It has been years since I have brought my family to Toby's. This particular time, this was a trip organized by my daughter's Girl Scout troop. We came to the evening show of The Little Mermaid. The theater was under renovation on the outside however, it looks exactly as I remembered it inside. The food is traditional buffet style which is just ok~ nothing special. My alcoholic drink tastes like cough medicine. The wait staff is the actors and actresses in the show so they are really busy trying to prepare for the show. The show was great. I love musicals with all theatrics and singing. My suggestions would be to provide additional support to the servers especially during the show. Revamp the entire buffet menu to include some buffet options and made to order options like sandwiches/wraps, burgers, fries, Caesar salads. I would love to return after the full renovations are completed. There is plenty of parking which is a huge plus.

Amazing event and wow such great music "ROCK OF AGES "hats off to all!!! Place is very dated but will soon have a new place which is under construction as we speak and I'm sure will be even better!! As for food/buffet style was just ok

The performance was good went to see the wizard of OZ . Now the food was horrible please do a better job it was tasteless. I would come back just for the show but can there be an option to skip the food and not to be charged.

Toby's is celebrating 45 years and I hope they celebrate many more years. There are not that many places doing dinner theatres anymore. You can arrive as early as 5:30 p.m. even though the website says the doors open at 6:00 p.m. When we arrived at 6:00 p.m. and there were already people seated and in line for the buffet. Once you check in, you will be seated and told to wait for someone to tell you when you can get up for the buffet line. However, you can almost immediately go to the salad bar after placing your drink orders. Only water, tea, and coffee are included. Tea can be unsweetened iced tea. Your table is called based on when you arrive to the theatre. There is a little bit of a wait but not too much. Plenty of options. Veggie options include: white corn, green beans, spinach, potatoes, cole slaw, salad, cheese and crackers. Seafood items include shrimp and fish. Other meat choices include: carved beef, ham, fried chicken, and ribs. Desserts include ice cream sundae, chocolate cake, and cheesecake. The food was typical. The fried chicken wasn't really fried. When I see fried chicken, I think crispy fried skin. The skin was not that. There was definitely plenty of food. I was disappointed that the ice cream came in styrofoam bowls. We had actual dishes and utensils during our entire meal. Styrofoam takes 500 years to decompose. For the entertainment, we watched the Jersey Boys. I was very impressed that they were able to do a production in the middle of the theatre where the buffet line was stationed. Everything was on wheels -- the buffet stations and the props used in the production. Excellent stage hands that seamlessly changed the sets from one scene to the next. Everything was used to immerse you in the production. They made good use of the different levels of the stage such as stairs that led up to a second level at three areas of the room. There were also multiple entrances. It didn't matter where you sat in the theatre, the actors turned to every section during their performance. I have seen Jersey Boys before a the National Theatre in D.C. It was a great production with awesome singing. I didn't get that level here. It felt slow as the show started but it did pick up later. Costumes were very nice. You almost didn't notice that many of the actors played multiple characters. I will say that this was a long night. We arrived at 6:00 p.m. and the show ended at 10:55 p.m. We sat in dining room chairs for 5 hours and those seats were not comfortable. If I come again, I will be bringing a back pillow. Also, note that the noise level is extremely high during dinner. It was very hard to have a conversation without raising one's voice. Parking: They have a good size private lot which is a good when there are events at the Merriwether. Traffic was heavy coming off Rt. 29 due to an event and we were worried about parking but was glad to see that they have their own parking lot.

My wife and I absolutely love Toby's. How fortunate we are to live near one of the few remaining dinner theatres that run musicals instead of some kind of cheesy fixed show. Their talent works hard to wait on tables, as well as performing their hearts out. The talent is excellent and while production values are strong given their resources. The food...well, it's good. The adult drinks are well-mixed and generous. And of course, we enjoy seeing theatre-in-the-round. Being around fellow theatre-goers is fun, too. Thank you for being there.

Jersey Boys was incredible! Broadway quality for the acting and singing. There's so much food. The earlier you get there the earlier you can get called for the buffet. There an once cream buffet and cake as well. Coffee and water are included. Bring cash to tip. The waiters are the actors and they are so nice.

I've been here a few times and always had wonderful experiences! I've seen Cats, Pirates of Penzance, Shrek, and most recently, we celebrate our anniversary watching The Chorus Line! Buffet is always served first, which comes with bread, salad, and hot meal options of carved turkey, beef roast, chicken, fish, and vegetables. My favorite is the beef roast, and cheesy spinach casserole. I also like that they have alcohol and mock tails served in a souvenir glass with the play's logo, very fun to collect! The service is amazing! The performers bring out the drinks, and the pre show host recognizes guesses celebrating birthdays and anniversaries. The plays are in the middle of the stage, so there are no bad seats. This is a great place to see a great show and have a nice dinner. Especially for special celebrations. We look forward to come back soon, in March to see The Beauty and the Beast!

Loved our experience at this dinner theatre! Supposedly this is the only dinner theater left in the DMV area and I can see why! When you arrive, someone escorts you to your table that you are sharing with others. You are invited to the buffet and then share a meal together with your table. Then, the show begins! It was very well executed and I loved being "on the floor" right next to all the activity! The props were solid and the singing was fantastic. It was such a fun night!

