I rented from here for my visit. I used the app for easy checkin, to skip the line. I must say the app needs to be updated. It says for terminal 2 to go to the counter for your keys, but that's wrong, you just go to the car area. No one from Alamo was here so I dealt with enterprise, which was such an awesome experience! The woman showed me the 10+ cars to choose from (mid size sedan) and let me pick whatever I wanted. She explained that I take it to the exit area, show them my drivers license and that's it. On my way out, me and the guy chit chat, and I mentioned I'm used to driving a truck. He told me I could get a truck if I wanted, and keep the same price!!! I was ecstatic!! He backed the car up behind me and I parked and grabbed the truck. They have so many new vehicles at this place! It was a 2025 4x4 F150. It was the only truck I seen, and it was so nice to drive it around. He gave me a card showing the address I need to do the drop off for, based on my airline I'm flying out on. This made things super easy when doing the return!! This was probably the best experience I've had at a rental car place! read more

Rented a vehicle from here and glad that I did, as this experience was, easy in and easy out!!! I loved that the young lady who walked me to an island of vehicles gave me the option to pick whichever vehicle that I wanted, as she was providing me with a free upgrade! ‍ The entire process was awesome and worth the price paid! (Considering all of the rate increases) I will rent from here again, as long as, the process of getting a vehicle is as smooth as this process was. I have always used Budget car rental and have always been happy with them. This time, I chose to use Alamo because I got a good rate. Well, never again! When I arrived, I was told they might not have the SUV size that I reserved. If that were the case, then I would need to pay $10 extra for a larger SUV. At last, she found an SUV size that I reserved. (I should not be required to pay extra because they did not have the SUV I reserved). When I picked up the SUV, she showed me how to connect my phone to the navigation. That was all. I never received any paperwork and she didn't even have a map. She didn't go over the car features. (I was there for a memorial service and was running on a tight schedule so I let it go). The SUV was awful. The navigation stopped working so I had to use my phone the whole time. When on the freeway, the steering wheel would suddenly move left then right really fast. This felt frightening! When I stopped at a light, I thought the car was dying on me. It moved when I stepped on the gas though. I had trouble unlocking the car door. One time when I got in, the SUV wouldn't start. Suddenly, the alarm went off. I finally got it to stop and was eventually able to start It. I never knew what would be next to go wrong. Upon returning the car the next morning, I spoke with one of the managers. He told me the steering wheel jerked because it was the lane change warning. Wrong! I was in my lane each time. He apologized for the employee not going over the car features with me and tried to get me a $75 credit. He had trouble figuring this out so put the charge through and promised to contact me later that day once he figured it out. Well, that was Sunday morning. Today is Tuesday morning and I have not heard from him. Very Poor Agency. I do not recommend them, at least the one at the Minneapolis airport. I wish you luck if you do use them. read more

I'd give it less stars if I could. This was by far the worst rental car experience I've ever had. I will NOT be renting from them again. When I showed up the girl was trying to charge me more saying she gave me a better vehicle. I told her I want what I agreed to when I made the reservation online. Went to get the car and had trouble with not only the car seat that was in bad condition but the buckles of the car had been pushed so far down in the seat I hurt my hand getting them out. I couldn't get any help because the attendant just took off. Tried to call customer service so they could tell the attendant to come back out but all they could do is send a message to the location and hope they come out. Once in the vehicle almost an hour later trying to leave I had to wait 10 minutes because of a shift change. The guy felt bad and told me he'd wave the fuel fees when I returned. When returning the vehicle the nightmare continued The guy told me to leave the vehicle. I asked if it showed the fuel charge being waived he said "Yeah it's fine" then as I sat down for my flight I saw a charge of over $100 more than it should have been for the rental. They charged me for not only the fuel but for the car seat!! The car seat was barely used by me and in the vehicle when I returned it!! These money hungry incompetent jerks deserve no business!!! Do not rent from Alamo.I pre paid and when at the reservation desk, I was told there would be a $400.00 deposit on the same credit card. I had insufficient funds to cover the deposit,refused using another credit card, cancelled the reservation and returned home, trip cancelled.Told I would receive a full refund in seven business days, not true.After contacting customer service, I was told that I would be charged another $100.00 for cancelling a pre paid reservation.I received credit fourteen days later, minus the $100,00. read more

