This place is straight out on a Pinterest board. I love the intimate and nicely lit setting. I felt like I was in someone's home. We ordered the black cod with orzo, and the Wagyu skewers. Of course we had to order their pita bread which was absolutely delicious! The Wagyu skewers were gone in no time, it was the perfect serving size to fill me up. The cod was perfectly seasoned and the orzo was the delicious, buttery texture. Never had orzo with lobster bisque before, but I'll have to try to remake that at home! Alisa is one of my friend's favorite spots so I was so excited to try it!! If you come in on the earlier side (before 7) it's not super busy, but then it starts to pick up after then. It's a beautifully decorated spot and really transports you to Greece. The staff are very friendly and attentive. We found parking in a lot down the street. It's family style, so we ordered several things to share. Yuzu OJ Cream Soda ($9): Caffeine free, non-alcoholic. SUPER sweet. Almost too sweet. But yummy dessert type of drink! *Refills are not free Tzatziki ($11): Really fresh, tastes good with the bread and veggies Eggplant dip ($11): This may have been my favorite??? It has a really intensely smoky garlic flavor and is best with the bread. I felt it didn't go as well with the veggies. Would come back just for this. Flatbread ($12): This bread is incredibly good, but I do feel that you should get at least 2 pieces for the price. Definitely get it with the dips. Seabass crudo agua chili ($23): Good salsa flavor with a little heat. I have no idea how much seabass costs as a fish but I do feel we could've skipped this one for the price. Chicken skewer ($23): Nicely grilled chicken with that charred flavor, not too dry!! Enough for 2 people imo. But also realistically you can get chicken skewers with sides and a drink for this price elsewhere. The sauces were good. Grilled farmer greens ($14): Very yummy, also with a chargrilled flavor. It came with broccolini, asparagus, shishito peppers, and I think some type of onion. Crudites ($8): Fresh rainbow carrots, cucumber with some sort of oil to add a little flavor. Good for health but tbh not necessary because the bread tastes better with the dips. In sum, this meal was approximately $86 per person with tax, service fee (4.7%), and 20% tip, which is pretty high for a meal without alcohol. My biggest suggestion would be to consider lowering the cost of the flatbread. Great for special occasions, or if your wallet can afford this price for a casual evening. My mom was working as professional chief and front of the house all her life in Russia/USA and super critical about food and service! They did an awesome job of designing the indoor and outdoor space to transport you to the chic Greek isles. They only serve wine (robust offerings), beer and sake based cocktails/spritzers. No hard liquor. Our table wasn't ready yet, so we went to the bar for some drinks and Niko took great care of us. He recommended a few drinks for us to try and honestly, they were all amazing. Once we got seated, Alex was our server and he was awesome. He was super helpful and gave us some really good recommendations throughout the menu. So so so good. We started with flatbread which was unreal - a little charred on top and doughy in the middle with a little oil. The smoked tomato salad was a total standout - smokey and citrusy. The orzo was phenomenal. Steak skewers were tender and paired really well with scallops. Went for a birthday and they comp'd a really fantastic mousse (which was the best we've had - super dense and served with a little olive oil and sea salt). Atmosphere is really chic and warm. When we confronted them about it they were like sorry one of the waitress added something to your table. Watch out! Regardless the food was delicious and the service was excellent. We needed to come as walk-ins to check if we could get a table, and the receptionist was kind enough to get us one. I appreciated that given the hectic day! This was a surprising outstanding experience. It's one of the "quieter" restaurants on Abbott Kinney but the food, wine, and service were exemplary. I think it might be the best Greek / mediterranean meal I've ever had. Our server, Cherelle, was amazing and recommended all amazing choices (pita, eggplant, red pepper spread, mushrooms, Greek salad). She also recommended the lamb but I opted not to do red meat and got the black cod instead (but should've listened to her and gotten the lamb!) The ambience is lovely and I'd say the best place to sit is in the upstairs dining room, it's a little quieter than the downstairs. It's a tapas style place so you have to get multiple items, each item had a decent price. However the food was pretty bland overall, the "smoked tomato salad" was just tomatoes and olive oil, no smoked or sweet onion on it, same with the side of the potatoes, they were just potatoes. The best tasting item were the meatballs if you're ok with the gamey taste of lamb. We came here to celebrate my dad's birthday with our family, but the evening was ruined by an extremely loud table of teenagers next to us who were yelling throughout dinner. We asked management to step in, and the manager did speak with them several times, but