After coming here a couple times per month for nearly 5 years, I'm sad to say this will be my last visit. Terrible service. After telling the chef that I was allergic to dark chocolate and I had bought the "chocolate sea salt toffee" treat for $6, he refused to let us switch to something I can eat. If you're going to label half of your treats with dark and milk and decide not to label the one of few things I order, Please have some customer decency in allowing me to switch to something I can eat. And by the way, if you plan on expecting $6 for a chocolate bar with sprinkles of toffee and calling it a "chocolate toffee bar," maybe more than a dash of sprinkles on top would be more appropriate. We go to restaurants in town for a meal and skip dessert there so we can walk over to ACK and get dessert. Terrible experience which is odd because this place used to have some of the best gelato ever. Mint isn't real, it's mint oil with lots of food coloring added. Hazelnut has a nice initial bite and burst of flavor, but ends up being waxy throughout the whole experience. Straciatella was watery and completely flavorless, but at least the dark chocolate in it had good flavor intensity. The place still looks absolutely beautiful. They do need to replace the fake LeCorbusier sofas which are sagging big time. A famous place like this should have enough money to spend on the real deal that's very comfortable. The ambiance and design is still beautiful, but I come here for ice cream, not just to look at all the pretty sculptures. It's a shame. read more

My girlfriend and I came here and got 2 of every truffle flavor offered. We haven't got through all of them yet since we've been savoring them and trying one day by day. But so far they are all super good, our favorite is the coffee bean one as of now. We got the white chocolate macadamia cookie (warmed) as well. To get a chance and stand witness to a master chef displaying his finesse with the sugar, you have to take up. Chef Alain Roby who is not only a permanent committee member of the Societe D'escofier Chicago but is a presence within the pastry and confectionary world has opened up shop off of Third and it is a sight that must be bestowed upon if in the area. His work has been featured all over the world and it is such a treat to have him locally. At the entrance his station is set up so you can watch for a few moments as he works on his next project. For this visit, he was beginning the works of glass sugar pieces that some of which stood atleast a foot tall. If you are transfixed by the amazingly creative structures, they are available for purchase. Also available are hand crafted truffles ranging in flavors including PB&J and a special Winter Wonderland. There are classic cocoa rolled truffles, but his touch on the shimmery treats will draw you immediately, and for $2 per truffle you can't go wrong. Other chocolate confections are scattered about as well as cookies so there is a bit of everything anyone with a raging sweet tooth and appreciation for such beautiful kitchen creations can enjoy. Proceeds are being donated to the Saving Tiny Hearts Society, a charity organization raising funds for congenital heart defect research. All good deeds go noticed, stop by and pick up something sweet and know that it was created with compassion and will go a long way to help out those in need. read more

I have been here several times. The gelato is amazing. It is creamy, rich and satisfying. The macaroons are yummy. I have not tried many of the pastries but others tell me they are very tasty. This place is busy but the service is friendly and pretty quick really. The prices are fairly expensive but i never leave here feeling unsatisfied and believe i am getting quality for the money. Chef Roby is a very nice and friendly man and is pretty much always in the place every time i have been there. Hasn't everyone at one time or another wished they could own a place like this? I know I have- especially before I was married and was trying to think of more reputable ways to meet beautiful women other than at bars. A chic cafe that specializes in chocolate and dessert in a trendy shopping area? Yes please. Writing this actually makes me wonder if Chef Roby has a lot of stalkers. It would stand to reason if he did because this place is really amazing on many levels, and is totally worth many frequent visits and/or wide-eyed stares through the windows. Now that I am happily married to my beautiful wife, All Chocolate Kitchen serves another, far, far more important function; namely, promoting marital happiness outside of our household. If you are married or dating, I would consider this a prime "lock your relationship down" location. Not only will All Chocolate Kitchen ensure culinary amazement and bliss, it will ensure that you will forever be associated with selecting only the very best for those you care about. It is amazing how much power of persuasion there is in a slice of fine chocolate cake. Speaking of which, the devil's food cake is utterly incredible. Light and fluffy, but also surprisingly decadent, the devil's food cake is served with a dollop of real whipped cream and a tart raspberry sauce that will leave you gasping for joy. I'd say give it a try. And you know who else says the same thing? Martha Stewart, who apparently featured this very confection on television. I'm not a huge Martha Stewart fan, but she got this one right for sure. As long as you are giving that a try, you might as well also try the key lime pie, which is sweet and tart and features a chocolate graham cracker crust. In the words of Will Farrell, "That's how babies are made." He wasn't talking about this pie in the movie I am thinking of, but I believe that he would endorse it if he got the chance. It's a guess, but when you try it you will see that literally anyone would endorse it, so, as usual, I am right again. Have it with some coffee, because the coffee is also top of the line. Are there other things to eat at the all chocolate kitchen? Yes. So many things. There are lots of other desserts (including phenomenal gelato) but there are also savory options as well if you feel absurd going somewhere just for dessert (what is WRONG with you???). I did not partake in any of these options, but they also look quality too. It is unlikely that Chef Roby would put his name on a building, go on Food Network and popular TV shows, and then fail to make a quality soup or sandwich. That would be foolhardy. The service is also top notch. It's fast and friendly, and why wouldn't it be? The baristas work in a dessert cafe where people come to indulge and leave happy. Also, they work in a beautiful space. The cafe atmosphere is trendy and warm with soft seating and tables amongst enormous chocolate sculptures and blown sugar lights. It's lovely. This is the place you want to go if you're looking to have a special afternoon or evening, bring a guest from out of town, or just quietly indulge and relax all by yourself. While I can't guarantee an experience that will make you a stalker of Chef Roby, you'll definitely be a fan of this cafe. Maybe they should hire a bouncer just in case. read more

