We were fortunate to find All German Auto about 11 years ago when we bought our Mercedes wagon. We now have 322,000 miles on that car and that is because of the loving care it has received at AGA. By describing a noise, smell, shake or any experience with the car they can tell us what is causing it, what it will take to fix it, how long it will take and what we need to be on the road again and they are usually dead on accurate! More important than telling us what we need, Troy and Cameron are quick to point out what we don't need and how to extend the time before a repair is required. They are always honest with their assessment of how to save money without cutting corners but also right on when it comes to telling us when we must fix something right away. If you are looking for an honest and reliable mechanic to take your German car to for repairs, look no further! I am happy to highly recommend "All German Auto". They are the best German car repair shop in Southern California. As a female, I feel that I can trust them with their diagnosis of my BMW 330i. I have been taking my car to them for repairs over the past several years and I feel that they have always been honest and fair with their diagnosis and pricing. They are very reliable, they always follow up with a call to let you know what is going on with your car and when it is going to be ready. Their service is awesome and I've always received my car back on the day promised, beautifully washed and vacuumed. They also provide a shuttle service to pick you up or drop you off if you live within the area. My service rep Troy has always been on the ball when it comes to customer service, and the shuttle driver Lewis is very courteous and on time for an early morning pick up. Martin, the owner, is very hands on with his business. He is very knowledgeable and takes the time answer any questions and provides great customer service. All German Auto does not do any advertising, all of their business is by "word of mouth". I cannot even begin to express my disappointment in the people All German Auto. After much deliberation on whether or not to rent the tools need to replace the worn valve seals in X5 or to take the plunge and spend the $990.00 for the N62 Valve Stem Seal Master's Collection tool set and an additional 93.24 on 2 day express air shipping, I discovered that my order which was paid for on Wednesday will not be arriving until next Monday. Please keep in mind that the same tool along with a leak down tester, which is required for the repair can be rented on Ebay for $280.00 with free shipping. As a supporter of All German Auto for their innovation in tool design and general education to the public, I decided to spend the extra money; put off a trip to Tokyo, both to satisfy a long time customer and support what I thought was a great American company. All of this only to find out that their customer service representative Richard Nguyen, did not take the time to check his email and discover my order until it was too late to have the tools shipped to me by Friday. I hate to say it, but if you find yourself in a situation where you might need to buy or rent and your only option to buy is through AGA, I would have to say rent all the way. $1,093.24 and a long time customer down the drain. As a frequent poster/admin to many Bimmerfest forums I can honestly say Martin and his team set the bar super high for Indy BMW shops! They are the best at developing parts and repair processes that both innovative and provide high quality with a TRUE value pricing approach! As a nervous owner of the infamous BMW 4.4L N62 engine car I know this first hand! Not sure what I am talking about? Google it, check out the huge amount of threads (Bimmerfest) out there on this widely used motor in many 2004-2008 BMW 5, 6, 7 and X5's. This motor is plagued with problems....the 2 big one's?...value stem seal failure (white smoke at idle,P0941,2 error codes) and the coolant pipe going bad under the manifold. Martin Christenson, owner pf All German Auto is a rare breed in todays world of auto mechanics - he is technical, knows what he is doing, charges a fair price, can be trusted and will find and fix the problem quickly. If anyone has any problem with a Bmw, Porsche or Mercedes i would take All German over the dealer any day. My 2007 bmw 335i was diagnosed by 3 different dealerships (including Encinitas BMW) as having a blown rod. All 3 dealers suggested a total engine replacement at prices between 15k to $22k+. Encinitas BMW $charged me $1000 just to tell me i needed a new engine. Martin looked at my car, diagnosed the problem and with a new set of rods and a cleaning of the cam shaft, for $2100, i am out the door and the car runs better than it has in years. 5 star. My wife was happy with the service and that earns five stars. Troy has been spot on with getting the parts and having the car done when he says it will be done. Everything they have done on my cars are performance related which I will not trust a dealership to do. The shop is clean and everybody is very friendly. It's nice to know there is a shop to bring my German machines to and have them treat the cars with respect. It's also nice to talk to the guys behind the counter and see the passion they have for cars. Seems like everybody there really likes their jobs. I have all my projects quoted to me and am very Lucky that All German Auto can beat everybody and still give you great service. That goes to show you do not always get what you pay for. Went in for my rough-idle VW EOS expecting a big bill. They got me right in, said it would be $118 to diagnose. Turns out the coil above spark plug to the #1 cylinder appeared bad. To confirm the root cause, they moved swapped the coil with another position and the problem went away! That was not expected. While they recommended I replace the coil, they were honest enough to give me an option to wait until the problem showed up later and admitted the problem may not come back. I chose to wait. They reset the warning engine indicator light for me. They didn't even charge me for the $118 diagnostic because they resolved it in way under an hour!! These guys are both GOOD and honest. This is the best auto shop I've ever been to. I came here after getting a quote at BMW of San Diego for quite high amount. While the service rep Andy at BMW of San Diego either did not know or didn't care to explain to me what was wrong with the car, Steve, at All German Auto, was considerate (and very knowledgeable) enough to explain in detail what was wrong with my car. Not to mention the costs were a lot more competitive, and they cleaned my car at no charge. I highly recommend AGA - Excellent service! I took my 2004 BMW 330Ci today to AGA for a coolant leak check which, I suspected, is coming from the expansion tank based on the previous week's personal observation. Fred S. (service advisor) did an excellent job explaining what needs to be performed (task plan) and an initial cost estimate. The diagnosis was completed in very timely manner. The expansion tank (ET) and the ET thermostat were replaced. AGA returned the old parts and provided a complimentary tire pressure and car wash services! When a leaf spring flew into my grille on the freeway and destroyed the radiator, fan, A/C condenser and various other parts, I had no question where I would tow my car. There was extensive damage and I had my car back in one week! The insurance wanted to use reconditioned parts, but AGA knew that my VW Jetta (TDI) would need new parts to maintain the value of the car. I've dealt Troy at AGA for six years with two old BMW vehicles. They are excellent to deal with, both honest with the repairs required and not required, and their pricing is very reasonable. When they tell me something needs doing, I trust them where I feel I have been ripped off by the BMW dealer on several occasions. One of the cleanest shops I've been to. Troy (Service Manager) was great and I was able to email back and forth with him on status etc. Good prices, great quality service. I took my 2006 BMW Z4 Roadster in to All German Auto in Escondido with a steering problem that was really getting scary. They checked it out and found the left front strut was blown and the lower control arm bushings were badly worn. The replaced the left strut, replaced both control arm bushings and brackets, and we also put on a new set of Sumitomo HTR tires. She runs tight and as smooth as when she came off the show room floor. Driving is fun again! . read more
