I had such an amazing experience here, I was super nervous before going in, but as soon as we walked through the door, Paul made us feel completely at ease. He was so welcoming, cracking jokes the whole time, and it really helped calm my nerves and made the whole atmosphere feel comfortable and friendly. I wasn't completely sure which piercing I wanted, and Paul took the time to explain the differences between them. He told me which one would hurt less and which would be easier to change later on, which made my decision so much easier. When it came time for the piercing, he walked me through every step, making sure I knew what to expect. It was over so quickly that I barely even felt any pain. On top of that, he even gave me a cleaning spray to help take care of my piercing afterward, which I really appreciated. His professionalism, patience, and humor made the entire experience so much better than I expected. I came to Alchemy tattoo with my friend while in town for the weekend. She had pre-arranged for us to get some fun themed Texas Chainsaw Massacre tattoos since we were going to see the movie later for its 50th anniversary. I just happened to be visiting from Texas, so it seemed like a great way to celebrate the weekend! She mentioned that she had talked to Chris & that it was his idea. Not only did Chris come up with a clever & creative idea for us to mark the occasion, but he went all out. He drew up the exact chainsaw from the movie, matched the color & even added some blood on the blade. I love it! Their tattoos turned out great (different artists did theirs) and mine just is the worst tattoo I've ever seen. Jake is extremely skilled, patient, funny and does incredible line work. I found him through a friend and checked out his work on Instagram and I was impressed. I brought in my grandmother's handwriting and he was able to replicate it and make one of my visions a reality (as corny as that sounds). I had to reschedule and move the time around MANY times, and he was very patient and accommodating (thanks Jake!). Everyone at the shop was super chill and had great vibes...I'm totally coming to Jake again in the future once I figure out what I want next. My BFF and I met in LA on short notice and decided to get our matching tattoos that we'd been contemplating for years. We called alchemy because of all of the great yelp ratings and they said they take walk-ins on a first come first serve basis. We stopped in, talked with the receptionist and had a quote within 15 minutes. Within 30 mins I was on the table getting tattooed by Bruno. We were both in and out in under 2 hours, and although we paid a bit more than we thought it would cost, it was totally worth every penny! Horribly done. Charged me 100 for this. The artist said that he was able to do single needle and fine line, but now after talking to him he said it was done with a 3R. The lines are so thick and uneven. The simple heart is not symmetrical. I told him immediately after the tattoo was done that it was not done right have was think and not symmetrical and he said that "that's how single needle settles". Later he says that it wasn't even a single needle. Just really disappointed with this place. I feel lied to. He said he could do single needle but he actually didn't. He used a 3. I got my first tattoo here yesterday, to honor my dad. Josh was my artist, as he came highly recommended from a friend. Josh was simply the best. He stayed in contact with me before the appointment and was ready with design suggestions when I showed up. The shop is immaculate and they are following all covid protocols. Josh took his time, made sure I felt comfortable, and after all that, only charged me the shop minimum ($100). If I ever wanted more tattoos I would not hesitate to go back, and I would gladly send any friends or family to him and the shop. BEST. No other word necessary. My BFF and I first went in for a consultation, where they reviewed our design ideas, quoted our prices, and helped us select the artists we wanted. The consultation actually takes a bit of time as they try to get as much info as possible. We made appts for the next day, which happened to be NYE. I got a script tattoo done by Jake (see posted pic) and my friend got a really cool geometrical design by Alex, and we both couldn't be happier! Our tattoos were done beautifully. Jake has a quick but steady hand, and his lines are incredibly clean and even. We didn't get anything complicated done, but still, the process and healing have been really easy. Neither of us had any bleeding at all during the process, the redness went away overnight, and there's been minimal scabbing and dryness. You shouldn't choose a tattoo place just based on price (it is permanent, people), but it doesn't hurt that Alchemy is very reasonably priced - my tattoo was $70, and I put down a $40 deposit; my friend's tattoo (which was more complex) was $120, but also just a $40 deposit. Cash only, as others have already noted. Don't forget to tip your artist! Anyone who tells you that tattoos don't hurt is a liar liar pants on fire. Having said that, it really wasn't too bad - just be mindful of placement, do your research, and go to Alchemy. :) read more

