The food at el castillito is absolutely incredible. Nice staff. What truly set el Castillito apart is the owner. You can tell he genuinely cares about their guests. After we were told that unfortunately there wasn't enough menudo, because of the high orders, he made it work to serve us a plate and put it on the house. Very nice person. Besides the menudo we had a carne asada taco sala, alpastor tacos and grilled shrimp botana. You can't go wrong with their fresh micheladas served in an ice cold beer mug! Finally a good burrito that is within delivery range! I ordered the super burrito with al pastor and it was excellent. The size was, indeed, super. I ended up splitting it over two meals. Pretty good carnitas burrito. The first 1/4 of the burrito was all sour cream though. Once I got to the meat, it was on. The carnitas was pretty moist and had a nice little char to it. Luckily I only found a couple pieces of jiggle that I had to pick out and flick on a napkin. My fiancé also had a carnitas burrito but he had pico de gallo in his. Their pico has jalapeños which makes it too spicy for my timid tongue. The chips were pretty good, but better with some salt sprinkled. I got my guacamole on the side to dip. Good thing too because it was runny. My fiancé used the red salsa for the chips and it turned out that was a mistake. Unfortunately he spent most of the evening on the porcelain thrown. This place used to be a lot better 6 years ago when i first started going here. I was underwhelmed by the quality. I ordered a burrito with Al Pastor, the meat tasted like they cooked it in the same pan they just finished cooking fish in. The tortilla chips tasted rancid and stale. The salsa was was the only thing that tasted ok. I feel like I could get better tacos at any other spot for a better value. Pleasantly surprised. From the first engagement with the woman at the register this little treasure had me hooked. She was so friendly it took me by surprise how sweet and funny she was. I ordered the super steak and shrimp burrito and it was super. The cheese was melty and the meat tasted hot and fresh. They have a salsa bar and you can get your own chips. A complete bonus. I also ordered the large pineapple aqua frescas and it was huge and delicious. The spot is located tucked in a plaza but it's bright yellow making it easy to spot.
