I ordered their matcha as one does and this plastic/silicone was in my drink. you see the picture that whole thing was in my mouth. and I swallowed a piece. I was so disgusted I was dry heaving all day at work. What irritated me the most was how the employees went about the situation. I simply wanted a refund, to know what I ingested, and for the manager to talk to the servers to be more careful because this is a major hazard issue. I explained the this to Mikey the supervisor at 12pm and he said he will handle it. At 5pm when I got to alfred I asked for the supervisor and it was Marcia. I told her who I was and the situation and she looked at me w a blank face and the employee was making faces like she didnt know what was going on. this showed me that there was no urgency to figure out what happened and to prevent the situation. Honestly, I don't know what all the hype is about. We came here after all the craziness died down when they opened to try their coffees. I am a purist and wanted to try their coffee black, then move to some of their signature drinks that others have posted and raved about like the vanilla latte and pistachio latte. The coffee is good (their house roast and dark roast, way better than the big SB) but the lattes were lack luster. RE Coffee I would go for over this but it at least a better coffee choice now in Porter Ranch. Still, with their poor customer service (it took 20 minutes to get the lattes), I don't think it's worth the hassle. They really need to work on their front line staffing and turnaround. read more

My party of three came in around 3 p.m. We all wanted a very basic iced vanilla latte. We ordered and questioned why there was only one singular muffin inside their display case, which they told us that they are more full during their opening hours rather than later in the day. This confused me because if it's a coffee shop, especially in the valley, you think they would have plenty more pastry and regular food options to compete with all the other shops. Not this place though. We waited about 10 to 15 minutes for our coffee. While we were waiting, we decided to head outside because the inside was full. Outside seating, I can confidently say, is the worst seating I have ever experienced. The chairs are the saddest excuse for what a chair could be. Like if cutting corners on prices and expenses was top of mind, these are the chairs I would get, knowing it would piss off the customers. Funny enough, other people who were sitting there aside from my party, were also complaining about the chairs. Once we got our coffee, I was genuinely surprised it was good, so that was nice. Best way to summarize this place: Overpriced, poor quality, and slow. It's about $1-2 more expensive than any other coffeeshop. $1 tip is also automatically defaulted at payment, unless you manually remove it. Worst service I've ever experienced at a coffee shop. They have everyone piled up into a corner, standing on top of each other to wait for their drink. I ordered at the counter and it took a whole 20 minutes for one iced vanilla latte. The employees are pissed to be working there, they all need an attitude adjustment, and to take a class in customer service and how to talk to people. 10 minutes into my 20 minute wait I went up to an employee to ask if they had called a drink under my name, and instead of saying: nope but it'll just be a few more minutes. The employee says "did you just order it because it takes 5-10 minutes to make, we're working on a ton of other drinks." I said okay and walked away as that did not answer my question nor was that helpful. Another 10 minutes go by and when asked why it's taking so long for this one drink, they said it's because of the mobile orders and that "this is just their reality." #1 If you aren't equipped to handle mobile orders and foot traffic customers, maybe we should turn off mobile ordering for that hour or so. Mobile orders exist as a convenience for customers, however it seems like no one was being convenienced. Why are you biting off more than you can chew. #2 this isn't "just your reality" I think none of them know how to work under pressure or multitask and I know that was interview question that they all definitely lied on. If this was the Alfred on Melrose or Beverly Hills in a high traffic area I would be more understanding. But it was not. There are multiple other Alfred locations in the San Fernando Valley so it's not like the whole state of California are lining up for this one location on Rinaldi. There are also several other coffee shops in the area, two being right across the street. As for the coffee itself, I had ordered an iced vanilla latte like I mentioned before and it was pretty average. It tasted like nothing, you would've thought I bought a cup of milk over ice. I was reading through the rest of the reviews and learned that this vanilla latte is infamous/popular which is quite laughable. If you have places to be and can't spend all day twiddling your thumbs for a cup of coffee I would not come here. read more

Despite all the hype this place has on TikTok, I can say their food doesn't disappoint. If you know what to order, you'll be coming back. It's simple! The service is always very friendly and very nice, you can tell they are busy but they still make an effort to be polite. The ambiance can be a little chaotic given the small space and the large demand. However, it's well worth it. Every time I've interacted with them, they go above and beyond for me. Alfred drinks are consistently good, my go to's are either an iced matcha with maple or an iced honey latte and both are always perfect amount of sweetness and I do a 12oz, so strong in coffee or matcha flavor Love yall Porter Ranch! Who designed this store? The menu faces the opposite side from where you order so you can't see it from the register. Weird! I realize it's only been open a week but clearly they are not ready. At 9am on a Thursday morning they are out of everything and it took well over 15 minutes to get my drinks. Given that this store is in Porter Ranch where it's hot 3/4 of the year; having metal tables outside and chairs was not very well thought out. There are a few tables inside but no place to stand to wait for your drink unless of course you eat to block either the bathroom or the main walkway through the store. My drink was ok. I've enjoyed lavender lattes at other Alfreds but this one was so sickly sweet--way too much syrup! The size and furnishings of the cafe definitely do not lend themselves to lingering--not really a "comfy" vibe for hanging out. I'll go on occasion when I want something different than Peets or Starbucks (Alfred coffee is certainly a much better quality overall) but I'm in no rush to return. read more

Really sad to write this review because I went to the soft opening and drinks were amazing but going today there is definitely inconsistency in the drinks. First I mobile order my drink at 4:20 says my drink won't be ready till 4:50, my boyfriend also gets a drink he goes in around 4:45 his is ready mine not yet. He then waits inside for another 15 mins and sees a empty cup with my name on it and goes to ask when it will be ready and they say they put it to the side because somehow their coco cloud was added on the receipt which makes no sense because it wasn't even available through the app so how could I have added that to my drink? So maybe they have a glitchy system but that's something that should definitely be fixed, because my boyfriend had basically been waiting on a drink that wasn't gonna be made because their system put an ingredient on my drink that I did not add and that they were already out of, and to top it off my boyfriend gives me my simple vanilla matcha and it taste so bad basically watered down milk and it was $9! read more
