This was my first visit to All Spice. It was an absolutely AMAZING experience. I last visited All Spice years ago when they had 1 Michelin star and I honestly don't remember the experience other than I'm pretty sure we had a good time. We frequently pass by since we're in the area and have been considering returning for a visit, which we finally just did! We were also on the hunt for a local restaurant that could accommodate a wedding dinner celebration, but realized too late that they are closed on the day we were eyeing. They offer a 3, 4 or 5 course choose-your-own menu starting at $90 for the 3 course, $110 for the 4, and $120 for the 5. There's some dishes with a supplemental fee, but it's noted on the menu. Also, wine pairing is available for $12/course and if you choose to bring your own wine, corkage is $15/bottle. The ambience is really lovely and cute. It looks like a house and the restaurant is separated into 3 rooms. I love the first room to the right with the fireplace. Very intimate and cozy! When we went, one of the larger groups in another room was a bit rowdier, and it definitely did not match the vibes. Although that's not the restaurant's fault, I did feel much more at ease once that party packed up and left. Service was great! Our servers changed mid-meal, and although our first one was fine, we thought the second one was more personable. They graciously packed up any dishes I was unable to finish (eyes bigger than my stomach) and the wine pours got more generous as the night progressed. Maybe they noticed me stealing sips? The food was also really good. I really enjoyed the sunchoke tikka and salmon courses, as well as their version of a miso soup. The portions are also quite large, hence me being unable to finish 5 courses. I will definitely have to come back in the future once the menu changes. Came by for dinner the other night and it was a tasty experience. All Spice is featured in the Michelin guide. Made a reservation and our table was ready upon arrival. Parking is available in their private lot or on the nearby residential street. There were numerous high end vehicles in the lot. All Spice is located inside a very old house. The dining room is dated and the service throughout the evening was very attentive. Dinner is either 3, 4, or 5 courses where each diner can choose their own course. Started off with the housemade sourdough and it was decent. It was served with some spread. The amuse bouche was tasty. The goat cheese tart was a generous portion and quite filing. I loved all of the accoutrements with this course. The cod course was good with different flavors to contrast the cod. The venison was tasty, especially with the different accoutrements. I liked the dessert course too. It was a decomposed cake presented in a very nice manner. This review is long overdue! All Spice has become my go to place for all special occasions. The restaurant is a converted home which makes for a very intimate dining experience with a limited amount of tables available. The menu is prix fixe with the option of 3-5 courses and is updated regularly giving you the option to always try something new. On top of the stellar food, the service is next level. Silverware is switched out between every course and the waiter explains each dish as it's brought out. The service was great. The place was hard to find. It's nestled between two commercial buildings. Just a random cottage. There is some Parking. The whole set up is very quaint. This more fusion. The food is overall very good. Portion sizes are small but filling. You can have a three course or four course or five course meal. You'll pick from the appetizer and then entree and dessert. Food was delicious, mainly American with Indian influences. Wine - very small selection, and not that great in my opinion. Both our wines were not great. I recommend brining your own bottle and paying the $15 corkage fee. Coffee - got the French pressed decaf, enjoyed it with dessert. Both my partner and I did 3 courses for $85 pp. we chose to do one dish from each category. Appetizers: Smoke black Cod - 4/5 it was more like a potato salad with cod in it. I just felt like it was too heavily dressed. There was a ton of texture though, so it felt light. Persimmon / asparagus salad (seasonal) - 5/5 loved the flavors for this one. Very good starter. Entree: (both of these entrees were an extra $8 supplemental charge) both 5/5 NY strip steak - cooked very well to a medium rare as I requested. The pepito sauce was great and the salad paired well with the dish Lamb loin - I don't even like lamb, but this was well cooked! It paired well with the charred broccolini and sauces. I love how the pre fixe menu is flexible so you can choose exactly what you want to order. The adorable house it's in is cozy, quaint and romantic. Absolutely a five-star meal overall. Celebrated my friend's birthday at All Spice. It was both of our first times at the restaurant, and we agreed that we had an overall great experience. All Spice was a cute house in the middle of a residential area that was converted into a restaurant. We were the only guests for some time and then a second party came later. We were localized in one main room, but there were multiple rooms in the house to seat more guests. Service was excellent. Food came out in a timely manner, and our server was on it! He was highly attentive and very nice. You can choose a 3-, 4-, or 5- course meal, and you don't have to match the others in your party. We both decided to get the 4-course meal as there were many things off the menu we wanted to try. I got 2 apps, 1 entree, and a dessert for my 4 