It's been awhile since we have dined here , but after packing up from a successful semester at MO S & T, we stopped here for dinner before heading back home with our Miner! The Greek salad and toasted ravioli were tasty choices to begin our meal. The chicken gyro was described as a "spot-hitter", as were the chicken fettuccine and the chicken Parmesan. My favorite 2 things to order there are the Greek pizzas and the gyros! Love the family that runs it, too! We've been here several times now and were only disappointed once. Typically we order pizza, salads, sides like fries and their battered ravioli: ALWAYS with extra extra meat sauce Once the ravioli was over cooked and that was sad. The meat sauce made it still taste great though! I love their twisted edge of crust on the pizza. It has a nice, lighter, crispy texture which I enjoy a lot. We've only ordered it with more "exotic" toppings like their greek sausage and its never disappointed. I usually ask for my pizzas a little more "well done" and it's always been perfect. We do not care for their lasagna, though. Noodles, over cooked. Not enough cheese on top or in between the layers. Not enough meat either. Way too wet. Maybe it was an off occasion but I'll never know because we didn't even eat a 1/4 of it and tossed the leftovers at home so we'd probably never try it again. We came while in town due to the good reviews. We got the hummus appetizer to start off. The pitas were served hot and the hummus is made on site. The whole family loved it. I got the House Special pizza for my meal and it was delicious! The hamburger on the pizza is chopped fine and spread across the crust covered in thick cheese. I had not had a pizza with hamburger like that before. The sauce was understated so the Greek sausage and cheese stood out. It was a different flavor but a great choice. Our server was chatty but sweet. The beers are small, like a 12oz glass but cold. Overall this place was a great meal to start off the first night of our vacation. 1 Star is too many. My pizza arrived and it was not the pizza I ordered. Absolutely, terrible. Under done and poor quality ingredients. Greek Salad is just a poorly cut head of iceberg with 2 black olives, 1 slice of tomato and a cucumber...maybe. Cheesy Bread was tasteless. $25 ill never get back. What a let down. Fairly certain the "marinara" is out of the bottle Prego. Next time ill get a Hot Pocket. I visited Alex's last week while in Rolla for work. I was very impressed. I got the special which was a large pizza for $10.99. I had hamburger and pepperoni. It was delicious. Beef was ground up very fine just like I like it. Sauce, dough, and geese was all great. This is one of the best pizzas I had in a while. The restaurant was very clean and service great. Alex's is just ok. I got their Greek salad and it was nothing more than a side salad. 2 cucumbers, 2 bell pepper rings, 2 red onion rings, iceberg lettuce. No kalamata olives. The Greek dressing was supposedly made in house, but tasted like it was straight from a Sysco container. I'd hardly call it a Greek salad at all. It's was $8.99 OUCH. My kids had a burger and gyros. Over the years this is one of the few places that has not only remained consistent but seems to get better with age. Amazing service salad and pizza. My family recently made a trip to Imos thinking that we could get the old style of Imos pizza, it was a huge letdown. Poor service and burnt pizza and cheese. Alex's pizza is a solid 10 when you need wonderful food and pizza. A++++ in my book. On a side note, the imos pizza looked and tasted worst after refrigeration (we fed to wild opossum's) the Alex's pizza somehow tasted just a good if not better reheated. :) read more

Son is attending Rolla and someone told us to go here. LOVED it the first time and have made it a point to return everytime we visit - which has been at least 4 times in a few short months. Son is vegetarian and loves the Greek pizza and cheese balls. (We all love the cheese balls. Puffs of yumminess.) Also love the gyros, fries and salad. Great portions and flavor. Pizza has nice crisp crust that supports the generous toppings and also love the flavor. So hard to try new things when we love the few things we've already had so much. The food is AMAZING. pizza, salad, spicy feta dip, cucumber feta dressing, it was all good. the atmosphere was a little off. I get the dark lighting but it was so dark inside during the day it was uncomfortable. On top of the rap music with curse words... it was pretty bad. I had my mom and 3 year old niece with me. I grew up 800 yards from Alex's'. It's always been a family staple.my husband went to UMR and adopted them as well. Tonight, our business was turned away. We showed up at 8:40 pm and they said we're closed,. If they close at 9, then you should say you close kitchen at 8:30 if you don't allow orders. In town for the weekend and wanted to checkout the local food scene. First thing we liked about this place was the friendly staff greeting us as we came in. Very college pizza bar atmosphere and that's a good thing. We get seated, drinks, and place our order. I go for a custom pie of cheese with bacon and gyro meat. I'm a gyro fan and I had to try it on a pie. The lady went for the House Special and a side of bread-sticks. The bread-sticks were standard take and bake so nothing special there but the homemade pizza dipping sauce was excellent. Honestly that sauce would go good on just about anything. Yum. I found my custom pie to be good. The cheese is their own blend and under it was that sauce I enjoyed so much. The bacon was good but I was a little let down by the amount of gyro meat that was present. Its was there but little bits and the flavor got lost. I think next time I'll just order a gyro by itself. The crust was a bit flowery for me but not bad. The lady loved hers and ended up taking half of it home because she couldn't finish it. Lots of toppings! The Good Friendly staff. Great atmosphere. We found this place on google while visiting the area and thought hey pizza sounds good will try it well that was a mistake!!! Walk in stand there waiting to be seated for over ten minutes while at least 3 employees walked by us several times and ignored we was there!! I have been here a total of 3 times. 2 out of 3 times have not been up to par. The first time they ran out a vast amount of ingredients and we waited a very long time. The second time was great...everything was very good. The third time was below average. My Greek Pizza tough and hard to cut. My husband' House Special tasted like 90% ground beef with hardly any Italian Sausage. We also found out after ordering they use canned mushrooms....did not expect this from this restaurant considering (they charge like they serve fresh mushrooms) even Papa Murphy's Take and Bake serves fresh ingredients these days. I'm sure that I've been here a half-dozen times already and the reason why I haven't written a review completely escapes me. Simply put, this place is a real find. If you find yourself in Rolla you've gotta try this place. Start with the toasted ravioli but ask for extra sauce ahead of time. It is really meaty, slightly sweet and made to be consumed en masse. Seriously, if they sold the stuff I would buy some every visit. Follow the app with a pizza - doesn't really matter which pizza becuase they're all good. Very flavorful dough, fresh ingredients, skillfully prepared. The folded edge is a signature that promotes the crust from being a carrier for the stuff to a value-add ingredient. Personally, I like the Greek pizza with the addition of gyros meat and onions. There's just something about melted feta cheese which is sublime. I think they have desserts but cannot remember anyone at the table ever having room to try one. read more

