Good was great. Atmosphere was great. But my waitress was terrible. She 100% didn't want to be there... she brought me my pizza in a to-go box and a check and I didn't even ask for it. So I had one beer and ordered a pizza, she shows up with pizza boxed up to go and a check while I've got 1/4th a beer left in my glass. I told her I wasn't ready to go and wanted another beer and she have me an attitude as if I was putting her out. So I'd go back I guess since the food was great... but the service from this waitress was pretty terrible. read more

Another Rolla Classic!! Alex's is a constant go to. The pizza is made is house and it's remarkable. The pastas are another go to, especially the Alfredo. I will warn you though, you have to really enjoy garlic to appreciate this dish. The wait staff are always nothing less than kind here! Stay groovy y'all! read more

Was excited to eat here for the fresh dough and ingredients. However, it was just not to my liking at all. I love all kinds of pizza but the lack of sauce on my pizza and the ground meat they use was just not tasty to me. I hate to say it, but its hard for me to dislike a pizza. Sidebar:The place was a frozen tundra from the air conditioning, so bring a sweatshirt if you go. Lastly, I ordered a side of sauce to add to the pizza and they brought it out cold, and I was done after that. What the?? Who wants cold pizza sauce, and they charged me 50 cents to boot. Don't try the lasagna. It does not taste remotely Italian. It's more like cowboys would cook up in a chuck wagon on the range. It's also very heavy and hearty. So, maybe just the thing on a cold, snowy day.....but in no way is it Italian! read more

Took the kids to Alex's for some pizza last night. Pizza was great. We got the meat pizza and the Greek sausage was amazing. The server seemed a little overwhelmed but did a great job. The cheese balls hit the spot and the ravioli was fantastic. The only reason I'm not giving the 5th star is one of the servers we quit going to another restaurant after she was continually rude and spit in my drink getting her fired. It was unsettling getting dirty looks anf talked about to other staff. The Pizza was very good although the layer of ground beef is a little much covering a full layer under the cheese. For those who had bad reviews of the food you should have tried the pizza at Alex's PIZZA Palace! We had the cheese balls first and they were good. Then we ordered a thin crust pepperoni pizza with extra cheese. I believe the extra cheese was unnecessary as it was LOADED! Service was friendly and she helped us find a nearby park to walk and a breakfast place for the morning. We were there at 3 on a Saturday afternoon and it was very quiet. Since we didn't order anything else u can't speak on the rest of the menu but the pizza was excellent and the sauce was delicious! read more

I only recently moved to Rolla, and I have many high food sensitivities. My sensitivities (causing migraines, rashes, and pain) include gluten, dairy, eggs, soy, almonds, peanuts, onions, garlic, and various other things. Alex's was the 3rd place in town that I ever went to, and I love it. They have options to accommodate all of my allergies/sensitivities. The only complaint I have is that of course my meals are expensive and not as large as others. But... still delicious! I only treat myself to Alex's maybe once a week or every other week. I get gluten free pizza, no cheese, pepperoni, ham and spinach. It's delicious! I also highly recommend the Zeus Gyro and Cheeseballs (if I could eat them, I definitely would without hesitation). read more

Alex's Pizza has been the college favorite pizza place in Rolla since the 1960s. I ate lunch there on Friday. It had been a few years since my last visit and the place has gone through an extensive remodel. I think the food is really good here but not amazing. I ordered Spanakopita and it was good but missing something. Perhaps the best thing on their menu is their gyro pizza. They put gyro meat on the pizza as a topping. It's good but again, just missing some spices. They fold over the edge of the pizza crust here. It looks good and tastes good. Other orders at the table were the spaghetti and meatballs and the chicken parmigiana. I actually do a fair amount of eating around this area because I have a farm within 40 minutes of here. If I'm going by Rolla, MO standards I'm giving this place a 5 but if I'm going by St. Louis standards I'd go with a 3 so I'll average it out to a 4. :-) read more

I am someone who works on the road more than half the year. Sometimes in smaller towns, sometimes Chicago, Nashville or Philadelphia. It's been a while since a small town pizza place blew my mind like Alex's. The pizza is spectacular. It's a "toppings-under-the-cheese" style and the flavors, and the quality of the cheese and toppings is astounding. The crust is perfect: deep brown, slightly salty, crisp and not doughy. Truly outstanding we are from out of town and we tried three pizza places. This pizza is awesome! Quick delivery too. We also adventured and had some subs in my past it was risky from a pizza shop ordering a sub the results were never good. Pros: 1. Perfect small/college town pizza joint! Atmosphere is great nestled in downtown Rolla and not far from the University. 2. The food is very good too. Excellent pizza and we got free ravioli with the purchase of a large pizza on Sunday! 3. Unlike other places in Rolla, this place served local and craft beer as well. They had quite a few on tap including the local brewery in town. 4. Large place with lots of seating. There is an open bar/big group section and another with smaller booths and tables. Cons: None! Definitely worth checking out this small town gem in Rolla. read more

When I think of a "college pizza" place: I think of a slightly grungy, hole in the wall restaurant thats open 'till 4am that has your classic onion rings, cheese sticks, pitchers of beer, and yummy yummy greasy pizza. Okay so I don't know what people in Rolla consider a college pizza place, but this restaurant way exceeded my expectations! My sister and I sat down for lunch, and the seating area had a really great ambiance. We shared a medium Mediterranean pizza, and for sides she got the Greek salad and I had the spanakopita. The pizza was delicious and filling and gosh I could eat spanakopita for the rest of eternity if it were possible! My sister's only gripe with the Greek salad was that she wished that she ordered the dressing on the side because the salad was drowning in it but it was still enjoyable. Lucky lucky college students in Rolla for their top notch pizza joint! I'm looking at you Boston with your thousands of college kids and greased out pizza places, take notice! read more

Alex's Pizza is a great place to eat. They have an eclectic and diverse menu which includes American, Italian and Greek specialties. The gyro sandwich is fabulous and the Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo has a very rich Alfredo sauce which makes this dish a repeat dish. The beverage selection is quite good. Good cold beer, (I like the stout) a great wine list and an excellent variety of liquors. You must save room for dessert, even if you have to " doggy bag" some of your food. Atmosphere was good for a casual meal, friends, family, casual date, etc. The cheese balls were great (maybe a little pricey for fried cheese) and if you want something you can't get elsewhere try them! There is some pizza that just makes your day I was really looking forward to that tonight when I ordered the meat lovers for the kids and I. I was not pleased with it and it didn't make my day. The hamburger was very bland and unfortunately that was the main meat so it covered up the taste of pretty much everything else. It didn't seem to have any seasoning to it. Also the middle few pieces had very thin dough that wasn't cooked all the way and the edges we pretty done. I would like to give Alex's pizza another chance but we will see the price did not fit the product I could have gotten a frozen pizza been happier. read more
