I've been here a few times since moving to Noblesville and it never disappoints! As a pregnant lady, I succumbed to the case of ice cream more than once...but it's so good!!!! As far as regular, non-ice cream food...it's the standard diner fare, like burgers and fries, but it's a pretty large menu so they have variety on their side. It's not stellar food but I don't expect stellar, over the top great food from diners. So for an a casual lunch followed by a sinful helping of ice cream, it's perfect. read more

If you're going to Alexander's for food you'd probably come away disappointed. That doesn't seem to be their focus and isn't a reason to go there. I love going to Alexander's for ice cream. The portions are generous (1 scoop is really the equivalent of 2) and there is a decent variety of flavors. When I take my family we can all 4 get ice cream and stay under $15. When you compare that to the cost of going to Cold Stone or somewhere similar then you see how good of a deal it is. read more

This probably won't be a very long review. I just love this place! I grew up going to Alexander's in the summer to get ice cream, so it has a special place in my heart and childhood memory. When you walk in to this place you feel right at home, I love what they've done with the interior decorating. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The best flavor in my opinion is the birthday cake. Cake batter ice cream with sprinkles and icing. It's to die for. They do sell diner food as well, but I've never tried it nor will I. I don't expect the food to be any good, but my god the ice cream is. I've always been a big fan of Cold Stone too, but Alexanders always wins in my book! read more

Nice venue, great ice cream, rude service. We were the only customers at the walk-up. My grandchildren were looking forward to enjoying a treat following dinner. Sadly, we were met with an unfriendly and sour attitude by one of the employees. The more senior one, I should add. Alexander's was a happy accidental find today. We really had no idea it was there, so we stopped in for a little afternoon pick me up. They are an ice cream parlor, but they also have a lunch type menu with a variety of sandwiches, etc. I just have four words for you: ELEPHANT EAR ICE CREAM It is every bit as good as it sounds! They are also on the Hamilton County Tenderloin trail, and feature the classic breaded treat on Tuesdays through the end of July. We did not try the tenderloin on this visit, but rest assured, we'll be back to give it a go! read more

My second visit to Alexander's On the Square did not disappoint! Ate lunch at Rosie's around the corner after attending a wonder Memorial Day Celebration then on to Alexander's for dessert. I love the historic atmosphere of Noblesville's town square and the shops. Alexander's does have a full menu of great comfort food but we were there for the ice cream. We all ordered a single which will get you more than enough ice cream for the price. I ordered Elephant Ear ice cream that was full of bit of cinnamon elephant ears! One of my family members order S'mores which contained graham cracker bits, chocolate and marshmallow which she found to be fantastic. The shop also sells South Bend Choc Co candies and art work by local artists! Love a business who supports the community! Food is disgusting. Service is appallingly slow. We waited 40 minutes for frozen, canned junk. We should have just walked out but kids were starving. I would have complained but I'm sure the teenagers working there could not care less. The shop is cute and if we were down in that area again, we might get ice cream but they should really stop selling food and stick to ice cream. read more

I've always been curious about this place because every time we drive by, it's always busy. So we finally stopped by to check it out and try their ice cream. There were people hanging outside so we thought there was a long line. We walked in and there were plenty of empty tables. We went straight to the Ice cream line. They have a large selection of flavors. What turned me off big time was when the 2 female servers, who both have long hair, let their hair hang an inch above the ice cream while they were bent down scooping ice cream from the containers. One of the servers had long blonde ponytail while the other had long dreadlocks. Need I say more? read more

Love seeing them support the local teams. Loved the free sub sandwich & chips option. Went with my family for some ice cream. Got our ice cream and sat down. While eating, I watch various staff, count money, sweep and empty the dust pan, scratch their bare back, wipe their nose/face, scratch their head and then touch cones, scoop ice cream, and touch bowls all with out washing their hands. Not to mention the cone that on the top of the ice cream case that multiple kids tougher then it was placed back in the cone canister. Very concerned about their thoughts on sanitation. They stock my favorite cinnamon ice cream year round - you can't always find it at other places. Prices are reasonable too. Alexander's resembles and old-fashioned soda shop, complete with painted tin ceiling and counter service. I'd like to think it was once a pharmacy/card store/soda fountain, but I don't know this for sure. Alexander's is fairly good size, with several booths along one wall, a few tables in the middle of the space and a small counter service area wedged in between the ice cream freezers. On my visit, several families were happily chowing down on "basket" lunches of sandwiches and fries (the reuben looked really tasty) and bowls of chili. Since we had already eaten, we were relegated to ice cream only....darn! Alexander's carries the "Velvet" brand, which I had heard of but never tried. I chose the Florida orange sherbet and it was just perfect on such a sunny day....true orange flavor and not too sweet. I will definitely look for this in the store and recommend you do the same if you like orange sherbet :-) A single serving here will get you what is normally a double scoop elsewhere. Nice young folks working here on our visit, but we did have to wait quite a while because the place was busy. read more

