    Mango lassi
    Sam O.

Left a lot to be desired. Tried the matar paneer and the mango lassi. The lassi was really good and I was surprised by how bright orange it was. The matar paneer was not what I expected. It was tasted like it was doused in cilantro and the paneer was really chewy and rubbery. Also, the rice doesn't come with the dish and you have to pay extra for that, which was disappointing since most places include rice with the dish. Overall, I don't think it was worth the price.

I came to Ali's Nihari on a cold winter day with some friends in search of something to warm me up from the inside and it did not disappoint. One of my friends is Pakistani and was able to recommend various dishes for our group to try. For the appetizer, we ordered the beef samosas. While the outside was nice crispy, I did think the meat inside was a bit dry and crumbly, not my favorite texture. Next came the Ali's Nihari which was just perfect. The sauce has a very rich, comforting flavor full of spice and the beef is extremely tender. I especially enjoyed dipping some paratha and naan in the sauce. The chicken biryani is a gigantic portion, which I can only imagine being shared. The rice was fragrant and chicken was well-seasoned. Finally, we also got a chana masala, mostly for health. It was lighter in flavor compared to the other dishes but still solid. Service throughout the meal was average and I thought the prices were quite reasonable, especially since the portion sizes were large. Next time, I'll come back just for the Ali's Nihari. Food: 4/5 Service: 3.5/5 Price: 4.25/5 Ambiance: 4.25/5 Overall: 4/5

I was looking to try more restaurants on Devon, and a friend suggested I go here. Super glad I did, everything was amazing. It's very spacious inside, with ambiance and decor a little on the fancy side. And the food is great. My friends and I got the Karahi Gosht, Karahi Chicken, and a grill item, with naan to share. Everything was good, but the chicken was my favorite, the flavor was just so good. I definitely plan on coming back here, and have been telling my friends to go check it out. Very happy with the whole experience!

This is my hidden gem - one of the best halal hamburgers in Chicago is actually at @aliniharibbq Everything about it is simple yet flavorful and the fries it comes with are always fresh and delicious too. And all for under $10? A steal. It is under the kids menu lol but still a pretty decently sized portion. Their other traditional dishes are actually quite good too, nothing to complain about there either! The nihari is still good without being as oily as other places which is wonderful. Prices have gone up since they first opened to be on the same level as other established restaurants on Devon, but I don't blame them. The quality and service is still good and they're a great place to bring family as well. Highly recommend!

Went to Ali's Nihari for lunch and loved it. It's a clean, spacious, and family friendly restaurant serving halal Pakistani cuisine on Devon avenue m. The service was fast and the food arrived quickly. We ordered Nihari, tandoori naan , and mutton pulao. The nihari was delicious. Really enjoyed it with fresh tandoori naans. The mutton pulao was also flavorful with many mutton pieces. Enjoyed our lunch and will be back to try other things from their menu.

Stop by here for lunch yesterday because I was craving Nahari. The service was impeccable and polite. The portions were big I got the Nihari and nali nihari! Loved both!

I've only had Pakistani food one other time and it was delicious. And Ali's was also! Service was great and everything we had was amazing. We tried the vegetable samosas, Pakistani butter chicken, lamb kefte with curry and of course an amazing garlic naan! Definitely coming back!

Super watery, no flavor butter chicken.

I ordered a butter chicken, it only had 5 pieces of chicken for $15 AND was watery af. I got butter chicken soup-ick.

Had a delicious meal here last month! The three of us shared, Nihari, mutton biryani, Bihari kebab and naan. Prices are fairly reasonable and portions are huge. Service was good, considering it was a very busy Saturday night. The food is flavorful, and some of the best I have had on Devon. I've also ordered takeout of the mutton biryani from here and it was tasty. Definitely recommend this area and will be coming here more often!

The least flavorful nihari I've ever had. Please don't waste your money here and go to sabri's instead.

I arrive within twenty-one minutes buying only a quarter's worth of time at the parking meter thinking surely that would be enough time to grab my carryout order? Guys, why was I waiting an additional twenty minutes for food when nobody was in this restaurant? I hate when a restaurant draaaaaaags without giving any reasons. Thali shops have literal fast food. Not in the American sense but the foods are as simple as crepes (dosa) served with chutney. The other items would need more time. Curries, biriyani, etc Ordered an onion dosa and a masala dosa. Texture was different from what I'm accustomed to eating. But I'm wanting something similar to South Indian style. The onion dosa contained what looked like a full, medium sized onion. In Southie style it should be pan fried till brown, sometimes incorporated into the dosa or stuffed inside, this was barely translucent. Didn't slap. The masala dosa was mid. Didn't touch much. Hate throwing away food but.. Not wasting the stomach on barely good. Something about the texture of the dosa wasn't... It just wasn't good. One and done. If a restaurant offers dosa, it's gotta be great. Maybe their other foods are better?

When I say Tan you say Dory…read more Tan! Dory! Tan! Dory! Yes I know it's spelled different but the message here is to get the Tandoori. Easily the best Indian I've had. The highlights were garlic naan, Lamb Vindaloo, and of course the Tandoori Chicken. The only criticisms was that the Chili Naan was way too spicy. I like heat and Indian heat never really gets my mouth burning. This Chili was really just raw hot peppers in the Naan. Tikka masala was actually not great either. Favorite of the below was the lamb vindaloo followed by the tandoori chicken. The somosas were my favorite I've had to day- gotta get the lamb. They had those funky little indian pickles too which were great. Super aromatic. I felt it seeping through my pores (in a great way) for the next few days. Momo was solid but I'd either switch to chicken chili fry Momo or chicken 65 next time. This was our order: 2 orders of tandoori chicken 1 order of chicken tikka masala 1 order of lamb vindaloo 1 order of palak paneer 1 order of Momo 3 orders of samosas 1 order of onion pakora 4 orders of naan 4 orders of chutney 1 order of raita 1 order of pickles 1 order of dessert And we ate it all! 6 of us. Shoutout to the incredible staff and chef. We were able to meet him which was an honor and a privelage.

Well seasoned, grilled, meat soft, juicy, the fat is nicely rendered. I would get this again but it's so expensive. The restaurant was quite packed and full of patrons. Overall the restaurant was very loud and it was hard to hear in there. We ordered the Chicken Biryani, The Highway Chicken Karahi, the lamb kebabs, the chicken Bihari kebabs, chicken Tikka and the beef Seekh kebabs. Although the food looked good, it wasn't quite up to the mark. The chicken biryani was dry and had too much essence in it, the chicken Tikka was dry. The chicken Karahi and the lamb kebabs by far were their best dishes. Honestly though for $228, we felt the food was overpriced and the quality of the food, fell well short of our expectations.
