Wonderfully surprised by this restaurant. Do not let the strip mall location deter you from enjoying the fine food. We were looking for something different and decided to give Alexander's a try. The food was delicious and the Greek wine was enjoyable. The Farfalle Pasta was awesome and the Tuscan Chicken was just as good. Loved the spice in the Farfalle though! I have had hummus all over the world and this is my absolute favorite. Ordered a take out so I could have more tomorrow! It is served with pita bread that is fresh and very tasty. Great Greek place in a strip mall in Garner of all places. The ambiance was great. Very nice place, would be a great date restaurant. Can't in here dirty lunch on a Sunday. I had the kafta souvlaki, wife had the chicken souvlaki. The homemade tzatziki was on point, and the fries were amazing. Fresh cut potatoes, seasoned with cheese, garlic, and herbs. Unreal good. Both were very good. Service was impeccable. I plan to come back here for dinner, I bet it's first rate. As a big fan of Greek food, finding authentic Greek food in this part of the world is hard, and this place looks like the real deal. read more

We're loving this place. Can't say we have branched out much on the menu, but the gyro & chicken souvlaki are definite favorites. They have some new additions to the menu we're going to try too. We just found out they started offering sat & sun brunch, which we'll be trying next week. Looks tasty & very reasonable prices. From the outside, I'd 9 out of 10 times pass it by, and the inside isn't fancy, but the food keeps us coming back. Great addition to Garner, really hope they stay around. read more

I really hate to write a bad review. My husband and I LOVE Mediterranean food and I have been dying to come here. Waitress said she would bring bread and didn't. Another waitress filled our water so we asked her for bread. She got it and brought it to the table next to us. I told our waitress and she said not to worry, she'll get it. She brought it with our dinner - no need for it now. Dinner was served right on top of our appetizer. My husbands $30 ribeye was tough as leather and thin. I tried his mashed potatoes and they tasted good. I'd been waiting for weeks to try the lemon risotto with chicken. The lemon sauce was good but the meal and especially the chicken were very bland. The chicken tasted like they threw it in a pan with no seasoning. I took it home and am going to give the chicken to my dogs and then heat up the risotto with artichokes (they were supposed to be in there but I didn't see or taste any), salt, lemon and Parmesan cheese. My husband and I both said it was the worst meal we've had in a long time. I don't know what happened since it has such great ratings and we had been really looking forward to it, but we definitely won't be back. read more

I loved this Mediterranean restaurant tucked into a corner of a grocery store strip mall. The extensive wine list featured local, Greek and Italian wines. You know the fish is fresh when the only fish on the menu other than shrimp and lobster ravioli are daily specials. I thoroughly enjoyed my Chilean Sea Bass with Lemon Risotto, which included Bass and vegetables cooked to perfection. The chef balanced the risotto ingredients with a zesty lemon sauce. The salad utilized fresh and ripe ingredients. I didn't have room for dessert but couldn't turn it down, either, so I got a slice of baklava cheesecake--yes BAKLAVA CHEESECAKE--to go. It's too bad I live a few hours away because I want to come back! read more

I have been here 3 times in the last month as this is my boyfriends favorite restaurant. Tonight is Valentines Day and we went again for the 3rd time. They had nice music tonight and handed each woman a rose which added a fantastic touch. The staff is great and the restaurant is romantic and inviting however this restaurant does not cater to menu changes of any kind or accommodate for allergies. For example on non holidays if you order the gyro plate the way it comes you can not switch out the lamb for beef (the plate is separated not wrapped by pita) for an up-charge nor can you order a filet by itself to add it onto the gyro plate. Most nice restaurants do accommodate and make you pay accordingly so please keep this in mind. Valentines Day obviously the menu is condensed which makes perfect sense that requests may not be accommodated but this is referring to when business is slow. The wait staff is nice and will ask if changes can be made but they will always come back and say no. The food is great and the Tiramisu is fantastic but just keep this in mind should you decide to come here. read more

My wife and I went on a recent Saturday night and the food and service was exceptional. My wife ordered a seafood dish and I ordered the gyro platter. We also had the Greek meatballs as an appetizer. Everything was delicious and freshly prepared. I also thought the prices were extremely reasonable. We'll definitely return next time we are in the area. A true dark and stormy night story! While heading back to the coast from Winston Salem, and trying to outrun an ice storm, we stopped at Alexander'sfor a quick dinner. The hours on Yelp said they were open until 10:00 but as we walked through the door at 8:58, we found out that they actually close at 9:00 on Thursdays. These wonderful people stayed open for us and fed us the most amazing meal we have had in a very long time. The Gyros platter was excellent, as well as the Chicken Kabob and Veal Parmesan. You can't go wrong. The chef/owner is from Greece so makes beautiful meals. I am utterly shocked. I usually attend Alexanders on a weekly basis because the food is aMaZiNg. But, there is one thing missing: a large crowd of people. With a great menu, fair prices, courteous wait staff, and one heck of a head chef there can only be two reasons in my mind: 1:)Not many people know about this place yet, or 2:) Too many people like corporate food chains with heat and serve food?! If the latter is the case, I am seriously loosing faith in humanity. I have absolutely no idea why some people on here have said there is no flavor? Whatever. The lamb is tender and flavorful, pork chops are juicy, and the veal parmigiana is better the most high-end Italian restaurants in this city. I think this place is highly overlooked. We stopped in after findng out about it. There was just a handful of people there around lunch time on Saturday. Both my wife and I ordered the Gyro platter and it was excellent and authentic. The atmosphere is ok but sort of dark and dank like a cave in the main dining room. They need to do something with lighting or remodel to bring in natural light. read more
