I used to consider the purchase experience as good and considerate, until I went there the third time for a repair/sell-back. He definitely knew that he was in the dominant role in asking for repair/sell-back fee. Even though I kept that in mind, I was still shocked by his arrogant attitude and asking for ridiculous repair fee. I bought one bike for $130 and the other one for $160 from Alan, and the bikes are OK. The seat of the first bike was stolen twice in Millbrae Bart Station. One of its tire started to leak. The interior tire of the second bike was taken away by someone at the same place. I took the two bikes back to Alan to see whether I can sell the bikes back to him. He said he could only gave us $30 for each bike! Then I asked him how much it took to fix them. I could not believe that he was asking for $60 repair fee for each bike. Alan has great customer service. Something was wrong with my back tire and he said bring it in any time after 2:00. He was friendly and helpful when arrived and quite honest that he wasn't sure he could fix my tire but could replace it. My bike is rather old and I asked if needed a tune up. Again, honesty....said it probably wasn't worth the 75$ tune up for such an old bike. Dropped off on a Thursday at 3:30. Go it back on Friday at 4:00. Super service! Super prices! Well done! Alas, on a very determined search for bike shops in the area I found Mr. Alan Gorman. It's not so much of a shop as it is a hidden treasure. Alan is a great, genuine guy who has extensive knowledge and will definitely give you a great bargain. Found Alan's shop on Yelp. I needed a tune-up for my Trek road bike since the shifting was getting sloppy and didn't want to take it to just any shop. I have a SRAM Red groupset on the bike, which has been difficult to tune well in the past. Based on the other positive reviews, I took the bike to Alan. He took a look at the bike and diagnosed that I also needed a new chain. He texted to quote the price and make sure I was ok with the proposed repairs and time frame. When I picked it up, he had me ride it around and made a few more adjustments to make sure it was right. He did a great job at a good price. I'll bring this bike and others to him in the future. I needed my bike tires filled but the tire valve was one I've never dealt with before. I showed it to Alan and he filled my tires and repaired the valve I had damaged the same day. He also threw in the attachment for the tire valve so I can fill the tires on my own now. Alan's prices were very reasonable, and his service was impeccable. I was having some problems with squealing brakes, and I was having trouble finding a local bike shop that would still be open by the time I came home from work. A quick search on Yelp showed me that Alan Gorman is open late! I gave him a call, and he immediately answered the phone. 15 minutes later, I was there, and he was working on my bike. I had a lot of fun chatting with him while I was there, learning about various techniques to fix brakes and checking out an interesting bamboo bike he had in his shop. After spending some time tinkering around with my brakes, Alan managed to get rid of the squealing! He warned me, however, that my rims were fairly worn out, and there was a good chance that the brakes might start squealing again in the near future. Satisfied with his work as it was, I asked how much I owed him. He responded that there was no charge -- just come back in the future for my future bike needs. I certainly will! read more

Alan is super easy to do business with! My partner and I came in to just take a look at beginner bikes or anything we can get our hands on. It's the start of Spring so we decided to take on a new hobby. Looked for local shops around the area on a Sunday afternoon and Alan's shop was the only one open passed 5pm so we decided to check it out. We walked in and Alan welcomed us in to take a look around. Keep in mind, you may have to have some knowledge on what you're already looking for (though we walked in blindly) and kind of went by instinct. You can try any and all the bikes you want (these are all used bikes for sale) and some of them are in pretty good condition. Spent maybe half an hour or 45 minutes here and Alan was helpful the entire time, he also let us do our own thing so we can ride around and "test drive" the bikes. After trying out a few we came home with 2 bikes. Alan gave us a great deal and he even said if there's any problems we can always bring it back, no receipt needed! He'll also buy the bike back if you eventually don't want it for some reason. What a great way to do business! Someone you can definitely trust and always come back to without doubt. I had the most amazing customer service experience with Alan. I have an old city commuter bike that I needed to get fixed up for commuting - brakes, new handle bar grips, check the gears, new tires etc. He responded right away to my inquiry and suggested I bring it in. His extremely convenient hours made it easy for me. As it turned out, all I needed was some new tubes, new grips, and a few tweaks and I was good to go! -- No overcharges here --- Also, my old helmet was falling apart and he gave me one someone didn't need any more at no charge! He did the work in a day or two and was very low cost. And I'll add, he's just a very friendly person!