We had a GREAT time here watching Grease. It reminds me of the 80s in a positive way when buffets were popular. They have a simple salad bar for starters and then a hot bar and dessert bar. The hot bar had two meats and a fish and I think shrimp. They had several veggies and pasta dishes, so something for everyone. My favorite was the white rice and fish along with the green beans and spinach and cheese. I passed on the desert but did but their signature mocktale, pink lady. It was sooo good!

The crab cake sandwich was big/fresh all lumps with crispy hot fries that did not disappoint. The package comes with several options, from homestyle meat loaf to Mediterranean salad with chicken stuffed pita that my friend said was really good. You get 2 courses and a non-alcohol beverage. Dessert was good, a dark fudge cake with strawberries and whipped cream, enjoyable. The Drinks: The 2 martini's I had weren't blended well. I would stick with wine or something like a rum & coke. The Storyline: Creative and funny, about a dating show where the two contestants need to stay together for 3 years to get the million-dollar jackpot. Only issue, there's a love triangle. So, you can imagine who all had motives to secure the bag. They bring the audience into the story with question prompts and even had me in the hot seat for questioning by a detective. So hilarious! HARK! A TALE OF VALOR, FEASTING, AND GLORY!…read more 'Twas our first journey to Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament, and from the very moment we crossed the castle gates, we were utterly blown away! How a man can journey from a shopping mall in Baltimore and, mere moments later, find himself standing before a mighty castle, I know not. We were assigned to House Black & White, and naturally, we had but one duty: to stand at the tip of the spear and make our house heard throughout the realm! And by the King's beard, the feast did not disappoint! The dragon was prepared with great skill and was absolutely delicious. Our server, Julian, was a true champion of the realm and absolutely killed it from beginning to end. Then came the tournament... WHAT. A. SHOW. If I had to describe it to a commoner, I would say: WWE + Game of Thrones = MEDIEVAL TIMES. Jousting, sword fighting, horses, knights, drama, action, and enough excitement to keep the entire castle roaring. Our knight fought with honor, integrity, and bravery, and he had House Black & White fired up like we were preparing to storm the gates ourselves! Alas... House Black & White fell short of victory. But our knight fought valiantly, and we made certain the entire castle knew exactly which house stood behind him. We were encouraged to be the loudest house in the castle, and by the end of the night, I believe we gave it our absolute best. I walked through those gates wondering whether the ticket price would truly be worth it. I walked out wondering: "How in the heck do they make a profit putting THIS much into a show?" The actors. The horses. The food. The costumes. The sets. The production. The action. It is absolutely packed with entertainment from start to finish, and it's one hell of a way to spend a couple of hours with family and friends. I went in not knowing what to expect and left already thinking about when we could do it again. In fact... Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, may soon have a visit from House Black & White. If you've never been, GO WATCH THE SHOW! You shall not be disappointed. 10/10. Would feast, cheer, and battle again. Now, if you'll excuse me, I must return to my kingdom and await the next tournament.

I upgraded VIP to the front of the row so that we could be close to the action, which also included a "VIP" lanyard. There were a number of upgrades available. We came in and were greeted by a pleasant person at the door, presented our ticket, and given a hat and banner for the section we were placed in (they have five different colored sections). Once in, they have an assortment of items available for purchase before the show starts. Souvenirs, photos, costumes, adult drinks and nonalcoholic ones as well. They make an announcement before the show starts of which door to stand in front of according to your section color. Once, the doors open, you are ushered to your area and seated. The show was great featuring knights, kings, queens, falcons, dancing horses, jousting competitions, sword fights, and the usual good versus evil trope. Between segments the food is served. The food, served renaissance style (no cutlery, you can request), consisted of an appetizer of tomato soup with garlic bread; main course of a quarter baked chicken, half a roasted potato, and corn on the cob; and a dessert of mini chocolate eclairs. They have substitute meal options available (inquire before show). The food was very good, except the mini eclair for me. They have unlimited soft drink refills. They also have staff that come around selling upgraded banners, lighted swords for the kids, photos, and adult beverages. The entire staff were pleasant and accommodating. They also have a segment of the show where they adorn the bell of that area and I was chosen! They give you a sash and you can have your picture taken for a fee...I just had one of the people I was with take mine for free! All in all, the four star rating stands and Medieval Times is perfect for a group, family, birthday, anniversary, family, or couples outing.

I honestly want to rate it higher but the tickets were approximately $70 per person which is comparable to the other similar options. The food is the serious shortfall. This is the second year in a row it's been disappointing. The ham was like a lunch meat style ham cut into slices. They also had a white fish in a hollandaise type sauce which was okay. The sides were mashed potatoes (no gravy) , buttery carrots, and a broccoli & cheese dish. You also get a small salad and rolls with butter. It isn't a buffet as you are served in a cafeteria type line. They offer seconds if you're so inclined. But honestly it's kind of like hospital food. We had to eat on the way home and that's pretty disappointing considering the cost. It pails in comparison to Toby's or Ditch Apple theatre. There was people all around us mumbling about the food or lack there of including a grandmother who told her 10 year or so grandchild that she'd be taking him to McDonalds afterwards. Finally, a guy at a table close went outside to smoke his weed 4 times during the evening. So the 4 older couples around him had to endure the unpleasant odor.