Because of your concern we were able to double the signage and also enhanced the training regarding the allergy awareness for our employees. We want our customers to know that we sincerely care and take all comments very seriously and when we promise to do something we make sure that it is completed. We hope that you stop by once again and see the enhancements we created. Thank you." I was FINALLY able to get back out there and did notice those changes. It may seem like over-reacted but I take cross contamination seriously. Although I haven't experience a bout of anaphylaxis of recent, I still take it seriously. I accused this business for not being vigilant and how wrong I was. The manager wrote me as fast as I posted the review and he was VERY sincere about my concern. He understood my concern. Mr (Jon) Roby could have told me where I could go but he didn't. ACK is not in my normal path of travel and I REALLY wanted to come back again. I finally did and see that this issue is MORE than taken care of. I would like to thank Mr Roby for not only reaching out to me months back (right after I reviewed it), but taking my concerns seriously. To him, I say thank you so much. I'm satisfied to the point where I will modify my previous review. I hope to return again soon since the treats were very good. Job well done. One thing I'm so glad to know about All Chocolate Kitchen is that they support the United States Constitution and the American Civil Liberties Union, whose mission it is to uphold the Constitution . In these unusual times, free speech and Constitutional liberties are so important . A little sweet gem in the heart of downtown St. Charles, this shop has what your sweet tooth desires! This dessert shop is pretty spacious and has a lot of neat decorations like a life size chocolate statues and gifts that customers can purchase. The shop is pretty big and has comfortable seating. Came here on a Saturday night and it was packed. Managed to squeeze in line and order Key Lime Pie and Pistachio Gelato. The gelato here is very good and it was hard to choose from all the flavors. They offer samples before you purchase, just ask! This place serves a large variety of things from breakfast crepes, coffee, gelato, pastries, chocolates, and macaroons. This place has raised my bar for five star rating. Very impressed with the store and the menu. It was our daughters bday and we wanted to have dessert in downtown Geneva after dinner. The store was open late for weekday hour. We tried various items from their famous chocolate cake to truffles to gelato to sherbetto. Everything was good. I especially liked that the cake was not overwhelmingly sweet, like in some places. The staff was informative. One of the lead (manager?) was very witty and the girls laughed at his comments. I absolutely love this place. I am a frequent customer and have tried most of their chocolate truffles, food, gelato, and most recently their cake (which I served as my wedding cake). I would stop in every couple of weeks to buy a few truffles to treat myself with or to buy some yummies as a gift for a friend. The items they serve are very consistently delicious and different from anything else you can find around. Much better than anything in Long Grove, which has a reputation for great chocolate. Some of my favorite things are: Tahitian Carmel Truffle, Raspberry Truffle, Hot Dark Truffle, dark chocolate smoothy, chocolate covered bacon, and I love their gelato (any flavor). I got married in August. My wedding favors were a combination of 4 different truffles in small boxes that were placed at eat place setting in the reception. I also had them make my wedding cake. First, the cake was delicious - it has raspberry mouse and white chocolate mouse inside; you really can't go wrong with that. I loved it and so did the wedding guests. I literally had guests at the wedding trying to sneak more than their fair share of the truffles because they liked them so much. Great customer service too. I love Esther, Chef Roby's wife. I worked with her with all of my wedding stuff: favors and cake. I found her so fun to spend time with and very helpful. She had me try things outside of my comfort zone and I ended up liking her suggestions more than what I usually go for. I am very grateful to have had her help because i was so pleased with the end product. Can't say enough good things about ACK. Writing this has made me hungry for truffles. I am so glad that the All Chocolate Kitchen exists! As soon as I step inside I feel like I have transported to Italy. Their gelato and sorbetto surpasses all the others I have tried in the past. The flavors are so unique and true to what they say they are! Each time I sample a flavor, my taste buds are titillated beyond belief. I tried their coffee and it was the best coffee I can ever recall having. It wasn't bitter or too strong like other brands in the area, but rather smooth and savory. The ambience evokes the feeling of comfort and sophistication. I love the chocolate sculptures, too! What an artist Chef Roby is. Geneva is so lucky to have him and his family's business in our midst. I recommend it to everyone to stop in and enjoy the experience. read more

