Last evening, my husband and I along with two friends, had dinner at Italian Garden -- Greek & Italian -- Restaurant! Our friends had eaten there before; for us, it was our first time, but we definitely plan to return! In wanting to see if they could accommodate a little birthday surprise, I called ahead and spoke to Michelle. She was extremely polite and attentive to my detailed plans, stating the restaurant would give a slice of cake to our friend. Although her shift was soon ending; she took explicit notes for the oncoming shift. I called later to make sure everything was in place; Michelle was a woman of her word, so the planned surprise was a go! Italian Garden is a quaint restaurant with super-friendly staff. We were blessed to have Nada as our server! Their menu selections are extensive, with something for everyone's tastes! With a beautiful smile and pleasant personality, Nada took our orders. Our food arrived in a timely fashion, and we were all pleased with our choices! Their portions are plentiful as three out of the four of us brought food home. After we had finished our delicious meal, I was ecstatic to see not one but the entire staff walking toward our table with the cake, singing "Happy Birthday"! What a beautiful way to conclude our dining experience! In many ways during our leisurely time there, Italian Garden Restaurant exceeded our expectations! Went back to IG for lunch to give them another try. To my surprise, they increased their lunch special menu to $12. Quite a big jump from $8.99 to $9.99 a year ago. But I have to say, the service and food was good. They got rid of the thick-cut fries and now offer seasoned fries. (Unseasoned fries are also available.) Overall, no complaints except for the change of their lunch special price which was to my surprise. read more

This food was horrible. We ordered a falafel wrap, dolmas and chocolate cake. The falafel was the worst I have ever had. No formed patties, just mush. Super dry. No flavor and no tahini. The dolmas were ok. Need lemon badly. The canned dolmas are actually better. The chocolate cake was an absolute joke. Half of it looks like it's missing. They shouldn't sell it if they don't have it. This is literally 1/2 of a slice. We really wish we could find good, authentic Mediterranean food. This place is NOT it. read more

David gave us impeccable, friendly and courteous service. Mohammed continued to prepare AWESOME food. I have lived all over the country and dined on lasagna EVERYwhere, and I can honestly say the lasagna at Italian Garden is the best. THE BEST. I am an excellent cook and I can't make lasagna THIS GOOD!!! Every time I order it, I think, "TODAY I will eat only half and take half home." But my friends, I just can't do it. It is quite simply beyond delicious. And apparently the great people in the state is South Carolina agree, bestowing them with an award proclaiming they are one of THE VERY BEST ITALIAN RESTAURANTS IN THE STATE. Opening an office in Greenville and I'm excited about all of the new dining opportunities. To date, this place is my number one go to. The food was amazing, but our server Victoria was the cherry on the top. When we were seated, there was a couple watching videos at the both behind us. Very loud, so rude. When Victoria approached our table to take our drink order, I told her that we were leaving because of rude couple behind us. She offered us a table in the back away from the noise and we were seated there. She then began to wow us with her bubbly personality and her vast knowledge of the menu. I'm 1/2 Italian and from New Jersey, so I'm not easy to please when it comes to Italian food. With that being said, I had a really good experience at Italian Garden. We popped in on a whim to try it out for a date night, and it is a place we will likely hit up again. The ambiance is pretty basic, but the service was top notch and the food was really good. We decided to try a bit of Greek and a bit of Italian (since they offer both), so hubs ordered lasagna and I ordered Moussaka. My greek salad that came with it was good and had home made Greek dressing on it, although it would have been better with feta cheese. The Moussaka was interesting and pretty tasty, although I don't know that I would order it again. The lasagna was a 5/5 - served piping hot with fresh made garlic bread. For Italian food, I would say the prices were very good - about $10 each. I'd say - give it a try! read more

