    Mac n Cheese
    Ulyana K.

Essentially, overpriced bar food. Nothing too exciting in terms of flavor, but the menu seemed enticing initially. Nice variety for a bar. I decided to try out a bunch of their items, including the My Girlfriend Isn't Hungry, boneless wings with ranch, and a cheeseburger with a side of Mac n cheese. The best part of this meal was by far the Mac n cheese. It was creamy and delicious. Noodles were cooked very well, and a perfect amount of sauce. Not too oily either, and a good portion. Really, this was the only truly great thing I tried. The boneless wings were more like chicken nuggets. Not bad quality, but I just didn't expect them to be like that. Cooked well, not that crunchy though. When I ordered it with ranch, I assumed that would be liquid ranch, but I suppose they actually just used ranch rub, or they forgot the ranch. Wouldn't really recommend. The chicken in the My Girlfriend Isn't Hungry is similar to the boneless wings, just in chicken tender form. Again, only OK. The fires were limp and not that flavorful. Not crunchy either. Left a lot to be desired. I was most disappointed with the burger. There was virtually no cheese on it, and it was completely plain. No sauce with it either. It was essentially an over cooked patty with 2 store bought buns with virtually no seasoning. Definitely would not recommend. All in all, I wouldn't recommend the food (if you're order sober). The best item was the Mac and cheese, and everything else fell flat. Won't be coming back.

    Nice sports bar!

It almost feels like you discovered something you weren't supposed to find. The menu is just as random as the location -- sandwiches, tacos, salads, and small plates. It sounds chaotic... but somehow it works. But at botL, the cacio e pepe is king. Yes, that cacio e pepe. The infamous Roman dish with so few ingredients that it has no right delivering this much flavor. It's simple food that exposes bad technique instantly... and botL absolutely nails it. They don't mess around either, even incorporating the hollowed-out cheese wheel. Sure, it might look a little showy... but when it tastes this good, who cares? I added the blackened shrimp and it was cooked to perfection. Perfect seasoning, perfect texture, perfect addition. Sometimes the best meals come from the most unexpected places... and botL fits that bill perfectly.

Maizy, Lydia, attention to our service, Simone (chef) and Tom greeted us with smiles and welcomes! I never choose for anyone but said I'm ordering our entrees! Cacio de pepe with filet tips atop. Wedge salad, wedding soup, and stemmed glass martinis and cabernet with dinner! Oh, brûlée cheesecake with a birthday candle was perfect ending! We arrived later than planned and happily closed the place down. We never felt rushed to go!!! That's an exceptional quality! I love it here and so did they! Resers best especially during prime time and days, but the bar is fun too! Some side parking and neighborhood street parking! You can thank me later!

I'm participating in the Laurel Highlands Pour Tour and this location is new this year…read more I went in not really knowing anything about it, so I had a great conversation with the bartender about the history of Strange Roots, where they brew their beer (and where the production had moved from) and the difference between their locations. They lived up to the "experimental" name because they really had some unique brews. I sampled a few and was torn between the PB&J and the Koel Aid. I ended up with the Koel Aid because it was so incredibly different than anything I had ever tried before. It very much smelled like grape juice (or very fruity wine) but was very distinctly beer. It was such a weird (but tasty) drink. I enjoyed it so much that I ended up bringing a six pack home. I didn't order any food, but they had a lot of tasty sounding pizzas that people kept coming in for take out orders for. I definitely want to go back and try their pizza and some additional beers. Of note is that it is family friendly. There were two families when I was there and the bartender said they have sponsored youth organizations and teams in the past and had their celebrations at their location.

The service was also fantastic, the bartender Riley was so friendly and gave good suggestions and let me sample a few before I decided. I went with her suggestion and had the Koolade sour beer. The place smelled delicious as soon as we walked in! We all had different variations of the honey pie (which we loved), I tried the arugula salad and it was nice, others at our table had the garlic knots & the cheesesteak and they said they were wonderful. Definitely would recommend & return.
