It's been every long time since we have been here. I think we stopped going because, one it got pretty expensive, and two the food was not as good as it once was! Our daughter wanted to try the quessibirria tacos and it is her birthday. So OK let's give them a try, well my chicken Al pastor super burrito was missing something! The chicken Al pastor!! My wife had the regular burrito and said the same thing, it's all rice and beans! Our daughter did get the quesabirria tacos, now every wuesabirria that u have ever had has the tortillas dipped in the sauce, so they are red! Nope not here? So far I think it is the best Mexican restaurant around the area. 90% we get it to go whenever we wanna get toco, burritos, plates and stuff for lunch if we wanna get Mexican food. Also it is another fast food style so no real service but the people in there are super friendly. Once in a while the owner will do super giant big pan to make very interesting food there but more or less is like if you can bump into one or not. This spot is a local favorite of my boyfriend's family. The one thing they get every time are the nachos! As a nacho enjoyer, I had to try it and I have not been disappointed. The nachos are loaded!! We often pick up after ordering online - everything is made quickly! On occasion I do feel like the chip ratio is uneven but one thing to note is that it will never be the toppings that are lacking. With this many toppings the chips get soggy easily but that's an average experience for most loaded nachos. The pickled veggies are flavorful and spicy. The meat is always soft and tender. For one person these nachos take at least 2 sittings to complete. There's just something unique about Mexxi's nachos. Some of the furniture is covered with plastic wrap. I'm not sure what that's all about My wife and me each got one taco and one enchilada. Just as tasty as I remembered. The salsa is especially good. The menu says they charge $4 for chips and salsa. They also have bottles of beer, but nothing on draft. For some reason, the service has declined. I do not understand why the owner seems gruff. This was a hole in the wall Mexican restaurant that was unexpectedly around the corner. There was a pretty good variety on the menu. There's a pretty good selection of beer and drinks as well. The gentleman that took our order was very lively and friendly. We were able to occupy the colorful booth outside on a nice summer day. We ordered the nachos grande that was loaded with cheesy goodness, pickled carrots and jalapeños, shredded chicken, and guacamole. COVID-19 update. We have been coming to Mexxi's for many years. Food is excellent. Chips are seasoned and crispy. Today we got four red enchiladas to go along with fire roasted salsa and chips. We resisted the temptation to eat before arriving home. The enchiladas were still edible warm when we got home. We reheated a tad to bring closer to temperature as if we were eating there. The result was an excellent lunch amidst our pandemic. We did not have to touch anything to pay by credit card. We passed the card to the staff since they are not designed for staff-less card entry. I come here for lunch sometimes. Gets pretty busy but have always been greeted and assisted accordingly. I've only tried a few things like their quesadillas and tacos. Flavorful and fulfilling. The chicken al pastor is good, the "grilled" chicken is not. The chicken they consider grilled looks and tastes more like it was stewed in pure grease and the pieces of meat are mainly dark and not quality. I think they have changed their rice recipe because it's no longer seasoned and red, it's yellow and tastes plain and overcooked. The guacamole is still very good but the portions are small. It seems the quality has diminished over the past year but the prices have increased and sadly I will not take my chances eating here anymore. read more

I stopped going there years ago because the owner is so rude...greeting everyone with a scowl and appearance that his customers inconvenience him. Last night I decided to give them another try because they had a sign at the front "No taco no service"....they are probably making a mint on the t-shirts they sell. I thought if they are doing their part during this pandemic, then I will give them my business. We, the customers were all masked. I ordered my tacos see the cook making them...100% unmasked. When I asked why he was unmasked I was told "We tell him to wear one but he won't". Lame as hell...I asked for my money back and will never go back. We have been going to lunch at Maxxi's for years. The food is reliably good. Most of the time your food is ready within a few minutes of placing your order so it's a great place to go for lunch when you have a limited amount of time. The chili Verde plate is very good. It's too much for just lunch so there's always leftovers to take home for a second meal. The street tacos are also very good. They have just the right amount of spice and are very filling.