Dinner last night, party of 5! Appetizers, calamari, combo, mushrooms, cheese sticks, more calamari, and hummus, feta, small Greek salad and grape leaves pita bread. Calamari average, feta cheese was shredded making it difficult to handle. Hummus was very good. What was supposed to be served hot, was. House salads, lettuce, olives tomato and cucumber. Dinner, lets see, Lasagna Excellent, Chicken Parmasean I was expecting a chicken breast, but it was tender chunks with sauce & spaghetti, Eggplant Parmasean, I thought it was great, but it made my daughter sick. I think it was too Rick for her. 2 gyro platters, they ate every bite! Chunks of gyro meat, good flavor. Again. I like my food served hot, and it came out steaming!!! Dessert, oh yeah, we weren't done yet. Cheesecake, creamy. Taramasu, melts in your mouth, cannolli, we just didn't care for. We were allowed to bring in a bottle of wine. I'm 70 years old of Italian heritage raised in the NY City area so I think I know a little about Chicken Parm and what I had last night was NOT it. First of all they served in the cooking dish - a personal turn off for me, but some people prefer it. Getting past that, the chicken was pre-cut like I'm 4 years old - another turn off. Getting past that, the chicken tasted like it was boiled not fried and then dusted with some batter. It had the consistency of French toast. Just awful and couldn't get past 2 bites. Service was ok by the mumbling teenager who forgot the salad at first, never brought the parmesan shaker and had to request the bread. Final nail? The napkins (not line - god forbid) but are the size of cocktail napkins. 3 inch square napkins for Italian food? Fuhgetaboutit. read more

I can't believe I have not eaten here before! We got a large house special pizza and guess what? We got a free small cheese pizza and that's their policy, NO coupon needed. It's a great deal! The pizza was incredible. It tasted very fresh and had lots of toppings. I'm not sure i have ever had a pizza this good. They also have a buy one get one half off on some of their dinner menu entrees and they have lunch specials. So try this place you get excellent food at a good price. Tried this location with a friend for my first time and never payed any attention to this location when I was workin. I now hate myself for passing this location up all the years I was working the Taylors area. The food was unbelievable and service was so professional. I had a pool party the next day and the food came from this location and it became a super hit with everyone. Now all my friends want to go there for lunch and dinner. First time at this restaurant. It's was crowded and hard to find a place to park. No wonder, seating was at full capacity after church on Sunday. The lunch menu was $10.99 which included tea and salad. That's a great value. Actually all the food we ordered came with huge portions and great taste as well. Not to mention a basket of buttered bread. Service was really good and helpful. We see why people like this place. I don't see how you can beat the value and service. What a delightful surprise! The folks at my wife's office went here for lunch a few days ago and they were all delighted with the quality of the food and the great customer service. So, as a result, we decided to go here for dinner with some friends and we were blown away! The place may not look like anything fancy from the outside but it is a dining treasure. Each of our dinners was fantastic. The workers were delightful people. Even the other patrons were like a big happy family. I don't understand all the positive reviews for this place. Food was mediocre at best. Nothing tasted homemade and everything was extremely bland. We had the fried ravioli, a "Greek salad", Chicken souvlaki platter, and a house pizza. The ravioli tasted like it had been frozen. The salad consisted of shredded iceberg lettuce some tomatoes, one olive, "feta" cheese that was shredded and tasted like soured mozzarella, and very watered down Greek dressing. The chicken was bright orange, but had a decent but mild flavor. The Greek potatoes were obviously originally a baked potato that they sliced and added some colorful but very bland spices to. Even the pizza had very little flavor. When the waitress asked what was wrong with the food (since we didn't eat half of it and didn't want to-go boxes) we politely explained but didn't ask for anything. Then suddenly the chef (maybe manager?) came out to argue with us. He didn't apologize or offer to re-make anything, but was very defensive and just kept saying that his food had plenty of seasoning! It seemed like it wasn't a new complaint for him. On top of everything, I felt sick to my stomach for the rest of the night . We will not be going back. read more