After a day of putzing around Geneva in the bitter cold this past Saturday hunting for Christmas tchotchkes. Me and the missus dropped in for afternoon coffee [first time since this place opened 2 years ago]. Excellant coffee. We enjoyed that so much we returned later for a late-night coffee and a mini yule log. We were really enjoying the "grown-up" atmosphere. So nu-said. Prices are abit high, but then it's Geneva. Here are a few thoughts; Really guys, you need to offer a larger coffee cup [for take out, at least]. Better seating: 2 or 4 seat table settees would be nice. and less of the "Paul Bunyon" style logging camp tables. Thank you for playing traditional Christmas music. It's Nice to hear the classics and not the warbbling of some current songstresses. Also, thank you for no wifi. Let the Mermaid deal with that. Now some say this place has ego all over it. So what? Chef Robey earned his chops and owned his craft. 30+ years. Dare anyone to do the same. I think with a track record like he has; alittle ego is ok. read more

One Saturday a few weeks back, my boyfriend and I just decided to walk into this place because we were randomly in Geneva one day and we decided to check it out. It blew us out of the water! It has such a great ambiance about the place, a couple couches and tables. It was so cozy and inviting to just be inside. The service was great too! They must be used to getting first time customers in awe and they were so patient and very informative (which is obviously so helpful). I got gelato and some truffles which were amazing, and my boyfriend got this berry cobbler with sweet cream gelato on top which was also amazing! Their truffles were the kind you see on the Food Network, they were little pieces of art and I almost felt bad for eating them. As we were enjoying the berry cobbler that they had warmed up for us we decided to look at their website on our phones. We had no idea that this Chef Roby was so, well, famous. I was so impressed by everything that he's accomplished and there he was, on a Saturday, just baking away in the kitchen! It really shows that he has something he loves especially being there on a Saturday. I really do applaud someone like that, who has accomplished so much and has something that they truly enjoy doing. The gelato is magnificent (hazelnut + pistachio was my item that night); didn't try the chocolate. The store is almost a museum to the owner's candy sculptures, which doesn't quite work for me. It's a minor quibble, however, as the taste experience easily overwhelms the visual. Sublime confections also carry a hefty pricetag. Well worth it, but not a place to bring the kids if you're just looking for a summer softserve treat. This place is a Special Occasion. read more

WOW! This place is amazing, everything is made of chocolate! There is even a stove that looks real, but it too is made of chocolate! Its a real chocolate experince. They even had a musician setting up for the evening...nice touch! Everything looked delicious, but I decided on the pistachio gelato and boy am I glad I did...YUM!! I sampled a few other gelatos prior to ordering and they were all delicious, but the pistachio was definitely my favorite. I found this place on yelp. The place looked amazing and fun. I ordered two scoops of gelato in a warm croissant, forgot to write what they call it. The server told me to pay and to look around that she would bring me my gelato to my seat. I paid and left a dollar tip. After a minute or two, I was approached and was told that there were no more croissants, she asked me what she could do for me. I told her that I was not picky and told her to surprise me. I figured with all the beautiful things I was seeing it would be easy for her to throw in a cookie or something. I was brought a tiramisu to which she added was fairly new to them. I did not like the tiramisu and never got my gelato. Not sure what I was supposed to do. I went there for gelato, there was a big line, was I supposed to get in line and order and pay for gelato all over again? If the tiramisu was supposed to replace the gelato, should I be asked if I like it? read more

First......5 stars for the sorbet, the gelato, the chocolate. This is what put them on the map. Second, 3 stars for the "restaurant" part of what they are doing. I'll start at the end because, I don't know. Just because. *Strains of "With or Without You" and "Should I stay or Should I Go" and "Hand in My Pocket" went through my head as I left. *Is it a cafe or is it a restaurant? It isn't sure. *The gelato was excellent as usual. *I asked if we could get our plates cleared. We were done, we wanted dessert, our plates just sat there...empty...waiting for someone to get them. *Our food came to the table without silverware or napkins. *The tea was served with nowhere to put the tea bag after the tea had steeped. *We sat there for quite a while waiting for the waitress to come by and take our order. But...she wasn't a waitress, she was only disguised as one! She was a food deliverer, but not an order-taker. Silly us for not recognizing the difference. So, that's how it went. The quiche? 5 stars. The service? Also 5 stars once we figured out things. Taylor is a great assistant manager, it was really user error on our part that caused all the confusion. So, bottom line? Walk in, look at the food in the cases, get someone's attention, order the food, and go sit down. Most likely it will get delivered to your table with a smile and you'll love it. When you are done, bring the dishes up yourself...or, just ask them to clear the table, then go and order dessert. You'll love the food, you'll feel only slightly awkward with the logistics, and you'll get to say you've eaten at one of the great chocolate shops in all the world. read more

Absolutely wonderful! I got a Ghiradelli hot chocolate and my sister got the other variety (Grand Cru I think?). We sipped our drinks before our table was ready at Nosh next door. I consider myself a hot chocolate connoisseur and Chef Roby's ACK did not disappoint! The know their chocolate for sure. The young woman at the register was very knowledgable about the different types of chocolate they use for their offerings and helped us decide what drinks to order from their hot beverage menu.
