    pistachio baklava and pistachio kataifi
    Anh P.

Oklava is a Turkish coffee and dessert shop in downtown Palo Alto. In short, nice location, great vibe, free Wi-Fi, and plenty of seating, make this a great place to relax or study. They offer a wide selection of Turkish pastries and desserts, from which I tried the pistachio baklava and the pistachio kataifi. Both were fresh, though a little sweeter than my personal preference. But I felt that all Turkish desserts are traditionally quite sweet, so it's just authentic. Staff was friendly and helpful when recommending what to order, which I appreciated as a first-time visitor. The store is clean and cozy. Overall, a nice neighborhood coffee shop. Next time I'll try their drinks and see how it goes.

I'm adding photos from our different visits. Oklava feels like a neighbor's home to us--warm, welcoming, and sincere every time we come. Our absolute favorite is the profiterole. Finding that authentic Turkish taste here truly makes us so happy--it's exactly what we miss and love. What also makes this place special is the team. There are two staff members we see regularly, and they are incredibly attentive and detail-oriented. They provide such high-quality service, even on very busy days. The coffees they make are delicious, and I've noticed how they take care of guests so thoughtfully--sometimes even right at your table. Huge applause to both of them--they're doing an amazing job!

Oklava has become one of my favorite spots in Palo Alto. Unlike many cafés in the area that seem filled with people taking business meetings or working on their laptops all day, I usually come here for something much simpler: catching up with friends, relaxing, and enjoying good conversation. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and comfortable without feeling rushed. Whether we're staying for a quick coffee or spending a couple of hours chatting, the staff has always been friendly and the environment feels inviting. The coffee and pastries are consistently good, and it's a great place to unwind from the fast-paced Silicon Valley routine. Oklava is definitely worth a visit.

Our family loves Oklava Cafe. It is my second time coming here, and the staff are so lovely. The food is delicious authentic Turkish food and we learned about the dishes from the Turkish staff. It is a great experience for us to try , and we love buying their desserts to go too. The double all day breakfast & Turkish tea is delightful. Last time I brought my baby and grandparents here, and this time came with husband. Thanks Oklava for great time!

Stumbled upon this cute cafe while looking for a post-dinner coffee. They have a bright and welcoming vibe with a variety of Turkish sweets. The service was prompt and friendly, they explained the types of baklava and answered our questions as we made our selections. We got two types of baklava, one drizzled with honey syrup, the other with sugar syrup. We also got coffee to-go which was well made. They also had a variety of Turkish baked goods, which are available as an assortment or as pre-packaged goodies, if you're looking for a gift box The Simit looked particularly interesting and I'm looking forward to visiting them again when I'm hungry!

I stopped by on a weekday afternoon. The place was full. They had a ton of turkish sweets. Everything looked nice. Double Pistachio baklava was my favorite item. Double walnut baklava was good as well. Chocolate pistachio baklava was ok. I had a green cookie, which was good too.

I liked this place for their Turkish coffee and outside patio but after taking this photo of my coffee and the outdoor patio to send my girlfriend. Their employee crossed the street to get in my face about taking a photo and put his hand in my face thinking it was Instagram and he wouldn't get his hand slapped out my face and him pushed back as he threatened me. All because he thought i took a photo of his mustache having middle eastern friends who i could care less about.

This is just from my personal experience, but the baklava was extremely sweet. Most, if not all, of the pieces I ordered felt as if they were dripping in honey and every bite felt wet. I do gravitate more towards the walnut baklava but I couldn't eat one whole piece without water. If I were to come back, I'd probably grab an espresso to balance out the sweetness. The staff was very patient with me as I struggled to decide which pieces I wanted. Thank you for the kindness!

Cute cafe with a nice selection of sweet and savoury items. The tables are very closely spaced together - it's hard not to hear your Neighbours conversation. Note that they discourage using laptops on Friday Saturday and Sunday.

    Kavurma with Simit

My first time having a traditional Turkish breakfast and it was DELICIOUS. We ordered a Turkish breakfast (single) and the kavurma eggs with simit. Between the two of us, we had to order more simit, but we felt so satisfied after. I loved everything the Turkish breakfast had to offer (although the cheese is on the sharper side and not my usual preference) and the honey and kaymak was my FAVORITE. We also got Turkish coffee and their tea. The baklava was also amazing and my boyfriend and I plan on coming back next time we're in the area. It does get busy so I would recommend going early and it's better for smaller groups.

