For food we had the fish and chips and the regular cheese burger. The burger was 9/10! The bread was fresh the ingredients felt fresh and cooked to the temperature I asked. The fish n chips didn't disappoint for a burger spot. Overall, I would definitely come back. The big bar had plenty of seating and the cabin vibes in the main dining hall felt like home. The bartenders were excellent good place to go if you're looking for good service as they were very attentive and friendly.

I cant believe that I am actually writing a review for Ground Round. The last time that I was in…read moreone, Yelp didn't exist. So, when a good friend called and told me that there was a new one that opened in Shrewsbury, it was off to the races. I had to experience this. Service: We got seated nearly instantaneously when we got in the door and the place was already quite busy by the time that we got there. My friend got a salad of some sort with a sandwich and I got one of their signature burgers. The waitress appeared in a timely fashion, took the orders, had drinks on the table in no time, and was very attentive to any and all needs. Ambiance: It was on a Saturday during sports season, so there was a lot of noise and chaos going on, but that is always how I remembered the Ground Round. It is NOT a restaurant that you are going to read a good book in. The fact that this restaurant also had high cathedral ceilings which increased the acoustics, made it a little more unbearable for people who like quieter spots. But to me and my friend, it was not a dealbreaker. Food: After all, what were we doing there for anyways, but the food? It was very good. She enjoyed her dish, and my burger was actually one of those "skyscraper" burgers that are impossible to grip with two hands or get into your mouth for a bite. After dining at the Ground Round again, I am moderately confident that I could take a bite out of the Prudential Center if the need arose. Don't get me wrong, the burger was tasty, juicy, and done to perfection, but it was yuuuuge. Overall, if I could give the Ground Round a 1/2 a star I would make my rating of them a 4 and a 1/2 stars venue. I will definitely be back and look forward to meeting my friend there again for lunch. :) -S

I may be in the minority, but I REALLY wish there wasn't live music (often with a cover charge) nearly every single weekend night. Personally I avoid it if there's a loud band playing music I don't want to hear (and often with a cover charge on top of it). If they made live music more of a special occasion or at least a more sporadic thing, I'd be there far more frequently, spending money. I've talked to a few others who feel the same. Management, if you're reading this, please consider that live amateur music is not everybody's thing. Acoustic (background) music is one thing but having a loud band almost every single weekend night at a neighborhood bar in a tiny town is overkill. Some people just like hanging out and talking and with background music on. I dunno, just strikes me as a neighborhood bar trying to be a live music venue that is really just a neighborhood bar. Still a good spot overall!

Great people watching, and dog friendly if that's important to you. Personally, the inside would have been too dark to have lunch on a beautiful sunny day. Beer selection was good, and the menu was well rounded American fare. We split a burger & fries & it passed the test. The waitress was friendly and attentive. This restaurant fit the funky vibe of Peterborough and it's worth a stop if you're in town.
