Bagels are super fresh. Sometimes I just like to get a plain cheddar jalapeño bagel and eat it with nothing on it. When the bagel can stand alone on its own merit without any toppings, I'd say that's a good bagel. The people are really nice. They have breakfast sandwiches which aren't my favorite, they over cooked the egg :( my favorite thing is to get a yolk that's just a little runny, so if you like that you should request it cuz otherwise it's a well done egg. Horrible experience today. I offered to pick up breakfast here, because their food is general very good, even though they tend to break the yolk when packing a bacon egg and cheese on bagel sandwich. My wife likes hers unbroken (I guess that is called over easy). So this morning I went to get one for my wife and asked for a bacon egg and cheese on an everything bagel and not to break the yolk AND to put it into a container, not just wrap it. I was pretty descriptive. When a girl announced that my order was ready, I was handed a bag, and some guy came out of the back and grabbed the bag and said he forgot the bacon. So he took out my wifes order and left mine in the bag with me. 5 minutes later he brings the box up to me, I thank him and head home. To my surprise, when my wife opens the box, there is no bagel. The bacon egg and cheese is in the box with NO bagel. Mine of course is cold by now. The real problem starts when I go back. It is now around noon, and they close on Sundays at 12pm. The first words out of the womans mouth behind the register, who is counting out the drawer is 'We're not taking that back'. Confused, I let her know that I ordered a bacon, egg and cheese on an everything bagel but I got it without the bagel. She then proceeded to tell me that it was ordered wrong, basically accusing me for the error. Even if they misunderstood my instructions, they don't deny that I ordered a bagel, which was not in the bag at the time. I'm not sure what has changed, but the last few times that we have gotten bagels at this bagel shop, there was always some kind of problem. But this time takes the cake. We have bought bagels from All Star bagels for the last time. Someone should teach the woman who accused me of ordering wrong that the customer should come first. Beware if you are going here for the first time. Check your bag before you leave, because they'll surely give you a hard time if you have to come back. read more

These are NOT a traditional bagel that you would get at a real bagel shop. These are the Dunkin Donut style bagels. Just a SOFT baked donut shaped piece of bread. And I also can tell they add sugar to the dough, the bagel was sweet like one of those " Hawaiian Rolls". If you want a REAL bagel,.....go elsewhere. read more

I have tried so many bagel places between toms river, brick and jackson and this one by far has the best tasting bagel! Only complaint I have is the bagel could have been cooked a little longer. Every bite I took I had to then get the bagel off the back of my teeth.. it was very sticky. I will definitely give them another shot and hope it's not like that everytime. read more

I work in a doctors office who orders from here a lot and I usually get a small egg salad container and in the past couple months the amount of egg salad gets less and less so I complained because I ordered $10 worth to get it deliver and the egg salad wasn't even enough to put on my sandwich... so they said they were going to bring more when the owner got to the office with the rest of my egg salad he proceeded to say he was returning my money and that he wasn't delivering to our office anymore which doesn't matter to us because they gave lousy portions of food for the amount of money spent which we weren't planning on ordering from him ever again anyway he was rude and very unprofessional this place sucks read more

