I am a little conflicted as I write this review. As I was 5th in line, I waited 30 mins to pick up a prescription. (Do they ever open the 2nd window?) When I finally was able to pick up my RX, the gal working the register was wonderful. Stressed, but wonderful. It's interesting to me that none of the pharmacists look up to see that the line is 10 deep. Everyone is heads down. Maybe hire a 2nd person to work the window during peak hours? Super sad to even have to write this cause we have been long time customers, but the deli has kind of gone to crap as far as customer service. 2 times now ive put orders in the AM for baked chicken in the evening, only to be told they don't have it, and it's a 20 minute wait with 7 people already waiting. The produce quality is exceptionally high, with some of the freshest dandelion greens, cilantro, parsley, and lettuce in the local area. The store is clean, well organized and has polite staff. Some item prices are very inflated, but careful shoppers will enjoy this supermarket. read more

I do like the store. It's a bit pricier than Fred Meyer across the street. But if you pay attention to their app and discount coupons, you can get pretty decent deals. Last time I shopped here, I made sure to check the app. I know it was work and pretty time consuming, but I spent $25 for a lot of groceries. You know you shopped well when the person at the register is surprised with your total check. They charge 8 cents per bag. It is a new thing to me. I lived in the South where customers were not charged for it. But I do like it - no extra plastic floating around out there. read more

They told me they had the medication in stock, but they just needed to fill it, and said they would send me a text when it's ready, assuring me that it would be ready before they close. I waited over an hour and saw people who were waiting and got there later than me pick up their meds, so I asked about the progress on the prescription. Turns out they completely just didn't do it or forgot to put me in queue to have my medication filled, and said I need to wait even longer for the lockbox to open for the medication, then proceeded to misgender me. After an hour and a half, I finally got the medication. This is the worst customer service experience I've had. read more

No enforcement of mask mandates. Maskless customers sticking their faces in bakery doors gingerly using paper to grab their bread. Why bother now? Even Their produce stocker on that night of sept 18 just blatantly walks around stocking raspberries and whatnot with his mask on his chin. I really miss this store being an Albertsons. Every since they switched hands things have gone a bit downhill. Sale prices don't always ring up correctly or are improperly labeled in store. Then they aren't honored. Checkers are usually very kind and helpful. One of the biggest downfalls has been on weekday mornings. I generally frequent the store for breakfast on my way to work. Lately there have been a regular group of three or four male employees outside the front doors smoking and blowing fumes. They goof around, run across the parking lot, and don't wear masks. I was so disappointed when Albertson's merged with Safeway and seems like to me this is when the Albertson's (Tumwater) started going downhill. It is terrible to go there in the AM cause they are very short staffed at that time. I use to really like Albertson's but they have gotten to where I cannot afford to go there because their prices are so high unless it is something on sale and then like all stores you need to be careful and check it out good if it is produce and check the sell by date if it is meat or other items. I don't understand why Safeway on Little Rock Rd closes their deli at inconsistent times during the main dinner hour?. I have gone to this Safeway (in Name Only) several times and the deli closes at the beginning of dinner hour...5 oclock. Workers are cleaning up to go home. Gone there at different times hoping I could catch them open but due to Safeway's inconsistency in their daily deli hours seems not to be conduit to great customer service or even minimal customer service. I have always recieved good service from any Safeway Store except this one. While making my complaint to the manager of my disappointment in their lack of service all the manager would talk about was how they can't find anyone to work and they can't work employees over 8 hours because of the union. In all reality Safeway/Albertson doesn't want to pay overtime even for the benefit of customer services. As the manager was telling me why they can't keep the deli open he said nothing about benefiting their customers but only supported their employees. I can go to Tumwater Square Safeway and the deli is always open with consistency until 8 pm no matter what. Why can't Safeway on Little Rock Road (which is closer to me than Tumwater Square) be as consistent with their hours and provide great customer services as other Safeways? Or atleast close at a consistent time each day? That would make sense to me for a bit of consistency to provide customer service. As I was leaving after speaking with the manager which was a waist of time, the manager kept telling me have a nice evening and I piped back and said, "I will I'm going to Fred Meyer's across the street. Told them they were a Safeway in name only that they still carried Albertsons lack of customer service and a bad attitude that Albertson's employees have carried all along. Old review is for Albertson's. The replacement Safeway is a little better when it comes to staff manners, but it's still a poor overall choice for groceries. You'll find more bare shelves here than other local stores. They are almost always higher priced for the same items as across the street at FM. In their favor is no surcharge on cashback and some Safeway branded items are good quality. read more

Since Albertsons has merged its a goat show shopping experience.....the things that should be placed together are clear on the other side of the store,for example: the crackers should be with the chips and nuts , but no they are by the meat.....the polish sausage is over by the seafood department and it should be by the bacon and hotdogs, also went to buy some beer and there was none not even in the cooler and then found out by chance the next time I showed up, the vendor decided to make a display with it over by seafood, also the checker set up when Albertsons was way better with the turntable.....I can't imagine who thought of this design! Most people are nice (the young men employees) but have came across some snarky women employees.....no thank you.....I will now be shopping at Walmart even if it's farther to go at least everything is placed where it should be read more

