We've been going to this location for 25 years. My husband purchased very special GMC vehicle that they only made a few of it was a prototype to a Denali. He worked with Sergio for years. My husband is extremely OCD and picky and they worked well with him. We recently took this truck in for an oil change now Sergio is a director and Justin is now the Service Manager. Well, our oil change turned into a major disaster costing us a lot of money, but in the long run, Justin and Sergio went above and beyond what anyone would've expected with service suggestions help and discounts. Disappointing lack of support and accountability I am writing this review after exhausting every reasonable option and giving this dealership ample opportunity to assist. I brought my 2021 GMC Yukon to Alfred Matthews GMC for diagnosis of a serious water intrusion issue. Their technicians confirmed that one of the sunroof drain tubes was disconnected (despite no prior work ever being done to the vehicle, and a known technical service bulletin being out for this being a known issue from the factory) and that the sunroof frame itself is leaking. As a result, there is mold present under the carpet and padding -- a legitimate health and safety concern. I am a disabled veteran, and I approached this situation respectfully, asking for help through proper channels after my extended warranty and CarMax declined coverage. I was not asking for anything unreasonable -- even partial goodwill assistance would have been appreciated. What I found most troubling was not GM's refusal (corporate policies are what they are), but this dealership's refusal to even submit a goodwill request on my behalf. I was told outright that they would not pursue goodwill assistance because "it would be a no anyway." No request submitted, no advocacy, no attempt. I was also informed -- implicitly -- that because I did not purchase my vehicle through Alfred Matthews GMC, goodwill support was essentially off the table. This is unacceptable. A GMC dealership represents the GMC brand, not only vehicles sold on their lot. I have lived in San Diego for years and chose this dealership expecting brand-level support, not transactional gatekeeping. To be clear: * I did not cause this issue * I maintained the vehicle responsibly * The failure was confirmed by their own technicians * Mold was documented * I approached the situation calmly and professionally Yet I was met with indifference and a refusal to advocate for a customer -- and a veteran -- facing a costly repair stemming from a known issue. If you are looking for a dealership that will simply diagnose and bill, this may suffice. If you are looking for a dealership that will stand behind the brand, advocate for customers, and demonstrate integrity, this experience fell far short. Outstanding Service at Alfred Matthews Cadillac I recently purchased a Cadillac Vistiq from Alfred Matthews, and the level of service I received was truly above par. Once the vehicle arrived, a few issues were discovered that were not visible prior, since it came from another dealership. I brought the concerns to my salesperson, Greg, who immediately escalated everything to Ted, one of the owners. To my surprise, Ted responded instantly and took full charge of the situation. We dropped the vehicle off on Monday--the hood needed a repaint, and there were scratches on the front fender and lights. Even though none of these issues were their fault, Alfred Matthews stepped up in a way I've never seen before. They provided us with a brand-new electric loaner and had every repair completed by Thursday. The results were flawless; the car came back looking better than new. Their service is absolutely above reproach. They treat you like family, act immediately, and make sure you leave completely satisfied--and we truly are. We had a very disappointing experience with this dealership. We were in the process of purchasing a truck and had already spent time working with the staff, discussing the details, and moving forward with the purchase. We were under the clear impression that the vehicle was being held for us while we finalized everything. We had the loan approved and just needed to come in and sign the paperwork. However, without any warning or communication, the dealership sold the car to someone else. No phone call, no update--nothing. After investing our time and making plans around this purchase, it was extremely frustrating and unprofessional to find out the vehicle was simply sold out from under us. We had spent several hours there the previous day. We already completed the credit check and the bank had approved our loan through them. We were just waiting to find out when they wanted us to come in to sign the loan papers. Good customer service includes clear communication and honoring commitments, or at the very least notifying customers if something changes. Unfortunately, that did not happen here. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this dealership to others who expect transparency and reliability during the car buying process. read more

