The moment we stepped inside the bakery, we were greeted right away. Staff were fast and friendly. Staff help assorted us with any questions we had. Bought some foods to try. I tried the cold cut banh mi. It was good. Bread was crispy and lots of filling. Bought some taro, white bean, black bean, corn desserts (Che) and jelly to try. All were delicious especially on a hot day. Bought some pastries which were limited at the end of the day. Got some chaud pork with onion, crawfish pie, meat pie, baked bao which all had great pastry taste, but the filling wasn't the greatest for me I guess. So, I did come back another day and got some pate chaud with bbq pork. Now that was delicious to my taste buds! I tried the green combo bánh bao and that was delicious as well!

For me, it's way too sweet, although that can be said of many other popular king cakes....so to each their own. I do appreciate the strong cinnamon flavor and tender crumb. I was very happy to try it and thankful for the family friend who stood in line to get one.

My son got the boudin omelet which looked quite good and he enjoyed it. The most spectacular dish was what my husband ordered which was a special on the board--the soft-shell crab Benedict. Omg, that was amazing. I ordered the crab grilled cheese and I did not have high hopes but this surpassed my expectations. It was so overstuffed with blue crab meat and just a little cheese. Wood floors and wood tables with matching wood chairs accent this North Shore location along with high hanging planter boxes over the bar. Every window has a stained glass piece of artwork hanging in it. I ordered their Crab Cakes Benedict from the specials board with Home Fries. Grits are available too. The crab cakes on an English Muffin with the eggs on top was super delicious and very filling to get my day started off right. The home fries were thoroughly cooked; nice and soft. Their orange juice offers two choices, regular and fresh squeezed. Service was excellent! I received prompt, courteous and friendly attention throughout my stay from all of the staff. There is extra parking on the side and in the back.

Jimmy J's Café 115 Chartres…read more I was in New Orleans from Thursday to Monday, during the first weekend of the 2026 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. I had checked out of my hotel (Crowne Plaza on Canal) and wanted to stop for breakfast before heading out to the airport. On foot, not more than a five-minute walk, I was heading for another venue (which will remain nameless) when I encountered the open doors at 115 Chartres, for Jimmy J's Café. I stopped and asked for a menu. Good choice! Small seating inside and out, and excellent service (thank you, Ashley Be.). Ashley took my order for à la carte: two eggs ($5), home fries ($4), and English muffin ($4). She correctly and thoughtfully asked if I wanted to just order Eggs Americano - but the menu showed the dish included bacon, which I was trying to avoid. So, I stayed with my order of the three side dishes and added an upside-down pineapple cocktail ($11) - not sure what was in it, but it was the perfect morning wake-up call. Ashley Be. did a remarkable job of directing incoming traffic and getting the whole room settled in just the 30 minutes I was there.

We were immediately welcomed by Stephanie, who also served as our waitress. She took care of bringing us some water and mentioned she'd be right back to take our breakfast order. My wife ordered the Beignets, and I decided to put together an à la carte breakfast. I chose the Andouille sausage, two eggs, and a half order of biscuits and gravy. The beignets arrived hot, fluffy, and fresh. The andouille sausage was good, though not quite as spicy as I'm accustomed to. The eggs were cooked as requested, and the biscuits and gravy were delicious. The biscuit was fluffy and buttery, and the gravy was perfectly seasoned with a rich flavor and a generous amount of sausage pieces mixed in. We felt the pricing was very reasonable for this area of the French Quarter, and we would definitely return. The service and friendliness by Stephanie made our visit even better.

All those things combined couldn't overcome the mediocre food and slow service I experienced. If I were one of the other randos who have reviewed this place, that would probably be enough of a review. I am highly suspicious of their legitimacy so I will make sure and be a little more descriptive. I am a breakfast loving lunatic. I prefer my breakfast joints to be more traditional than modern fancy pants. Daisy Dukes is slightly more fancy pants that places I normally frequent, which is odd considering it's named after super short jorts, but it is causal enough that you don't need to dress up or anything. The breakfast menu is kind of all over the place. There are a few omelets, but no traditional western omelet. To me, it seems that offering lunch and breakfast at the same time makes both meals suffer. I hate brunch which could make me biased, but I was hopeful for more traditional breakfast offerings. If you are more of a fancy breakfast person you will probably not be bothered by this fact. I ultimately decided on their Cajun omelet which promised hot sausage, cheddar, onions, tomatoes, paprika, pepper, and parsley. It contained all of those things, but had issues. The first was that it was very dry. I'm not sure if this was an issue with it being overcooked or something else, but omelets should be a little more moist. The next issue was the lack of flavor. When I think Cajun, I think of flavor. It may be ok to call something Cajun and sell it to tourists in the FQ with their lack of LA taste buds, but here it is false advertisement. I drenched in hot sauce which improved it considerably. Speaking of hot sauce, this is an area where DD shines. Their house hot sauce is a blend of Tabasco peppers and Habaneros. It is phenomenal. If you know anything about me you know I love hot sauce on almost everything. Their hot sauce is really stellar. If the issues I listed about my omelet were the only ones I experienced, this would probably be a three start review. Unfortunately the service was also pretty awful. The server was friendly, but she seemed far too busy to serve us effectively. Ordering took far too long as did getting drinks, refills, etc. When the food was delivered it came out at different times which seemed odd since the restaurant didn't appear that busy. There was a car show going on outside when I ate here so I am not sure if that is what made the service suffer. I'd estimate half of the tables were open when I sat down, but maybe there was something else going on I didn't see. But service really was not good. Would I go here again? Maybe. I say that because I do like supporting local breakfast joints. Based on this experience will it be my go-to spot? Negative.
