Frustrating experience at the deli counter at Albertsons. I asked for one pound of thin-sliced chicken with paper between the slices, which is a completely normal deli request. The employee immediately pushed back, saying I wouldn't need paper if I ordered thicker slices. When I repeated what I wanted, he groaned like a child, moved painfully slowly, and acted like the request was a huge burden. He only cut half a pound and by that point the attitude was so unpleasant that I just gave up and took it. There is a Starbucks Coffee Shop that's located right inside this Albertsons Grocery Store. I was very thirsty on Thursday, July 11, 2024 and also the weather continues on that specific date was very hot and humid. I was sweating a lot . It's not something I enjoy feeling in this San Marcos, CA area. The weather in San Marcos is very uncomfortable when I am walking outside. I was driving in this San Marcos city to do some personal business and to also check out their Palomar Coast Plaza Shopping Center. I saw the Albertsons Grocery Store and I wanted to buy some needed groceries on Thursday, July 22, 2024 at 3 p.m. And I also like Starbucks Coffee Shop. After I finished my grocery shopping at this Albertsons Store. I did receive excellent customer service from Melissa the casher and from Baron who was bagging up my groceries. Baron was also very kind to me. I asked Baron if he can give me a cup of cold water because after I ordered snd paid for my Starbucks Coffee Cookie Crumble Frappuccino in the large Grande size . This beverage was very delicious. The price I was charged by Oscar the barista was $6.85. I asked Oscar, can he prepare this Cookie Crumble Frappuccino using a decaffeinated coffee shots instead of using the regular coffee syrup shots? Oscar is a good listener to my request. Oscar said he will make a Creme based coffee and add small shot of coffee into this Cookie Crumble Frappuccino Drink and I would hardly taste anything. Because Oscar said that Starbucks Coffee doesn't have the decaffeinated coffee with that specific drink order. I said okay let's give this Cookie Crumble Frappuccino Drink a try. Oscar asked me what size cup I want ? I said the Grande size cup. Then Oscar started to prepare my Cookie Crumble Frappuccino drink order. I saw Oscar adding one small shot and of coffee into this cup, Oscar used also some Creme based syrup shots, chocolate syrup shots, ice, Oreo Cookies were added and a blender was used to mix all of these ingredients together. My Apple IPHONE XR the cell phone battery was out of device when I ordered my coffee drink , so I wasn't able to take any photos of this Cookie Crumble Frappuccino drink order. But I did receive a receipt that I will post to my Yelp Review. Oscar also asked me if I wanted whipped Creme snd addition crushed Oreo Cookies as topping ? I said Yes sure I love Oreo Cookies snd whipped Cream on my drink. Oscar was happy to accommodate me. I paid Oscar the $6.95 in cash for my drink order. Oscar was very attentive to my drink order and he is also a good listener. Oscar's girlfriend was also ordering a drink from him on Thursday, 7/12/24. I had the opportunity to talk to her for a few minutes. Her name was Vanessa. Vanessa was very friendly and a very nice person. Oscar gave me excellent customer service that day and I enjoyed a very delicious Starbucks Coffee Cookie Crumble Frappuccino drink. Getting back to Baron who works for Albertsons Grocery Store. I asked Baron can he give me a cup of cold water? Because after I had drank that Cookie Crumble Frappuccino I was thirsty for water. That beverage has sugar infused into that drink. I told Baron I will pay him for the cold water. Baron said NO Frances, since I am their new customer he will not charge me anything. The cold water in the medium size cup was FREE to me. I told Baton I had already spent $33.21 buying my groceries at the Albertsons Store. Baron said if I need more cold water to let him know snd he will give me another FREE water. This seems to be the Albertsons /Vons with the least customer friendly employees I have ever encountered. Generally, staff seemed a bit unhappy - late on a holiday I can get that and no big deal. Specifically, I had a problem with a vending machine and was literally next to an employee and asked him a couple of times for help but I was just ignored. He probably just started a break and could have said "I'm on break, I'm sure somebody else will help you" and I would have asked somebody else but he just wandered off eventually talking to a cashier who shouted over to me. read more

My mom doesn't use yelp but asked me to write a good review because on Friday at 4:30 she went to the Starbucks across the street by Aldi where she asked for a mocha and was given a hot chocolate!! She was going to get her nails done at Be Polished and went into the Albertsons to see if their Starbucks would remake it. Oscar was happy to remake her beverage with a great attitude. I preferred Albertson's fried chicken over any grocery deli fried chicken but when I recently purchased it from this location 6/29/24 around 3pm. It just didn't taste the same. Like whoever made this batch lost the Albertson recipe somewhere and used two days old oil then overcooked some of the chicken and undercooked the rest. Someone definitely made their own experimenting of fried chicken instead of following Albertson's recipe. Albertsons please be consistent. I really love you guy's deli stuff, but this wasn't it. I've been coming to this Albertsons for as long as I can remember... over 17+ years. I give it 2.5 stars. It gets the job done and I'm in there weekly for essentials. The selection is less than you'll find at a Ralph's or Stater Brothers, and post-Covid they still seem to be struggling keeping shelves stocked. It sometimes takes a trip to another store to fully stock our cupboards. For example, they were just out of vinegar for what seemed like two weeks straight. Lately I have been upset that products were past the expiration date but I didn't notice until I got home, and the produce hasn't been too great (moldy tomatoes, bruised onions, fruit flies nesting in bananas...) I hope they are actively working to make things better. read more