Nice place to visit Once,. The food was barely warm and mostly tasteless. Was never offered a refill on drinks , the service was lacking, to say the least. I don't think that anyone working there was over 21. The ice cream was the only thing that saved the trip. large quantities for the money. Never even received my check, had to go to the counter and have them add it up. It is a neat little place to visit, but for us, one time was enough. read more

Great place to stop for ice cream if you're in the area. The food is nothing special, but the ice cream is tasty, with plenty of variety and huge portions. Staff are very friendly and accommodating - one guy who had served me before went out of his way to say hi to me when he stopped by on his day off! The place is adorable. One downside is that the aisles are really narrow, so it can be a little difficult to navigate if there are a lot of people. Be prepared to say "Excuse me" more than once! read more

I wouldn't go here. Me and my boyfriend went here on a weekend and we sat down, we intended on getting lunch and ice cream. We walk in and had to go all the way to the back wall because there wasn't a clean table. Then we sat down and I noticed there was only two employees working out front it seemed, again on a weekend. So at first I thought I'd cut them some slack because they were busy. Well there was a girl and a guy, the girl passes our table and asks if we are there for food, I said yes. She walks away, and passes our table about 5 more times over a course of 15 minutes without saying another word to us. Not even getting our drink order, and the guy makes no effort at all to come over either. We finally just got up and left after she decided to help a table that had just walked in, when we had been waiting for 15 minutes. read more

We like Alexander's because it's local and quaint, and it really contributes to the ambience of downtown Noblesville (grab a cone and head out to the square on warm evenings--there are plenty of benches and it's very pedestrian-friendly). They serve Velvet brand ice cream, which tastes good, and they offer dozens of flavors, but it's not like it's house made ice cream you can't get anywhere else. The other reason I'm a bit lukewarm on Alexander's is that the kids working behind the counter get pretty frazzled with the long lines in warm weather, and so the service isn't spectacular. Be prepared to stand in line for a while. But hey, the portions are huge (a double scoop filled an entire dish to the top) and walking around the square with ice cream is a nice way to spend an evening. read more

Food is of poor quality for the price. We got a reuben ($10), a southern chicken salad ($9), a club ($9) and a nachos with cheese ($7), along with an order of fried pickles ($6) Pretty sure the fried pickles were the ones from GFS, which is fine. but the serving size was very small. the nachos were the ones you would get from a sporting event with a super thick glob of highly processed cheeese. the other items were not terrible, but definitely not worth what we paid. I have had a $10 Reuben plenty of times at other places and this was not even in the same ballpark. The kids working were all pretty nice, but overwhelmed and could tell they were not trained very well. I blame the management. Also, kind of weird that you basically walk through the kitchen to get to the bathroom. The same kid that was serving was also cooking, so we could just see him struggling to make orders. this was a Sunday with an event going on (Flannel Fest), so poor planning. The ice cream was good. Overall, it kind of reminded me of a restaurant you would see on Kitchen Nightmares. They have existed because they have the ice cream, but they should either completely revamp their food menu or just not do it at all. Sorry, I would not recommend eating there to anyone. read more

Every time I've been here the ice cream tastes freezer burnt. I wish they made their own instead of purchasing what I could buy at the grocery store for much cheaper. I agree with some of the other reviewers that it's worth the drive to go to Handels instead. read more

Sorry, but even though I would like to "love" this place, it is absolutely horrible both times I've been here. Today was the last, as the 30 minute plus wait only to be ignored by the incompetent and rude wait-staff will definitely be the last. Which I guess I should be grateful for since it gave me the chance to notice how filthy and dirty it is, besides the lousy service. Floors are dirt encrusted, the tables were obviously not wiped down between customers. Ours was not just dirty, but flies everywhere. The place had six customers and four waitresses couldn't manage to attend to even this. After 30 minutes I got fed up and left. Honestly, if you want to run a decent business, cleanliness should be at the top of the list, and then maybe try having some competent and polite staff. This place was so filthy I won't step foot in here again. The health department needs to inspect it - flies everywhere and it smelled of sewage. read more
