lunch burrito
Tim K.

Looking for local flavor we pulled a restaurant out of the "proverbial hat" and zero'd in on Mexican cuisine. Actually, we are looking for another restaurant and got tired of looking for it and our vehicle happen to be right out front of La Dona. A quick Yelp review and we found it to be a popular spot. Walked on in for a late lunch, we were quickly greeted by a number of the staff. With a smile on her face, a server told us to pick a table and we sat right down. She quickly came over with menus, made some recommendations, and brought along some fantastic chips and salsa. She asked us if we wanted to try some of their "hot" salsa that they only bring out for special occasions so of course we said "yes"! The chips and both salsa's were both terrific. Ironically, we both picked the same lunch menu, burritos. With a choice of four different meats, we both picked pork. The burrito comes with a choice of beans, I went with the refried. About five minutes later, the server returned with our food. This burrito was a large burrito, it came stuffed with pork, red sauce, melted jack cheese, guacamole, and sour cream. Since I'm not a big sour cream fan, I passed. More than enough to eat and plenty delicious. The meal was hot, they didn't cut any corners on any of the ingredients. Every bite was terrific. I got a doggy bag to take back what I couldn't finish. Oh, I had the Arnold Palmer to drink. It was terrific. Our server came back a number of times to keep filling the drink up. Yum!

Camarones a la Diabla

My husband and I were craving Mexican and so I started yelping. Found this place and decided to give it a try. I love the ambiance of the restaurant. Very festive and cute. Staff were friendly and polite. I got the camarones a la diabla and it was pretty good. The sauce is a little thinner than what I've had in the past but the flavor and spice was definitely there. I also ordered the shrimp ceviche tostada. Flavor was perfect. Just the perfect amount of sour. Only thing was, I wish it was a little spicier but that's what the hot sauce is for. My husband ordered the chimichanga with carnitas and he said he liked it. Overall, this place was okay. I would go again.

$4 for a side of sour cream?

This place actually has pretty good food and service, but they lose several stars from me for charging $4 for a side of sour cream and not telling me. Had they told me how much it cost I would have passed on it. I can buy two entire bottles of sour cream for that much. If it weren't for this I would definitely come back. Unfortunately, I can't support an establishment which chooses to unethically price gouge their customers.

The food was excellent and very obviously made with love and skill. Standouts were the Chile Verde and Carnitas. House made corn tortillas too! My mom loved her lime margarita. Service was friendly, professional and generous. This is a family run business that got through Covid and is well worth patronizing. We'll be back with friends!

Spicy chili sauce and avocado salsa

Stopped by on a work break based on the Yelp reviews. Came a little early as the severs were eating lunch before the rush. Friendly greeting from everyone. Ordered the chile verde. Received some nice crunchy chips with a chili sauce which was nice but spicy, and a blended avocado salsa. My dish came and the pork chunks were not braised or stewed in the sauce. It was poured over which meant less flavor IMO. I should've ordered the tacos that I was planning on. Service was prompt and friendly. Heard it's a good local place but probably my ordering mistake.

Chilaquiles Breakfast

This place was so beautiful, I've been feeling home sick and just the vibes in general give such an authentic feel for the latin culture. Food was amazing presentation was on point. Sorry for the late pic it was too good we forgot to take the picture first. Definitely coming back on a regular basis.

Lime margarita with tajin on the rim on the rocks. Chips and their homemade red salsa.

My first time here and I'm so glad I found this place on my way home. The authenticity of the food will definitely make me a repeat customer. The excellent customer service from the hostess/ server/cashier/ bomb margarita bartender made my experience just that more amazing. The prices were very reasonable too! Ooh let me not forget the bomb homemade salsas I had with my tacos and my chips. Both the green and red salsas were equally great! This is a family friendly environment or if you want to have a little date night or even with friends.. the ambience is equally accommodating. I'll be back for sure!!

