Came by here awhile ago and finally doing the review. We came upon this place by accident. I guess you can say, we followed our noses. We were on Park Avenue at lunch time browsing and smelled the lovely aroma on the street. Glad we went in otherwise we would have passed up a gem. It's pretty much your hole in the wall place with really no dining space. I recall sitting outside similar to a bar to eat and watching families with kids visiting the bike store right next to the place. Anyhow, the burgers were tasty and reasonably priced. I had been passing this place up for a while mostly cuz its small and only has two tables to sit at outside. However, I finally went here, and think I will come back. It's not the best burger place in Alameda, but the quality of meat is good, and they actually do use fresh components (meat, lettuce, etc). The 1/2 pound burger really did seem like it was half a pound even after being cooked. I got the curly fries, and I must admit they are a bit overpriced ($2.50), but they were good. Next time I go there, I think I will request medium rare as their default is medium, which is pretty standard. The burger was still good though. read more

Best burgers in Alameda. It's as good as home made hand shaped patties. Juicy and cooked just right. The wait is kinda long because they are a tiny joint and you need to eat in the bicycle shop parking lot if you eat there. Very little seating. Get it to-go and your gold. read more

Dont let the outside appearance of this place fool you! It a small family run business and they cook up some AWSOME burgers! Always fresh. Their other hot sandwhiches are pretty good too! I love their steakfries. The only knock on this place......lack of seating. read more

This place is a hole in the wall behind the bike store where two badass ladies make loads of burgers. Their burgers look good but the Korean bbq is what I had and it was bomb! Really hit the spot. Good meat, which is a good sign for a burger place. Highly recommend. read more

If you like your burgers beefy, this is the place for you. Great burgers. All the ingredients tasted fresh and the fries were good to. You can get burgers from 1/3 to 2/3 lb. That's big. Best burger in Alameda. I just hope there not frozen patties. read more

Yup the burgers are good! Who cares about the service, they're not that bad (sometimes they smile, sometimes they don't)...however I'd rather have great tasty food and order done right than have someone smile at me the whole time w/ shi**y food and all (but that's just me). Yeah parking sucks but I've always been pretty lucky. read more

This is my de facto place for burgers and fries to carry out. So I'm also a big fan of in and out, I love this place. Their teriyaki chicken sandwiches are even better! The only thing to be careful about is going there when Alameda High is on its lunch break because it does get very crowded. read more

I'd give this a full 5 stars if the burgers came with more bells & whistles. Although, I've only been there a couple of times so maybe they're open to suggestion (like avocado on my cheeseburger? or bacon on the cheese fries maybe?). A very flavorful burger, and cooked to order. Love the steak fries, with or without cheese/jalapenos (or bacon). That settles it, next time I'll ask them to put bacon on the cheese fries. read more

I'm going to write a longer review later because I really do love this place, but I just want everyone to know that *YES*, the *DO* in fact take credit cards. They are *NOT* cash only. [Edit] So I got back from my second time there. I went with a standard Bacon Cheeseburger with Mushrooms, and it was excellent. A pretty good sized burger (even just the 1/3 lbs). The wait was a little longer than expected, but we did have 8 people with us, so that had something to do with it I'm sure. The normal steak fries are the way to go for a side dish, I don't recommend the Jalapeño Cheese Fries... twice the price ($3.55 or something), and it really just doesn't go well with the steak fries. When I get burgers, this is the place I go. Definitely the best on the island. They will customize your burgers and are very friendly. It's hard to go wrong with anything on the menu. The Sweet Potato and Curly Fries are top picks along with the Korean BBQ and Mushroom Burgers. But again it's hard to go wrong with anything on the menu. The only thing is that it's a small place with outside seating only and unless it's a nice day out it's ideal to make you order to go. read more

If you're looking for a quick bite to eat. Try this place. Their burgers are delicious, they taste just like what you would make at home along with their steak fries. I found this place by chance. You can pass by it without knowing it because it's a whole in the wall but the old adage is those whole in the wall eateries or restaurants always provides great, quality food. This place serves up tasty burgers and steak fries, AND you can order your fries plain, with nacho cheese or nacho cheese with jalapenos. The Alameda Grill is more of a take-out spot, but they do provide some seating on a small patio right outside their door. The two women working Saturday were very nice and patient while four of us drooled over the menu and asked a ton of questions before being able to decide. The burgers are cooked to order, and my only complaint is that I ordered my burger rare and it was more medium, but it was still good. Great prices too! read more

Do not let the "hole in the wall" look distract you from eating here... these burgers really are, "The Best Burgers in town"! Good fries too! Funky outdoor seating and not a lot of room, it does get crowed around lunch time, noon thru 1:00, but so worth the wait. After eating here I am still in search of the perfect Alameda Burger. I just had a cheeseburger and fries. The burger was your basic frozen bulk costco creation but the fries were a delightful surprise. Oversized - crispy outsides, fluffy insides and not drippy greasy. Did I order the wrong stuff or what?? I got the Korean chicken plate with extra chicken. $3 more for extra chicken?? When my order came out it didn't even look like I got extra chicken, it was like 2 1/2 small pieces. How many will they give if I didn't ask for extra chicken?? A $12 plate that looks like it should be $5. And who uses that much oil just to cook some chicken?? People need to be a little bit more picky with what they eat or maybe this place just isn't as good as it use to be?? Never coming back that's for sure. read more

