BLUF: it's a nice, casual night out, the cast members work their butts off, and the food is mediocre I went with a large group for a Saturday night show. Up front understand there are two aspects to this review: the food and the show. So consider the details more than the stars. The Show: good, entertaining, and a nice comfortable night out for not a huge price tag. The cast members are also servers, so they really work hard all night, and you can kind of get to know them on a personal level. The downside is that there is no service while the show is on. Recognize the show for what it is: a local show with local cast. Is everyone great? No. Does everyone clearly give their all? Yes. Are there some standouts? For sure. We saw Footloose and the main female characters sounded amazing in harmony. The owner does kind of a hard sell for tipping at the start, which is kind of off putting, but I get why he did it (to support and look out for his cast/servers). So I took that with a grain of salt and yes, we did tip. The Food: not so great. Not bad, but pretty much cafeteria-level food, served buffet-style, with fixed portions. I posted the menu with this review, but also included are a small house salad to start and a small piece of yellow cake for dessert. The salad was a pretty good, typical salad, although they go VERY light on the dressing. The main course was okay, the fish being the biggest disappointment. It looked like they had kept it warm on a steam table, so the batter was mushy instead of crispy. The cake was actually pretty tasty. Water, coffee and iced tea are included. You can buy cocktails as well, and those who got one liked them. If you are vegetarian, or especially if you are vegan, look carefully at the menu and plan accordingly. We had a vegan ask for another salad since she could eat so little of the food, and was told no b/c they make exactly the number of salads as there are seats each night. Again, I get it. They can't send back to the kitchen for another salad, because nobody is in the kitchen anymore, as the cast/servers are all out front serving.

Food was good. Served/performers were awesome. An awesome production of Frozen. It's a must see.

Outstanding performances from local talent. Just saw Misery tonight and so enjoyed the performance. As always the staff was great along with the dinner. Washington County Playhouse is a gem here in Hagerstown.

Our young friends had such fun seeing The Ugly Duckling at The Washington County Playhouse and Children's Theatre!

Overcharging for minimal entertainment, and terrible food. Overall, they out of touch with their customer base.

Usually you feel so rushed at these dinner/shows but we had plenty of time. The food was very good and there were choices that should have made everyone happy. I cannot say enough good things about this performance!! We absolutely enjoyed it. None of us had ever been to a Murder Mystery before so we were ready for something new! The 2 Cast members were amazing! They kept us entertained and laughing the entire time! At the intermission, they have coffee/tea and desert at the same time. We appreciated this because you're always too full to eat desert with dinner but this gave everyone plenty of time to be ready for the delightful carrot cake they provided. The 2 Stars also stood around after the event to talk to everyone and take pictures! I highly, highly recommend this event! What made it even more special was that I was able to take my 15-year-old also!

After that, I have to say things went off the rails a bit. For a start, this is the first "theatre" that had no stage. Not a small stage, no stage at all. We found ourselves, a group of 30-40 people crammed into a large room on the second floor with barely any room in July with AC so weak it was never below 76F. Then the show began. I was expecting a curtain to rise and a stage to appear, but sadly all the story and acting was done between the tables. I will say the acting ranged from surprisingly good to the obviously inispired acting of the audience members who decided to join in. The story was comedic and easy to follow, with references to Sherlock Holmes and even Indiana Jones. Sadly the heat and the terrible location without a stage made it hard to enjoy when the cast is constantly moving around. If they get a proper venue, I am sure they do wonderful things, but this was more like a test run. That I paid for.

They don't recommend for kids/teens, because people are joking and talking ish and some of the improv could take a spicy turn at any moment. The chef and the actors walk around to the tables and introduce themselves. People come here to let out a laugh and unwind. The Food: Delicious! The crab cake sandwich was big/fresh all lumps with crispy hot fries that did not disappoint. The package comes with several options, from homestyle meat loaf to Mediterranean salad with chicken stuffed pita that my friend said was really good. You get 2 courses and a non-alcohol beverage. Dessert was good, a dark fudge cake with strawberries and whipped cream, enjoyable. The Drinks: The 2 martini's I had weren't blended well. I would stick with wine or something like a rum & coke. The Storyline: Creative and funny, about a dating show where the two contestants need to stay together for 3 years to get the million-dollar jackpot. Only issue, there's a love triangle. So, you can imagine who all had motives to secure the bag. They bring the audience into the story with question prompts and even had me in the hot seat for questioning by a detective. So hilarious! Looking for something different to do and you feel like meeting people over good food and theater, THIS IS IT!

The show was full of humor and some double-entendres. The restaurant was a little chilly so where something a little heavier or bring a coat. Best 3.5 hours I've spent in a while and totally worth the ticket price. The whole show takes place in and around the diners making for an up close and personal experience.
