Tried Alien Döner in Lake Forest and unfortunately it missed the mark for me. Stumbled upon this place as it replaced our go-to Afghan place. The food itself tasted good -- the flavors were solid, the chicken in the wrap had great seasoning, and the Iskender sauce was rich and tasty. But the portion sizes were surprisingly small for the price. I ordered the chicken döner wrap for $15.99, and it came with just one thin layer of chicken and was mostly filled with veggies. For that price, I expected something more substantial. The Iskender bowl was $22.99 and the portion was even smaller than a DonerG bowl. There were only eight tiny pieces of bread underneath, and the meat was sliced in large, chunky pieces that were a bit awkward to eat without cutting. On top of that, the service was disappointing. The staff didn't greet us when we walked in, and there was no acknowledgment or thank-you when we left. For the premium prices they're charging, I expected a warmer and more welcoming experience. The staff mentioned they are currently in a soft opening phase and will be doing their grand opening in about a month. While there are still a few details they're working on, what stood out to me the most was the food itself. This is easily the most authentic Turkish döner I've had in the United States. I provided some feedback regarding their bread, and they took it seriously. They also shared that they plan to open a larger second location in Costa Mesa early next year, where they intend to start baking their own bread. Hatay-Style Wet Chicken Döner I wasn't expecting it to be this good, but their Hatay-style wet chicken döner wrap really surprised me. The chicken was super tender and had that rich Hatay seasoning that hits you with flavor in every bite. The sauce, the chicken everything came together really well. nothing overpowering, just a really balanced and delicious wrap. My only suggestion is the bread needs to be improved. It is not turkish style lavash but it still in balance. It honestly reminded me of something you'd get back home. Honestly I thought this was another kebab place in Lake forest, but it turns out I've never been to a doner concept like this. I think it's the 1st of its kinda around here. Ordered the beef döner plate which was juicy big portion of meat that came with crispy fries. The meat was well seasoned and thinly sliced. Although the portion was big I ordered another one to share with wife. This is the 1st time I felt like tasting a real tender doner with smoky flavor. It came pretty quick too we were surprised. I've been here a few times and their doner is always super flavorful and juicy. That's why I drove 30 minutes just for it. Unfortunately, it was sold out last night. They said they make everything fresh daily, items run out during busy hours and they don't sell leftovers the next day which I actually appreciate.
