I'm a Contract Property Maintenance Handy Man and in my task list at a job site was to replace a missing custom size Kitchen Cabinet Glass pane. I called Alba and the phone agent was very informative, professional and courteous...letting me know their process for order placing and pick-up. I was informed to email them the Glass pane measurements and I promptly received an estimate for the job. I approved the estimate and went to their shop the next morning to get the Glass cut. The technician at the shop was also very informative, professional and courteous. I had brought the other existing Cabinet door glass pane so the technician could cut an exact precise copy and he did just that. With the technician having taken a close quality control look at his work to ensure his cuts were clean and exact resulting with the new custom cut pane fitting perfect in the Cabinet door. The whole process from ordering to getting the Glass professionally cut was very efficient and took less then an hour and was well worth the $95. My experience was excellent: I emailed one evening at 9pm drescribing the problem (broken glass on one 22*44 window). I received a quote the next day at 7:30am via email, which I approved. I received a call that same day at 10:30am, offering to schedule the repair that same afternoon between 1-3pm. The team of 2 (Javier and Javier) arrived at 1:30pm to complete the job -- very friendly, very knowledgeable, pointed out several interesting detail about that and other windows in our home -- worked in their van outside for 45 minutes to install the new glass, re-installed the window, fixed a problem because the windows originally wasn't attaching properly to the frame, took all of the detritus with them, and left us with a very nice window upgrade from the original one. Not only were the contractors rude and showed up 3 hours earlier than scheduled, but they almost broke an existing window next to the one being replaced, took much longer than estimated to replace the one window and poorly installed it. There are so many other much better, qualified and competent window contractors out there who are more deserving of your business. They also damaged my ceiling carrying the window into my home. I recently had a brick thrown through my front window early on a Saturday morning. I called Alba Glass and had a quick response from Lillian in less than an hour. I was frightened by the incident and Lillian had a calm and reassuring voice that helped ease my anxiety of what to do next. Lillian was able to schedule Ben that same morning to come and board up my window. The brick had damaged some of the wooden frame on the window and would need a few days to repair. Luckily, Alba Glass hasa master carpenter on staff to do the needed repair work. Ben told me that I didn't need to take a day off from work when they replaced the window and that everything would be fine and not to worry. A few days later, my window and wooden panes were replaced and looked as good as new! I was so surprised when I returned home and satisfied with the speed and quality of their work. Wow. I don't understand how this place received even a star. I just left this glass place and I was met by a barking dog. Place is filthy and smells like a dog kennel. At least the dog was nice once he or she warmed up to me, but the lady in front doesn't know anything about customer service. I just asked for a price of the glass and she wasn't interested in talking to me since I was not going to have them install. I felt like I wasn't not welcomed. I spent 2 minutes in this shop. Also she had another customer on speaker phone while she chews her lunch. She literally hung up on the customer when he ask to speak to the store's owner. Wow. Alba's replaced several dozen small glass panes (double-pane insulated glass) in a handful of my wood windows, which had become cloudy because of broken seals. There was urgency because I was getting ready to sell my house. I was incredibly pleased with their service and the quality of their work. When I first called about two specific windows, Lillian in the office gave me a preliminary estimate via email on the same day. Ben came for precise measurements then next day, and pointed out I needed fewer panes than I thought. His expert eye could better distinguish the internal cloudiness from external dirt than mine. They rushed the order for the custom panes and were back within a few days. Javier did a very careful job installing them. When he was finished, it was not possible to tell work had been done. No painting was even required. A week later I noticed failed panes in three more windows in a different part of the house. Lillian arranged for Javier to measure the next day and they came back for another excellent installation within a few days. While doing the work, they also found a section of the window sash that had dry rot. They were able to reconstruct a matching section and replace only the rotted part, and completed the work in two days. I'm sure others would have simply offered to replace the entire window at much greater cost. While this kind of work is not inexpensive, it is difficult to find people who have the skill to do it.