Alamo maintains separate service desks at MSP's Lindbergh and Humphrey Terminals. The last time I rented here, my Southwest flight landed after Midnight and their Humphrey desk was closed. In that case, Gayle and I had to schlep all the way the the light rail line that separates the Terminal and without any help from Alamo. The MSP signage left a bit to be desired, and having a couple "not in service" trains pass by at this late hour was not welcome. There were a bunch of us in this boat, which included the long multi-level walk once we arrived in Lindbergh, and a long line at the that desk. It was clear that the lone Alamo staff person had seen this rodeo before and did the best she could. Gayle contributed by intervening with me during key frustrations. The car itself was fine and I know how to play Alamo's insurance and inspection "game". I also asked to see the manager when I returned who was sympathetic enough and didn't know that past-midnight customers were being made to figure out on their own how to get to Lindbergh. Whether anything became of this in terms of better customer service? Who knows. read more

As a former consultant, I have been around the block a few times when it comes to renting a car. First get through the line, then decline all the additional coverage as I'm already covered through my own auto insurance. I thought everything was going fine until I declined the additional $25 per day insurance that totally covers the vehicle. No thanks I say. Her response was, 'good luck taking your chances on that one'. When asked what she just said, she ignored me and kept tying away on her computer. As I did not want to make a scene, I ignored it, got my paperwork, and left. Not sure if the employees have insurance quotas they need to fill, but I would never had thought that declining insurance coverage would invoke such a response from any employee! Hope this particular employee finds a job where it's a little more acceptable to be rude to people, maybe at a collections agency? read more

Heading out of town on a camping trip.. I rented a vehicle, hoping for a Ford Edge as it is the vehicle on my short list to purchase in the coming months. I reserved via Costco Travel weeks ahead. When I arrived, the counter person was helpful but not all that pleasant.. upon entering the garage, I met John Williams.. what a kind wonderful soul.. looking to assist in any way possible. He is truly a gem.. the perfect face of a company.. kind, pleasant, helpful.. and very knowledgeable. He went to painstaking lengths to find the Ford Edge for me to ensure my trip was perfect.. and to allow me the opportunity to drive the Edge before purchasing.. Here's what you need to know: easy entry and exit. Lot is right there in the airport, and there were no lines on a Sat around 11. AMAZING SERVICE BY NADIA. What a joy to deal with and such a cheerful person. Nadia greeted us so warmly, made us laugh with her humor, explained he rental process, and was just amazing at all things customer service. She never tried to oversell but we went with her recommendation (for a very very reasonable price). She is truly an asset to Alamo, and my family and I truly appreciated her. I found out the hard way why nobody was in line at Alamo and why there were many in line at the competition. If you decide to gamble with Alamo, be careful what you sign! I verbally declined insurance and they put it on the agreement anyway. I returned home to a $300+ bill for insurance I had no need for! (I have had comprehensive insurance for last 5 years). In retrospect I realized had been in a rush and quickly initialed all areas. Had I realized they were not a trustworthy company, but that they were looking to make a quick buck, I would have read through everything. Their mistake (or intentional error) caused me to make a mistake. They never did anything to work with me, all they cared about was they had my initials on the paperwork, they never cared about me as a customer. I disputed the incident and asked for them to review the camera footage. They never called me back. The general manager was supposed to call me before putting the charge through, he never called and they just put the charge through. I reached out to the corporate office, never heard back. Save yourself the hassle, go somewhere else. The employee I disputed with was condescending on top of all of this. Overall, they have very poor customer service. I've used them multiple times previously, and my wife has used them many times for business as well. We're both done with Alamo for good. EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE! I normally do not write reviews, but I really had to give Alamo credits for making our car rental experience as painless as possible. We were initially concerned from the amount of negative reviews online, but decided to proceed because of the low cost rental fee. We rental from the Minneapolis Airport location, and the gentleman there, Bruce, was phenomenal. He waived the second driver fee for us even though the promo ended a while back (we didn't know). He wasn't pushy and was extremely pleasant to work with. We drove the car to Chicago and returned the car four days later. Returning the car was painless. They did a thorough scan inside and out and gave us the receipt within 5 minutes. They ended up charging us $10 less because we returned the car earlier than the time we put down. Shout-out to Bruce! That type of customer service is really hard to find nowadays. read more

