Liked the food and staff here until recently. Family went there and was attacked by a drunk couple from this bar for asking them not to smoke over our car. Owner didn't do anything other than to ask my family to leave because the couple was his friends. If this is the type of people that come here and are friends with the owner, I have no intention of going back. read more

I've been coming to this restaurant for yrs. It's a relaxed atmosphere with great food, specials, and service. on 12/18/2019 a group of friends gathered for a holiday dinner. An annual tradition. The servers are pleasant efficient and bubbly. We were in a room with a fireplace, we had Steak, Lobster, one of the many specials. We were chatting and some of us never met the owners Sue and Greg. Last night we spoke of how this dinner was an out of the park home run. We mentioned we always left a well-deserved tip. But while money is a nice thank you sometimes when people really push the boundaries with a smile some needed accolades are also apropos and I find people are more apt to pitch a bitch when service and food aren't satisfactory and at times that is certainly warranted as the case might be. However, this Resturant is indeed a hidden jewel. Last night the specials were perfectly cooked the Butterscotch Cream Burlee rocked my palate as did my lobster and filet. I always enjoyed going here. We have lots of parties there and celebrations. We had an 80th birthday party planned for my mother and had to cancel due to Covid-19. I started getting worried because people told me they were having issues with getting refunds from other places. Not here they were so accommodating. They gave me a refund immediately and were so nice about it. We will definitely be going back to eat as soon as we can. FYI the brunch on Sunday is the best! read more

Went for the first time last night with my husband for our wedding anniversary. It was such a great experience! The staff is very friendly and the food was delicious!! Big portion sizes and everything was cooked perfectly. Our server, Dan, was awesome too, very engaged with our table without being overbearing. Definitely recommend! We will be back. read more

We enjoyed a great dinner for 25 last night at Alias. The service was excellent, and all the entree choices were delicious. The Chicken Valdestano was superb and was also a huge portion. And the Chateau Briand was raved about. All the accompanying side dishes were delicious as well. They also have private party rooms so that your event is separated from the main dining area. I met a few old friends for dinner on a Wednesday night. I had never been to this restaurant but one of my friends spoke very highly of their food. It was a little difficult to see the restaurant from the street but my friend had warned me so I found it based on her description. There's a public lot across the street so parking was easy. The inside of the restaurant is pretty roomy and there are several party rooms too. I ordered the crab cakes which were really delicious. All our meals came with soup or salad and garlic bread was brought to the table. Yummy! Everyone loved their food and we were too full for dessert. I'm pretty sure we will be back! read more

Dinner has been a disaster. Mediocre most times, and the last time we went -- which will probably BE the "last time" -- five of us on a mid-week evening -- the young Jersey Shore wannabe waiter, er, forgot to put my order in. I always forget how good the food is here. An original pub with homemade quality food. Today I was here for lunch. I ordered the French dip sandwich which came with fresh cut French fries. You can order the meat any way you like, most places the French dip sandwich is well done, not here, medium thin sliced beef with melted mozzarella on a soft toasted garlic bread was melt in your mouth goodness. The waitress hustled her way thru a busy Thursday lunch crowd. I really enjoy pub style dining. Alias Smith and Jones offer up some great hearty meals and specials. Bonus is they are reasonable priced. Give this old style traditional restaurant a try if you never been. read more

Again, a place I've been to TONS of times, and yet never had a bad meal. They have this herbed bread they have in the bread basket, and the sliced garlic bread. I also love that in addition to bread, every table gets veggies like broccoli & carrots with Russian dressing for dipping. In addition... I love the Bourbon Chicken Grill which is amazing. The Guinness battered shrimp were amazing too, but I think they're a special that isn't always around. The chicken tidbits can't touch the tid bits at J. Pauls... but still, they're good. My boyfriend gets the salmon & every time he says it's the best. Salads are always fresh & the soda is always bubbly. What more can you ask for? The waitresses are all nice, attentive & helpful. The clientele are mostly "usuals", especially at the bar, which gives it a homier atmosphere. It's like Cheers in that respect I guess. Every time I'm eating there, people come in and they know every waitress & bartender and the staff knows them. Parking can be tricky, though. It's either the street, or... the street. read more

