WOW!!! This place is fantastic. From the service to the atmosphere to the food, everything is 10/10. Randy was so kind and although the place was slammed he took the time to make sure we were taken care of, we never felt forgotten about. Also, I need to note, this place is SO family friendly- it seemed like the staff knew everyone and people were happy and hugging and having a great time. Definitely so nice to see! On to food: We got the ceviche and the lomo saltado (ribeye) both were extremely flavorful and were addicting to eat. The rice was fluffy and delicious! Complete rip off Yucca fries, pollo soltado, papa huancaina, 42 freaking dollars. Basically no food. Pollo soltado has 4 tiny pieces of chicken, 8 yucca fries, this is a complete rip off. You all should be ashamed of yourselves. Also flavors are all wrong. Not sure how you open a Peruvian restaurant and not know the flavors. I love Peruvian food! love it even more when it's done well. The team here knocked it out of the park. A fairly large space with a good amount of seating. A menu that's straight to the point. The lomo saltado is a must. The green sauce is ultra addicting with a kick. I loved the seasoning on the chaufa. They've got red and golden cola here's as well. Hands-down, the most authentic Peruvian food anywhere in San Diego county that I have found. I had the ceviche mixto, yucca frita, chicha morada, and I also had some of my wife's tallarin con huancaina (spicy cheese sauce) and steak. The tallarin surprised me, the sauce was perfectly tailored for the noodles, and it wasn't too thick or heavy. The steak was a thin steak and worked well with the dish, solid flavor on the steak. My ceviche mixto and yucca frita were super delicious. I will say for sure that their restaurant location has superior quality to the food truck that they used to have; and even the food truck I would've given four stars out of five. Very glad to see that they were able to secure this restaurant. Space. Will be coming back for sure. read more

I'm so excited this restaurant opened up in Oceanside. My husband and I have gone to Al Toque for years when they were a food truck serving out of Five Suits Brewing in Vista. Al Toque serves Peruvian dishes like stir fries, rice dishes, etc. So excited they opened up a storefront because everything is so incredibly delicious! We ordered the platanos fritos, papa a la huancaina, ribeye saltado (stirfry), and chicken chaufa (fried rice). The entrees were incredible, as were the platanos. The hibiscus drink was yummy too. The staff was so welcoming and friendly, and so excited we were there-- they said they wanted us to feel like family. There was a muralist painting while we were there and it looks like it'll be really cool- can't wait to go back and see the finished product. We're going to go back soon! First time here and I was really impressed. The staff were super warm and welcoming. It truly felt like they genuinely cared, not just going through the motions. Ambiance was great and so was the food. I got the Lomo Saltado with beef to-go, and even after the drive home, it was still amazing. Born and raised in Peru, and after living in California for 10 years (LA, Newport, Carlsbad, and now Oceanside), I can confidently say that Altoque is by far the best Peruvian food I've had since moving here. I've already been three times, and every visit has been a 10/10: food, service, ambiance, and overall experience. Super cool vibes as well! The yucas and chaufa are my personal favorites, but everything I've tried has been delicious. The flavors are so good and bring me right back home. Came here for the first time Saturday night with my husband and some food loving friends. We were seated right away and there were multiple tv's playing a soccer game and the Netflix live boxing event. Our waiter was very friendly. They have a good selection of drinks: Peruvian drinks like Inka cola and I had Maracuya, a delicious juice. Would have also made a delicious alcoholic drink if they had vodka. We enjoyed the crunchy corn they placed in the table for everyone to snack on. To share we ordered the Calamar Frito (crunchy and delicious), Papa a la Huancaina (cheesy potatoes how can you go wrong?) and the Ceviche Mixto (will probably always order a ceviche on future visits). 2 friends had the Ribeye Saltado, my husband the Saltado de pollo, one had a mixed plate of fried shrimp and calamari and I had the Tallarínes Verdes with bistec. The pasta was delicious but Inwoukd try it with either the chicken or shrimp in the future. They left a bottle of Aji on the table which was spicy and delicious and I put it on everything. Yuca fríes are so good!!!! Lomo saltado would be if made with lomo, filet migon or even sirloin, but ribeye... why ribeye, I've never found a place make it with that in Peru. Sauces are good, especially the golden sauce. Chica is great. The bottled is the best I've had in the US. Their ceviche is so good we've gotten it multiple times and huge party platters of it a few times. But once we ordered mix and only got fish. They forgot the shrimp. Bummer. Inca always good. Bottled is best but super hard to find in the US so plastic bottle or can will have to do. If they'd make their lomo with lomo and not rib-eye this would be the place I'd recommend a lot but I'll still keep recommending others here for the Yuca and ceviche. So good! read more