After putting off this tattoo for three years, I finally gathered enough courage to finally go through with it today. I already had a piece in mind a couple weeks prior so I walked in to schedule an appointment with Marlon and put down a deposit. When I walked in for my appointment today, 1. Marlon first made a sketch of my piece with a minor few changes/suggestions which I was super open to 2. Modified the sizing of the piece so I can see how it looks on my body 3. Applied the final choice in different positions 4.& then THE PAIN BEGINS. Just kidding. Honestly, for being a first timer and getting my piece on the ribs I assumed it was going to be an extremely painful experience. However, Marlon was super gentle and followed up occasionally to see if I ever needed breaks. All in all, the whole process took about 1-1.5 hours to complete. Tips: - Arrive early to look for parking because it's super limited! I spent a good 10-15 minutes looking for a spot. - For those that are looking to bring a friend for moral support, unfortunately they do not allow others to go into the work space but they can support you from the outside/by text. Final Verdict: THUMBS UP! I highly recommend Marlon, HE'S AWESOME AND GREAT AT WHAT HE DOES! I will definitely refer him to any of my family/ friends in the future. read more

Then I decided I wanted Hermes wings on my ankles and I wanted it custom and honestly I had a lot of ideas and needed direction and felt overwhelmed. Thats where I met Marlon Toney. His style is bomb...after we got the size and shape down I basically told him to make it stylized and do whatever he likes as an artist and think would look good. Holy crap, it was better than I could of conjured up, it had everything I wanted in it and he was SUPER accommodating the entire 3 hour tattoo process (asking how I was doing making sure I was comfortable...very unjudgmental and patient throughout deciding where it should go and throughout making adjustments), it looked EXACTLY like his sketch in the finished project. I would basically only get tattooed by Marlon if I get any more tattoos. Also just hanging out in the shop late at night with all the artists were fun, they are all around great guys. I had some awesome conversation and basically enjoyed my time there. I went here originally last summer with two of my friends to get the Venus symbol tattooed on my ribs. My artist (Wyatt, who no longer works there) did an amazing job and touched up the one I have on my shoulder, all for 60 dollars. A year later, I came back to Alchemy because I wanted to get a tattoo of Frida Kahlo's piece "Wounded Deer" on my thigh. Sean was my artist and he was nothing short of amazing. I showed him what a I wanted, and made an appointment for that following Thursday. When I got there, he had drawn up a beautiful sketch and revamped it a couple of times. Let's start at the beginning...... 16 years ago I thought it'd be really cool to have my friends boyfriend give me a tattoo with a guitar string and homemade motor on my left shoulder. It was not really cool! It was horrible, to the point that when my mom (who forbade me to get tattoos) saw it she asked me, "When are you going to get it fixed?" I dealt with 16 years of explanations, crazy story telling on how I got it, and utter shame when wearing tank tops and halters. 16 years of showing numerous tattoo artists my "prison" tattoo (that is what I coined it to make it seem cool) and telling them my idea for a cover up, to only be snubbed or told I can't do that, I know arrogant tattoo artists I'm sure no one here has met any of them (insert sarcastic grin). I was finally rescued by a truly talented artist, David Robinson! I did not pick a traditional tattoo, you know the ones from the book or on the walls, nooooo I had to have my idea, something that told a story and meant something. I took him photos from the internet and told him what I wanted. He drew it, a TRUE, AMAZING ARTIST! The tattoo speaks for itself. They'll get your tattoo done for a quick buck but the quality of work and customer service is not worth it. While waiting to be helped someone was on the phone talking to a customer about what they wanted, they hung up the artist yells across to another one. "Another fine line hand tattoo again why can't anyone ever call asking for a Japanese traditional full sleeve" while rolling their eyes and laughing and mocking the person on the other end of the phone. I felt bad for the obviously uncomfortable woman next to me getting her second tattoo ever, a fine line one, by the artist who was just mocking that style. Doesn't your yelp say you specialize in all types? It took about 20-30 minutes for then to understand exactly what I wanted no matter how many times I described and explained it, even showed them reference photos. Not to mention the artist was constantly slamming the door aggressively and going outside for cigarette breaks. My tattoo was left with areas that just look mushed together, extra lines where there is not supposed to be, lines not connected, & poorly done shading, to be fair after the artist was done he told me to look in the mirror for "any missing lines or missed spots" but I am not the professional tattoo artist you are. And he did tell me "that's not possible" to every redrawn design until I agreed to do the first design he drew for me. Overall the experience felt uncomfortable and dismissive until I got exactly the piece they wanted to do, I have 12 tattoos from about 8 different spots and I've never been to a shop where the workers were so entitled, dismissive, unhelpful, and rude, a lot of better places out there, cheap prices but wouldn't go back. read more

