This is a mighty fine Aldi located conveniently at the major intersection of Dundee Road and Arlington Heights Road. They are in the same strip mall also housing the Seoul Supermarket and have ample and spacious parking. I could be mistaken, but this Aldi feels more open and spacious than some other Aldi's. One of my favorite Aldi items is the occasional purchase of a reasonably priced flavored ground coffee. read more

This store is now our preferred Aldi location. The Palatine Aldi location is too crowded. Nobody wears a mask and there's only one cashier and a ton of self check lanes all being run by that one cashier. The palatine location is severely understaffed. Spoiled vegetables were left on the shelf. At this location it's a day and night difference. This Aldi has staff members floating around the shelves monitoring products and assisting people. The other one did not. People also seem to wear masks at higher frequency in this location. There are no self checkout lanes which is a slight let down as having one or two machines would be nice. The store is for the most part clean and the lighting inside is bright enough to see all products. There are no dim spots and the ceiling is fully finished instead of being unfinished warehouse beam. There was only cashier but she was ringing customers extremely fast showing that she really knew her stuff and knew how to run a register in turbo mode. She also maintained a personable demeanor despite running everything at super high speed. Very happy with this Aldi compared to the other Aldi! read more

For me, this is an alright Aldi. It is definitely smaller than some of the other Aldi locations in the region and I feel like at times the inventory isn't arranged as nicely as the larger locations. With that said, it still provides all my favorite groceries at good prices with fairly quick checkout (though at times the lines have gotten pretty long). Parking is pretty easy here as well as the shopping center generally isn't super busy. The other big advantage of this location is the ability to supplement shopping at Seoul Market for any Korean groceries that one may need. read more

First off, I want to start by saying that I love Aldi and I shop there very frequently. I have been disappointed by this particular location on several occasions but today was the worst. I went shopping for my elderly father. To set the time, it is Monday evening around 6 PM. Not a busy time of the day. This store is just messy. The freezer section is crammed with goods and you can't see the selections let alone find what you want. The produce is down right disgusting. So much so that I took photos of it. There were cherries that were very clearly rotten. There were also grapes that had mold on them. The worst part is there was a stocker right there restocking and she didn't even remove the bad produce. She just dumped more on top of it. I will not shop at this Aldi anymore. Aldi in Buffalo Grove, DO BETTER! I shop at the location in Cary and it's clean and neat and well stocked. read more

This is my new favorite Aldi. I'll tell you why in a moment : ) This Aldi has all the characteristics of your typical Aldi... The lowest prices around. 25 cent shopping cart rental. No shopping bags. But here's where they are different than every other Aldi I've been to... no long checkout lines! They recently added 2 new self checkout lines--brilliant! In short this Aldi was out of the single item I entered the store to purchase, thus I needed to exit without buying anything. That said all possible exits were blocked except waiting in line to pay for a purchase... Said another way if there was an emergency such as a fire, everyone would be trapped trying to get out of the store through the only checkout lane that wasn't blocked off. Complete waste of time going into this small Aldi where it lacks variety and depth of stock. Then the frustration trying to exit the store. Never coming back to this location. Period. read more

We shop Aldi regularly. For many years I skipped Aldi - this was the only store they had in the area. Now there are several but this one is the closest to my home. In the past, it had limited stock. A little over a year ago we gave it another try. I was surprised to see that I had never reviewed it before so here goes. Aldi's prices cannot be beaten. While their selection of fresh fruit and vegetables is limited, the quality is usually outstanding. They are known for their dairy section. For a long time, for example, eggs were about $0.49 per dozen. With gas prices up, the prices for their milk and eggs have also gone up, but still are better than the larger grocers. Like their vegetables, they have a limited choice of meats, cheeses, chips, crackers, candy, snacks, etc., but always good quality and fair prices. They have an ample selection of frozen foods, canned and jarred goods and cater to a lot of ethnic tastes. I particularly like that they have specials geared toward the season. For example, in October (Octoberfest), they had a large selection of German delicacies and desserts. They also have an aisle (and sometimes more) dedicated to a variety of non-grocery items - flashlights, car seats, tools, electronics - it is always changing, always a surprise and the prices are outstanding on these specials. We usually walk out with some type of impulse buy from this section. My only complaint is in order to keep their prices down they have very limited staff. Generally, there is a line at the register and it takes a while for whoever is in back to realize it and open a lane. If you don't shop there and want to try, two tips (1) bring your own shopping bags or you will pay per bag. (2) In order to have people return carts and not leave them in the lot you need to put a quarter into a slot to unlock a cart. When you return the cart, your quarter pops out. read more

