We called Anchor Electric for help with our automatic timer that had gone out and they were able to come the next day. The electrician was kind and I felt safe with him around. He found that the rains earlier in the year had tripped our electrical box and all he needed to do was to pop it back (I don't recall exactly what it was called). It took him minutes to do. Later he pulled out and replaced the indoor timer we had for our front porch and garage lighting that had blown in a citywide power outage. Unfortunately we are still having issues with the new timer and cannot figure out how to work it. He tried to set it up for us but it still doesn't work as it should. Furthermore, their pricing was exorbitantly high for the work that was done. We aren't very happy with how much we paid for work that still doesn't really work as intended. Found this company on next door and explained I wanted about 7 bulbs replaced. The bathrooms have these hard to replace bulbs that are very high otherwise we would do it ourselves. I explained all this in detailed texts and whoever responded assumed the electrical was bad and said it wasn't worth the hassle and suggested we perform electrical work. I advised I think he misunderstood as these homes were only 6 years old and all the LED bulbs were burning out. Thought the response was rude and presumptive. Anyone know a good handyman in south OC area? Truly should have gone through some of these reviews. The ones that give an honest not so great experience are given pretty bluntly aggressive attacks by the owner ... which I can relate to my experience and I was simply inquiring...prices had not even been addressed yet. @Rob .. obviously I wasn't a customer. Read the text, lol. You or whomever refused to replace 7 bulbs stating the electrical was bad. I had even explained I already replaced two but the others were too high. I needed to have old fluorescent ceiling light's replaced with LEDs. One electrician quoted $500 labor + materials that weren't included. I spoke with Anchor on the phone and they told me to buy the LED bulbs and they'd re-wire the existing fixtures to bypass the ballasts. This saved me at least $200 in materials because I didn't need to buy new light fixtures. The Anchor electricians arrived 10 minutes early and reworked the lights fast. They even had time to repair an outdoor power receptacle that hasn't worked in years. Total was $180 + $40 for the parts that I purchased at CED (also highly recommended). The Anchor team is efficient, knowledgeable, honest and polite. I will definitely call them again for electrical repairs. read more

I started using Anchor Electric a couple of years ago, and I have been very happy with the work they have done. In March of this year, I had three outdoor lights replaced with day-to-dusk lights. Alfonso did an excellent job and was very careful with removing the old ones and attaching the new ones. He also tested them and made sure they were working properly. He explained to me how to change the settings if I wanted to. After that he addressed an issue with LED lighting I had in the kitchen. One light kept going out and the previous electrical company I hired who installed the original lights were not able to fix the problem. Alfonso identified the problem and came up with a great solution. Now it's working great. A couple of weeks ago, Dave was here and installed a new bathroom light fixture. He was very courteous and knew exactly what he was doing. He carefully removed the old fixture and just as carefully installed the new one, which I love. I found Anchor through Yelp. I would not recommend them. I hired them to install two ceiling fans and a NEMA 14-50 adaptor. The adaptor is OK; as far as I know, I haven't been able to use it yet. The ceiling fan was installed in one room, the box with the old fan was left in the room, and the old remote was still screwed into the wall. In my experience, when you pay someone to remove and install something, they remove all of it, they haul away the old item, unless you request to keep it, the uninstall all parts. I had to ask the guy (Danny) to remove the old remote and ask him to remove the old fan. He brought the fan downstairs and put it in front of my front door????. The other guy then informed him that yes, they do haul away the old item. He left the new remote on the bed, with no question about whether I would like it installed on the wall. Installing the old fan took about 30 minutes, not counting having to ask him to remove all of the old parts. When it came to the charge, they attempted to charge me for an hour and a half to install the new fan. I disputed this and said it did not take him that long. I paid for an hour. There was no drama or anger; I simply said that did not take you an hour and a half; it was barely an hour. I'll pay for an hour. Were they trying to take advantage of a woman? The other fan did not come with a long enough down rod, so I needed to order that. They said they would come back and would not charge the fee to come out just the time it took to install the fan. While I wasn't happy with the service, I said OK because I didn't want to pay extra for a new person and have to find a new person. I made the appointment by calling. The appointment was accepted. Danny called the day before the appointment and canceled and said he was too busy. No attempt to reschedule. Do not book these amateurs. UPDATE - Don't you just love it when and owner comes back and blames the customer for their bad service? In Response to the owner. I was not rude nor did I blame your guys for anything. I did not have the down rod needed, my fault, I knew I would have to reschedule. Only one ceiling fan can be installed at a time, so there was no delay on my part. Is it rude to call out an overcharge? Apparently it is rude to you and your team if a woman stands up for herself saying she thinks charging and hour and a half for something that took 40 minutes is not acceptable. There was no yelling no berating, just saying I am not okay with paying more than the time that was used. AND I have never used Anchor Electric before and I never will again. read more

We asked for an inside 240 electric plug be moved outside for electric vehicle use. Simple request. Mistakenly, I did not carefully check their work when performed. Instead, to make their clearly defined task simpler, this company disconnected our air conditioner and used that power for the electric vehicle plug. We rarely use our air conditioner, and travelled in the hot season the last two years, realizing the error made by Anchor two years later. Instead of working with us to rectify their error, Rob accused us of having an other electrician perform the work cutting off our air conditioner, despite having no incentive to do so or any other plausible explanation. He quickly got angry throwing around crazy accusations when there was no other explanation than Anchor's mistake. Rob does not communicate in a professional manner quickly escalated to anger using baseless accusations and does not take responsibility for his companies mistakes or errors. HOME OWNER BEWARE!!! Rob seems very friendly and accommodating when you first meet him but watch out! When we began the job, his guys came out and one of his workers was very nice and respectful while the other had an attitude right off the bat. After the first day, I received a call that I was being charged an extra $180 ($90 per hour) for moving some canned lights over on a high ceiling one too many times for his liking and took up too much of his teams time which was no where near 2 hours. When I informed him I was not paying him another penny other than what was agreed upon on the invoice, he thought he could raise his voice and try and intimidate me. Once this occurred, I immediately informed him that he was fired and told him to get his crew out of the house. Two days later, I received an invoice from Rob with prices that we inflated when compared to the initial proposal. The invoice was charging $70/ recessed light and the invoice was reflecting $75/ light (ridiculous right?). On top of that, his team left 6-8 pieces of tape on a 16ft ceiling which I was unable to remove and smudge marks all over the ceiling as well. When the tape and ceiling were finally cleaned a week later, we then proceeded to issue payment for the items that were completed before he was fired from the job at the price that was initially agreed upon. Don't let this scum bag intimidate you or over charge you if you let him in the door (which I HIGHLY recommend you don't) and never pay him with a credit card (which he kept pushing us to do)! I could only imagine what he would've charged on the card. read more