There isn't enough time in the world for me to express how much I love Alchemy Tattoo. Marlon designed and inked my first tattoo, and I can't wait to get more from him! My roomie and I went to Alchemy looking for a specific artist, but it turned out that he'd moved away a week earlier. We were about to leave when the man at the front asked us what we wanted (teacup tattoos) and directed us to Marlon. After seeing pictures of his beautiful work, we made appointments for later that month. Over the next few weeks, we communicated with Marlon via email to explain what we each wanted so he could come up with a few possible designs. When the day of our appointments arrived, I was really nervous. Marlon was incredibly calm, patient, and friendly through the entire process. I liked different elements of two of the sketches he created for me, so he drew up a composite on the spot. It was perfect!! He really took his time making sure that the tat was ideally placed before getting started. I was nervous about the pain, but Marlon has a very gentle hand and only a few tender spots made me so much as wince. The price was very reasonable and I was happy to pay it after the superb experience I'd had. The tattoo healed quickly and well, and Marlon happily gave me a touch up later to fix a few spots that had fallen out when they'd scabbed. Strangers stop me all the time to compliment me specifically on my tattoo's clean linework. I follow Marlon on Instagram and I get the itch for more ink every time he shares another one of his creations. I couldn't be happier with this tattoo! I've been getting tattooed for 15 years now so I'm no spring chicken to the ins and outs of getting work done. I wanted a traditional style bird tattoo to fill a space on the back of my arm and I found Travis Furton on Instagram and came into the shop and booked an appointment with him. Travis made sure that he drew something custom to fit the very spot that needed filling-and made sure that I liked my artwork-completely- before he placed the stencil on me. Travis was also very sanitary and took every precaution to make sure that his workspace stayed sterile while he worked on me. (i'm crazy about that shit) He was also really thorough when it came to the color scheme of my tattoo, which he fully planned and discussed with me before he colored my tattoo, and he did an amazing job with the overall composition. I'm so happy with my Tattoo and I will definitely be back to Alchemy Tattoo to see Travis again soon. I researched for about 2 months to find an artist that i felt comfortable doing my first major piece, half sleeve portrait of lady justice (you can see the pic in the photo section). I've had two smaller tats done but really wanted an artist and not someone who could stencil well. I was happy to go with a David Robinson at Alchemy Tattoo. I provided Dave with a design that i liked but wanted him to make his own interpretation as an artist. After putting down a deposit on December 27, I came back for my first session on January 8. Upon filling out the paperwork, i mentioned to the owner, Chris, that when i was leaving my deposit there was a 10% off yelp check in discount on a tat over $50 but that it wasn't there any more. I was told that anything web related is run by a 3rd party so he wasn't sure what i was talking about. He didn't seem too concerned that a "3rd party" was posting discounts that he would have to honor. Since the discount wasn't on yelp there wasn't much i could say. As far as the design, i couldn't have been happier. Dave knockedd it out of the park. 1st session took 3.5 hours and did the outlining. Second session was 13 days later and the shading was completed in 3.5 hours. Thee last session was February 7. With the new month the 10% off a tattoo over $50 for checking into yelp. No restrictions other than it had to be work over $50. I check in and show it to the owner, Chris, & he immediately says he thinks its supposed to say for first time customers. He doesn't actually address the discount and my session begins to do the coloring. The owner splits for the night and doesn't address it. I'm looking for the discount 1) because they advertised it and 2) for the current session only and since its the last i could throw a few extra dollars to Dave. Dave hooked up the discount and said he would take it up with the owner. Dave is a true artist and i would recommend him to anyone that is looking to get work done. His hourly rate is a little more than others but on par with others who do the more complex pieces, like portraits. Plus, the work is for life. You shouldn't skimp on work like this anyway. Dave himself gets 5+ stars. I saw the work of the other guys, including the owner Chris, they all have talent. I only lump off a star because of how the owner tried to not honor the advertisement that his store is putting out there. If you want good work then go here. I just hope the place doesn't lose their talented artists due to management. read more

Update: the artist Bruno called and emailed me to apologize for the issue. I didn't get work done but I do appreciate the apology and trying to make things right. Came in at 12:30 to get a large piece. There were two young teenage clients ahead of me. Checked in and completed paperwork and asked the guy at the counter if we could grab a beer and come back. 45 minutes later return and speak with an artist. He asks for an hour to draw it up and get ready. We go run some errands and get the cash for my tattoo since the place is cash only and return at 3:30. No joke, there is a girl in the artists chair and my drawings haven't even started (paperwork still just laying on the printer)! He asks for another hour! At this point our World Series party and game begins in two hours. When I say that he stops tattooing the girl he's doing to say "you'd miss it anyway...don't you know you're tattoo is going to take three hours?" I wanted to say, "yes, I did know that which is why I came in five hours before my party began!" Turned around and walked out. Only reason for the second star is the very kind dude at the counter who was polite and so funny. He tried to save it, but I would never return when clients are treated so poorly. read more
