I love this movie house... I love this movie house ...I cannot say that enough. And it has nothing to do with the movies even though they have a fantastic mix. It's the people. I called them to get some information about when a movie would be shown and the gentleman that helped me gave me more information than I asked for and but it was helpful and needed. Then we went to the theater and we were greeted with a huge smile. Then before the movie started we ordered and the server throughout the movie was the best server. She took care of our needs and even more. Then there was a problem with the billing and I was overcharged accidentally. It happens. How you judge the situation is how was handled. It was handled immediately with grace and respect and I could not have been more pleased. This will be the only theater I ever go to. read more

We bought tickets for Easter to see Hail Mary! Great movie but poor experience. We've been going off and on for the last 7 years and supported when they closed and re opened. First time since they went to scanning QR code for food and drink vs ordering in person or on the sheet of paper. QR code was not easy for us or the other couple we were with. We ordered first and got our drinks last and two separate times . No notification, unless in very small print, that automatic 18% and if you don't close out your tab (not easy) you'll be charged an addition 5%. We sat on the second to back row as we know from the past, the back row does not recline. Our 5 seats in a row did not recline. After the show we talked to the person at the desk and he showed no sympathy or concern for our experience. We asked how we could know what seats in the future do not recline and he said he didn't know . Because there was no concern about our experience, not sure if we will come back again. In addition their bar/ tap room never seems open. When they are the bartenders are fine but just hours not predictable. When a struggling business doesn't care about the customer, why give them return business. read more

I've been to this location before. I'm not sure how long it's been that they've made it web ordering only so this was either an off night or this new system is terrible. When we got there, there was no one at the entry desk. Sign says proceed to your theater if you bought tickets online (cool cool). When we got to our seats 5-10 minutes before the movie start time, it's already dark - so please explain how you're supposed to scan a QR code with your phone in the dark. You can join Alamo WiFi but the web page doesn't immediately pop up when you do. My friend & I had to take turns shining our flashlights for each other so we could scan the QR code to order. Now that we're both on the menu, it takes most of the previews just to place your order. When our drinks came out, they put them both on my tray - what's the point of a food runner if they can't even deliver it to the right seat? BTW - I ordered tea because something in me said a $15.50 margarita isn't going to be worth it no matter how much I wanted one. So then they bring out food & instead of putting it on my tray, he puts the serving dish in my hands - my brother, it's still dark...My friend immediately asks if I ordered wings because she ordered chicken wings. I'm vegan & Alamo has vegan wings on their menu. If I'd ordered wings also she wanted to make sure they didn't give her wings to me. Surprise - they had put her wings in my hands and I ordered a vegan burger. So the movie continues on & I still don't have my food. So let me get out my glasses & my phone again, navigate the ordering app to the Help tab & send a message "where is my food order??" Food finally comes, runner confirms it's the vegan burger. Glad I pawed across the top of my food so I could take out the toothpick in the top of the burger. Does Alamo not have a legal department to tell them sticking a toothpick in a sandwich that someone is going to be eating in the dark might not be the best idea?! So now let's talk about the cashout process. As you're ordering, note that there's an 18% "service fee" automatically added. If you forget to close out your ticket within 20 minutes of the movie ending, they'll add 5% gratuity to your ticket when they close it out ("it all goes to your server!"). So what's the "service fee" for?? Beats me. My friend asked me if it was supposed to be a tip & I said "it is to me!" I'm someone who has worked in the service industry but this was back in the day when I was actually expected to wait on my tables, not be a food runner. My friend and I ended the evening highly annoyed & doubtful if we'll ever be back to another Alamo cinema. If we do, maybe next time we'll just come to see the movie & not order food - if there's no one at the service desk, we may not even need tickets for that. read more

We went for a fun Twilight Movie Party hosted by Alamo- We saw Breaking Dawn Pt 1. What a fun experience and we loved the cool movie themed swag. The theater location is great; right in the mix of Toyota Music Factory. Within walking distance from all the great bars and restaurants. Theater was really clean and seats were awesome. Service was also really great. You can order food/drinks off your phone then during the movie they ask that you write down your order on the provided pen/paper just so you don't disturb others by getting in your phone. Food was great- we ordered way too much, but enjoyed all of it. The popcorn is HUGE but love that they give you a nice bag to take it all home in. Definitely a nice spot for movie dates if you're looking for a place that offers all the fine dining before movie and then drinks after-type of experience! read more

