemates are strangers, so, basically, everyone at the table experiences the chef's show at the same time. And, YES, they DO birthday celebrations if you mention it to the staff. I'm not sure how they charge for it, but, if you plan on coming here to dine, be prepared to witness plenty of them during your time there because they make it known it's your birthday. I can't endorse coming to Arirang all of the time, but it's a great place to celebrate special occasions - specifically birthdays, graduations, promotions, etc. The shared dining experience with others and the cooking show make it well worth the premium you pay for the food. Definitely an experience all serious diners should try once. read more

Service was good. Manager came over and checked on us which was nice. The cocktails are fun and tasty- fairly priced especially at happy hour. We had sushi and it was good. The music is very loud in the sushi bar area. My only issue was that there is a built-in 18% tip on the bill and perhaps I missed it but I don't recall seeing that on the menu anywhere- we were only a party of 2 and I expect that on larger parties. I nearly missed it on the bill and was about to tip on the total when I noticed that on the tip line it said "additional tip or gratuity". I can imagine that they get double tipped by people not paying attention to that- I nearly did. I'd been there before and didn't notice it so it's either a new policy or I double-tipped. I don't like that practice. Just be upfront and let me tip what the service warrants. Usually I tip 20-25% but this made me just stick with their 18%. read more

I had sushi and it tasted good. I'd like to rave about two people-- Stephanie and Naro. Stephanie was very attentive, probably one of the most attentive waitresses I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Naro was phenomenal. He was our hibachi chef. Very Entertaining . Beyond excited to try this place. We headed there tonight (Saturday night) My husband and my 8 year old. We walked in and were met with a heavy HEAVY marijuana smell. Two ladies at the front, we had a couple in front of us and a family behind us. The ones behind us got tired of waiting and just walked up and gave their name. I tried to tell the lady that we were there first. No point she was dumber than a bag of rocks and said they were only currently seating 2 person parties. I just turned around and we walked out.
