I can understand all the awesome reviews for Alameda Pizza and actually I would have been one of those to give it at least 4 stars for all the tasty experiences I have had so far. Yes, a bit pricy, greasy, salty, but pretty darn tasty I must say compared to Croll's, Mountain Mike's, Round Table Pizza. I have been eating at Alameda Pizza on and off for the past 3 yrs and usually had very positive experiences. On the pricy $$$$ side but I'm the type that will pay more for better so the price really doesn't bother me. However, today I got a small pizza To Go and they were burnt all around the edges. When I asked the man (short, mustache, bald on top w/hair just on the sides) if I can get them remade he said, "They're not burnt." I wish I could've taken a picture to post but believe me the edges were toasty pitch black and hard. Anyway, he made new slices. This was only my first bad experience at Alameda Pizza so I really wasn't going to put this review up but I'm only doing it because of his attitude. Instead of saying, "Sorry, let me make you new ones" he expected me to eat the burnt ones as if I can't tell the difference between burnt and not burnt ... I have only been eating pizza practically all my life. In fact I used to work at a Pizza Store for couple of years in high school. I cannot and will not ... ever ... tolerate rude customer service! *** IT GETS WORSE *** Now home .... while eating the more appetizing-looking pizza watching ESPN, I noticed a curly transparent springy stuff like something that came off of a "kitchen metallic cleaner" (keep in mind that these foreign objects were transparent and only about 3-5mm with light curls so they are hard to detect and 2 of the 5 tiny pieces I found were actually embedded onto the bottom-side of the pizza so I had to use my fingernails to literally prick them off the dough). Had it been a gnat or some kind of a bug or something living .... even that would have made me feel better for some strange reason. But these were like some kind of a wire or something. So be warned ... checked very very very carefully the bottom of the pizzas. Hopefully for everybody's sake it was just this time around ..... they didn't do a thorough job of cleaning the oven or something. But if you are going to continue to eat pizzas there, I would be on the safe side and make sure. As for me ... no pizza is that good for me to take another chance! I never bothered to check before so God knows how much of that stuff I have ingested so far!!! read more

Truly mediocre. Paid 30.50 USD for a large kitchen sink. While the pizza is OK, It is nothing special. I love garlic, but every bite of this pizza tastes of overwhelming garlic, and nothing else. I ordered a medium deep dish to be delivered- it cost more than $22 and looked like a sourdough bowl filled with molten cheese. It was impossible to pick up a slice because it was 3" tall and 95% super-hot cheese. Had to serve with a rubber spatula and eat with a fork and knife. This is my go-to pizza place. We usually order delivery about once ever couple weeks. I usually order the Hawaiian or lite combo and Greek salad. I find that their crust is the best out of other local alameda pizza shops. Not too thick, not too thin, crispy on the edges and slightly chewy. I ordered the "kitchen sink," a delightful mix of pizza standards (Italian sausage, pepperoni, onions, mushrooms, etc!). So far I like this better than the Pizza Hut or Papa John's that I am used to. Alright pizza, small place, friendly staff. I brought a kiddo here the other day 'cuz he was craving pizza. We picked this place randomly, as it was the first pizza restaurant we drove by. We came at an odd time, so we were the only ones in the restaurant. We ordered pepperoni pizza, garlic bread, and sodas. The woman who waited on us was very friendly. The garlic bread was a little burnt and there were no garlic chunks, so it must have been some kind of pre-prepared spread or butter and garlic powder. It was alright, nothing special. The pizza arrived and, about halfway through my first slice, I found a hair in the pizza. I'm not one to freak out about that stuff, but it doesn't make a great impression, regardless. The pizza was crazy oily, way more than I've seen at other places...even the teenager I was with was bothered by the grease--that's saying something. They give you forks and knifes, and even a plate you could find in anyones kitchen cabinet. Sauce tastes very sweet (like Heinz Ketchup) and the pizza was (in my best Nor Cal) "Hella greasy dude".. Delivery couldn't find Park Ave. v. Park St. (even though they've been in business in Alameda for 17 years?) and the large pizza was 23 bucks (one topping) with delivery. Overall? Never order from there again. read more

I went here because of the high reviews. The pizza was OK, it wasn't anything to rave about and nothing to go out of my way for. The sauce was good - tasted fresh, not canned. The toppings were not generous at all. They didn't have slices when I went around dinner time, so I had to spend a lot more than I expected to. I realize it's a hole in the wall, but I still expect my food to be clean. The guy who was making the pizza took a wet rag to wipe down the fallen toppings on the work surface onto the pizza he was baking. I love this place! The environment inside the shop gives a very classic feel to it, it's a great hangout spot, especially on evenings. I ended up here because Little Caesar's across the street wouldn't pick up their phone. I forgot what the guy's name is who works here, but he is very cool and easy to talk to. This place deserves a zero for "deep dish." It is a soggy pizza mess with extra dough flipped over where crust should be. No way cooked in a real deep dish pan by competent person. If you have visions of Chicago deep dish like we foolishly did, you will be disappointed. Tasted terrible too and for first time in my life, I did not finish a single piece or eat the crust. First time ordering here delivery wasn't too long abut 40 minutes. The fettuccine pasta was okay , we got one with alfredo sauce , the other marinara. The marinara was sour tasting to us. I got the Kitchen Sink here the other day for lunch. It was decent, but nothing to rave about. The garlic was a lil overpowering. Their pizza is similar to Round Table or Pizza Hut. So the next time I'm craving this kind of pizza I'd probably go to Pizza Hut for their $10 pizzas.