There was mold on some of the onions, the oranges were gray, avocados had holes, the meat was WHITE. Not to mention the store smelled like a dead animal died on the premises. Also, the soda deal said " 6.99 EA for 3 sodas" while on the other side of the store the sign said "7.99 EA for 3 sodas" which is very inconsistent. There deals aren't even deals, more like scams. I felt very uncomfortable with some of the employees I interacted with in a recent visit to San Marcos (frequently visit for work and pleasure at the lake). First, asked for 4 pieces of fried chicken (didn't need the whole chicken). The employee says it's $4.99 ($8.99 for a whole chicken). He proceeds to fill the bag with thighs and drumsticks. I immediately asked, "can you add wings instead of drumsticks?" He responded, "we don't have wings". I pointed out there are several wings I can see in the stack. He said, "those will cost you more and if I give you thighs and wings I have to charge you a lot more than $4.99...that's what they tell us." I asked my same local Albertsons for the same thing today and received a half a chicken (mixed) for $4.99 and that's what the price tag says! My weird feeling was validated. Second, checking out, the clerk doesn't acknowledge me, starts scanning, I pay, he hands me a receipt. I had several items and he didn't ask if I needed a bag. He just hands me a receipt. As I'm gathering my items and ask my 5 year old kid to to carry some of them, he greets the next customer and asks he wants bags (same amount of stuff)! My conclusion is I didn't look like I belong in that neighborhood, or I look like a weirdo wearing a mask, or both! I was born, raised, and proud to be an American. 2 months later things have only gotten worse. First impression, entrance filthy. Probably never been power washed and looks it. Aisles still packed with large food products carriers. Obstacle course to get through plus always seem to block access to product I'm looking for. Probably empty shelf there anyhow. If you do see something you want to buy, get lots cause they probably won't have it next time. Then there's the deli! Most unpleasant employees I have ever seen. Act like they wish you would just go away and not bother them. We find the shredded chicken to be a really useful product. So many dishes to make from it. BUT, when do they ever have it? I guess it's fine if you need groceries but this location goes out of their way to never have deli food after 7pm. Twice this month we went after work, and they were out of chicken tenders. This time they said it would be 10-15 mins for a new batch. We agreed to wait since we were going to get some other stuff anyway, but when we said we'd wait they changed their story to "actually we're out." Such a cop out to not have to do the work. Most staff members here aren't friendly and the water machines outside don't work, seems like they are in no hurry to fix them either. When I realized they probably aren't working I asked a staff member who was walking by if they worked and he just said "No", no indication of whether or not they would be fixed. There are two Albertsons in my city. This one is the better one. First off its huuuuuuge. The place even has a walk in beer cooler!! Its usually empty mid week with at least 2 lines open at all times. Because its not as busy I find a lot of clearence items to pick up for last minute dinner. The other location needs to take tips from this one, even the deli and bakery people are on point here. Good luck finding someone in the deli or more then one line open even after work hours. Do not buy a gift card from this location!!!!!! I'm pretty sure one of their cashiers was scamming customers over the holidays . My mom bought a gift card and it was switched at point of purchase. Our bagger Roma was kind and courteous and bagged our groceries just as we asked. They stayed calm and polite under pressure from their cashier. Deli is an EPIC FAIL. Always. They NEVER HAVE ENOUGH ROTISSERIE CHICKENS AT 4pm. EVER!!!!Always out unless you come after 5:30. They recently added fresh homemade chicken pot pies here but I've only seen them once at this location compared to the store on melrose which always has an abundance of both. Nice friendly staff in the morning, it's when I do most of my shopping after working the graveyard shift. Descent selection with weekly sale items but only if you got an Albertsons preferred card(it's free so just sign up). If your in the deli section try there spicy chicken wings there pretty bomb. Another reason why I like it here is cause they have 2 redboxes to rent movies, one inside and one outside the store. The produce guy in the morning is very helpful if you want some fresh produce in the back he'll grab it for you. They also have a couple of self check out counters which is very convienent when your in a rush. read more

