I had to drop it one star further. The contractor has now become argumentative. Like the old sayings go, you're only as good as your last sale, or, you don't get a second chance at a first impression. While the installed panel is functioning as it should, the aftermath of this entire experience has left a very sour taste. We hired All Starz to replace our electrical panel. The new panel appears to be working fine so far, but the cleanup afterward was very disappointing. Wire, metal punch cutouts, pieces of conduit, broken stucco, and the old panel were left behind. Some, not all of the debris was placed in a cardboard box and left on the side of the house. The box was very heavy and left on the ground. After it rained the next day, the box fell apart and debris ended up scattered. I left town the day after the install and never noticed the box sitting there with all the debris and my wife only noticed it a couple weeks later, when she went to the side of the house to check on a passion fruit plant after all the heavy rain. Part of the plant was crushed and after checking our security cameras, I noticed during the electrical panel install, the electricians were putting tools and equipment on top of the plant, which damaged a portion of it. When I called to ask about removal of the debris they left behind, they offered to come back and take the items away for an additional $50. He even admitted that he would need to bring his truck to remove all the debris because it wouldn't all fit in his van. Over the years, we have had a water heater replaced, purchased new mattresses, even had some windows replaced, and every single company removed the old debris and cleaned up after themselves. For a professional electrical job of this size, basic cleanup and debris removal should be standard. This lack of pride in workmanship and basic courtesy was disappointing and makes me worry about the new install now too. -----update----- In response to the company's response....as I said, the electrical work itself is not the issue. The issue is how the job was left and the subsequent argumentative nature. All of the debris was left behind and my wife spent some time picking wire pieces and metal punch outs from the ground. Some cough debris was placed in a cardboard box that was left outdoors. I have been out of town since the panel was installed and the heavy box disintegrated in the rain and debris was scattered. I contacted the company and was told removal would cost an additional $50. I replied that the cleanup should have been part of the job but did not receive a response at all until I posted a review on yelp, at which point removal was offered in exchange if the review was deleted. This feels a little like review manipulation and makes me uncomfortable. The last communication we received from them via text was a "HA HA" laughing comment, which speaks volumes to professional character. It's such a disappointment when such a small thing as cleaning up properly could have made all the difference in the world. The continued argument and laughing response was unprofessional. read more

To replace 2 light switches (which we had parts for) and replace an EV outlet (wiring was already installed) Total $625...... I contacted Nick about a ceiling fan not working, replacing two light switches, and an EV outlet at my parents' house. He came, looked at the fan, and realized that the remote needed batteries replaced. When asked about the cost to replace the light switches, he said it would be 40 each. (We already had the parts). Then he recommended replacing the EV outlet (wiring was already present) he said to BOTH my parents that it would be $60 to replace the EV outlet plus the parts. The price should have been: -Light switches $40x2= $80 -EV outlet $60 labor+ the outlet, box, and plate cover were about $60. The total should have been $200. When we got the bill he charged us $625. When asked why the price was so high he stated there was a "$200 inspection fee". At no point was this brought up to any of us. When asked for a breakdown he stated that the price was for everything with parts and labor, no explanation. My parents paid for it thinking he had talked to me about it. I texted him asking to go over the bill he then explained his charges were for the following: -Light switches $40x2= $80 -his recommendation to replace the batteries of the remote for the ceiling fan... -EV outlet replacement $345 parts and labor -inspection fee $200. Total:$625 He then denies telling my parents it was $60 for the outlet and said he told them $345. Seriously, who in their right mind would pay $345 to replace an already existing outlet? He tried to justify the charge by saying another electrician improperly installed it because the outlet box was not screwed completely into the drywall claiming a fire hazard. So $285 to replace the EV outlet, outlet box +$200 "inspection fee"? I texted him giving him a chance to fix his pricing before writing this review but he was unwilling. He doesn't care. He took advantage of my parents because they thought he had explained his "inspection fees" to me. He might respond to this message saying he was transparent but I have the receipt he gave them and he didn't itemize the work with pricing... that was on purpose. He only then broke it down AFTER I contacted him. He took advantage of the job. Conclusion: Don't go with All Starz Electric, Nick was way too expensive, disingenuous, and calculating by changing "inspection fees", and tripling labor costs after the job is done. At the end of the day, he charged $625 to replace 2 light switches and an EV outlet for a job that should have been $200-$250. Don't be tricked. read more