LOVE this place! The crust is phenomenal...braided like old style pizza should be. The pizza is made with a tangy/spicy sauce and a combo of cheeses that add a deeper flavor. The Greeks that run this place know how to put together incredible gyros. The Greek salad is just okay...served with bottled Italian dressing. The "Greek Pizza" is my fave...lots of feta, sliced tomato and black olives....I add green peppers. There are other menu items that are pretty good...toasted ravioli, pasta, spanakopita etc. Places like this are hard to find. The owner is on site and working the dough himself. This place has been our Saturday-lunch-after-picking-the-kids-up-at-camp place for seven years now, and we have yet to be disappointed. In fact, we were all delighted to discover that they are now open on Sundays so we can come here on drop-off days too! The kids always get the toasted ravioli. I don't think the ravioli are homemade, but they are good and the meat sauce is the star of this show anyway. You could put Alex's meat sauce on just about anything and our family would be happy to eat it - its THAT good! The grown-ups usually get a gyros pizza. Real cheese (none of that fake provel), lots of gyros meat and tomatoes, and onions for the husband's side. They have this way of rolling the crust that makes it like a breadstick is giving your pizza a hug! Ordered from here frequently because of convenience with work. Our orders were wrong about 25% of the time. The prices are kinda high relative to what you get. I've eaten pizza, wings, burgers, gyros none of it bad always consistently decent or good with the exception of the wings.... you have a 50/50 shot at getting good wings or getting the smallest tiny baby wings you have ever seen. What I'd imagine small pigeon or large sparrow wings to be like. All in all never bad but never great. This place is great for a smaller town!!! The restaurant is really spacious and is like a Chicago Bar in style, taste, and quality atmosphere. We really liked the food - we ordered the homemade lasagna which was seriously really excellent - the sauce was rather generous but tasty and well balanced in flavor. Loved the garlic bread on the side to dip into the sauce. We ordered the Alex's Favorite Pizza that came with a gooey and yummy NY-like cheese, Greek Sauce, onions, and green peppers. This was quite good! I liked the dry but for some reason tasty braided crust - ican't explain why - it was dry but I kept eating it! The service is fast and very nice. read more

The prices are not cheap compared to Papa John's, Little Ceasars, or Imos, but your getting quality when it comes to their pizzas. The exterior of the restaurant seems small but once you enter it is quite large! It can fit a good amount of people at once which is good. The interior could use work with the booth seats looking pretty bad. Service was poor and we were not notified that asking for extra sauce would cost money and it took them approximately 10 minutes until we got asked for drinks and given menus and it was a slow day. The food however was excellent, We ordered a mainly greek selection which was well prepared up to the low amount of onions and tomatoes present on the food for the price that we paid. As an appetiser the Cheese balls and bread sticks were very delicious but I felt the Cheese balls are quite pricy at 9 dollars. The meat of the Gyros Dinner was well seasoned and the pita bread had a good texture and presentation. I feel that the prices could be justified if you get more sides with the Gyros Dinner, like more greens, maybe some tomato rice and more Tzatziki. The food is 4 star worth but the service and the lack of pricing information knock off one star. I haven't tried a pizza at this locale yet but I shall do so in the near future and submit a review of it when I do. read more

Random stop in Rolla for dinner. We picked Alex's Pizza Palace because it seemed to have positive reviews and a large pizza/Greek/Italian menu. The atmosphere was cozy and chill. Server was nice and non-pretentious. We started with an order of garlic hummus and peta triangles. Our main courses took quite a bit of time, but it was a Saturday night and they were pretty busy so that's to be expected. We were happy with each of our dishes. The pizza was excellent! When I went to pay I told them that I didn't want to pay for the food I ordered but did not come and the manager was rude. He said I would not be getting any free food.
