1 carne asada , 1 chicken pastor
Aman S.

Your basic taqueria located in Livermore. Not in downtown but not far from it ,on P street. Looks like a family affair type place which so many taquerias are. The price is great , service good too. Without maps app I probably would have not know this place even existed. Right next door to McDonald's. I had the two taco combo meal which includes a beverage rice and refried beans. Th carne asada was terrific but the chicken pastor didn't seem fresh as I'd made already sitting out and given to me . Free chips and salsa, indoor and outdoor plenty of seats . Bathroom (with key needed )for customers similar to a gas station . They have other plates with pictures so I'm not really gonna judge this place on one visit . Location makes it non busy. Tip: Napkins are next to the tortilla chips and salsa on high counter.

I had a sudden craving and I called this place to see if they make chile rellenos! And ding ding ding they do! So exciting. You know being pregnant you want something specific is always hard to find! They are sooo good! Happy once again! Service is amazing the guys are very sweet!

Hole in the wall. We always eat lunch here when we're in Livermore. We always order the taco salad for around $15. They're so generous with the meat and it is so delicious! Service is quick! 5-10 minutes. Highly recommended!

The portion of the super nachos chicken was a great size. The place even has complimentary chips and salsa!

This was a DoorDash order, so I cannot attest to how the store looks visually inside or about wait times. I was craving Mexican food and this place showed up on DoorDash for me to try. I always enjoy Mexican tacos and the price I paid looked rather reasonable. Tacos: These were really good. The sauce and protein were plentiful and it was not too messy as I wrapped everything together to pick it up. It was not too salty either, thought a bit dry. Rice and Bean burrito: I ordered this as an accompaniment to my tacos. It was pretty good to eat. Can't expect more from this type of burrito . Overall, a nice place to grab a bite to eat.

Huevos a la Mexica

My wife and I found this place on a search on a Sunday morning when the other Mexican place we wanted to try was unexpectedly closed. The location of El Castillito is kinda hard to find and the setting is odd, but the food is great. The portion size is HUGE and the prices are really good. Service is no frills and all at the counter, but that's OK. It's real Mexican at it's best. Definitely worth seeking it out.

Surf & Turf Burrito

This was the 3rd or 4th time picking up from here. Their surf & turf burrito is solid. My wife enjoyed her veggie burrito too. The portions are huge. Fantastic value for how much food you get, and really reasonable prices which is rare these days. They have self serve chips and salsa when you pick up your food or eat in. Pretty basic interior, but plenty of seating. We've never eaten there though. Staff is friendly, food is ready on time for pickup, our order is right, and the food is filling and good. Definitely worth a shot.

Carnitas burrito
Tia V.

Pretty good carnitas burrito. The first 1/4 of the burrito was all sour cream though. Once I got to the meat, it was on. The carnitas was pretty moist and had a nice little char to it. Luckily I only found a couple pieces of jiggle that I had to pick out and flick on a napkin. My fiancé also had a carnitas burrito but he had pico de gallo in his. Their pico has jalapeños which makes it too spicy for my timid tongue. The chips were pretty good, but better with some salt sprinkled. I got my guacamole on the side to dip. Good thing too because it was runny. My fiancé used the red salsa for the chips and it turned out that was a mistake. Unfortunately he spent most of the evening on the porcelain thrown. His stomach was all bubbly and angry. I think we'd come back but would stay away from the salsas unless we're in the mood for a colon cleansing.

Wet Buritto

Hole in the wall type kind of restaurant. A must to try! I have ordered: Wet Buritto, spicy shrimp, 3 tacos (carne asada + shrimp). All of them are wonderful, on the grizzy side. The mexican rice is delicious! Spicy shrimp is very spicy for me, lots of flavors. They shrimps are not fully peel, kind of understand so it won't be dried (and lower food cost). I have ordered no bean, but accidently, they put in my order which I'm kind of glad to try it. I will come again and again.

Lengua, cabeza tacos@2.49 with red salsa
Victor G.

El Castillito Taqueria feels like a old style Taco Bell from the inside. just an adobe type building. offerings: breakfast, main menu, tacos, dinner plates, seafood, extras, drinks. eats: lengua, cabeza tacos @ 2.49 -grilled corn tortillas filled with lengua, cabeza meats. not so juicy. topped with red salsa, lime squeeze, cilantro, onions fulfilling but not wow. take outs: -quick service -hidden behind McD.