I used to shop here weekly in summer. They have hummus that I loved. Their prices before covid were very competitive and fair. I like that they offer a variety as well as seasonal items. They had honey butter spread once that was fantastic. Love their cheaper ice cream. Here's my issues. I hate no carts unless you borrow with a quarter. Seems like it works for them but really?? They let go some fantastic employees during COVID without really seeing they good or maybe they could have helped get them to stay. Their parking lot here is small. Sometimes without a cart given you don't buy too much. Like if I'm running in for hummus maybe if cart just there and you box at checkout my items I buy more. Tip to improve. I like your store but there are currently better ALDI. read more

Decided to stop in this place to see if they had milk on the cheap and lo and behold - $1.89 for a gallon! About 30 cents less than Costco - great deal. Also saved more than $1 on a jar of Miracle Whip - so they do have name brands. They do seem a bit understaffed though - the line tends to form quickly and if you're there for an item or two, there's no "Express Lane" so it can be a wait. But for certain items, it's worth the stop for me, so I plan to return. read more

This store has the worst customer service of any discount store and the rudest staff. In fact I am pretty sure some of them are racist. We had shopped there frequently despite the rudeness but today it was just too obvious to ignore! We were 3rd in a lane when a new lane opened up and she kept on trying to invite other people (who all happened to be white, the white guy in front of us said he didnt want to change lanes and the people behind us didn't want to go ahead of us, so politely asked us to go ahead), but she kept on telling us to wait and asking others at the same time. When no one else went, she very rudely checked us out with a frown on her face.... I know you run a discount store but come on you got to value your customers a little more... even Walmart and dollar shops have better customer service than that and thats saying something! read more

I love Aldi! I have been shopping at Aldi for 25 years. Not this location, mostly the old Aldi in wheeling that closed recently. I like this buffalo Grove store even more. The cheeses are great, also the milk and fresh veggies and fruits. Their brands are good and I have no complaints! Good to see them getting more name brands in. Save lots of $$ by shopping here! Everyone always has something to complain about when it's their fault and the store manager can't do anything about it. The staff is super nice and helpful when you're nice to them back. Aldi has limited staff, which is why they can sustain low prices, so when you're holding up the line because you're an idiot that doesn't know what's going on of course the manager will be a bit upset. read more

I have always liked Aldi. I'm writing this review because i notice that a few things have changed recently. The store seems to be adding more "known brands" but know your prices. Sometimes it's good and sometimes not. The Aldi products are very well priced - but test them out. Some are as excellent as name-brand items (thus they become regulars for our family), and some...not so much. Milk, Eggs....they are all the same, so why not shop for the least expensive. But now something that I REALLY want to congratulate the store/chain for. The PRODUCE! What a difference!! Beautiful produce - and far less expensive than the big chains or even the produce markets. And they STAY fresh - not seconds that someone else couldn't sell. I was shopping the other week and happened to have my grown daughter with me. "Fingerling potatoes? Organic Produce? I believe the location on the map is off quite a bit. Isn't Aldi across the street from Buffalo Grove High School? I shop here monthly for pantry items... canned corn, beans, tomatoes, tuna. Snack foods taste the same to me as more expensive name brand snacks, so I get those as well. Flour, sugar, etc. are fine (granted I am NOT a baker, so perhaps higher end products would be well worth the investment for the bakers out there). I will NOT buy produce or meats here. Not a frozen foodie, so I avoid (at any market). There is always a line at the checkout, hence the reason I don't come here just to pick up a couple of items. I'm not a native of Illinois and had never heard of Aldi until I moved here, so I'm not sure of the reputation that Aldi formerly had, but I can tell you that this type of market would do very well in some other parts of the country where people are on a budget. Stop here monthly for your pantry staples... and if you're rich, stop here monthly for your monthly donations to the local food shelters and food drives. Stretch that dollar farther than you would at Dominicks, Jewel, or even (gasp!!!) Walmart. read more

My family and I do most of our shopping here and go somewhere else for specialty items. Yes, it's true that you can't always find what you are looking for, but for the price, it's worth it. We've never had a problem with the service or the cleanliness of the store. If anything, we try to go at odd times to avoid crowds. This Aldi has really gone down hill. It's very close to my house but I now choose to go to the one in Lake Zurich. What made me change locations was the fact that I had purchased frozen items on a couple occasions and found that they had been defrosted at some point before I had bought them. This was especially true with ice cream bars etc. Then I started paying attention while shopping and saw that there were large palate of food that just sat in the isle waiting to be put into the freezer. I was in the store approximately forty-five minutes and the frozen food was still siting there when I left and who knows how long it had been sitting there before I arrived. This is a common thing with them!! Also they tend to block the isle with stock to the point that you can't get thru. Have noticed recently that they tend to be out of stock items all the time. read more

