I'll divide this review up into 4 sections to make this easier to read! Food: I ordered the Curry Leaf Chicken, Butter Chicken, water, and the Apricot Delight! The Curry Leaf Chicken, even if it was a little out of my spice range at mild, was absolutely delicious with so many nice earthy, warm flavors and was really filling so if you're going to order this, make sure you have a very empty stomach to eat your entrée as well! Unfortunately, the Butter Chicken wasn't to my liking, not because I thought it was bad since this is a very popular Indian dish that would be very hard to mess up, but because I wanted to try something new and found out I simply didn't like sweet chicken, which is what this tasted like. So if you like those mixes this could be for you! There wasn't anything to note of about the rice I actually got for free but that honestly makes sense since it's meant to be eaten with their other, much more flavorful foods. The real star of the show however, was the Apricot Delight, do not miss out on this if you ever come! Not only was the presentation of this so cute (unfortunately I forgot to catch a pic) but after taking a bite to see how it tasted, I couldn't stop myself from taking a few more before leaving (I planning on taking it to-go to save for when I got home) because of how perfectly sweet, spongy, and milky it was! Service: Even though there was only 1 lady present, she really made me feel welcomed and even gave me a whole experience by putting on some of her favorite songs for me to listen to! She also is a great person to get recommendations from since she helped me pick my Curry Leaf Chicken as my appetizer! Not only that, but because I told her about my experience with my Butter Chicken, she paid for an extra order of my Appetizer to-go for me to take home! Overall she was a really sweet and pleasant person to be around! Interior: As you can see from my pictures, not only was the interior extremely clean and well-kept but the design was so beautiful in my opinion and I could really tell the restaurant put a lot of love and thought into their design! Who I'd Recommend this Place To: If you're looking to take a partner to a date in a restaurant where it's cozy, private, and not too loud, and you both have a love for spicy foods bursting with many flavors, then this place is for you! If you are an introvert that'd like to eat without feeling too crowded or feels too claustrophobic with a very accommodating server, then this place is for you! Finally, if you're looking for a new local business to support instead of another billion-dollar company then this place is definitely for you! Last Thing: This isn't a buffet, it's just a humble restaurant like any other, so please do not be misled when you come! read more

As an American, medium spice means something different to me than it does to an Indian restaurant...but that's a failing on my taste buds and capsaicin receptors. A bright, cheery setting with an Al fresco offering and a beautiful table spread makes you feel like royalty. We each ordered something different and there were positives and negatives for each. The tandoori chicken was good but the texture was a little off-putting. The goat fry biryani tasted incredibly unctuous and meaty, but was surprisingly light. The issue, however, is that it was cooked on the bone and said bones were left in the dish (same with the chicken biryani). Having to fight getting the meat off the bone was a chore, but the occasional bone sliver in a rice dish made for a less than pleasant eating experience (and a dangerous one at that). Finally, the cashew chicken was delightful, but even ordered mild, it was painfully spicy. The food came out at different times, like 5-7 minute intervals for each diner and the pacing was....hmm....let's say it was not concerned with speed...at all...even a little bit. For the money, it was worth the price as the portions were gigantic. The real question...would I go again? If I'm out that way and want Indian cuisine...sure. Would I go out of my way...not so much. read more

Been wanting to try this spot out. I had the shrimp curry and garlic naan. The portion of the food was good. The shrimp was abundant. The flavor was really good. The garlic Nan tasted off so they replaced it with new batch, tasted the same. Not sure if it's the oil they used but it was not good. The service very minimal. Glad we tried it out. As always with my reviews: the ugly, the bad, and good. The ugly: service was beyond beyond atrocious. There was one girl working the counter and tables. There were 10 Uber/Grubhub drivers and 10 customers. Having placed my order for 6pm at 3pm, I assumed a 5-10 min wait. It is Valentine's Day. Upon arrival, a brutal 35 min wait. As I mentioned, 10 drivers standing everywhere. Very small restaurant. I tried to remain positive and upbeat even as some people got served that came in later than me. (recall I preordered) The bad: packing. Nothing was labeled. I do love Indian food but can't tell one orangey chicken from another. So this started as a one star review and then I tasted the food....and it was really really good. We tried a bunch of stuff but the lamb and chicken dishes were all excellent so this is bumped to a 3! read more