Came here for Sunday brunch because I wanted to try their Turkish breakfast, and it did not disappoint. Beautifully presented -- sesame bread, a boiled egg, and small portions of everything from cheese to olives to spreads. It was as lovely to look at as it was to eat, with a nice mix of flavors and textures. The pistachio latte was also on point -- smooth, nutty, and just sweet enough. Definitely something I'd come back for. My friends ordered pastries, and unfortunately, they didn't love them. They said they were a bit bland. My dish was perfect, but theirs fell short.

I visited Oklava on May 6, 2026, with a couple of friends for an abaya photo shoot we were having for our friend's boutique. The manager, Omer, and the entire staff were incredibly kind, respectful, and welcoming, making us feel right at home as we enjoyed our beverages and pastries. I ordered the pistachio kunefe, one of my favorite desserts, and it did not disappoint. The ambiance was peaceful, and the cafe itself was clean and dreamy, which really enhanced the overall experience.

    Triangle baklava, Americano

Delightful Turkish cafe in the heart of downtown Palo Alto! I was originally just planning on popping my head in for a quick caffeine pick-me-up before heading to a library to work, but I loved the vibes (and treats) at Oklava so much that I ended up staying almost the whole day. I started off with an americano and slice of their triangle baklava, which were both fantastic. The coffee was rich and nutty, with just the right level of brightness. It went perfectly with the sweet, decadent baklava, which had beautiful layers and all the right balances of textures and flavors. It was certainly a sweet treat but not overly so -- I've definitely had a few baklava that felt almost sickly sweet, but this one was perfectly balanced. They have a wide array of different types of baklava in different shapes / styles or using different nuts, so I'll definitely have to come back to try the rest! I was feeling a bit peckish later that afternoon (as delicious as baklava is, it doesn't quite count as lunch) and ordered their spinach spiral bourek. It was outstanding -- super flaky and buttery, with a generous helping of flavorful sautéed spinach. It was especially tasty after they heated it up, and it was the perfect mid-day savory treat. Beyond the food, the staff is super friendly and accommodating. They won't even *let* you pick up your own food / drink and are very adamant about delivering it to you. They're extremely knowledgeable and willing to answer any and all questions, and all around very sweet. The space is also lovely; there's plenty of seating, speedy Wifi, and cute although relatively simple decor. It can get quite crowded and loud in the afternoon, but it was pretty empty in the mid / late-morning period; if you want to settle in for a long time, I'd recommend getting there earlier rather than later.

As someone who likes Turkish food, this felt like a strong contender. Food: We started with the lahmacun which is made up of a thin Turkish flatbread topped with ground beef, tomato, onion, pepper, and garlic. It was beautifully thin and crispy, with just the right amount of topping. Honestly, add a small salad and you've got the kind of lunch that makes you feel satisfied. This lahmacun is one of the better versions I've had which made it extra tragic to learn it's a lunch-only situation. Why gatekeep happiness to daytime hours? For my entree, I ordered the Alinazik which was grilled tenderloin skewers over eggplant labneh. The beef was tender and the labneh was creamy, savory and a tad smoky. I saw that they offer a $44.95 prix fixe menu, which sounds great in theory, except for the small catch that everyone at the table has to commit. A bit of a "we ride together, we prix fixe together" situation which may not work depending on your dining companion(s) dietary restrictions. Atmosphere: The space is bright, airy, and stylish. The high ceilings resulted in lots of natural light, and a large bar that quietly suggests, "you could have a cocktail or two." One slightly odd note: The bathroom lighting is very dim. Like... "is this ambiance or did someone forget a switch?" kind of dim. Not a dealbreaker, just a curious contrast to the otherwise well-lit space. Overall: A solid pick for Turkish food in Palo Alto located off Emerson and a successful group lunch choice (I will be taking full credit). I'd happily come back to explore more of the menu. I'm already eyeing the Pirzola (bone-in lamb chops) or the Filet of Levrek (branzino) and maybe lobby for all-day lahmacun.

Me and my son thought that we should be able to eat it, even if it was a bit on the rare side, and we did. It wasn't the perfect situation for us, which is the 3 stars, but it wasn't bad. Moral of the story, if you like your tomahawk cooked in one piece, this is not the place for you. For me if it is slices, then it is no longer tomahawk but rather sliced steaks and that's not why I am here. Will we go there again? Most probably, but 100% not for tomahawk.