I remember the good old days when my poor family used to shop at Aldi's and buy a bunch of tasteless canned food and generic grade and orange sodas. BLECH! The smell of an Aldi's store always bothered me. That was the late 80s. I remember the filth and that rotting food smell. I always remember the constant flies flying around the produce. It made me sick on so many levels! Things are really different now! They have generic brands but what a great deal. WOW!!!! The store is spotless. You can buy everything form trail mix to pretzels to orange juice for MUCH cheaper. The canned food is exactly like what you would get from Jewel and the frozen food is absolutely excellent. I gave it four stars because I feel there are some things that are of inferior quality. The lunch meat is terrible! Blech! There are quite a few Aldi's only brands that have quite a few preservatives and artificial flavors. I stay far away from those items! I stick with simple things. Their meat is the refridgerated section is usually okay but I have come across some extra rubbery pork chops. We prefer meat from Costco anyways. read more

I have been shopping at this store since 2007. I love shopping at Aldi and this location is so convenient to my home. Their prices are very good and my family and I prefer the Aldi brands (cereal, baking items, breads) to most name brands. Like other reviewers indicated their produce has improved immensely in the last couple years. Shopping here has really helped us keep our food costs down since our sons were in college. read more

Definitely have been to better Aldi's. Not a lot of varieties here, cucumbers were 49 cents each so I was about to pick one up until I turned it over and it was rotted. The typical Aldi crowd here, except when I came there was a guy who keeps pushing his cart up and down the same isle, he looked anxious, not sure what's going on there but he was talking to himself though. Of course you know the drill, if you come here you need to have some bags ready because they do not give you plastic bags. Also, have a quarter ready because you'll need it to retrieve a shopping cart. After you are done with the cart, when you go return it you will get your quarter back. They only take cash and debit card, no credit cards here. They have a little bit of everything, not a lot of varieties, not the quality of costco by all means nor is it warehouse sized like costco or sam's mart. Most of the items are Aldi brands except for a few exceptions, like bounty paper towel etc. Items are generally pretty cheap, walmart price or garden fresh price but a few cents cheaper or the same. Not sure why the Lake Zurich Aldi is rated so highly on yelp, looks like if I get the chance I gotta check that one out. I was at this store today. It seemed pretty busy at 1pm on a Friday. I found everything I needed and more at very reasonable prices. The checkout was fast. If you're looking for something specific, this may not be the place for you. I cook just about everything from scratch so this place works for me. Used to be nice when it was run by competent management,I recently learned such manager was transferred out to a different location and was replaced by some lazy bum "manager" who spends more time on his phone than caring for this once-great store (I have seen him doing it many times since I am there all the time),the produce sections looks like a trash can and most of the cashiers are rude at best (some of the good ones are gone too,wonder why) specially that polish lady with black hair.. On 4/4/17 I came to ALDI store on 1202 W Dundee Rd, Buffalo Grove, IL 60089 to buy some Easter gifts. I was in an aisle is looking for gifts when 2 employees of the store started to unloaded stack of 5 chairs. They saw me, didn't ask me to leave the aisle. As I understand they choose the place where this stock of chairs will be placed, and the fact that I was there didn't stop their action. They unloaded these chairs close to my left side; hit my leg, smashed the gift I held in my hand. I told them that it was not nice, that they hit me, broke the gift. One of them answer was "So what?" I said that I will file a complaint. She was very disrespectful, said that I can do what I want. I asked who the manager of this location of AldI is. She said that she is the manager. She gave me her name, but didn't work with me on my complaint, and didn't give me any information for the Corporate Office to file it. And just left. I asked cashier for the name of the manager and he gave me a different name for this store manager. I am not a customer of ALDI stores, usually do my shopping in other stores, and can't imagine that something like this can happen in any of these stores. Not sure if it is a regular way to treat customers in ALDI sores, but the way I was treated in this store is not acceptable. But as I understand, the reason this employee was acting rude is that she knew that Corporation will cover her rudeness. I sent the complaint to ALDI Corporate Office and after one month I didn't hear from their representative. I contacted him and was told that nothing happened and my complaint was closed a month ago. Essentially he was saying that I was lying. I don't believe that rudeness and disrespect should be a part of low prices in these stores. I will send a copy of this review to the ALDI Headquarter in Germany. If it is the way ALADI chain in USA is treating customers - it has to be changed or these stores have to be closed. read more