This Alamo location is fancy! It was very clean and spacious. I came here with my friend for the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 movie party. This was my first movie party and it was amazing. The staff were wonderful and friendly, they even offered to take a pic of me and my friend. We had a lot of food to try. We had Popcorn, Chicken Strips with fries, Truffle fries, Pepperoni Jalapeño pizza, Vampire's Kiss Cocktail and Key lime pie dessert. We both enjoyed every item we had, and it was all shared. My favorite item was the pizza, it's was so flavorful and delicious. The Vampire's Kiss cocktail was very good as well, it looked really cool and glittery. I enjoyed the fact that you can order food online and it's brought out to you before the movie. I liked the props pertaining to the movie and the theme cocktail was a nice touch. I definitely want to attend more movie parties at Alamo. read more

Alamo Drafthouse is a regional chain of cinemas that happen to be my go-to location due to its pre-movie show, quality of the food and drink, and location. While it's my favorite theater, it's not for everyone. This updated review focuses on some specific details about the Toyota Music Factory location. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Theater, Food, Return) Atmosphere - First the good - Alamo Drafthouse is rarely crowded and is easy to get to as it's located in the heart of Irving-Las Colinas's Toyota Music Factory. All the seats have recently been upgraded so they fully recline, and you can kick your feet up. There's also a full bar that's open on weekends. The bad? The parking (a TMF issue) can be limited during concert nights. Still the updated chairs and accessible slate of movies overcome those parking issues for me. 1 Star. Service - Heads up, Alamo Drafthouse doesn't have a concession stand. It's a full-service experience, meaning as soon as I sit down, a server will come take my order. No more standing in line and missing the movie, they brought my order directly to me. If I need anything, I just write it on a card, and a server comes out of nowhere to take my order. 1 Star. Theater - Some screens at this location have more seats than others (check online), but the reason I love the Alamo Drafthouse is the pre-movie entertainment. Yes, I enjoy arriving early so I can watch the show. Mind you, these are not movie previews, it is entertaining content related to the main movie. For example, when I watched Transformers One here, they showed the old school Transformer toy commercials FROM JAPAN on screen. The screen and sound are adequate (other theaters are better), but nothing beats the pre-movie entertainment. Plus, arriving early allows me to get settled into my seat and place my food and drink order. Because Drafthouse is in the name, there are plenty of beers to choose from. Alamo also has movie themed food, and it's good. The bottomless movie popcorn with clarified butter is a must order. The one downside is there are limited bathrooms. So, if you see a big movie opening weekend, expect a line if you need to use the bathroom after the movie. Still, this is the best movie to see EXPERIENCE out there. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. Now that COVID is way behind us, I find myself going to the movies a few times a month. Alamo has $7 tickets on Tuesday, so there's always a reason for me to come back. Once I sat at my seat, staff promptly checked if I had a valid ticket and took my initial order. My drink arrived almost immediately, while my food order arrived 20 minutes later, just as the trailers started. On the other hand, my dessert order was a bit of a hassle. I placed the order slip in the holder about 80 minutes before the movie ended. It was untouched for almost 30 minutes before it was eventually picked up. As it was close to when tabs close, I assume the staff do a last-minute sweep to check for orders. For a required 18% gratuity, I expected better service. On a positive note, the dining experience was pleasant. The tray rotates nearly 135 degrees, enabling me to enjoy my meal without leaning forward from my seat. read more

For starters, my wife was given almost $200 in gift cards for Alamo for cancer gifts and now that she can finally go, they are no longer are taking their own cards from when they were closed down for a short time. I'd love to be able to love this Alamo Drafthouse but they make it so difficult. First and foremost the location within Toyota Music Factory is not the best place for a movie theater. Especially on event nights, traffic and parking is too much to deal with just to see a movie. Ticket prices are also higher than other theaters, made even worse due to the "tourism tax" (I guess?) since it's located within TMF. Ends up over 18% in taxes for your tickets if bought at the box office. Even more if booking ahead on the app. This tax (or "service charge" as they call it) also carry's over to the bar and food, only now it ends up being nearly 28% in taxes. By the time you give the 20+% tip, we're talking nearly 50% of taxes, fees, tip. A positive is their great selection of beers reasonably priced for "theater beer" at $6.50 - $9 a pint. I'd really like to be able to go here more often but there are equally good choices MUCH easier on the wallet not much further away. read more

Went to see a special screening that was only showing at this location. Turns out the screening was the same night as a concert in the same complex, so there were lots of road and parking lot blockages. We ended up in a parking garage that was primarily for the concert goers and there were no spaces available even all the way at the very top. So that made us late to the movie even tho we were 10 minutes early. To add insult to injury, the handful of parking spaces in front of the theater were empty bc the roads leading to them were blocked. They should not be booking special screenings at this location on the same nights as concerts. Or at least have a screening at a different location too so people have the option so go somewhere where parking isn't such a hot mess. I ordered a salad with chicken for my meal. Ever since they switched serving plates, their portions have gotten a lot smaller. The chicken was decent but it didn't seem to contain much on the greens end. So that added to the disappointment. Overall I only went here for the special screening but I'd think twice before going to this location again. read more

