We had an amazing experience at Al Toque Peruvian Restaurant! The food is absolutely exceptional, so flavorful and authentic. The leche de tigre was delicious, honestly better than any I've had before, even compared to my visit to Peru. And the lomo saltado is to die for! A very special shout out to Bader. He has such a beautiful vibe, always with a lovely smile, so sweet, thoughtful, and attentive. He was especially kind to our son, he acknowledged him and made everything extra special, which meant a lot to us. We are visiting from Sacramento and came here three times during our trip, and he made our experience so much better every time. Unfortunately, on our last day he wasn't there, and we truly missed him! But the owner was super nice too!!! We are heading back home now, but whenever we come back to San Diego, we will always come back here. I have a confession to make. It's been a year since I've been here and just like a year ago I had no idea what to order on the menu. This time I came with a friend who speaks the language and is very familiar with Peru and it's food. We were also a part of a ladies group, so I felt more comfortable ordering, and the menu online with photos didn't hurt either. I ordered the TALLARIN Verde Pallo which I would order again as the chicken was the best I've ever had, and the basil pasta was so plentiful and delicious. I had another entire meal that I brought home with me. A friend ordered the ceviche for the table, and that also was beyond amazing or as some have noted magical. My only disappointment was after a holiday weekend they were sold out of one of their specialty drinks: the chicha which we were told take several hours to make and uses quite a variety of fruit juices. Despite the laborious efforts, the prices were very reasonable and I swore I'd come back if only for a drink although I'm sure I'll have to order some food while there. They have party trays, I understand and I would definitely consider using them for catering as all six of us thought everything was outstanding. One friend did take home some noodles for her granddaughter. The easy location off the five on Oceanside Boulevard, in combination with a great service and food makes this place a regular spot when in the mood for something delicious. read more

Love this place! My two favorite Peruvian places in North County used to be Panca and Q'ero. Panca for their quinoa cakes and Lomo Saltado, Q'ero for their Pernil de Chancho (some sort of crispy pork shank dish). Panca's permanently closed and Q'ero stopped selling the pork shank. So this has become my new favorite Peruvian spot just for their Lomo Saltado. If you're not familiar, it's steak with tomatoes and onions over french fries and rice. Their's is amazing! I have a shellfish allergy so they always make it without oyster sauce and they pull it off beautifully. They give you these corn nut like things for an appetizer, just like Q'ero used to. And then the green sauce here.... FIRE! It's almost like a hot sauce you can just squeeze over everything. The staff is extremely personable and friendly. The atmosphere isn't romantic at all, but if all you're trying to get done is eating a good dinner, it does just fine. read more

i've been here twice, and I must say that the second time was better than the first time. I ordered the Lomo Saltado both times. The second time was better than the first time, but both were delicious. My husband ordered the chauffeur and it was quite rice heavy but it had a nice mix of seafood and steak within the dish. Thinking the husband will order what I had the next time. What made this experience great was the owner. He sat with us to ask us how we liked our food and wondered if we had had this type of food before. I told him some places that I had experienced in Orange County and in Riverside County. He wrote the names down and I'm sure he'll be doing some recon to find out who his competition is in the Peruvian food space. My wife and I go out to eat often and this place was very good. The rib eye saltado was delicious and I think anyone who enjoys onion and meat will enjoy it. Great Peruvian restaurant! I compare all Peruvian restaurants to Mario's in LA and this was pretty close at least for their Lomo Saltado. The restaurant is bright and spacious with plenty of tables and a nice mural. Service was friendly and he made a helpful suggestion when we wanted to add an egg to one of our dishes but couldn't decide. He suggested A La Pobre which included 2 eggs and plantains so it was perfect for sharing. We also got the Tallarines Verde (pesto sauce) and the Calamari which was very flavorful as well. I found Al Toque Peruvian Kitchen completely by accident while driving on the 5 freeway to South Orange County, and what an amazing find. I'm so glad I stopped. As soon as I walked in, I was warmly welcomed by two gentlemen working there. I didn't catch their names, but they were incredibly kind, professional, and working hard to manage a busy restaurant while still being attentive to every customer. That kind of service really stood out. I ordered to go and everything was packed with flavor. The ceviche mixto was hands down the best, as of you were eating it in Perú, so fresh, authentic and perfectly seasoned. My husband ordered the tallarín verde con pollo. It was good, but I have a feeling it would have been even better fresh out of the kitchen and eaten right there. I also got the arroz mar y tierra, and wow! it was absolute perfection. The portion was generous and every bite had a perfect balance of flavor. If you're ever nearby or even just passing through, this spot is definitely worth a stop. Food, great! Ambiance, is good. Service, is not great. For the good, we really love Peruvian food and this absolutely the best in the area. The food is super tasty, flavorful, tender. All great. We normally get the lomo saltado, tallarin verde, and calamari and I loved all of it! I have gotten it to go one time and it does not travel that great so recommend eating it there. However, I would call the service maybe 3 stars. We've eaten there twice (once on a Friday, then a Monday) and both times we waited at the front to be seated for 5-10 minutes and watched that be consistent while we ate. The second time we were prepared so ordered right away but it still took extremely long to get our food (think ~40 minutes from ordering) and the appetizer (calamari) came way after entrees. Drinks wouldn't get refilled, had to flag someone down several times. The waiters are all nice, when you have their attention but they seem severely understaffed. I want to say they were just busy but both times the restaurant was only half full. I think the price of the food is a bit expensive for the lack of service. It's a bummer for us because we actually really enjoy the food so we're really hoping they fix the issue and hire more staff! read more

Food here is insanely good. It's rare to have peruvian chifa cuisine in SD and this is the best! I live all the way down south close to the border and this is totally worth the drive I got ala huancaina noodles were soo good. I love Peruvian food! love it even more when it's done well. The team here knocked it out of the park. A fairly large space with a good amount of seating. A menu that's straight to the point. The lomo saltado is a must. The green sauce is ultra addicting with a kick. I loved the seasoning on the chaufa. They've got red and golden cola here's as well.