Disappointing lack of support and accountability. Purchase a used truck in Nov 25 and next day took it back for front headlight out. They replaced bulb and a few days later it went out again. I tried to get it back in and was told they don't have a certified Ram technician, and I would need to take to RAM. Also, My Insurance I purchased from them does not cover electrical. I feel they sold me this car with this defect, and they are completely washing their hands. First time getting our GMC truck serviced at the Alfred Matthews service center. Friendly staff and not too bad of a wait time with an appointment. Shuttle available but we chose to wait the 2 hours. The waiting area was decorated so cute! It's the little details for me. They offer a good variety of complimentary beverages with more options in their vending machine. Plus some charging cables on their front desk in case you need it. We came for an oil change and tire rotation and paid about $100, a fair price to not have to get down and dirty! Loved that our service advisor, Abel Cruz, spoke in Spanish with us and explained everything clearly! The techs helped us in explaining how to use a handful of features we couldn't figure to turn on. Disappointed My husband and I recently had an incredibly frustrating and disappointing experience with this dealership. We were in the process of purchasing a truck and were working closely with their sales team. As part of the financing process, they ran my credit and then told us to use our own credit union for the loan. We were under the impression that everything was moving forward smoothly. Communication from the dealership gave us no reason to think otherwise. Then, without any warning, they sold the truck we were actively pursuing out from under us. No courtesy call. No update. Nothing. We took a hard inquiry on my credit for absolutely no reason and were left without the vehicle we had invested our time, energy, and trust into securing. This experience was incredibly unprofessional and felt deceptive. Picked up the car on the 3rd visit with fingerprints all over the windshield from the work completed. Thought the attention to detail was lacking for having purchased a luxury vehicle. Also was provided a loaner vehicle once out of the 3 visits. 2nd - alignment. Car was pulling right, went to Les Schwab and tires rotated, balanced and was told the alignment did not require adjustment. Brought it to the dealership for further inspection since it's under warranty and was told it was the alignment (cheapest fix) .. alignment was adjusted and what a shocker - car still pulled right. 3rd - called to order a tow hitch receiver, was quoted a price and told the part could arrive the next day. I asked to make an appointment to have the work done and scheduled my appt one week out. Dropped the car off for the appt and was called an hour later - the part was never ordered and now it's on back order. read more

I 100% trust my car here and all the employees are very friendly. The other day I had a service appointment and when I picked my car I decided to take a peak at the new 2021 models. Do not ever purchase the the appearance plus package from this dealer it's a waste of your money. I purchased it in 2023 on my brand new vehicle and automatically got swirling and spiderwebs, dealer attempted to make it right but just put another coat on top so all it did is highlight the swirling and spiderwebs. I have been going to this dealership for a really long time and have purchased several vehicles from them. I took my truck for an oil change and was told that it would also be washed. After 2 hrs that I waited the employee came out and tells me truck is ready. I went outside to see it and it was dirty and he said he forgot t o wash it. Then said give me 25 minutes I'll wash it for y ou. 5 minutes later he came out and replied that it was ready. I then go outside to see it and the truck was the same just with a few water drops on it. I asked if it was washed he said yes. I ran my fingers through the truck and it was dirty . He said he used a brush through it. They kept lying to me that it was washed when it wasn't. Manager came out and agreed that it was washed even looking at the dirt . I ran my fingers th through and showed him the dirt. Bad place to take your business.after them taking your money they lie to you. They did not admit they were wrong . We were in the market to purchase a used Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel and located this truck at Alfred Matthews GMC Cadillac in Modesto. My husband made contact with Harry in Sales who was GREAT. There was absolutely NO PRESSURE and complete transparency about the truck. The service department had done a great job detailing and touching up the truck for resale. Everyone we dealt with at the dealership was super. After we got home, we realized we only had one license plate. We called the dealership back and they immediately took care of the issue (called DMV) and new plates are on the way. The salesmen we've been in contact with changed the requirements last minute, then suddenly said we couldn't have the trucks and tried to refund our deposit while we waited on paperwork from them. While we tried to get in contact with his boss, it became impossible to reach someone. Finally, today my company's owner got ahold of the dealership's owner, Ted. Instead of listening to him, Ted cut him off numerous times and eventually hung up on him. We've purchased almost 20 trucks from California dealerships this year, with little issue. Wow! I've been trying to fix my car for two years. Sergio finally found the mechanic that could fix it. Who ever that guy was that's the one you want to take your car to. After taking my car to my Machanic, the cadillac dealer in Stockton, and