nothing changed. The most disappointing part was the complete lack of customer service afterward. Management knew our experience had been disrupted, yet offered no courtesy, no discount, no apology beyond speaking to the table, and no effort to make things right. Let me start by saying that I did HEAVY research on great Greek restaurants in LA for my man's birthday, and narrowed it down to here and a popular one in Malibu. I chose Alisa because it was a bit closer and had better (though fewer) reviews. Alisa Wine & Friends is super cute, chic Mediterranean decor with indoor and outdoor seating. Parking is a challenge like anywhere in Venice, but we found street parking a block away. We came at 7:15pm on a Sunday with a reservation and were sat pretty quickly. Every menu item we tried was pretty good, if I had to pick a favorite dish it would be the spicy feta dip, even though neither dip came with anything to dip in it and the flatbread was another $8. The Greek salad was underwhelming as was the grilled squid, definitely could have passed on both of those. I think what really killed this spot for me was the service. Evangelos was our server, and honestly everything was off. We sat for about 10-15 minutes when we first arrived after receiving water waiting to order. I ordered a bottle of pinot grigio, and instead of presenting both options, he just charged the more expensive one. The bottle was brought without an ice bucket, and I had to ask for one twice from both Evangelos and a woman who seemed like a hostess to get it to the table. My wine glass had a bug in it and I also had to ask twice to get a clean one, which the woman graciously brought over. We waited probably 20 minutes at the end to pay the bill after asking for it twice, and the table behind us had to do the same thing and cash out with the woman who was cleaning up because Evangelos was nowhere to be found. Overall, I'd expect better on every front for a $300+ dinner for two. Maybe this would be a good spot for drinks with a friend? But I wouldn't return for dinner and definitely not for a special occasion. read more

I brought my parents here for Mother's Day and had made a reservation for around 4pm. Unfortunately, we were seated at the very back of the terrace next to a large party with children running around throughout the entire back section of the restaurant. Considering the occasion, it was disappointing, especially because there were multiple other open tables available that would have provided a much nicer atmosphere for celebrating with my parents. What made the experience feel especially uncomfortable was seeing other parties who arrived after us -- including a table of younger girls who were not celebrating Mother's Day and on their phones the entire meal -- being seated in much more desirable areas while we remained tucked away in what honestly felt like the worst table in the restaurant. As someone who has lived in Venice for over five years and supported this neighborhood regularly, the experience left me questioning whether we were being unfairly treated or profiled. I do want to note that our server was very kind and attentive, and I have no complaints regarding the service itself. This feedback is specifically about the seating experience and overall hospitality on what was meant to be a special family occasion. We were having an absolutely incredible night here--the atmosphere on Abbot Kinney is great, and the overall experience was fantastic until the bill arrived. Without any warning or clear disclosure on the menu, a 4.7% service charge was tacked onto our final check. Under California law (SB 1524), restaurants are required to clearly and conspicuously disclose these types of fees before you order. Sneaking it in at the very end feels completely deceptive and instantly put a damper on what should have been a great memory. We were so excited to go to this restaurant and had waited for a special occasion to visit. The pros of this restaurant are that it's very cute and beautifully designed, they have great glassware and plate wear and everything looks very pretty and the staff was overall nice. The cons however, really left us feeling disappointed in our visit. To begin, we had made a reservation with additional information stating that we were celebrating something special. During the meal, my husband even went up to the host stand to confirm that they had the note and if they would do something special for our celebration and they said they would. The end of dinner came and no special celebration and nothing was even mentioned. Left us feeling really underwhelmed. Even if they do not provide any complementary celebration items, they should have told us when my husband spoke to them. Everything is very overpriced, three meatballs were almost $30. The appetizers and starters you have to purchase multiple items just to actually complete one dish for example. The feta comes by itself and then you have to buy the flatbread separate. The wine pours are very small and again the cheapest glass of wine was around $20. If you are not price sensitive at all, I would visit this location because again it is very pretty however, we do not feel like what we received was value for the money we paid. read more