ALIAS SMITH & JONES I want to thank this group and whoever posted about Alias Smith & Jones in Oceanside. They had mentioned that among the many fine dishes they tried one of them was the roast pork and mozzarella on garlic bread with duck sauce. I had asked if it was as good as what the old Lawson's pub ( 30-40 years ago) used to serve as my wife and I ate there religiously for years and that was our favorite dish. Long story short we tried it last night it was amazing and tasted just like the sandwiches we used to get at Lawson's pub. We commented how pleased we were to the waiter Danny who was outstanding by the way and very attentive and the next thing we knew the owner's wife Sue stopped by the table to introduce herself and tell us how pleased she was that we enjoyed our meal. She also laughed and explained that her husband used to work at Lawson's pub when he was a teenager and that the sandwich is the same one they used to serve. Needless to say we will be back again and again and again to get more roast pork and try other great dishes you recommended like their baked French onion soup and steak tidbits with barbecue sauce. They also had a very extensive menu. Great pub and restaurant and never knew it was here. This place is great!! Everything we had was just delicious. They bring out garlic bread and a platter of vegetables to much on while you wait for your meal. The bread was just fair. We also ordered salad. The miso dressing was great. I ordered the garlic crusted salmon and it was delicious!! The salmon itself was a HUGE portion. The salmon came with garlic spinach and I ordered a side of vegetables. I was a bit disappointed that the vegetables were drenched in oil. We also attempted to order chocolate covered strawberries as it was on the dessert menu. I was disappointed to find out that the particular night we were there they didn't have any. Second time dining here and I must say, the food and service have been incredible both visits. Our food was perfectly prepared and you can tell it is made with care. Local place needs upgrading. Stopped for dinner at 7:25 and they were already sold out of special. Burger was ok, but mixed fries and onion rings while tasty were way too few, literally two onion rings. Wings were ordered crispy, they were mush and unedible. We had a special surprise birthday party at Alias Smith and Jones last weekend and it couldn't have gone any better thanks to Sue and Gene and the staff there. We had a sit-down dinner for 30 people and they were so accommodating and interested in our party. The food was excellent and the service was very personal and friendly. I knew of this restaurant because many years ago my former husband and I used to frequent it for dinner and we really enjoyed their food. When my friends decided to try it for brunch today I was curious to see if Alias had withstood the test of time and if their brunch menu was as good as I remember their dinner menu to be. Well, it still is, hands down, a winner. We were a group of seven women and I think every one of us was delighted by the service, the food and the old-time ambiance of the place. Our waitress, Rose, was so very instrumental in making our visit so enjoyable.When we arrived, she had our table set up and ready for us. When we saw the menus we realized we were in for a treat. Rose brought out a basket filled with bagels, Irish soda bread, and crumb cake along with butter and cream cheese. We each got a small bowl of fresh cut fruit and coffee or tea, and Rose took our orders for the complimentary drink that comes with the $16.95 brunch. There was enough "extras" on the table that we didn't even need to order entrees! But of course we did, and what a large selection of offerings there was. I ordered the French Toast stuffed with cheese and ham and I loved it. (My only suggestion is to please keep some sugar-free maple syrup on hand.) There was a variety of other entrees that my friends ordered, and everyone enjoyed their meal. Rose kept our coffee cups full and was friendly without being obtrusive. Been coming here for years. Pretty sure this place has been around since my parents were first dating. The bar area is something of a classier style with showing the age and durability of a classic fashion. The bartenders are all quite good at what they do. I highly recommend a Manhattan made with Maker's Mark. In regards to their menu there are numerous choices in my opinion. I love their blackened Cajun sea Scallops, but their specialty is more to do with their meats. I have had their pot roast, their turkey dinner, and their chicken stuffed with cheese and Italian prosciutto. Their vegetables compliment any meal, though their mashed potatoes are a man's best friend. There is always a good place to sit in this restaurant and the waitresses all know the menu like the back of the hand. Great service, always a good place to go to. read more

I loved this place. I sat at the bar with my wife and the bartender was courteous and professional. Dinner came with crudités and a basket of garlic break which was unexpectedly buttery and delicious; worth it for those who are calorie conscience. My wife had pasta and a salad which she finished which is rare for her (to finish). I had a steak sandwich special and a crock of French onion soup which did not disappoint.