Returned here recently for a dinner with my wife and daughter. As soon as I walked in the door I was consumed by the wonderful aromatic smells of Indian spices...it was intoxicating! We ordered a table full of dishes to share...vegetable samosas, chicken tikka masala, saag paneer and vegetable korma. To start, our server brought out papadum crackers served with three dipping sauces (green chutney, sticky tamarind, spicy tomato). I had never eaten / seen the spicy tomato mix and all three of us really enjoyed its heat. After a bit, the server brought out a large platter of rice and the main dishes soon followed. Veg samosas were piping hot and of course the aforementioned dipping sauces were used once again to give these potato pillows a bit more umph. Each of us laid out a bed of rice, then began spooning out portions of the oh-so-colorful bowls we ordered. Of course, no Indian meal would be complete without naan...we ordered the garlic variety and it was a perfect accompaniment to the bowls where the extra (pooled) sauce was just waiting to be scooped up and consumed. A few notes about the mains. The chicken tikka masala was on the sweeter side of all the varieties I've tried; not my favorite, but not bad either. The vegetable korma was my wife's favorite; it had a fair amount of heat and a rich sauce. The saag paneer was creamy and honestly was probably better either on its own or spread across the naan, rahter than atop rice. It tasted like India! Picture this: Small restaurant with typical interesting structures. Brown tables and chairs encompass the petite dining area. Enter my waiter named Berlin serving me with the sweetest demeanor. I ordered the vegetable pakora, baighan barta and butter naan which he kindly repeated back to me to be sure he heard my order correct. The vegetable pakora was delicious and came in large quantity, I couldn't eat it all! The butter naans were baked to perfection and accompanied the main entree very well. It was a bit spicy so I had to ask for yogurt which was equally appetizing all by itself. I will return here again when I'm in the area and I am hoping to be blessed with even more delicious dishes!! Last time I got food from here everything was perfect so I ordered some of the same dishes again and it was NOT the same. It seems like they changed the recipe. The chicken saag had spinach and chicken and it was more thick before but now it is more runny and they added a lot of onions into the sauce, like chunks of it. The samosas were the same and were good. But sadly, I do not like the new recipe and ordering online the chicken saag doesn't say it has onions on the menu and I would have liked to have known that when they changed it. What a find! Never had Indian food before, but I will again and again. Came in on a Saturday evening at 6:00. Had to get to a show at Playhouse Square by 7:30 and was concerned about having enough time for dinner so we gave this place a shot. There were only 2 other tables with customers when we walked in, and about a half dozen wait staff to help, so they were very attentive. They first brought some thin bread, almost like tortilla chips, with 3 dipping sauces. I have no idea what was in them but they were very good. One was chopped tomatoes with some spice, one was like a tomatillo sauce, and the third was like a plumb sauce. For dinner we had Chicken Mango and Chicken Tikka Masala. I asked for the Tikka spicy and boy was it! Outstanding flavor as was the Mango. They also brought some fancy named bread that was like a giant grilled pita. It was delicious. I saw a couple other tables getting appetizers that looked like huge crab rangoons. Gotta try that next time. Got in and out in less than 30 minutes. read more

Stopped on Sunday and tried the lunch buffet. The first impression when walking in was how GOOD the dining room smelled. The buffet was on the small side but more than makes up for that with the awesome flavors. The shrimp curry was mouthwatering, perfect flavors, and just enough heat to make the top of your head perspire. Several chicken dishes, including chicken vindaloo and several vegetarian dishes rounded out the buffet. The flavors were all exactly what my wife and I were hoping to find. Service was good without being intrusive. The menu looks very interesting and something we will explore in the near future. My wife and I visited here for the first time last night. She isn't accustomed to Indian cuisine so we stayed with a simple dish of chicken tikka masala. She enjoyed it finding the peppers and onions a nice touch. I had lamb shahi korma which was truly amazing. We shared garlic and paneer naan and meat samosas. By the end I was stuffed (having finished my portion and some of her masala). Our dinner was excellent and we were pleased to see more rice whisked to our table when we had finished the portion served to us with our entrees. The staff were are very pleasant and welcoming. The menu has many selections and varieties of common dishes (korma with vegetables, lamb, chicken, or shrimp). There are many varieties of naan and multiple appetizers and desserts to select from. I plan to visit soon for the lunch buffet served every day for under $10! This might be my new favorite place in town to eat. **Note, here I am a few months later and it is DEFINITELY my favorite place in the area. Also, I stopped for a very late lunch (1:30 PM) and found the buffet still very fresh and well-stocked.