Chips!

Do yourself a favor and get the shrimp burrito. My god, it is perfect. Very friendly there too. Worth a trip, even if it isn't close.

Is this place the same as the San Francisco El Castillito ? If so. I'll make the trip.

This was a family owned hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Although it was delicious, I don't think it warrants a special trip to Livermore to try it out.

As our organizer mentioned, they were fully booked that night so do reserve early. Warm earthy tones in the decor made for a comfortable, inviting atmosphere and the light jazz ensemble and lovely vocal performances elevated the evening's experience. The ambiance is a strong point. Being a paella newbie, I definitely looked forward to tasting a version especially after watching cooking shows over the years. The saffron broth rice nicely counterbalanced the seasoned shrimp, sausage and other ingredients. Thumbs up. I had several portions. The tempura cauliflower - good. KR Enchiladas were cheesey and rich, plumply filled, and the accompanied rice accented with corn. Since we shared the three enchiladas, my small piece was enough for me. Suggest passing on the sourdough side that came with the paella. The bread had melted, but cooled cheese on it and there was not much free broth in the paella to soak therewith anyway. With water being the group's primary beverage, perhaps request a carafe of water at the table to ease the thirstier folks (me). Our wait person gave helpful suggestions and efficient service. The rest of the staff had hustle. As normal with live music, be prepared to raise your voice and repeat yourself in conversations. Parking is ample, with a short walk, in this Nob Hill Foods shopping center.

This is a tough review. I decided to try this little Mexican restaurant that shares the building…read morewith a gas station. The parking was a little weird, but I found a spot and checked it out. There was a party of 4 in front of me ordering at the counter. They serve alcohol, bottled sodas, and have a soda fountain. The place isn't fancy- pretty simple and a little dark but ok. It wasn't inviting enough to stay. The 3 guys working weren't too friendly but I wanted to try the fish taco and a shrimp taco to go. $5.75 seemed a little higher than normal for a taco but I figured the serving may be bigger than most places. After 10 minutes, I picked up my to go order on a paper plate with tin foil which made me chuckle. The fish taco was very good- great flavor, tender fish perfectly cooked. I'd rate it a 5/5. The shrimp taco was much smaller which was odd, but the flavor was also very good. The photo reflects a pretty small taco- and it definitely wasn't worth the price. 2/5 for the price. I would go again for fish tacos if I wanted food to go with no frill.

While I've done takeout, they do provide the opportunity to sit inside. Don't be fooled by their location; seriously a hidden gem. If you're in the mood for a quick bite, check them out!!

I had the pollo asado, which I thought was quite good. Overall, the food was solid and satisfying, even if it wasn't especially memorable compared to some other Mexican restaurants we've visited. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated, creating a pleasant atmosphere, and the staff was friendly and welcoming, which definitely added to the experience. This is certainly not a place to avoid--we had a good meal and a pleasant visit. It just didn't stand out enough to become one of our personal "must-go" spots. It did feel overpriced for what we got.

I'm not sure what is happening with Casa Orozco. First of all, I want to say myself Nd my family…read morehave been fans since the very ORIGINAL Casa Orozco was in Livermore. Many birthdays and family celebrations have taken place here over the years and one of the family favorites has always been their chips and salsa. We love it so much that often when we are making our own Mexican food at home, we will pick it up just as a side for the dinner. However, the last 6 times (not kidding) I have come and asked for the MILD chips and salsa, we get home and it is the super hot version. Now I'm not a complainer as I will eat any type of salsa, but our kids crave the mild because the hot is too much for them. One of the most common complaints among guests with Casa is that their prices don't match the quality or service. This is a perfect example. It costs nearly $20 for a bag of chips and a quart of salsa and to get home and have it been inedible for our family, is ridiculous. This has happened time and time again even after asking the hosting staff to "double check", "please make sure", "are you sure this is mild?" This obviously isn't the only issue. As many others have mentioned, food quality has gone down hill as a whole. Sometimes food seems stale or rushed. If Casa wants to remain a Livermore staple, it really needs to work on making the quality of their service match their pricing expectations. I am to the point where I guess I will have to dip a chip in the parking lot before taking it home.