Told the server when I came in that I had a gift card. She asked for my card to run a tab but I told her that I planned to use the gift card. She never returned. I had to wait until the movie was over, luckily found her so she could charge the gift card instead of my credit card. Then had to ask her for proof the gift card was charged in case my bank account gets debited. She's like 'oh..you want proof?' Um, yeah especially since you're taking the gift card from me. I think she was a little...high. Movie was great, food was meh. I was happy though because I'd been waiting a LONG time to see the movie I saw, so my judgment is a bit off. But it was a great movie. Came in on a Tuesday to watch a movie and have dinner. We arrived early so we could put in our food order before the movie, but had to find someone at the bar to place our order. Understandable, they basically had 2 staff members. The biggest issue was how loud the theater was. While the trailers were playing, we noticed everything was very loud, and then the second the movie started it was unbearable. Went to the check-in counter and complained. The girl said she'd tell the manager. 10 min go by, no difference, and when we approached the manager he said "we've already turned the sound down once today in that theater, it's just a loud movie". And here's the kicker... we were the only ones in the theater. I don't know how much effort goes into turning down the sound, but for being the only ones in there, why couldn't it be done? I downloaded a decibel meter app just so I could show the manager how loud it was at the end, but couldn't find him. From the time I could use it, there was a max of 103 dB. The sound equivalent of a jet flyover at 100 feet. Unless you want to bust your eardrums, go to another Alamo. read more

About 20-30 mins had passed when we got just 1 water from a different server. I again asked for 2, never got it. Some time passes and I start to notice everybody getting their food that they ordered. Ours still hasn't arrived so I decided to give it some time since everybody is putting in their orders at different times. About an hour into the movie, no food and no 2nd water. I had to get up out of my seat and miss parts of the movie just to go find someone who worked at the front to explain the situation. About 15 mins later we got our food. Never saw either server again until they dropped off the check. I'm sorry, but for $18/ticket and an already included service fee I should've at least been reimbursed for something. I expected better and would not have tipped if it wasn't already applied. read more

I'm of the opinion that the best way to watch a movie is in a theater, and the best theater to do that in is the Alamo Drafthouse. There's just something about Alamo that makes the moviegoing experience better ... and my husband and I were excited to introduce some family members to this extra special theater for a showing of "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse." We purchased tickets online the day before for a 6:10 movie, and paid attention to the website's direction that it's best to arrive 30 minutes early. I had never been to this particular location before, but can see how this spot could get very busy during a concert at the Toyota Music Factory. I appreciate that Alamo doesn't play ads before the movie, but instead tailors its previews to the movie that you're about to see. We loved the throwback Spider-Man comics and cartoons, and the brief history lessons about some of the characters we were about to meet. We shared a few things for dinner, including the buffalo chicken pizza, the buffalo cauliflower, and the chicken tenders. They were unfortunately out of the "I Want All of You" pretzel, so we settled for their regular soft pretzel, which was still quite tasty. The chicken tenders were particularly delicious - crispy, hot, and well-seasoned. We also liked the buffalo cauliflower, but found the pizza to be a miss. The crust was too thin for the sheer amount of toppings piled onto each slice, and didn't really work as a handheld. Even still, our service was great - and all of our food came out just as the movie was starting. I'll continue to hold Alamo in the highest regard as far as movie theaters are concerned - and can't wait to check out another location soon! read more

Alamo has spoiled me and now I have trouble going to other theaters. -I love the videos they show before the previews. Before superhero movies, you can see funny short videos. -They are very good about enforcing the rules so I get to enjoy the movie in peace. In general once the previews begin, no one talks. -The theater is usually fairly clean. -They have special showings for people who want to make noise during the movie (sing alongs, baby day to watch with babies, etc.). -Sometimes I go to other movie theaters with better seats (reclining, pairs, etc.) and better food. Other theaters are stepping up their food options & Alamo's menu is getting less and less exciting. If you go often, you'll probably find a safe, go-to option and stick with it. read more