Trying to decide what's for lunch today. Coworker screamed healthy...um... we had salad and stuff for the past 2 days, let's have something more tasty...well, I needed to visit Citibank (rent time!!!) how about something around there. She suggested the Sandwich board, then, *dink* "have u tried the American Grill across the street? I heard it's good" I knew she was down when she's printing out a menu from a website. When I walked in, it kinda reminds me of Ahh's burger by the lake. Simple burgers, great taste... We ordered an Alameda burger, which is a regular 1/3 lb with all fixing, you can add on grill onion with no extra charge, yum... teri-mushroom chicken sandwich and I had my eyes on Korean BBQ burger in Lettuce warp (for the "healthy" reason) , oh also an order of onion rings. I dunno about them, but my order was off the hook. Sauteed mushroom, grilled onions, tomato and 1/3 lb meat nicely wrapped in lettuce with a spicy bbq sauce. Can't remember the last time I finished the whole burger...... In my defense, it was a "salad" with beef patty and spicy bbq dressing... I would have given it a 5 star, but the onion rings were kinda disappointing. Best turkey burgers in Alameda maybe except Burgermeister but half of the cost. This is a place you get it and go and they always cook to order. The person working there is always very friendly and you'll get what you pay for but it is a damn good burger. read more

I've been coming to Alameda Grill close to 10 years. Owners have changed but food has not. I have had just about everything on the menu and never have had a bad meal. Today was 4 cheeseburger combos with grilled onions. A perfect burger. Steak fries also perfect, the ladies threw in a bag of sweet potato fries for us to try, Excellent. The bulgolgi is very good also. Daily specials also worth a try. Try to beat the high school crowd here before lunch. read more

Korean burger for me and my friends please. Its cheap and affordable. Freshly made patties as well. You don't see many resturants do this anymore. You can tell its home made because of how the pattie looks. Boy it just melts in your mouth. The food just reviews itself. Its mouth watering good. 4 stars only because they close at 6... A-OK with a big plus is exactly what Alameda Grill is. It is a tiny little space with a few tables outside. The burgers are cooked to order and are made with fresh veggies and soft buns. The fries are fabulous steak fries that are hot and delicious. There is nothing "incredible" about these burgers but they are very good and very filling. There is nothing about these burgers that make you crave them because there is nothing "unforgettable" about them, but they are always satisfying and slightly greasy (in a good way). Their ice tea on tap is not good - tastes like chemicals, though. Opt for bottled. read more

Good solid American cheese burger and big crisp steak fries. I'd even say a terrific cheese burger meal for the price. No fuss no muss. My place in the Alameda area for a cheese burger. Burger toppings were really good...fresh lettuce, tomatoes and good onions (someone thoughtfully picked these out). Downside: there is no inside seating and they have a small outdoor seating area. Good burger for the value and I'm not talking fast food. Ordered 3 teri burgers, dressed with teri sauce, mushrooms, grilled onions, lettuce, tomato for under $20. Yum! Fries are extra. Good steak fries though. Also, their teriyaki beef rice plate is pretty good. Not much sitting area, but I always order to go. I use to eat here a lot...until...I got moldy bread. Which realllly turned me off because I didnt notice it was moldy until half way into my sandwich =[ they were nice and remade it for me, but ever since then, I havent been able to order the grilled cheese again. the burgers are okay, the quality of the meat doesnt seen so great, oh and I dont like re-fried fries. Now I'm not a very big fan of burgers but the Deluxe Korean Burger is the bomb dot com. Haha. I can't believe I said that but it's true. It has the perfect amount of spice and flavor. My husband and I are already thinking about what I want to get the next time I'm craving for a burger. read more

On my first visit to Alameda grill I ordered a burger, medium rare, with bacon and grilled onion, jalapenos, and all the other regular fixings except raw onions and mustard. The Good: The burger meat is excellent, cooked to exactly medium rare. I though it could have used a bit more seasoning but it was quality beef certainly better than others I've had on the island. The jalapeno peppers were pickled, which I happen to prefer. The onions were grilled beautifully. Lettuce was crisp. The whoel thing was very juicy and tasty. The Not So Good: The bacon was soggy and not great quality. The smart burger joints know to put bacon in the deep frier for maximum crunch. I won't bother with bacon again. The tomato was not ripe and rather a sad small piece. The WAS NO PICKLE. Eeeek! Sad lack only partly made up for by the fact that the jalapenos were pickled. The bun is too fluffy for my taste. It gets soggy instantly, making it impossible to take away. I wonder if they will grill the bun for you? Bottom line? I'll be going back but I think I'll try the Korean burger or something more specialist next time. read more
