Allegro Hearth Bakery sits on Murray Avenue, one of the main business places for Squirrel Hill Residents. When I lived here I hadn't gone to this place but decided to check it out now that I was a tourist. It was a good option as my wife is vegan. We had the seitan bacon melt sandwich with the oat cheese. Took about 15 minutes, so we ended up dumpster diving for records at Jerry's doing that time. I would say the sandwich was really filling and seitan well seasoned and juicy. There is fresh bread available to purchase and, it's a nice corner spot. It's a more pick up and go place. But, it was such a nice day that we ate outside. I would give 4.5 stars, but round it to 5. For vegetarians/vegans- definitely a place to check out. I think it's worth it. We didn't get bread so can't comment on that part. For fresh bread, I usually would go to 5 Points in Point Breeze.

This is a hidden gem in squrriel hill. This is a grab-n-go bakery with no seating or tables inside. Once you walk in, you are greeted with the sweet smell of pastries and breed. We tried their seasonal hot crossed buns and rugelach. I was not a big fan of the pastries that I got since they were a bit spice heavy but that's just according to my taste. However, I would've love to try their other pastries. Their seitan melt was amazing and so well flavored but I wish their bread was a bit more toasted. I would definitely want to come back to try other pastries and sandwiches.

Take-out only vegan bakery, but wow, it doesn't matter if you're vegan or not, everything here is just so yummy! The pastries are so pretty and constantly changing it up. But, the sandwiches, esp the seitan melt, were so delicious. The flavors, the pairings, and of course, their bread is top tier! One of my favorite spots in Squirrel Hill, worth waiting in line for, do not miss out!

Oh, I so wish to have them where I live! Such an amazing vegan bakery! I didn't had a chance to try any of their sandwiches, or breads as we were traveling, but got other pastries. The cruffin was huge and delicious, crunchy and sweet from the cinnamon sugar. Apple galette perfectly baked and the pistachio tahini cookie the best cookie I've had. Even if you're not vegan or plant based, I highly recommend to give them a try.

Such a cute bakery with so many amazing baked good options! Which made it hard to choose. I came here because I heard they had the best cinnamon - I can confirm, it was amazing! Not like your normal cinnamon roll, it was flakey like a croissant with the perfect combination of cinnamon & icing. 10/10 recommend! Also tried the blueberry danish, it was good. Not very sweet which was okay, but could have used an icing drizzle or something to make it better. The staff had great recommendations, I so wish I could have tried many more options!

What a cute little vegan spot in town! Love their crispy croissants that I can't believe are vegan! They don't use butter so it actually doesn't feel as heavy as a regular croissant. Their baguettes look really cute and delicious too. The sandwiches were really good. Love that they serve redstart coffee here. Staff were nice but I wish there was some seating in here!

This bakery has some of the best breads and sweet treats. Everything is vegan, Service is a bit slow as you would have to line up and wait but it's worth it. I have tried their multigrain sourdough and cookies and some other stuff. everything is on point. It's a small shop though with compact space And waiting can be challenging sometimes in cold.

We came in as we had heard great things about the bakery. Happy that sandwiches were still left when we arrived. Staff was friendly and the space is what I would expect of a local bakery. Ordering was easy and the sandwiches came out fast. We split a mushroom melt and seitan sandwich. Both were amazing.

Ordered pick up from this location. We ordered the seitan steak sandwich and the tofu sandwich. The seitan sandwich was a little too tomatoey for me. I really liked the freshness of the tofu sandwich. Both sandwiches used sourdough bread, the bread was soft and fresh. If I would come back I would get the tofu sandwich again. Pick up was easy, I was albe to find parking right out front. There were a few people waiting when I got inside, but they were really quick.

Lovely little plant based bakery, and they even have some savory items, like sandwiches. They also have gluten free items, and baked goods that meet a lot of different dietary restrictions. I got to try their chocolate chip cookie and cinnamon cruffin. They were both quite good. The cruffin was more flakey and a bit less buttery than usual. You could just ever so slightly tell it's plant based. Soft on the inside and has a nice crunch on the outside. A nice coating of sugar, and not bad. Reasonable price and portion. The chocolate chip cookie was good as well. Very large portion for the price! Tasty, rich chocolate that's not too sweet. A nice saltiness on top. Pretty good. All in all, this is a very nice bakery, especially for those with specific restrictions. I enjoyed both the cruffin and the cookie.

