Fan of the cute vibe. My friends and I opted to try a new spot for our monthly dining ritual. A friend has recommended, racing about their delicious shareable food options. The patio vibe was there. However, the food, not so there. We ordered: chicken skewers, Greek salad, hummus trio, fish dish-risoto [the host raved about it.] It was busy, but not as busy. Sadly, our food was half cooked, and fish dish was terrible. The server & host manager did stop by and ask what we thought of the dishes & why we didn't like them. We ended up ordering desserts. My husband and I came here on a whim on a Sunday night after spending the afternoon in Venice. I'd heard about Alisa opening on Abbot Kinney and I love Greek food, so I was curious about trying this place. We got street parking in the neighborhood (which isn't always easy to get). When we arrived, we were seated immediately. Both the interior and the exterior of the restaurant are so beautiful, with an old-world feel. Their outdoor dining was perfect on a late summer evening. Service was friendly and efficient. We never waited very long for anything. At the time we came, I'd seen some bad reviews of the food here so I wasn't sure what to expect, but we loved everything we ordered. For appetizers, we shared the halloumi, flatbread, eggplant and tzatziki dips. All of these were excellent and the dips tasted freshly made. For mains, my husband got the black cod orzo while I had the octopus. The orzo was served in a lobster stock which added a rich and unique flavor to his dish. My octopus came with a carrot puree and parsley aioli which I really liked. It was also a perfect serving size after the amount of appetizers we had. We both had wine and were happy with the orange and white wines we ordered. I loved the dining experience here and am glad to have this addition to Abbot Kinney. read more

Had such a lovely dinner at Alisa tonight! Every dish was fresh, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. We started with the hummus, smoked tomato, grilled eggplant, grilled halloumi, and warm flatbread--all fantastic. The spanakopita was so incredibly good that we immediately ordered a second one! For our mains, the branzino was perfectly cooked and delicate, while both the beef and chicken skewers were tender, juicy, and seasoned just right. Even though we were completely full, we couldn't resist dessert. We shared two incredible chocolate mousses to cleanse the palate (because why not?) and finished with the frozen Greek yogurt, which was the perfect light, refreshing ending to an outstanding meal. But after when it came to the rest of the meal and the main courses, the service was extremely slow and it took a very long time for the food to come out. We sat at our table inside, and they were kind enough to move us outside before our entrees came out. The outside is definitely better than the inside. My husband and two of our friends sat outside and ordered the following: - spanakopita (absolutely delicious, but only has 2 per order so we each had about 2 small bites per person) - tzatziki (soooo good. The dips don't come with anything to dip them in, so you have to order that on the side. We each got a flatbread and it was amazing) - spicy feta dip (also incredible and went with the flatbread) - Greek salad (probably my least favorite dish, but still wonderful. The feta was great on top! Just felt like it wasn't necessarily worth it for the addition to me) - chicken skewers (SO FREAKING GOOD. Tender and delicious!) - beef and lamb meatballs (a true highlight. Wine & Friends & RATS. Do not eat here unless you want your dinner to be complete with a side of gigantic rats. This place should be as ashamed and shut down by the health department. When we confronted the manager about the situation and showed her video evidence of the giant rat running around she played it down like nothing was wrong. Her response was that the exterminator was now going to come weekly. Which tells me that this is an ongoing issue for them, and it has happened in the past. How dare you serve food to people with gargantuan rodents running around. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. There are plenty of other good places that are SANITARY. read more