I initiated the rental through Hotwire and was happy with the rate I received. After a very short wait at the Alamo rental counter in the airport terminal, I was greeted by Jimmy and had a pleasant experience. They didn't have the type of vehicle I requested, so I was given a free upgrade. I got a brand new 2019 Nissan Rogue with 150 mile. Great upgrade!! When I arrived to my hotel, I called to speak with the manager, Shayla, at the location to provide feedback. Shout out to Jimmy for starting off my trip to Minneapolis on the right foot! I rented a car here for my business trip and I was really pleased, mostly because the gentleman at the front counter gave me a free birthday upgrade. Small gesture goes a long ways! The car had no issues and it was new, loved the new car smell aha. They are not strict on what time you return the car during the day it needs to be returned and the pricing wasn't too bad for the rental. Then again, this is my first rental so I am not sure how the pricing should be but overall from Wed-Sun I ended up paying about $250-$300, I forgot. Please, if you are a foreigner or an American without a credit card DO NOT(!!!) rent a car with Alamo. My brother got off a 18 hour flight from Sweden late last night, and was denied his PRE-PAID rental because he is Swedish and does not have a credit card. He needed this car because there's a 2 hour drive from the airport to his university. As I said, the rental was already paid for in advance and they even refused to refund him the money. When I called and tried to help out by giving my credit card and information or to at least get the money back, I was told it was not their problem, that they would not issue a refund and then I got hung up on. This is my first Yelp review -- and I had to post to thank Alamo staffer Tosha for her incredible, kind efforts at the MSP Airport Alamo location (Lindberg Terminal). I had rented a minivan to transport my sister, 90-year old mother, and our belongings -- including Mom's walker -- to Wisconsin. It was a sad event: we were bringing my Dad's cremains for burial in a cemetery in his favorite Wisconsin town. Despite having made the reservation several months earlier, a minivan was not available when we arrived. Tosha took stock of our situation and sought out a car that would transport us to Wisconsin, in comfort. She located a small SUV that was perfect, but more to the point, she was patient, friendly, and entirely professional the entire time. She made our mom feel extra-cared for. Tosha's sparkling personality and thoughtfulness lifted our spirits and stayed in our hearts. Each time we stepped into the car, we said a little "thank you" prayer for Tosha. I am truly a glutton for punishment by continuing to rent from Alamo. My past two experiences have been outrageous with promises of Customer Service call back. It's March 5th and I'm still waiting for an agent to call me back from issues I called in regard to on January 27th! I told that to the representative this past weekend and they promised a Manager would call me... that was 3 days ago - not expecting any call; let's be realistic, this is Alamo. Horrible experience today at the MSP airport. Reserved a full size suv, checked in at counter and we were told we could take the Tahoe or the Escalade... we get to parking garage and waited 20 minutes for the attendant. First guy said the Escalade we were eyeing had a bad transmission... had another guy bring a different one up... we said that's fine we will take it even though it was smaller. When the other man got involved he said we couldn't have it, had to take the Tahoe because Escalade is "luxury" ummm... excuse me, first of all, 2 employees said it was fine apparently they thought because we had to settle for a smaller SUV that it would be good customer service... apparently Pete doesn't care about customer service. Second of all, we spent more time in the Alamo Car Garage not only waiting on these guys to help us but then to be jerked around than we did at TSA! Horrible!!!Pete was rude and dismissive. We ended up taking the Tahoe ... smaller than we reserved! NEVER using Alamo again!!! read more

We reserved a full size SUV online prior to our flight to MSP. We did so, since we would have 7 people to shuttle around while there. Upon arrival, the rental agent upsold us to a premium SUV, stating it would hold 8. Thinking, "great, that will give us a bit more room", we took it. We had 3 people near/over 80 years old, one using a cane. We get to the Cadillac Escalade, and it held 5 people with our luggage. Once we dropped off the luggage, it held a max of 7, not the alleged 8. 2 front bucket seats, 2 middle bucket seats and a tight 3rd row. We were very unhappy with this "premium SUV" they gave us, as we barely fit. read more

The service has always been exceptional and while I have used other rentals in the past, I come back to Alamo simply because I enjoyed doing business with them.