courses. The food was beautifully presented, and they were flavorful. Complimentary cauliflower soup - This was a cold soup that came out in a small shot glass size of a serving. Great way to whet our appetites. Had some type of distinct spice flavor that I liked, such as cumin. House sourdough bread - Soft crumb with sliced olives. There was also house made butter. We visited All Spice for a dinner because it was highly recommended by colleagues. The restaurant is hard to spot and is located off El Camino, though I find it easier to enter from the back. The restaurant is located in a small cottage and the dining room definitely has some character. The service was attentive and the experience is meant to be bougie. While the food overall was pretty good, I found the portions to be really small. I went for a 3 course but probably should've ordered 5 courses. Their wine list was short, so if possible I'd recommend bringing a good bottle that pairs well with Spices. What an amazing surprise! Friends invited us to All Spice for dinner last night and Everything was Fantastic! We were so warmly greeted and seated immediately, in spite of the fact that we were the first to arrive. Josue warmly walked us through the truly creative and fun menu. You can order as many courses as you like and everything was truly delicious and flavorful. I had a vegetarian roasted onion "steak" that was about the best thing I ever tasted. The samurai Caesar was also uniquely delicious. We also loved the mushroom tart and the waygu strip loin were winners. Who knew there was a chic, little restaurant hidden away off of El Camino and 92? Certainly not me. Looking for a unique and delicious night out for a celebration, stumbled upon All Spice. It lived up to the unique and was a perfect place for a fancy celebration. The menu is a mix and match for a pre-set price. Yes, it's not cheap but the courses offered are luxurious, well presented and quite delicious. You probably don't want to come here every night, but it's perfect for that one special event. I'd love to say that I remember the details of everything we ate, but that didn't happen simply because we were enjoying the experience instead of taking Yelp notes. Honestly, everything in the photos was a good as it looks. The wine list was decent. Unusually, there were a few wines and cider that were made by the owners. Being new to winemaking, don't expect the wines to be outstanding. But given some time and experience, they could have a hand in the game. Parking is a private lot or plenty of street parking, but finding it can be a challenge. It's easier to drive around looking for the entrance on the back streets than El Camino. The building is an old, Victorian home, so dress accordingly. If it's hot outside, it'll be hotter inside. If it's cold outside, it'll be colder inside. We were able to customize the menu and menu for our team because it was a team event that I arranged and they were able to work with us to make it, the food is a fusion of Asian cuisine and I can tell you that they have done a great job in putting together the right kind of stuff in there. The Lemon posset was also a refreshing way to end the meal. We were also served a complimentary amuse bouche to start the meal, along with bread and shallot butter. You have the flexibility of selecting which dish you want for each course, along with the number of courses you want for your meal. I had heard about this restaurant and its chef for a few years, but didn't get a chance to eat here until this past weekend. The location isn't quite what you'd expect, a house off El Camino Real. Inside they've transformed the living/dining rooms to a cozy dining space. The 3 course menu is a great value at $80; we had the option to choose 2 starters and a main or the usual starter-main-dessert. This is my second time here and forgot to write a review last time. After hearing that they might soon close, I came here to celebrate my wife's birthday. Luckily after talking with the owner and staff, they will stay open for another 2 years on a new lease. Whew! This place is such a hidden gem on the peninsula! And it is a bit hidden because the restaurant is within a house that is tucked into the street and not totally visible until you get into the driveway. The house is quite unique and seems to have a lot of history. Parking is super easy in their parking lot. The service and staff here are fantastic! Super friendly, accommodating and informative. I sent a question via email and got a prompt response from the owner. The dining area is not super big but the tables are spaced out nicely. They also sanitize the tables and seats after each party is done. There's an outdoor seating area as well but it is not heated at this time. We came on a Friday evening and were able to get a 6pm table 2 days ahead of time. The food was fantastic and it is not surprising why they had gotten Michelin stars before. The Indian inspired French California dishes are unique and oh sooo yummy! I ordered the 3 course menu and my wife got the 4 because she was starving when we got there. We got the following and each were deelish with the octopus (best and most tender I have ever had) and short rib (super juicy and tender) especially standing out. It would be great if they made the octopus an entree in the future. Starter: octopus Mains: short ribs and mahi mahi Dessert: panacota and olive oil cake We were stuffed by the time we were done. We took the cake to eat at home. The entree portions are bigger than expected and the chef's soup, bread (so warm and soft!) and small bites of cake at the end just added to this great culinary