Amazing service at this store. Staff is always friendly and super helpful. If they don't carry a product, they will order it for you. For instance, they ordered a goose for us for over the holidays. Their prices are fair. Check out the pre-chopped veggies packaged at the store. Makes my life easier when steaming healthy meals. Their bakery is awesome. I ordered a cake and it was almost too pretty to eat. Also, check out their discounts in meats such as steaks in the far right hand side of the meat section. This review is just for the service deli. I ordered a huge order for a 80 person company lunch in on a strict budget. The reason we picked this location over one closer to the office was the it offered online ordering. I placed the order on Tuesday for pick up Thursday at 10am our order was a little late but they were very apologetic and even took the price off one of the items we had ordered. The staff was friendly and helpful and made the stressful ordeal of coordinating a huge lunch in a much more humerus experience. read more

I'm a huge fan of Smart and Final , Costco , and even Trader Joes but when it comes down to having to go to a normal grocery store I tend to stay away from them. The biggest reason is that they are to expensive. No matter what you buy Your leaving with a small amount of food and even less cash from befor. I thought i was getting some good deals on some thing i bought. For example 1.99 for seedless grapes, some snackies for my son that said they were on discount at 1.19 just to name a few. It may say it but when you use the self check out and something dosent come out right who do you tell that you saw the item for less in the store. They have an employee standing near to help with major hang ups but when you have a couple people deep waiting to check out you feel like a jerk for making the other people for waiting. The store was clean and everything was well placed for easy pickings but those darn prices need to come down to get a a couple more stars. read more

These 5 stars are only for MELISSA in the bakery department. My family has been getting all of our birthday cakes made by Melissa for over 5 years now. She is always spot on with the colors and flavors! ! seriously order 11 cakes a year from here. Only thing is,we always order 24 hour in advance and seems like now you need at least a week in advance. Not sure if Melissa is the only decorator but she does an awesome job. Now when it comes to the actual store....there is never enough cashiers and they made the choice to get rid of their self check out stands. This location has drastically improved, I'm not a big Yelp person but I do believe in credit when credit is due. Customer service was exceptional, went way above and beyond what he needed to do. I was looking for tajin(Mexican chile spice), asked Sal where it was located. Sal instead of pointing me to the direction escorted me to the product instead. Knowing my directions I would have gone through every single isle looking for it. Cashiers were also friendly to me also asking how my experience and day was going. Quickly ran all my items and I was off my merry way. I don't know what changed (maybe new management)in this store for the customer service to boost up but I'm glad it did. read more

This review is mainly for the bakery section. I have not left a review in a long time but I felt that because I've been treated with such excellent service in the past 2-3 months that I should login and write about it. I apologize for not mentioning names (I'm terrible with names, sorry) but the lady who is always in the bakery section as well as the other newer bakers who work alongside her, are the friendliest I have ever come across at any bakery shop and they will go out of their way to help you, which is so nice! In terms of the bakery items themselves, I absolutely love the tiger cake, which to me tastes like a tuxedo cake (chocolate/mousse/fudge/cream layers). I also love the pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. It's great that a lot of the items are marked down the next day as well. read more

Not too excited about this place... It's nice and clean and has a decent selection but their deli is slacking. Ordered food ahead of time for a company luncheon and it was supposed to be ready at 10. They had enough notice (days) and yet here I sit with my coworker at 10:20 still waiting. They did take most expensive item off our order which is the reason for the 4 stars. But they still only get 4 for the continued wait time. I'll try it again, and hopefully can update to 5 stars. read more

This store went down the hill after the remodel. Narrow isles, whatever is supposed to be on sale is almost always sold out, rude associates and the great DELI is a history. After 8 years shopping in this Albertson at least once a week, I stopped shopping there. I decided to give it another shot last week. I placed online pick up order so I do not have to go inside. I placed the order on Friday afternoon for Saturday 9AM pickup. I received a text message on Saturday at 8 AM that my order will be ready soon I was told not to head tot he store just yet. I waited until 10.30 AM and no message confirming the order was ready. I decided to go to the store to see what was going on. I spoke to the associate at the Customer service desk about my order, she looked at me and told me that she did not know anything about online orders. She said she would call someone. Her phone did not work and she said she did not know what was wrong with it. At this point I told her that I hope someone can figure it out! After a while she said my order was ready and that someone will be bringing it. I waited another 15 minutes inside of the store for my order. Once receive it, I noticed that of course the items which were on sale that week were "out of stock". So, I received only half of my order. None of the associate apologized to me. They acted like I was making life difficult for them. I am done shopping in Albertsons. They are better options in San Marcos than that. Expensive and terrible service!!! read more