This brand spankin' new Aldi was built in a former Osco Drug store that failed miserably. I was really impressed with the cleanliness of the store...maybe it's the paint color or something, just looks brighter and not so shlumpy. Seems like they have more room for products, there's a lot more new stuff and how the hell can you beat teriyaki marinade for .99 a bottle? Stay far away from the garlic caesar salad dressing unless you really like anchovies. Tons of brand name stuff the day I was there but I only had $20 on me so I had to get only the essentials. I only gave it four stars because people were looking for a checker and it was like the store was empty...bet I could've walked out and nobody would notice. This is as good a store if not better than the new one on Rand Road (NOT the one by Menards). And it's in wallking distance of my house so if I was inclined to get me one of those old lady shopping carts, I could potentially exercise my body as well as my shopping fetish. read more

I am writing this review as a former employee of this exact location. I can honestly say from my time there that the store is horribly run and management is completely inadequate. They refuse to hire more people, not because the store is doing poorly or because the company doesn't have enough money (the company makes a huge profit and this exact location makes more than every store in the entire suburban area). I would agree that this store has horrible customer service, from long lines to rude treatment of customers. I have worked in customer service my entire life and have never worked with a staff that is so careless. The management is the worst problem. You can't expect a store to run well when the store manager is constantly hanging outside in the bank with one of the shift leaders. Constant cigarette breaks out back while there are lines up front and people needing help in the store. They can't expect the one or two cashiers they have scheduled to handle stocking the store, cleaning, cashiering, assisting multiple customers, etc. The shift leaders and manager are expected to maintain the store as well as the clerks up front. If hanging out in the back smoking all the time isn't enough for management, there is also an inappropriate relationship going on between the store manager and one of the female shift leaders. When they have shifts together they are constantly in back or in the office talking about personal matters and when they aren't scheduled together they talk to each other ON THE STORE PHONE. Did I mention there is only one line so anyone who calls can't get through because they are on the phone for hours when they should be working. I have literally seen endless times that a customer has approached both of them or one of them separately and the customer has either been redirected for someone else to help them or they give a vague response so they can get back to chatting. Ignoring the indecency in the fact that the manager is a married man with children... it is not professional or even allowed in the company yet nothing is done about them. The few times that Aldi carries name brands.... you should really pay attention to the sizing of the product and pricing. Most of the time you think you are getting a name brand item but it's a smaller size or has less in it than what you would find in an actual store. Yes, from time to time they get a random deal for a name brand but it's typically stock that the companies want to move fast or something that they are trying out through Aldi before hitting larger stores (i.e. when Jell-O came out with their instant cheesecake mix, it hit Aldi before larger stores and did quite well. After that it was on the shelves of larger stores like Walmart, Target, Jewel, etc. and was REMOVED from Aldi because that trial of sales was over). Inventory is NOT take within the store. This is not a joke. When something is considered "low" it is then replenished but there is no actual intake of items. For example, should someone come into the store and STEAL 10 boxes of cookies, 10 candy bars, 10 cans of beans, etc. it would NEVER be known or reported because there is no inventory which means no way to identify theft. As long as they make a huge profit, they do not care. I'll break it down further, the cost to run the ENTIRE STORE is made in ONE DAY. So clearly they have the money for more employees to assist customers. Aldi draws you in with guarantees such as a replacement item and a full refund. Yes, that sounds great and ideal. It sounds like something all stores should do if they sell you something low quality and damaged. Aldi did not make this policy for the customers. Aldi made this policy because of all the people we come back for returns. It was the smartest thing they could do to attempt to battle the amount of returns because of unsatisfied (and sometimes very justifiably irate) customers. During peak hours in the summer, you would think the busiest store in the entire area would hire more people since there is money galore to do so. Instead the long time workers take vacations while the newer hires are required to work 50+ hour weeks. We were lucky to get any coverage from outside stores but that was typically to cover a 2-4 hour gap giving us 2 cashiers instead of 1... They did end up hiring ONE worker but keep in mind it takes time and training and the cashiers are required to reach a specific cashiering speed or they will be written up until termination is allowed. Speaking of cashiering speed, most customers do not want their items literally thrown or dropped into a metal cart especially when they are buying goods that can be damaged and crushed. You spent the time to choose it and are about to use your money you earned to buy it. It is because of the requirement to scan "x" amount of items within the time you start your first scan to the time you total it out. If you do NOT perform at or above the speed you will be written up and then FIRED. read more

Very disorganized and rude staff. Spend $200-$300 weekly for our local food pantry that supports families in need. Order is supposed to be picked for us and ready when we arrive. Never happens and when we question them we only get attitude in return. When we fax our order in they lose it. When we drop it off, in person, ahead of time they lose it or misplace so that it's virtually impossible to find when we show up. So we usually have to pick the order ourselves anyway. They don't care that we constant have problems and won't do anything to remedy them. Terrible customer service and operation at this store. When you go to Aldi's website they don't even have a phone number you can use to contact them directly. Email or their nonsense contact page is their only method.