We decided to go out tonight and spend an evening together and chose this restaurant since we already love the team's other spot "Mom Please." The atmosphere and interior are beautiful and cozy with a modern Mediterranean style that immediately sets the mood. We were greeted by very friendly and welcoming staff which made the start of the evening feel great. The eggplant dip was delicious with a light smoky flavor not overpowering perfectly balanced and goes amazing with the flatbread. The Greek salad was excellent as well: fresh quality ingredients sweet tomatoes everything crisp and flavorful. The octopus was cooked perfectly and paired with carrot puree it created a truly great combination. The only thing I would point out is that we had to ask for our plates to be cleared and during the whole time no one checked if we wanted to refresh our cocktails. For the price point and style of the restaurant this is something worth improving. I was there last weekend, While they had a cozy patio, i found the tables too close to each other and the place extremely loud. Our servers came to our table maybe twice, and after bringing food he didn't show up anymore till the check. They had a good wine selection, and their fresh flat bread was truly good. The ambiance of the space is beautiful and thoughtfully designed but I will say toward the end of the evening, it became hard to hear... the acoustics of the space inside make it quite loud. I walked past this little treasure with no intentions of going in, but sure enough the tide swayed me towards her doors, I walked into this serene space, feeling at peace immediately. And seeing as I unknowingly stepped into another world, with no plan, I said hi, I don't have a reservation, but i'm here. She said no problem, are you okay seated inside? I said sure! She walked me to my table for two, seated as one on a Wednesday at 6:30pm. The lights were dimmed, the inside was open, white, light, clean, calm, I'm transported to Greece. Before I could take a seat, they didn't let the inside empty chairs fool me, they said, step outside, check out the back, so I did and saw everything and everyone; packed, joyous, couples, families, everyone enjoying themselves and the atmosphere. As if this wasn't an invitation enough to get the ball rolling on my love life. On my return I knew I needed something light and refreshing. The waitress, kind and new, came up to me asking what I wanted to drink. I needed something slightly different, my norm being a cab. So we landed on a chilled red, for a warm day in Socals "winter", of which I cannot remember the name of, something from Norcal. After that I knew I needed more. The anchovies were a must try and the crudo immediately caught my eye. Let me tell you the crudo was exactly what I needed at that moment in time. Cold, fresh, thinly sliced, sauced in a flavor blend I was ready to bottle up and take home with me. The waitress was kind, the sommelier was available and ready, both checking in with me frequently as I enjoyed the experience. I quickly realized I needed a little something more so I took her up on the guidance towards pita and spicy feta dip. The warm soft freshly cooked pita sealed the deal. My husband and I asked a few very basic questions about the menu, and Ornella was unable to answer them, telling us that she had just returned from vacation and "wasn't sure," though she offered to ask someone else. Her tone throughout the interaction came across as rude, rushed, condescending, and dismissive, which made us feel uncomfortable rather than welcomed. It was disappointing because the setting had so much potential to be a great evening, but the attitude and lack of helpfulness from our server ended up overshadowing everything else. Alisa is one of the most aesthetically pleasing restaurants I've been to in Los Angeles. Great for the eye. All the waitstaff were uniformly attired which is indicative of a management that's concerned about presentation. The clientele were all fashionably dressed too. So it was a good looking crowd. I enjoy that. We had the chicken skewers with a tomato and onion salad, scampi and flat bread. Roasted potatoes added to the overall pleasure of a great meal. Service was excellent. My only suggestion would be to eliminate the 4.7% service fee. These extra fees are rearing their ugly heads everywhere and they are tiresome to say the least. The money I spent over and above the cost of the meal that did not end up in my belly quickly adds up. $16 dollar valet fee, 4.7% service fee, 20% tip. Just something to think about. read more

Luckily, we booked a few weeks in advance this time, and it was well worth the wait. The space is cozy and charming, with a white-toned, Santorini-inspired decor that feels both elegant and inviting. Soft lighting from oil lamps adds to the intimate, warm ambiance. The host and wait staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. We started with warm, tender flatbread. We chose hummus and eggplant dip, both of which were creamy, smooth, and paired deliciously with the bread. The Greek salad was perfectly executed with ripe, juicy tomatoes, crisp cucumbers, and thick-cut, creamy, salty feta that brought everything together beautifully. The Bluefin tuna was a surprise highlight. It included both the toro (fatty) and lean cuts, showcasing a beautiful balance. The grilled meats were also spot on tender, juicy, and seasoned just right. We enjoyed an incredible bottles of Greek wine (they have a great selection), which elevated the whole experience. What a wonderful experience as we visited LA for the weekend from New York. From start to finish the service, ambiance, and the food was 10 out of 10 . Our waitress was very knowledgeable and very sincere checked on us multiple times , we sat in the back outside, which was very romantic. We started off with a Greek salad and the spanakopita for our starters. For our main dishes we did the black cod with orzo and the Waygu Skewers with Shishido peppers and tzatziki, which was amazing. Everything was cooked perfectly. The flavors were bold and flavorful and smashed a while together, and we ended our dinner with the dark chocolate mousse, which had a bit of sea salt on it and a little bit of olive oil and that was out of this world. Wow, I genuinely enjoyed the food. The lamb was solid and the halloumi cheese was amazing - perhaps one of the best I have had in Los Angeles. Everything tasted fresh and carefully made. The kitchen clearly knows what it is doing. The decor deserves credit too. It feels authentic but updated. It is warm and modern without trying too hard. You walk in and feel like you might be in the right place. It's small, and really loud so may not be great for a date night. But it's vibey. Service was just ok. It was busy when we arrived and we stood at the door for a few minutes wondering if we were meant to seat ourselves or if we had walked into the wrong spot. Nothing terrible but slightly confusing. Once we were seated the food came quickly and our server was ok. Maybe understaffed that specific day. Ok, so why 4 stars and not 5? The bill arrived and the mood changed. There was an automatic 6 percent "enter something very LA" charge added. The payment screen was lit up on full brightness as she stares at you navigating how to press and sign in the air with default tip options of 22 percent 25 percent and 30 percent. No explanation. No subtlety. No flexibility. It feels like a tactic and it cheapens what was otherwise a genuinely nice meal. I simply do not understand why restaurants do this. Yes maybe you get an extra 10-12% from people who do not want to make a scene. But you lose something bigger. You lose repeat customers. You lose word of mouth. As a normal Los Angelian I would have come back and I would have told friends about it. Instead I will probably do neither. If your food costs more to make then charge more for the dishes. Seriously Just be upfront. Charge more. Do not add layers of percentages and surprise fees at the end. It makes the place feel less confident in what it offers even though the food is excellent. The spinach pies also v good although for price the size was pretty small. Pricey place like $8 for one flatbread, should be two in my opinion.