Ever since the merger of Albertsons and Vons and their weekly ads, I have almost given up on shopping at Albertsons. The hassle of reading the ad, logging onto the website, trying to find the sale items in the printed ad on the app, checking them off, then finding the items in the store, only to have them not ring up correctly at checkout is frustrating, to say the least. Today I shopped for 4 12-packs of Coke products for $10 and got the "coupon" loaded in my phone for that, but when I entered the store I saw an item on an endcap that was one of your Fab 5 items; i bought 3 Life Cereals, then added a 6-pack of Vernors Ginger Ale and flat of 24 Crystal Geyser Bottled Water, all on the Fab 5 according to the shelf tags. Of course, at the checkout, the Fab 5 didn't ring up at the discounted prices. The Manager, Patrick, went to see if the Ginger Ale was a Fab 5 item, came back minutes later and said, "No, we don't have any more in the back" and left the checkout lane we were in before I could ask him what that had to do with the Fab 5 tag on the shelf where I picked up the last Vernors. I told the checker, Sal, I knew all of them were marked as Fab 5 and expected the proper $1 discount per item per the shelf tags. We left the check-out and I showed him the shelf tags on all 3 items and they were, indeed, Fab 5. Sal gave me $5 off my final total and Patrick came up and gave him an ugly look when Sal told him that all the items were Fab 5, weren't ringing up correctly, and he'd given me the proper discount on my purchase. It took me almost 15 minutes to check out 10 items, 5 of which never left my cart and were scanned using the handheld scanner (4 Cokes and Crystal Geyser). The people waiting in line were not too thrilled with my check-out process. How many customers don't check their bill and are overcharged? This is the 3rd shopping trip in a row where I have had similar issues at Albertsons. I don't know how you could possibly make shopping for items on your weekly ad any more complicated and frustrating that with your Just for You Deals, clubs, app, phone numbers at checkout and then refuse to honor your own sales. By the way, I live in Metro San Diego, California and your system consistently puts me in either LA, Idaho, or Texas and will not let me change it on your computer system, even when I change my zip code between your stores in Vista and San Marcos, CA (92081 and 92078) since I live equidistant between them. read more

I live near this location and regularly visit for most of my grocery needs. I've really grown to enjoy a few of the employees from stopping in so frequently, they're all so helpful and in seemingly high spirits. These baggers have to be the worst I have ever seen. Let's let's put bread in the can bag. Yes let's overload the bag so it break and put glass bottles together. The rest of the crew is very friendly and have never had an issue but the baggers are an absolute joke. Common sense would be nice but it's not that common I guess. read more

My family and I have been shopping here for years. I have seen employees that are helpful behind the meat and fish area, then cashiers that seemed like they just want to go home. The produce section looks fresh, and the food aisles look nice and organized. A few other reasons why I go here is to use the Coinstar machine, get lotto, and scratchers. read more

Stop by to pick up some stuff for barbecue. I went to get some produce in the produce department and was very pleased by the fresh selection and how clean it was. The last time I tried to get a cake at the Albertsons close to my house, the got the name wrong. When I tried to have them fix it the person at the bakery said she didn't know how to fix it because she didn't do decorations. So I tried a different Albertsons- this one - tried to pre order but they said they can't due to inventory. Stater Brothers it is from now on. read more

The service desk is never staffed. In the fifteen or so minutes it will take the employees to notice you're waiting you can go across the way to Vons (opposite corner of the San Marcos Blvd / Rancho Santa Fe intersection) you can probably take care of the same business there. read more

I have to write this. I am disappointed in Albertson's. I used to love this store and although it is no longer my neighborhood store, I've spent thousands of dollars here throughout the years. Today I found myself in a bit of a predicament. I left my credit card and ID at home and had no cash for today, this meant I would have nothing to eat today... I was on my way to work. I drive right by Albertsons and have many times stopped in to get supplies for the day. I remembered I had my checkbook and I had an ID, not my driver's license, but a government ID (local). I was thinking it would be no big deal to get $10 worth of groceries so I wouldn't be without food today. To my surprise, this was not acceptable! The cashier called the Manager, who denied the request. There was no flexibility, apparently they have very strict procedures. So I will have to say goodbye to Albertson's. I will never go to this store again. Because, in a moment where they could've helped me, they chose not to. read more

Stopped by Albertsons on a Saturday afternoon to pick up some meat that was on sale. There were only two pieces of meat at the counter and none in the back. I was told that there would be no more available until Sunday. What kind of market has something on sale, runs out on a Saturday afternoon and then proceeds to tell me that they would be receiving a shipment on Sunday morning? Really? Who delivers on a Sunday and what professional business would run out of a sale item. That's what brought me in! This is our neighborhood store and its unfortunate that I usually have to shop at other grocery stores to get the selection and service that this store doesn't provide. read more

So, on the way home from work, decided to stop by the albertsons in san marcos (by the high school) to buy some salmon... long story short, meat dept under staffed, waited for 10 minutes while one customer was being helped..... 2 other customers walked away.. obviously not wanting to wait... tried to get some service and almost went over and picked up the phone to ask for some service. After a few more minutes of waiting i gave up.. At the check out I asked a staff member for a manager.... who never appeared.... Not the 1st time i have had issues with their meat dept. as on 2 other separate occasions i had purchased shell fish (clams) only to get them home and find they were "dead". upon calling the store and reaching the meat dept. asked what the tag date of harvest was... (which they are legally responsible to have available)... both times they were selling shell fish that was over 10 days past the sell date. on another occasion I purchased 2 micro brews that had a sale price on the shelf where multiple bottles of the beer i purchased were stocked. they rang up at full price and when i mentioned it they checked and responded that the sale price was on the beer stocked next to it... although the shelf was stocked fully with the beer "next"to it above the sale price.. The cashier / manager was snotty, condescending and to be honest, kind of a smart ass... I truly cant understand why this store continues to stay open. I sometimes also shop at the albertsons in shadowridge as its near my home and the difference is like night and day. The shadowridge store, clean, well staffed and friendly. The staff, Ursula, Victoria, Tammy, Gil, Dan, and all the others put their sister store to shame. They understand customer service and the store is noticeably cleaner, better staffed and trained... I also noticed ( being in the restaurant business) that the salmon i was going to purchase at the san marcos store looked old compared to the shadowridge store (not surprising considering my past experiences there). I will not shop at the san marcos store again and will advise others the same until they correct these serious customer service & quality issues... The staff there needs a reality check.... read more