This cinema is in a very cool complex connected to the Music Factory in Las Colinas. The box office is totally automated, touch screens and is right there as soon as you enter. You can pre-order your tickets and pick them up there. Pick your seats and all the things you can do at any other theatre. They have an elevator to get up to the main floor. What was amazing was there was no one taking tickets, you just walked right to your theatre, it was convenient, smooth and just relaxing with no hassle what so ever. The actually theaters are very cool, you have a table with a light to read the menu. The service was really good, they take your way of payment before you order that way you aren't dealing with it during the best part of the movie (the end) and their menu is full of lots of very tempted entrees, shareable and beers. Their beer list was great, I recommend the Oak Leaf, it was quality. The only down side is the seats down recline, but they are still crazy comfortable and you have a lot of space. So sit back, relax and enjoy your shot at the Alamo Drafthouse. And after relax in their Drafthouse right on property with around 40 beers on tap and a super cool roof top terrace that overlooks the square. It's really the only movie theater I can think of where I would actually hang out after the movie is over. Love the concept and hope to see more and more like these around. read more

I feel bad writing this since this used to be my favorite movie theater location, but after the reopening peak it is starting to go downhill. Although the food has been good and their servers have been friendly, I've had continued issues with some of my favorite policies at this movie theater not being well enforced. Part of why I used to love this theater is their noise policy. I recently went to a screening of Jurassic World where kids were talking next to me constantly to the point where I had to raise a card twice. I tried not to be a prude, but part of why I pay a higher fee to go here is to enjoy movies in what is supposed to be a quiet respectful movie experience. I also recently went to see Superman and the couple next to me were smoking a weed pen and making jokes throughout the whole movie, including through all of the serious moments, and the staff walked past numerous times and said nothing. That was really the final straw for me. I'm genuinely disappointed and will start going elsewhere. read more

I really wish the service was better, I love the idea of Alamo and the first few times I went it was good. Me and my friend arrived just as the movie was about to start so we ordered on the paper slip. After about 30 minutes of it being up and nobody checking I got up to go to the front about finding help to get drinks. They said they would radio someone just didn't seem urgent about it, just went back to talking with fellow coworkers. My friend then went out at over an hour to find someone heard the same thing. Finally when a server came by an hour and a half into the movie we got up to hand it to them. We then finally received our stuff with like 25 minutes left in the movie and hit with an auto gratuity. I used to be a manager of a movie theater so I understand holidays are busy and it's all hands on deck but it was like we couldn't find anyone to help or even care. Not a manager in sight. You think if a customer complains they would be made aware. I think Alamo needs to rethink some of its procedures to better improve the customer experience. Someone should have been checking for tickets for the first part of the movie and when we had to get up 3 times someone in management should have been notified. read more

Loved the movie we saw but it was in no way worth the large amount of money we paid to see it at Alamo Drafthouse. The food is mediocre and it's impossible to flag down a waiter to correct your order when it inevitably gets messed up. The food was also not as advertised (for example: Goat Cheese Chicken wrap came with a different type of lettuce, no goat cheese, and no dressing -- and our waiter never came back to fix it!) Drinks and food were slow (despite asking multiple times for waters and dressing, they never came) and the chairs don't extend all the way. However, they have a large selection of alcohol and food which is admirable as long as you order the right thing (I suggest getting pizza as it is hard to mess up). I was intrigued by the paper and pen system of ordering, but once the movie starts, the waiters rarely come by to check the order paper, so I feel an electronic pager system would be better. My only complaint is that the seats don't recline despite being recliners. However, they are still pretty comfy--I'm just nitpicking. I think they must be short staffed because today it took over 90 minutes to get my pizza when others who ordered before me got their pizza after 30 minutes. I left theatre to find an employee to correct my order and no employee was around so I spent more than 15 minutes wondering around looking for someone to tell. I actually really enjoyed my experience at Alamo Drafthouse. I purchased my movie tickets online and proceeded to make my way to the theatre. It was a very simple process. The first thing I noticed was how clean everything was from the bathrooms to the actual theatre. Unfortunately, they do not have reclining chairs yet, which is a major downfall for me because I felt uncomfortable sitting upright after awhile. The experience was great overall. You literally don't have to worry about anything except for deciding what you want to eat/drink and then writing it down. The staff was really friendly. I ate dinner before watching my movie so I am unable to speak on how everything tasted, but I did take a peek at the menu. They offer a variety of different items and if you are calorie conscious, there are a lot things on the menu that have the estimated calorie count next to the item. I did order a sugar free red bull & it was brought out to me shortly. I must say, it was a little distracting having the staff members frequently walking around during the movie. Of course, I understand they are simply doing their job in taking orders, delivering food, and collecting payments but it was distracting nonetheless. Lastly, I really like how structured Alamo is. I can sense they are big on providing a quality experience and it shows in the way in which they maintain the place and treat their customers. I bought a groupon and ended up coming here for under $7 - score! It was my first time coming to the Alamo and I'm open to it not being my last. Though the theater was nice and clean, the staff swell, and parking not too shabby, the menu was way overpriced and the seats didn't recline (took me a while to realize it wasn't gonna happen). Since I was treating myself, I did go ahead and order 3 chocolate chip cookies (minimum) a la mode (extra), which cost me around $10 minus tip. Sadly, my cookies were a little overdone and not as chewy as I'd like. My vanilla bean ice cream was top notch though. The waiter was very helpful and came by during the previews to inform me how the ordering process worked. He was very discreet as to not interrupt movie viewing while still doing his job and being alert to patrons in the theater wanting to order. The view upstairs overlooking the Toyota Music Factory is quite beautiful. The area is lovely and the vibes were all good here, so I'm definitely still digging the Alamo. I just think if the menu is going to be highly priced, the quality needs to match. read more