Alfredo Matthew also previously, they finally figured it out. The computer that I bought two years ago had to be replaced under warranty, thanks to Sergio, and there was also some faulty wiring. When previously everyone else told me to get a new car, Sergio, who was aware of the problems and the age of my 2006 SRX, finally said we'll find the problem. Finally, all the lights are gone and the gauges are working. After thousands of dollars of different fixes, the car is finally working perfectly. By the way I bought my car there in 2006. Went in to look at trucks today. They didn't have exactly what I was looking for but saw something that could work. It was a demo that had stickers on it saying 11k off as it was a demo. Talked to Greg who was a nice guy and we took it for a drive. I ended up wanting to know what total cost out the door would be. He went to go check on something and came back with the "Sales Manager" who informed me the truck would only be 5k off but he would be nice for the error and make it 6k. Allen never said he was the manager, but he implied that he was the manager. He said he sets all the used car prices etc. Bragged about his Realestate holdings and was proud of his being from the Fremont or Newark area. After accepting her offer he started the process so she sent my wife home with her kids and she and I stayed to do the paperwork. It was Sunday evening at 6:30ish pm. Then Allen had to leave to be in Manteca by 7:00 and a new guy took over. 45 minutes later.....You guessed it, like the 1980's scam car sales tactic. The price changed. Then the new guy said he had no idea and could not sell for that price. And when my daughter disagreed about 2 minutes later here comes Allen! He never left. Then Allen went to check on a resolution. It just got worse and became evident that Allen is a fraud. So we Uber home to Tracy for $45 frustrated and disappointed. IT WAS SLEAZY and uncomfortable to say the least. I came for an oil change and tire rotation. I was so happy that they could get me in same day. The business is taking reasonable COVID 19 precautions. I would not generally leave a review but was so taken aback by the service staffs behavior. At one point a gentleman walked out from the small reception area across from the shop yelling, "what the F???"! I know that generally the consumer isn't around so maybe things are getting lax but I think Management needs to encourage staff to be a little more professional. I would say the young man bringing cars out to customer was very courteous. My car returned for some scheduled warranty work. The staff was more than accommodating to ensure that I was able to pick up my car easily. I was very satisfied with the service and everybody was very friendly. Brought my vehicle for an alignment. After picking up my truck I was told "it was all good." No before and after results from the alignment. Upon leaving the truck still pulled left. Returned and had to make an appointment to recheck. On the appointment date the same results. I took the vehicle to an independent shop that found the vehicle was not within specs and did the alignment then presented before and after paperwork. Cost $159. I live in a state where we don't pay sales tax and they would not allow this. Also when I said I would cover the sales tax they said they wouldn't except my card. When I came in for my service I was not expecting my vehicle needing to be there all day. They had a loaner vehicle for me. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I took our older GMC savana that we just bought to get the a/c fixed they ran into issues but kept working on it until they found the problem the original estimate included an a/c compressor and I already assumed it needed one but the problem was an electrical plug. They could have easily put on a compressor and charged me but it didn't need it very honest shop. And I really didn't see a huge price increase because their a dealer! This place is a joke. Purchased my vehicle here and I have had horrible service from the service department. My vehicle was brought in less than a year ago for several issues. They claimed they "fixed" them. Although they documented in their system that they could not duplicate the issue I was having with my passenger side window. Here I am LESS than a year later and I'm still having the same issues that are even worse then they were before!! Unfortunately my extended warranty expired right after they claimed they "repaired" my truck. So I call them to see if they will take a look at my vehicle and fix the issues they claimed they already repaired and they have the nerve to tell me im responsible for any payments! What a freaking joke this place is. The service manager is absolutely unprofessional and has no customer service skills what so ever. I've been in customer service as a manager for over 10 years and this is not how you treat someone. They claim there is a guarantee on their service for a year with unlimited miles, however what they fail to tell you is that you're still responsible for paying them money out of your pocket for a diagnosis of the same damn issue. I'll never come back to this place. It's a joke. Just lost a customer and wont ever purchase a vehicle from here again. I would rather drive to Sacramento and find a dealership that knows how to take care of their customers. I guess all they are "guaranteeing" you is guaranteed shitty service.