If I could, I would give negative stars. A few days before Thanksgiving, we bought a huge ribeye roast, about 22 pounds. About 3 days after we had bought it, we took it out of the butcher wrapping paper and noticed a strange odor coming from the roast. We called Albertsons and were asked to return the product. About 12 hours later, my husband went to the store for the return. In the meantime, I had started to prepare a turkey instead. I didn't even think about anything, thinking my husband would come home with a refund back to my credit card or at least a store gift card. But noooooooo.... They told him that he needed to get exactly what we had bought before, so he was assured that it was store policy that he HAD TO get another huge roast again. I was very upset when he came home with another roast, this time still in shrink wrap. This one weighed in at about 25.20 pounds, regular price at $10.99 pound was $276.75. Since our previous roast was a little lighter due to being trimmed and due to not having had to pay for the heavy duty plastic wrap, my husband was seriously asked to pay an additional $20. I called the store and was told the store manager was not there. So I filed a complaint online on the Albertsons website. That was on November 25, 2020. We waited a couple of days, and since we had not heard back and were assured the store would "eventually" get back to us. We decided to open the heavy duty shipping plastic on the roast and cut and freeze it. It turned out there was a reason why we had to pay an additional $20 - we had about 3 pounds of excess fat on that roast, and that is the fat beyond the normal fat needed. Plus the shipping plastic - they took our additional money to pay for trash. Nice... Ever since then, I am being stalled and mocked by Albertsons customer service. The store manager NEVER called us. In one of the emails from customer service, they seriously had the audacity to tell me that the store insisted that someone had called us on 11/28 an on 11/29. Very strange, as my phone records do not show any incoming calls on both days from an Albertson store. Instead, I had to send them my phone number again per email. So I did. I repeatedly asked for the name of the so-called "manager" at that location as I have never in my life experienced such bad or rather non-existent customer service, but the answer to that question that I must have asked 3 times now per email is being avoided. After at least 7 or 8 more emails form me, always inquiring when I would be contacted, even requesting to be contacted via email, I am still waiting to hear from anyone over at that store site. In one emails I was told that the store refused to communicate via email. It had to be via phone. I wonder why that is? So that there is no trace of any communication? I avoided Albertsons since that day completely. I do not do business with a store that treats customers like that. Shame on them, and shame on corporate to have such incompetent management in place there. read more

The ACE sushi were made for Albertsons grocery store. To extend the shelf life of these sushi for one to two days, the cooked sushi rice was cooled in the fridge for around 20 minutes. It was further kept cold in the for-sale fridge section. Due to this process, the rice could become cold and a bit hard. To restore its tenderness, these sushi could be microwaved for 1 to 1.5 minutes. Then they would taste great again. One caveat: if nigiri-type sushi was microwaved, the raw fish would be partial cooked, like sheared tuna or salmon. In this way, you might create your own type of sushi, :) read more

I went in looking for some graduation balloons, which they did not have because they were all sold out. Instead of just telling me they were all sold out, he went the extra mile to check first, then he asked for some help since he wasn't familiar with the floral department. Another associate also came over to try and help us, but then called the person who was in charge of the floral department. The florist employee was so friendly and helpful. I had a few items to pick up on a Saturday evening recently and I was carrying a hand basket to the self check-out. I had an issue with one item scanning and a younger lady (employee) fixed it on screen. She then decided to take the basket out of my hand since it was the last item, but I proceeded to tell her I was going to take it out to my car since I forgot a bag. She rudely said I couldn't do that and I could "purchase a bag" instead. I stated this was the first time it's ever been a problem, but she just walked away. I needed to get back home so I didn't make it an issue about her rude tone/attitude. Later on I called the Albertsons and spoke with the manager on duty and gave him the details. Over the phone his attitude wasn't much better than the employee I ran across at the checkout. It was if I was wasting him time with the call and only stated that baskets were not allowed outside. I explained to him I've never had an issue at other Albertsons and what was the difference if I was using a shopping cart instead. He agreed with me about the use of a shopping cart but again no apology for the bad customer service received. I asked if I could speak to anyone else since he seemed annoyed at my call and said, "I'm the only one". To be honest I've come across other unfriendly staff there before but just thought maybe they were having a bad day. It seems to be more common now, so I think it's time to shop elsewhere. read more

They had one regular register open, and 4 self serve register but 3 of those registers were having problems (looked like user error to me). I only go to this store if I absolutely have to, otherwise I avoid it. If you want rude associates, and terrible quality products, this is the place for you. Over the course of almost 10 years the associates at this store have had a tendency of being hostile and rude. One older man with dark hair is just snobby and stern. My boyfriend and I are towards the end of our our 30's and they treat us like underage crooks at the register. I was in earlier this week because I wanted a simple after iced coffee as a way to better my mood. The girl tried to ring me up for a latte which is a couple bucks more. She tried to argue with me and then found the iced coffee button. I asked if I could have a different syrup instead of the classic, and she tried to charge me extra. It just seemed so complex at that point, and I was already not in the mood so I politely said, "forget it". The girl, I think her name was, Valerie (had a cute pink mask), and must be new. She has the attitude part down. That girl could not have been any more excited to not have helped me. Seriously this place sucks. The veggies are always old and moldy. Amazing service at this store. Staff is always friendly and super helpful. If they don't carry a product, they will order it for you. For instance, they ordered a goose for us for over the holidays. Their prices are fair. Check out the pre-chopped veggies packaged at the store. Makes my life easier when steaming healthy meals. Their bakery is awesome. I ordered a cake and it was almost too pretty to eat. Also, check out their discounts in meats such as steaks in the far right hand side of the meat section.