We've been to La Doña on multiple occasions, why I haven't written a review is beyond me... Today we came in for their new weekend buffet option @ 25.00/person, which includes fountain and iced tea drinks. Excellent idea for a buffet... the last time we had AYCE w/ Mexican choices was at HometownBuffet or even at the Golden Coral lol La Doña offers authentic Mexican cuisine and the thoughtfulness that is seen in the dishes executed was really well done! We saw them being advertised on FB for weekend buffet at La Doña .. trying to get the word out, gatekeeping feels wrong....Hoping these reviews generate more foot traffic! Hits for me were their in-house tortillas and some smack verde chiliquiles! The fam enjoyed all their protein selection, pork chili verde, chicken fajitas, carne asada...their refried beans are so good: thick, creamy and powerfully flavorful with that lard/porky essence, along side some aromatic fluffy rice! There's chorizo and eggs, my daughter devoured along w/ some pineapple jello! Hubby liked their chicken mole and steak rancheros! They even offered a bread pudding w/ a flan topping...so yummy! Pazole was sublimely porky and smokey, and their hominy cooked to the desired consistency, soft and not chalky... their menudo w/ honeycomb tripe was very soft, no need to chew consistency...good enough for the teefless really! Add all fixings they offer on the side w/ a healthy squeeze of lime juice, onions and cilantro. The young ladies who served us brought endless drinks and cleared our plates and checked on us every so often. The vibe is here is always "welcome home familia"... la Doña really takes care of you...check them out yourself and support your local businesses! Mucho gracias!

Excellent service with a smile on a dark and rainy day. Coming in feels like taking shelter from the storm. The empty space was very welcoming. The food was out of this world, don't miss the green salsa. Faith restored in this spot!!

How it works: apps, desserts, and drinks you order with your server. Specialty rolls and sashimi you order at the sushi counter. For sashimi platters you specify what kind of fish and what size (this designates approx how many pieces you get, instead of you specifying like "i want 5 pieces of tuna"). You can also go up to the counter and grab plates or premade rolls or nigiri that are on the conveyor belt! Servers will clear the plates as you eat! The sashimi quality itself was much higher than i was expecting and the rolls were what you would expect from an ayce spot. I think I'm just really blown away by the setup that allows for pretty efficient AYCE (specifically at lunch). We were satisfied in under an hour! And for our total being basically $30 a person after tax and tip.... no complaints from me, only compliments hahahahhaa

You make your own bow of food (raw) and they cook it for you. Meal starts with noodles, then veggies, meat, and final stage is the sauce. They have a list of recommended spoonfuls of each, and you can get wild with it if you want! I went garlic heavy and really liked it. Veggies were cabbage, onion, broccoli, zucchini, mushrooms, sprouts, spinach, kale, peppers, and a few others. Meat was beef, pork, lamb, and chicken. I tried the beef and lamb with my two servings, preference was the beef. Ambiance is good - somewhat busy and they're cooking food nearly non stop. After our second plate a big lunch rush came in, we had enough already but wait would have been a bit longer after a group of 10 came in! Always a good sign when people keep coming in, and you can tell there are some regulars with the interactions from patrons and staff. You make your own food, so up to you to make it how you like it! We did the AYCE and I definitely got my money's worth. The service was courteous and prompt. The ambiance was typical for a K-BBQ spot- the open floor plan makes for a slightly louder place, but at least the music was not blasting so loudly that conversation was hindered. The menu has meat and other dishes that can be ordered a la carte, if all you can eat is not your thing. (Or if you don't want to have to grill your own meat.) We ordered: -Pork belly (regular, thin sliced, and soy garlic. All great, but the thin sliced has always been my favorite). -Marinated beef (tasty). -LA ribs (well marinated and not too salty). -Bulgogi and the Hawaiian bulgogi (the Hawaiian was good and I like the pineapple chunks to grill,, but preferred the regular because it was less sweet). -Shrimp (head and shell on, be prepared to peel and de-vein after grilling). -Marinated baby octopus (one of my son's favorite things he had there). Some highlights that will bring me back: -Sliced pickled radish to wrap the meat for a low carb option. -Glutinous rice paper to wrap the meat (nice and chewy texture, great touch to the marinated meat). -ALL of the banchan was spot on. Zingy kimchi, firm broccoli, not too sweet fishcakes, and seasoned bean sprouts were among our faves. -Last but not least, the crispy chicken wings. Crispy like Korean fried chicken should be with delicious sauces (we tried the sweet and spicy, and the soy garlic). Worth it to come back just for that. We will definitely be going back soon!
