    Fajitas accompaniment

Alberto's has a low average, which I never understood. I'd go with 3.5 stars, rounding up as usual. We've been there many times, either getting fajitas or burritos, and it's always been pretty good. Service is slow at times, but not unreasonable. Brightly colored like Americans prefer their Mexican restaurants. We recently visited again after the management changed hands, and didn't notice much of a difference, still pretty good, with plenty of food. There were a couple of decorative items added, like pickled onions and a grilled lemon half. The latter was nice, as I liked squeezing the extra lemon into my shrimp.

So, I'm rewriting this because my original review here got removed after the business flagged it for "looking like AI." I honestly laughed because I wrote it myself, on my couch, after eating here. If anything, maybe it was too honest? Anyway, here we go again. I've been in Pleasanton long enough to remember when Alberto's used to be the go-to spot for a casual Mexican dinner. I don't know what happened, but the food on my last visit was just... not it. The chips were stale. Not "kind of stale," I mean the kind where you tap one on the table and it makes a little clink sound. The salsa tasted like someone whispered the idea of a tomato into a blender and called it a day. I ordered enchiladas, which should not be complicated, but the whole plate came out lukewarm and kind of sad. The rice looked tired. The beans tasted like they were just checking in but not really participating. Nothing was actually bad enough to complain to the server about -- it was more like the entire meal just gave up halfway through. Speaking of the server: they were great. Super friendly. Definitely not their fault. I tipped well because the service was honestly the best part of the night. But when you leave a restaurant feeling full and still thinking about where you should have gone instead... that kind of says everything. I'm only posting this again because the first version got nuked, which was weird. I guess my writing style accidentally offended someone. So here it is, rewritten, less poetic, more direct: The tequila selection is solid, but the food felt phoned-in. That's the whole story.

I had a really disappointing and dishonest experience here. While we were dining, the waiter came over and told us that the man at the next table had paid for everything. I was shocked so I asked him 3 times and he gave me the same answer. He even encouraged us to order another drink because it was "already covered." I wasn't planning to, but I agreed as he said it's paid for and I felt pressured After the man left, we thanked him and then the waiter came back with a bill. When I asked why, he said the man had only paid for one drink. That's not what he said earlier. It felt like a trick to get me to order more, and that's unacceptable. I left feeling taken advantage of, and I won't be coming back.

    Beef and chicken fajitas.

Excellent service and Margaritas! Chicken tortilla and chicken enchilada soups are delicious.

Don't let the low rating fool you. This place is awesome. They started us off with some free chips & salsa and they were delicious. The chips are warm and salty. The salsa had a subtle hint of oregano which made it unique. I ordered a chile relleno and it was super tasty. There was a mix up in the kitchen and my wife received the wrong order but they immediately apologized, took it off the bill, and gave us a free replacement. We were very impressed by the customer service and especially on a busy day for them. We can't wait to go back. Kudos to Sarah and Ella for great service despite an extremely busy lunch service and mix up with the entree.

Small $4.00 horchata, warm, no ice , no cinnamon
    Manuel S.

I got charged $4.00 for a small horchata that looks as white as the driven snow with no cinnamon in it and no ice. We need to do better here.

Excited to try this place sadly disappointed. Won't be back for a second time as there are too many other places that serve amazingly delicious food. The fajita was dry and tasteless even though there was chicken and steak and shrimp. Salsa was nothing special and tasted old and haphazardly put together. The refried beans were the only item worth eating and they were delicious.

Alberto's Cantina has definitely leveled up under the new ownership! The vibe feels fresh and inviting, and the quality of the food has truly improved. You can tell they've put a lot of thought into elevating the experience while keeping the classics we all love. The most delicious thing I had here was the Fajita Burrito--WOW. The chicken was so moist, perfectly seasoned, and packed with flavor. Every bite was satisfying and absolutely delicious. Highly, highly recommend if you're visiting! If you haven't been back since the ownership change, you're missing out. Great food, great atmosphere, and even better quality than before. Alberto's is back and better than ever!

This place was easy to access and in downtown Pleasanton so lots of parking around. We were seated immediately. The waiter gave us chips and salsa as soon as we ordered and handed the menus back. I ordered a shredded beef enchilada and my friend ordered chile rellano. This plate was filling. I was very full for a reasonable cost.

That little sliver is supposed to be a relleno

I missed the rock n' roll memo, but amazingly talented singers including the KJ himself. The sound system can be pretty loud especially the bass, so ended up keeping my ear plugs in. My only major reservation is how the karaoke queue is managed. Couldn't help but notice the bartenders and some patrons who generously tipped got to sing multiple times in a row. One of the patrons tipped $20 and sang three songs in a row. In comparison, I got one song in in the span of three hours. I kind of expected the place to start clearing out after midnight but ppl stuck around and seemed to be having a good time. If you're not into rock n' roll/metal karaoke, they also have pool, shuffleboard, and darts. I do like the KJ and the patrons here, though in the future, I'll just set the expectation that I'll get one song in and set a curfew for myself.

It's basically buffalo chicken stuffed in pocket bread. The dishes look great (see pics)! Fish and chips are ok, I found some burnt and dried fries but overall good tartar sauce and a little dry coleslaw. But fish is pretty good. The doozy scoozi is horrible in one word. The cook/chef for some reason drenched chicken in buffalo sauce. To me, it's almost looked like curry chicken. I asked my American wife did you order curry chicken by mistake? Then I tasted from her plate. The buffalo sauce is overpowering so the stuffing becomes inedible! I gave three stars as I like everything else in the restaurant, hospitality, friendliness, the server gave water bowl for our dogs (very nice!). I don't expect much from "American cuisine" (to me it's burger and sandwiches pretty much), but come on drenching chicken in buffalo sauce is a strict no no! If the cook is reading this, please contact me and I will teach you how to make curry chicken! Put that in the bread pocket, it will be your special menu item and I guarantee it will be an instant hit, way better than your version of "doozy scoozi". Anyway, so that summarizes the 3 stars!

This bar was nothing near quiet and chill when we swung by. It was more of a frat basement vibe (which I actually found quiet endearing). This place is super tiny. When I came, all the chairs/furniture were pushed to the side to make room for a dance floor. The DJ played frat classics like 'Mo Bamba' and somehow created an energy where everyone was being perfectly carefree and dancing all over the place. Everyone was cramped up in the tiny dancefloor but still had enough room to move around and get to the bar. There was a pool table that was covered off to the side and some games lined up on the wall (to likely be used on a more casual and lowkey night). They had a bunch of security. They had guards at the entrance, by the DJ, and at the back door (that I think led to an outdoor patio). I'm not sure if this makes me feel reassured or concerned that they feel the need to have so much security. To me, the drinks were average.
