Alien Taco is a super cute place on Gate Parkway! The theme/decor is quite unique and and the menu is too! It's not your traditional Tex Mex taco joint. It has great service and it appears to be well staffed. Our server Miguel was very attentive and helpful in making food and drink selections. I tried the Cheeseburger Taco and the Earthling Taco, which both had hefty portions of ground beef. A friend tried out the Galactic Nachos which had a generous amount of beef, beans, tomatoes, red onions, jalapeños and cheese. On a previous visit, I tried the Sweet & Spicy Shrimp that came with a cilantro-lime dipping sauce. Nothing spectacular about the shrimp but it was good nonetheless. I see a lot of reviews commenting on the price but if you look at the actual tacos you get and the amount of protein in it, the protein serving is larger than a typical taco place! You also have a choice of two sides, one of which are some tasty sweet plantains. The other sides offered with the tacos are fries, loaded fries, street corn, or black beans & rice so it is quite filling. I ended up taking the sides home with me to eat alongside something else. We found Alien Taco through a local search for lunch while at the Town Center. It was close by, had great drink options and plenty of flavorful taco combinations, as well as birria, and ... Birria Ramen?! We were intrigued and had to try it. Upon walking up I loved the window displays of aliens enjoying the restaurant, the decor also uses lots of alien imagery and play with the theme in their menu drink names. Want a lot of beer? Order a "Take me to your Liter"! So kitsch, I loved the playful menu item names. I ordered the guava house margarita with Tajin rim and my husband got the margarita sampler flight. We were both pleased. Pours were strong and the flavor was well balanced - not over sugary like many other places I've had a flavored margarita. For our meals, hubby got the Spicy Birria Tacos and I order the two taco plate - blackened maji taco and the Mexico City cheesesteak taco. My plate came with two sides, I chose sweet fried plantains and street corn (off the cob in a bowl). They offered chips and salsa while they made the meal and the chips were chef's kiss fresh and not oily, sporting a generous dusting of flaked salt. The Birria tacos were melt in your mouth savory and provided with consumé to dip in, will order again! My tacos were full of flavor, came garnished with their own sauces and a really great balance of flavors and textures. Whoever made this menu really loves flavor and food that isn't basic, or boring. So disappointing. The atmosphere is pretty cool, even for those of us who aren't into aliens, but the service was terrible and the food was subpar. It looked absolutely delicious when it was served, but neither of us were happy with the taste. Aside from the chewy taco salad bowl, I can't really describe why it wasn't good other than it just didn't hit. Speaking of not hitting, our server barely checked on us. I had to go to the bar to tell her that we needed refills and that the taco salad was missing the chicken. Alien Taco is one of those places that's less about the food and more about the experience. I came here for a girls' night. Our waiter deserves all the shoutouts, he not only kept the drinks flowing but even brought us shots and took one with us. That kind of energy instantly turned the night into a party. Stopped into Alien taco for the first time and I was impressed! I would categorize the price as maybe mid-tier expensive but I think the meal was worth it. I got the 2 taco meal and my friend got the 3 taco meal. Our meals came with 2 sides and plantains which was the perfect size for lunch. We each ordered different tacos so after I got to taste 5 different tacos, I can say with certainty that they have a fresh and delicious selection. Each one was very different and very delicious. Service was friendly and we were seated immediately with waters swiftly brought to the table. We had a couple questions about the menu and our waiter was good at providing helpful information. The inside of this place is so the vibe. Aside from the fun party you can have in the bathroom...which seems like a weird comment but...you just have to go in order to get what I'm talking about lol - the inside of the restaurant is fun, kooky, and colorful. The old JJ's Bistro converted into a taco joint. I like it. The place was hopping and by the end of our night it was packed. Our server was fantastic, made great recommendations, and had fun with us. Her friend and I split the Blistered Empanadas (Choose from Seasoned Beef or Chipotle Chicken (both with cheese). Braised with Peppers and Onions. Paired with Ranchero Dunking Sauce and Avocado ranch). There were 3 so we each had 1.5 and we chose the chicken option. These were pretty tasty but I prefer more cheesiness in mine and olives, okay maybe I'm partial to my man's empanadas. My entree was the Lunar Lamb Quesabirria (Tender Lamb Roast, Caramelized Onions, Roasted Garlic, Shredded Cheese, Cilantro and Avocado Crema. Served with a Consomme From the Spicy Beef Birria). These were not greasy or gamey as you'd think they would be. I think I would have liked to try the quesabirria with lamb consomme instead of beef but maybe beef is familiar and lamb would be too strong for some. The onions and cilantro along with the crema was copious and kept the tacos moist and flavorful. I also had two margaritas. Even though it was Friday and I was going to get the $5.55 Margaritas but I was talked into getting the Jalapeño Meteorite Margarita (Blanco Tequila, Orange Liqueur, Agave Nectar, Citrus Juice Mix. and later I got the Prickly Pear one. These were huge and very tasty. Our table was next to the area were they have live music and unfortunately a speaker was placed right near our table. While the music was good it was loud and we did have to raise our voices to be heard. We moved outside so we could talk and ended up getting some more shots. We went to play music bingo and holy moly it was crowded. If you ever decide to go for this, get there early. We were there about an hour before hand and told there were no tables available, so we sat at the bar. One neat thing they had was a stock market type thing for happy hour pricing, based on demand. One bummer thing was that after happy hour a Corona was basically $7. The food is also quite pricey for fairly mediocre food. I had chicken earthling taco. The chicken was pretty plain, and the shells tasted like grease. Beans and rice and plantains were better, but none of that was worth the price. The service was ok. Visited during Beyoncé Bingo night with my partner and a friend--talk about a cosmic collision of fun! The place was buzzing, thanks to the bingo night and a DJ spinning Beyonce tracks. The interior was "Out of this world!" Alien artifacts and art everywhere, creating a stellar vibe. We munched on an Avocado Caesar Salad, which was surprisingly fresh and tasty. I feel like it's a little over price especially only for a few tacos. But I would say I had amazing service. I complemented one of the servers on their invader Zim stickers and they went and got me some merch came back with invader Zim stickers. I got a hair clip and socks. Super cool themed restaurant that is out of this world! I came here for the first time to celebrate my sister's birthday. They take reservations especially for larger parties. We had a more private room toward the front of the restaurant so it gave us plenty of room for our party size. We ordered a variety of appetizers, they were all very good. I really liked their pickle fries. The ranch was so good for dipping. For entrees we tried both the birria tacos and quesabirria. The spicy beef tacos were very good, it had a good amount of spice. However, I found the consommé was a bit flavorless. This is not the place for authentic Mexican cuisine but they definitely have their our swanky interpretations of classic dishes. They also have a great drink selection with fun cocktails and even mocktails. I ordered a guava mocktail which was really good. Really fun place that is located near the St John's Town Center area. A group of coworker friends and I met up at Alien Taco for some drinks and eats. There was 10 of us. They were very accommodating to our group. Our waitress was amazing. Im truly and alien now transported to Alien Taco for their $5.55 Friday Margarita special. The Jalapeno Margaita was round one with the loaded fries as a side. I can not wait for round 2! Came here on a Friday night during karaoke. The restaurant is always cool to see inside but it was chaotic. The wait to be seated wasn't long but it was cramped inside. Our table was right in the waitstaff's pathway so it was constant foot traffic, too loud to hear anything, the food was really good though despite having longer wait times for service at the table. Our waitress Logan was great, great service, great attitude and as soon as happy hour began she definitely let us know!