I went to Alamo for a brunch screening as a date and it was lovely. The facility was clean and well-kept, the staff was friendly, and the food was good. If you are smart about which screenings you buy for, ticket prices are very reasonable. Dinner theaters are all about the experience, and this was a very good one. I like that they have special screenings of classic movies, so I'll be back when they show any of my old favorites! read more

Went here for the first time today and had an okay experience overall! My friend and I got the buttered popcorn which was delicious, the warmed chocolate chip cookies which were a little too cooked and the pizza - angry version which was not as spicy as we thought it would be. We got there a little early and was surprised by the vibes of the theater. It was a little old fashioned and we wished the seats would recline more but the desks were cute and the paper to write our orders was one of a kind! Our waiter was so friendly and so quick but we were not a fan of people walking during the movie! read more

I enjoyed the cleanliness of the theatre but the food service was extremely delayed and customer service could be improved. I placed my order at the beginning of the movie and received it in the last 10 minutes of the showing. I felt myself having to rush through my food since the movie was towards the end. In terms of customer service, the waitresses didn't ask my group of 3 whose food was who. They simply placed the food in front of the nearest person to the wall and kept walking. We had to figure it out and switch the plates around. I understand many theatre locations may not have enough staff to accommodate for customer needs but communication is necessary whenever there are delays. Thank you. read more

the concept is good i enjoy other establishments of this brand but the service here was awful. our server forgot about pretty much the entire theater. we asked for a refill on drinks and food and didn't receive one for over an hour afterwards, even after going to ask the host at the front about where our server was. the food wasn't good either; no sauce on my salad, more bread than sandwich. the 18% gratuity is something i understand but if you are going to grat tickets, the service needs to be on par with the price. my total was over $100 and i felt like it should have been half of that. we also noticed that people who arrived after us, were served and helped before us. when asked , they said it's because they are busy. as a server, that shouldn't matter. first in first out applies to tickets as well. they got refills, food before we even got drinks, and they arrived 20 minutes afterwards. overall not a good experience with the service at all. i don't think i would return to this location anytime in the near future. read more

I have to say I hate to be the first one to review this place because I feel the theater will get better the longer it is open. We went to the soft opening on Friday and it had only had its doors open since Tuesday. There were definitely some kinks the wait staff still need to work out so in understanding that I gave them an extra star instead of just two. But here are a few things we didn't like and wish we would've known beforehand. 1.) The theater recommends you be there at least an hour early so you can sit in your seat early and order early. However, there is no place outside the theater rooms to sit and wait and nothing to do other than go to the bar. The stairs take you straight up to the theaters and it is rather awkward. We just stood around in the narrow hall outside the theater. 2.) only the very front row has seats that recline all the way. I feel the website is misleading. The rest of the seats recline approximately 3-5 inches back. 3.) they said if you park in the parking garage they will validate your parking and call it "Free" well it is not free. They only validate for 2 hours total. Most movies are that much in length if not longer, then you count the 30 min they suggest you be there early, then the walk to and from the parking garage. We ended up paying for two extra hours. 4.) I am on crutches and we do not like front row. We asked how many stairs there were for each row. Two staff members both told us one stair per row. You pre-order tickets so I decided I could at least get up 4 stairs. Well there is actually 4 stairs per row so I climbed 16 stairs. With the theater being packed and seats being pre- chosen I kind of just had to deal with it. I decided at that point I wouldn't drink with my meal because there was no way I was getting g up stairs twice 5.) this is not your typical movie theater that offers both concession food and order from your seat food. This is order from your seat only. There is a popcorn and 4-5 choices of candy and that is it when it comes to normal movie food.