When prices are a bit higher than other major grocers you expect something to make it worth your while to shop there but I just have not found out what "that" is at Albertsons. This store has seen some days and needs a real good cleaning for a start and a complete remodel sooner than later. I don't want my meats pre-seasoned yet that is what they seem to excel in. I want decent produce at a decent price and holy crap a great portion of their produce is precut and packaged and overpriced. Pet food and accessories are not competitive in the least unless they are on sale which does not seem to happen very often. If you go in here on a weekday morning expect to have to search if you need help as it seems they just don't staff up for the morning hours. Everyone that works here seems to be worn down and that includes the manager who I have interacted with on more than one occasion. With Fred Meyer across the street having much better prices, a cleaner store and a much improved shopping experience it is hard to figure out why people shop here. With the Safeway merger I am seeing the content of the weekly ads align to the point that I think they are just using different printers. I hope the Albertsons mediocrity does not spread to Safeway. read more

I just don't like this place for many reasons. Service is slow and it smells like the 80s. Not sure how it still exists.

This Safeway is horrible since the merge. When it was Albertson's, I could get in and out in a reasonable amount of time and it was never so busy that I was unable to find parking. Ever since the "Grand Opening" as Safeway, the store is ALWAYS crowded, they are sold out of things I used to never have a problem buying and they don't carry a lot of items that I specifically shopped here for. The self check-out is a joke but waiting for the understaffed checkout lines is almost worse when you factor in the million people that came out of nowhere when the sign changed. I used to love this store, it was convenient, staff was friendly (although this hasn't changed, they are just too busy to be able to be too friendly these days) and, most importantly, it was reliable. I'm lucky to get out of here with 3/4 of the items on my list in a decent amount of time. I dislike going to any grocery store but this has now become the worst. Maybe when the "hype" dies down and people go back to where they shopped before I will try shopping here again. Until that happens, I guess I'll be going across the street to Fred Meyer. read more

If you want to buy expired food, just go to Grocery Outlet, at least it's less expensive! Just kidding, the food is fresher at Gross Out.

I only come here when there's a good deal on something I need. There's nothing wrong with this store, it just needs a little updating. With all of the other grocery stores in the area (Wal-fart, Fred Meyer, Costco) I find this place underwhelming. They do have a great beer selection and you can order kegs from here too! read more

This is just another one of those 'card' stores, mostly overpriced. Some of the employees are nice, but some aren't. I did a little shopping there when they stopped using the stupid card, and when something was on sale that I needed. For instance, they were selling some boneless/skinless chicken breasts for $1.67 or something, but they certainly needed a lot of trimming! And I STILL don't understand about the stupid card: How can something that costs them millions save me 40 cents? There must be something behind it, but no one seems to know what it is. So, go across the street to Fred Meyers -- that's where everyone else goes. read more

Just in the last week we have had two VERY negative experiences. On Thurs we found that ALL of the fresh herbs were expired and many by more than a month as well as all of the "organic lettuce". When asked to speak with a manager we got someone named Amy who was not dressed appropriately with torn pants, dirty hands and no clue what was going on in her department. We left and went to Fred Meyer just across the street. Last night we were craving ice cream so we made a "quick stop" only to find only two people working and long lines! We watched one guy slam his beer down in frustration and leave. When we told Cashier Gail what had happened she sighed and said "if you don't want to wait in line don't go to the gro store" After explaining that this was rather poor costumer service she laughed and made fun of the guy that left and us for bringing it up! This is no way to treat customers!!!! Expired food, hostile employees?!? How is this the customers fault??? We go there instead of Walmart to avoid long lines and rude people. No thanks, just save your money on overpriced, expired food and go somewhere they actually care about their customers! read more

This review is specifically for Sarah and her staff in the bakery department. I was recommended this particular bakery by my sister, who is not the biggest cake eater, for my wedding cake. Thats right.... Albertson's wedding cake. Holy mother of God. AMAZING!!!!! We ordered samples, and she had 12 full cupcakes with different fillings and flavors waiting to be picked up for free. We took them home and mulled them over (read: DEVOURED). The frosting she used was not the crusty old store bought kind of spackle that you usually find- it was real butter cream!!! The cake itself was moist and flavorful- real red velvet (drool), and the chocolate with raspberry filling was to die for. We ended up ordering 188 cupcakes with different flavors and fillings, and a 6 inch cutting cake for my husband and I. I also went on Etsy and bought my own wrappers to match my decor, and by doing that, Sarah gave me a discount on the cakes. All said and done, with DELIVERY to Gig Harbor, 319$ for all of that, and those cakes FLEW off the stand. When I first regarding the Albertson's about 10 years ago it was run down then, and I never bought anything from the bakery/deli /produce area because it was very very very expensive. I also stop using the pharmacy because they were the rudest promises I had ever had to deal with didn't matter how many times I had to complain to whoever the problem never got that. So I typically use it for its good selection of me and it's general election in the aisle area. Now I don't even shop in meat dept. Due to the rainbows of colors in the meats and none of them are the correct colors for fresh meat. I believe why they season their meat so much now is to hide the fact that their meat is not fresh, you can't even get fresh meat out of the display case it looks so rank. So there really isn't much reason to go there anymore. Especially the long lines and no one having the other coworker backs. I really hope that they combine the Safeway Albertson together close this Albertson given a complete rehaul and then open up the Albertson/Safeway in Albertsons spot. Don't waste your time money our patients because they certainly don't have any for you at this Albertson . read more