experience. What a treasure. This restaurant is a welcome find. From the outside, it looks like an ordinary house. The food was superb, and each plate was a piece of art. Everything was so carefully arranged to maximize the beauty and flavors of the dish. We each had the 3 course meal, and it was plenty of food. I noticed that you could also choose 4 or 5 courses. The wine pairings were reasonably priced. First course, we chose the Nashville hot "matar paneer". This was a vegetarian dish. Buttermilk-brined paneer layered with nuts and apricots, creole sauce, pole beans and crisp bread. It was absolutely delicious, and only made me want more. For the second course, we chose the Braised shortrib: coffee maple sauce, confit pearl onions, salsify cream, and goat cheese rice grits. It was the absolute perfect amount. Though I would have wanted more, this was the portion I should have had. It was just right. For the third course, we chose the Carmelized orange cheese cake: berry compote, passion fruit curd, nut tuille, and fresh berries. It was delicious, of course, and so beautiful. I appreciated that every savory plate included some kind of fresh veggie component. Bread - dense style of bread with a tight crumb. comes with very flavorful compound butter. Nice start the the meal. Nashville hot matar paneer - this is one of the most unique dishes on the menu in my opinion and it was very tasty! Almost like a sandwich of paneer over a bed of fresh beans and a only slightly spicy hot sauce. Octopus - this seemed deep fried with a very crispy crunchy exterior. The octopus had good texture and went well with the sauces Salmon crudo - this could be a whole meal and was one of my favorites. Salmon texture was on point, and loved all the little pickles pieces of fruit and veg that went with it. It's a hearty dish with all the couscous! Squab - squab is one of my favorite things and this dish was prepared very well! The sauces were spiced with what tasted like classic combinations for squab, and were excellent. Strawberry mousse - this was the most disappointing dish of the night. The mousse was quite a lurid pink color and the texture was a bit off - not quite set. The pistachios on top had gone a bit soft so didn't provide the crunch I was looking for. The green frosting probably could have been left off as well - the bright color and very sweet buttercream flavor didn't add the the dish. The cake was very dense as well. Despite the dessert not hitting the mark, I really enjoyed the dinner and the food here is just tasty! I would stick with the savory dishes and enjoy the great flavors. 3.5 Yelp Stars*** If I am being very honest about this establishment, I would have to say first of all, the posting on Yelp is very misleading! It is not a NEW American fine dining. Looking back at the reviews, it goes back as early as nine years ago. Upon arrival and trying to find this restaurant, the sign literally says Indian Cuisine. It is inside a house on the middle of a block and can easily be missed when driving on El Camino. As for prices, it is definitely not $$$$, but more like $$. Gary Danko is $$$$ and much more expensive and fancier than this place. Personally, I thought the dishes were only ok. My husband loves sauce so he enjoyed it a bit more than I did which was great since I booked this restaurant for his birthday. To be quite frank, this restaurant did not feel like a fine dining experience. My husband and I had been to a lot of fine dining restaurants ranging from less than $100 to almost $300/person. Of course, my taste for fine dining would be a bit more biased when compared to All Spices. We went to Chez TJ in Mountain View before which was also a fine dining inside a home. I was expecting this place to be similar where they grew their own organic vegetables from their garden and gave customers a garden tour after their meal or something. Nothing! The lady who seemed to be a co-owner did not even acknowledge my husband's birthday. I know she read the message because I wrote that we were coming for my husband's birthday celebration and requested a space for my baby's stroller. Right away, she said oh, yes, you were the one requesting for the stroller space. I did not expect anything extra but just a simple acknowledgement by saying happy birthday would have been nice. I asked our waiter for a birthday candle to place on the dessert. Even though we only ordered one dessert since my husband opted to get two appetizers instead, the waiter still managed to mess up our order. We ordered the creme brûlée and he gave us the pineapple cheesecake. We for sure did not order the cheesecake because I bought my husband a very fancy cheesecake for his birthday at home. It was fine since they made it pretty but what if we had allergies to pineapples or something in that dessert? That would have been bad! Plus, they charged us an extra $3 for it. Truthfully, I could not name a dish I truly enjoyed here except maybe the dessert. Even with that, I would not order that again if I had a choice. The hanger steak (supposedly a tasty cut with lots of meat flavor) gave me a very unpleasant taste. I felt shivers down my body trying to force eat it so my husband finished it for me. They charge an extra $7 for it too. So many extra fees for each item including a $5 charge for the hamachi crudo. What should had been $100 per person quickly became more because of the extra fees we got charged to get certain proteins or dessert. If they were going to charge that, then just change the prices on the menu. It seems more like a ripe-off way to charge people because the other available options were inexpensive. I