I am always searching for Mediterranean food! I came across Ali Baba and added it to my list of places. As luck would have it we stumbled upon it when we were at the Spartanburg Spring Festival. The place was very busy and Sarah the young girl at the counter remained calm, cool and didn't get frazzled. Even when i witnessed a couple of customers make rude comments! The food was SO GOOD! I've been craving that Greek Salad since I had it! Highly recommend this cool little place in downtown Spartanburg. read more

What a cute little place in downtown Spartanburg. Julianna created us with a delightful smile and welcome. We shared a salad and some pita. It was really wonderful. Amazing little place!!! The most amazing Kaitlyn - cinematography student at USC Columbia was my host and so beautiful and attending to everyone's requests... that lady described every dish to perfection! Marie's energy and hospitality was amazing. I had the falafel salad and the lamb rice bowl. I had all the side sauces as well. Everything is made in house, Even the lamb gyro meat! Hubby and I enjoyed a lovely late lunch yesterday at Ali Baba. This was our first visit and we were not disappointed! The vibe inside is fun and eclectic! The food was fresh, colorful and full of flavor! We enjoyed nice pints of Wicked Weed's Fest Bier which was a perfect accompaniment. The staff and owner made us feel right at home and comfortable! We actually just purchased an appetizer from this spot while we were grabbing lunch from a nearby sandwich shop. Food was great! Hummus was delicious, falafel is good. Can't speak much to the service or the ambiance but I'd say this spot has 4.5 stars for a reason. read more

We ordered the Gyro chicken and lamb platter and the hummus platter. Both were incredible!!! Loved all the sauces, seasonings, olives, and extras. Pickled onions were delicious! We visited Ali Baba today for the first time and are very impressed. Not only has it a great atmosphere but also awesome service and fantastic food. My wife and I had the gyro platter with lamb which was very delicious and my children had a gyro wrap also very delicious. The whole restaurant gives you an oriental feeling. The only thing I would change is the choice of music. I'd love to have some oriental music to it and a little more meat to the gyro platter. I'd give it an 8.5 out of 10. read more

Looking for a place to have lunch in downtown Spartanburg we saw Ali Baba had a sign saying that they had falafel and I love it! I had the hummus and falafel plate and my husband had a gyro. We were both very happy with the food! My plate was so generous that I also was able to have it for dinner also. The hummus was absolutely delicious! read more

Nothing authentic, nothing freshly cooked! Everything the serve comes in a box or jar (from restaurant depot). I fill sorry for people who through food is great, they probably never traveled passed county lines. On the bright side, service was great. read more

I was happily surprised by eating here the other day with my wife. It's a small location that looks a lot like a fast food place however after ordering the platter I noticed how well presented it was. It looked very appetizing. First time having Mediterranean. I ordered the Falafel side which comes with 3 and the chicken gyro. Both of which had outstanding flavor. Seating inside, but more seating outside. Seem to have a good selection of beers with 3-4 choices on tap. Reasonable size of gyro and amount of food for the price. They have a new menu item the falafel pizza and when it was going to another table it looked great. Didn't get a chance to take a picture of the menu but it's located on their clover site. Service was amazing as we entered. They explained everything wand was so friendly without prompting. We got falafel salad! Omg, the best salad with variety of olives, chick peas and a great seasoning over the top. Greek dressing was great. Best thing there was the pita and zatar. The pita is the best anywhere. Gyros are great! Plenty of tzatziki sauce and great fresh veg. They really seem to want to do things right. Can't wait to go back and try other items! read more

Yum!!!!' I've been waiting so long to drive this place. It seems like every time I'm in town. It's a Wednesday. Finally got here on a Thursday and had an amazing dinner. The chicken was dry and is not authentic middle eastern food. I am 100% middle eastern so I know best. My parents didn't like it either. $17 for 6oz of burnt chicken and 1000 toppings. Great if you hate flavor! read more

The team at this restaurant is only upstaged by it's delicious meets traditional meets creative food POV. Oft times vegan options mean a mundane salad or a questionable entree that may or may not have been cross contaminated in the kitchen but no such issues at Ali Baba's. Chef Eric, Kaylee, Rosalind, whose also one of Spartanburg's youngest sous chefs at 15 and the original chef whose name escapes me-we're thoughtful about the diversity of their vegan offerings and knew exactly what was in everything. Local,fresh, and family owned, what more can I say? This place is amazing! It is for sure a fan favorite for me! It's so good! I tell everyone walking by how good my food is when I eat here. Lol I am an extremely picky eater when it comes to taste. If I can make it better at home I don't waste my money. This place however, I just can't. I've had the gyro, hummus, and the platter. After seeing a lot of raving reviews for Ali Baba, I decided to give it a try. The first time I tried to go, I was disappointed to see that they close early on Wednesdays! Alas, I was finally able to try them on a Thursday and I am so glad I did. We got the hummus platter (14.99) and a smoked pork gyro (10.99). The hummus platter presentation was what enticed me first, but after the first hummus dip, I was hooked! The smoked pork gyro was amazing as well. We opted to get the lime vinaigrette dressing with it instead of the teriyaki sauce, but I'm sure the teriyaki would've been great as well. The platter came with an assortment of veggies (carrots, bell peppers, cucumber slices, olives) and pita bread. Best pita bread I've tasted! Service was prompt and patient. Annick, our server, was great! The eating space is pretty limited indoors, but it looks like they had ample amount of outdoor seating and other games to play out there too. Overall, food was outstanding and I will definitely be back for more! read more

Why does anyone like this place? We have gone a few times and the food is below basic, bland and not worth it. The hummus tastes like it's from a deli case, the foods too dry, undercooked or overcooked. It's terrible and the people who say it's so good don't know or understand good food. The decor has to be from dollar tree, it's a eye sore and not worth it. If it was free I'd say no, if they paid me I'd say no! The service was basic and rushed us every time. Save your money, don't go. read more

After eating gyros at the Greek Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs Florida for over 20 years, Ali Baba's has the best gyros my wife and I have ever tasted The hummus and their pistachio baklava were also out of this world. We can't wait to return and try some of their other menu items. read more

I have stopped inside, it does have a legit vibe for what they offer. I've had the pizza, the calzone, the lasagna and it is consistently great. The pizzas are big and the toppings generous. I went for a birthday meal and we enjoyed the experience all around. The food is fresh and flavorful with real Mediterranean influence you can tell the recipes are rooted in tradition and made with care. The menu has a great variety of Turkish, Greek, and Italian influenced dishes, from kebabs and mezze to hearty entrees, and everything we tried was seasoned well and beautifully presented. Service was lovely from start to finish. The staff was welcoming and attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere feels comfortable and a bit elevated at the same time. It's a cozy place that works for a casual lunch, date night, or business dinner. One of the best parts of dining here is that Gastonia gets Mediterranean cuisine done well without having to go into Charlotte. Portions are generous and worth the price, and the wine and drink options pair nicely with the menu. Reservations are a good idea on weekend nights because it does get busy. I'd definitely return to try even more from the menu.