Breakfast sandwich and Seitan Melt Amazing

AMAZING everything. Hearty sandwiches (no skimping here), fresh delicious bread, bomb cookies, and a great selection of grab and go with the best vegan cheeses I've ever had and that mushroom walnut dip???? Heavenly. Everything I've tried here became my favorite of its kind and all vegan! Pls never change. PS. PLS PLS PLS START OFFERING ALL THE GRAB AND GO ITEMS ON THE UBER EATS MENU. I so badly want to add the cheeses and mushroom dip to my order, but only the hummus is available to add there

A calming presence in the storm, a place to caffeinate that made my day when my power was out! Happy to stumble upon Allegro for a unique and delicious breakfast sandwich + coffee while trying to find something to eat the morning after the big storm here. Super friendly staff and amazing sandwich. Loooved the pickles and red onions. Also A+ indie rock tunes while you wait

    Seitan Melt

The staff is always so friendly. They greet you with a smile and make sure you're being attended. I normally don't go for vegan spots but I decided to get the seitan melt one day and the flavor on it is so outstanding. You do have to wait 10-15 minutes because they make it fresh on demand. It is now my go to. The cinnamon roll is a cross between a flaky buttery croissant and a cinnamon roll. Nothing out there competes with it! And all their goods are sourdough and organic which is a huge plus for me. I always look forward to it now.

Fantastic vibe in there as well, cool lighting (although something from up above kept falling). It's a highly acclaimed place for a reason. I got to try their beet soup (borscht), tea, potato pancake, and rice pudding dessert. The menu changes decently consistently I believe, and I did visit a little while ago, for notice. The food was very tasty. Huge potato pancake that was cooked perfectly with a nice topping of what I can only describe as vegan sour cream and some sort of very flavorful vegetables. I quite liked it, surprisingly tasty and creamy topping. Now the borscht, which I tend to be picky with, was just okay. The number one detractor for the borscht was the salt level. The food is just far, far too salty (the pancake was pretty salty too). Other than that, quite good. Love the side of rye. The dessert was very good. Surprisingly light. Came with a little caramelized baked fruit on top (apple/pear, something like that). Rice was reasonably creamy and very flavorful. So good! All in all, a nice spot for a nice dinner. Especially great for vegans. However, the food did taste too salty for my liking.

My date ordered the Buffalo Cauliflower, and it was definitely hot, but good. For dinner, I ordered the Black Bean Bowl, which was a rice bowl packed with black beans, grilled veggies, and corn with a cream sauce, but that is not quite what I got. It was rice and beans, mixed, corn with no cream sauce, broccoli, and two plantains. The rice was not too savory, the broccoli was a bit bland and there was no cream sauce on the corn....sad face. Our waiter was not super friendly and didn't offer to give us napkins or anything when our wobbly table caused our drinks to splash all over the place. The cook served our chicken with a big smile and happy interaction and we really loved his personality. The bartender also stopped by to bus our table and he was very pleasant as well. We enjoyed the perfectly fried small plate cauliflower with the plum sauce and the fried cheese/garlic wonton bites with the sriracha mayo spicy dipping sauce. The fried chicken breast on the large plate was slightly overcooked with a maple gochuchang sauce that was very bland. It would have been great to have some side acidic or fresh vegetable options like Kimchi or something. Maybe we tried the wrong dishes and there are other not fried things that are delicious? The dirty martini cocktail was just so-so, not really much flavor at all, but the mojito was very good and refreshing. It's probably a good late-night place for a bite and drink.

So, actually a guy at the information booth was eating something from here and I asked him where he got it from because it looked very good and he recommended them to me. So we headed their way. Tbh: Every place that we wanted to eat at had a line 25-50 deep and we were super hungry and their line was only like 5-7 people deep which was a blessing. First off, the service in general was kind of crappy, but I understand as it was a hot and very busy day and from what they told my gf at the time they were getting low on food as well and only had a couple items that were left from the menu. After deciding what we wanted which was one of three things my gf at the time ordered us the Mac and Cheese and a container of ranch to take home while I looked for a place for us to eat. So after they handed her our food we headed over to an area with tables and chairs to eat the Mac and Cheese. I must say we both thoroughly enjoyed every single bit of it and my gf at the time isn't even vegan. So that says a lot! I highly recommended it :) FYI: The person who took her order also forgot to give her the container of ranch she paid for. I wasn't made aware that she purchased it until afterwards because my gf at the time wanted to surprise me but they didn't give her a receipt so she had no proof. Oh well, you live and learn, sadly! The vibe on this day was on point so we let the little things go in regards to the crappy service and the shorting us of an overpriced container of ranch fall to the wayside and continued on with our wonderful day, smiling and enjoying the amazing festival and area. If I decide to stop by your food trailer again this year at the festival or whenever I am somewhere you are posted up in front of, I hope you make up for your mistakes from last year because that's the right thing to do.