While traveling to work on 37, i noticed a new bagel shop had opened and decided to stop in and check it out. They re-did the inside it used to be a greek place. Same tables, same counter just setup for quick service. Fresh coffee made daily. Big selection of bagels, one of my favorite is the french toast bagel, have it toasted with the homemade maple butter and warmed, it's just like warm homemade french toast. Also another favorite is the jalapeno bagel, get that with cream cheese its awesome nice blend of heat and cooling cream cheese, yes have it toasted. now if you're into Lox, They have by far the best lox I have ever tasted. its just like eating fresh sashimi from a Japanese place, creamy, fresh, great smokey flavor and not too overpowering. I had brought a side container of it to work for one of my coworkers who never had fresh lox let alone fresh Sashimi. I gave him a small taste from the container while he was hesitant, he loved the smell and after his first bite he finished the rest of what I had leftover. He then asked me to bring him in a container the next day. Mike and his crew are very nice, very welcoming and eager to please. I had ordered a few times several dozen bagels from them and its always hot and fresh the day I pick them up and sliced. I also sometimes order a Pork Roll and Cheese on the Jalapeno bagel toasted, the flavors are immense and never disappointed in the outcome. To review, Get the LOX its always fresh, nice portions and just taste great. Buy eh French toast bagel, the Jalapeno bagel, and you have to try the maple butter spread. I read through some of the prior reviews to see if anyone had similar feelings about this spot. Sure enough, several other reviewers addressed the "soft"-ness of their bagels. I'm going to expound upon that a little, because that's the main point of my review. The texture of the bagels here are just off. I don't know if they're undercooking them, or their formula is incorrect, but there's something amiss. "Soft" is a good starting point to describe them. I'd further add "gooey", "sticky" and even "gummy" to the description. Like, they stick to your teeth after you take a bite. I don't claim to be Johnny Foodcritic over here, but I know that's not supposed to happen when you chomp on a bagel. Weird. Other than that though, the bagels actually have good flavor, if you can get past the strange texture. And the sandwiches were decent too. I started visiting here due to convenience of location. After a few tries with the same results, I think I'll be going elsewhere for my bagels unless in a pinch. read more

I love New Jersey bagels and All Star Bagels are the real deal in Toms River. The bagels are made daily and are soft and chewy. A bagel with cream cheese is one of my favorites and a includes a "ton of cream cheese." Well a lot if cream cheese. And you can not beat a good old fashioned bacon, egg, and cheese bagel (see photo). And not only is the coffee good, but it is hot....scalding hot....like the way coffee is supposed to be. Absolutely Horrible!!! Stopped in on a Saturday morning (just before 10), Based and Richard and Shari's reviews. Ordered a #2 (Slider) on Pumpernickel, Bacon and Egg on toasted plain, Pork Roll and Egg on toasted plain, French Toast with Maple Butter, Plain with plain cream cheese, and an unadulterated French Toast. The only thing that matched what we ordered was the Plain bagel with cream cheese. I ordered Pumpernickel because the didn't have Marble Rye. At least, what was marked Rye, clearly wasn't marbled. Just a grayish looking plain bagel. When I got my sandwich, it wasn't even pumpernickel. It was like cinnamon raisin without the raisins. I thought I was imagining things, but you can clearly smell and taste the cinnamon, plus it's sweet! It's not even the right color. As for the hash brown, I've had better from McDonalds. The outer edge was browned but it must have been sitting in some steam tray because the whole thing was soggier than the egg. The other two egg sandwiches weren't any better. Both had cheese even though the receipt clearly specified "** no cheese **". The bacon was somehow both burnt and flaccid at the same time. How do you accomplish that?? The Pork Roll and Egg arrived as a Steak Egg & Cheese. I guess they might consider steak an upgrade, but when your wife wants Pork Roll, she wants Pork Roll. Besides its not like it's steak anyway, it's wafer steak. Now the final blow, the two French Toast bagels. No French Toast in the bag. We never got the plain one, and the one with Maple Butter??? A Garlic Bagel with Maple Butter!!!!! What??? Who would even eat such a thing? Unacceptable!!!!! Before you think I'm being overly harsh. It's not like they were busy. Maybe two tables and four other customers. Manhattan bagel or Dunkin Donuts deal with more customers and have no mistakes. The place by my job in Union County has lines out the door any day of the week and would NEVER screw up like this. Don't even ask me to compare the quality of the bagels. My whole family was disappointed. My wife wanted to move back north and my daughter said the bagels and Grandma's house are better. I stopped by on a totally random trip down 37...I spotted the sign and thought "Oooh! I could totally go for a bagel!" Now, when I think of a Jersey bagel, it's crisp and a little crunchy on the outside and nice and chewy on the inside...mmmm, bagels. Unfortunately, that's not what I got here. These bagels were more bread-like than bagels...the word "fluffy" comes to mind. Almost like a Lender's bagel, but bigger. The service was nice and friendly, although a little slow considering it was an untoasted bagel with cream cheese, but that's okay. I was definitely disappointed by the bagel though, so I don't think I would go here again. read more