mean, $3 extra for pineapple cheesecake seems ridiculous. The only reason why I gave them a 3.5 stars was because the waiters were attentive and they granted my request for a stroller space for my baby. They were also very quick. Too bad this place was very crowded, tiny, and the bathroom and interior looked run-down. Overall, I was not satisfied with my experience here. So glad it did not ruin my husband's birthday. It was definitely a record to finish four courses in about an hour with our baby sleeping through the entire meal. The parking lot has enough spaces for the restaurant so there is no parking anxiety here! I opted for the 4 course meal ($100) and did not add supplementals or wine. Four courses provides 1 app, 2 mains and 1 dessert. The meal was quite filling and they also provide complimentary bread and a small dessert at the end. I really enjoyed the red snapper main and the creme brulee dessert. For someone that cannot handle their spicy food, I was able to eat a majority of the Indian inspired food without breaking a sweat! The duck main was a tad spicy but everything else was fine. Service was pretty good. Polite, attentive and welcoming. The only thing I found wrong were some dirty utensils. This restaurant is a miss for me. While a lot of the dishes had bold flavors and nice plating, they were a bit one note, with most of the dishes being overly sweet. This was the case from the appetizers to the entrees and the desserts. With a name like All Spice, I expected more variety in flavors. I didn't really taste any Indian flavors at all. I had a new salmon dish with a ginger reduction paired with a peanut butter cream like sauce. The dish didn't seem cohesive. It would've been better if it had some acidity and if the vegetables were cut larger for textural differences. For dessert, I had an overly sweet panna cotta that was heavy in what tasted like strawberry jam. I took one bite and couldn't eat anymore since it was so rich. Not worth the price in my opinion. This was my second time visiting All Spice and twice I had a great experience. The first time was a few years back when I believe they had a Michelin star. Michelin star or not, their service is spot on. They provide you with a very personal experience. You'll get a detailed description with every meal or wine and you'll be treated with the utmost care throughout. It's clear that they want you to feel comfortable and have a good time. When our waiter sensed from our orders that myself and my partner are both vegetarian, they immediately suggested sharing some plates at no extra cost. It was nice to have that acknowledged without having to explicitly state it. Their food is well though out. The layers of flavors and variety of textures, create a unique experience. - The butternut squash soup was the winner of the night. The velvety, smooth feel contrasted perfectly with the garnish. It had a very wholesome, cozy flavor to it. Highly recommend. - The cauliflower with heirloom barbecue sauce tasted better than it sounded I guess. I've eaten many renditions of cauliflower steak that where bland or lackluster. Not this one. The "barbecue" sauce complimented it well without being overpowering. - I picked the dessert that mentioned "warm apple" because well warm apple and was a tad disappointed. My expectation was apple pie while reality was more like a sticky pudding. Tasty but there was not much relief from the overly sweet taste. While I know that unfortunately this restaurant might not be able to remain in its current location, I do want to point out how unique of an experience the old Victorian house makes it. Came during COVID and they had a nice outdoor space with space heaters to keep you warm. They offer options for 3-5 courses. For 3 courses, you can choose 1 appetizer, entree, and dessert; or substitute the dessert for another appetizer. For 4-5 courses, you can choose 2 entrees and customize the rest of the meal based on your preference. Menu changes regularly so probably won't be too helpful to describe particular dishes. One thing that sometimes felt a little bit off was trying to figure out their specific approach when designing recipes. Many of the dishes felt true to the name and I could really appreciate all the spices and Indian influence that I expected. Other dishes felt much more Western and the taste profile was bit unexpected. It isn't too say that the flavors were bad, but the entire meal didn't always feel cohesive. We got the Mediterranean style cured scallops and Black Rice arancini for starters. Both were excellent and we enjoyed them much more than the main courses. Portions for the entrees were definitely on the smaller side and I left still feeling a bit hungry (we got the 3-course), which is unfortunate given the prices. We even paid the extra supplement for the quail. I have to say what I enjoyed the most was the innovative ways they incorporated all the different spices in their sauces. I actually enjoyed those more than the protein itself. I'm not usually a dessert fan, but enjoyed both the caramelized blood orange cheesecake and mint chocolate budina (almost like a pudding). Overall, like it's name, their spice game is where they shined. The flavor development of the meat could be improved. For the price, I would like to see them increase the size of their protein in the main courses. read more

Amazing seasonal dishes, lovingly prepared and attractively plated. Excellent service. They take allergy and food sensitivities very seriously too. Homey atmosphere. Manages to be casual yet the food is special-occasion worthy. On the spendy side but worth it. read more
