These shoes used to be great. Truly the best shoe you could purchase, but in the past fifteen years their quality has dropped exponentially compared to their ever rising prices. My husband was looking for good, durable, and comfortable shoes for our wedding and this place has been recommended to us by many people. When we first call the store, we were told to make an appointment 'cause it can get busy. Luckily, when we came on a Friday afternoon it wasn't busy at all. We were greeted and helped by Caleb, he was super nice and knowledgeable! My husband was looking for wide shoes since he has wide feet. Caleb gave my husband great advice on how to break the shoes in and keep it in good form. He definitely took good care of us! We would recommend this place for wedding shoes, if your budget allows... we spent about $400 for the shoes. It only took a few days for my husband to break the shoes in and his feet didn't hurt at all during the wedding. Definitely a HUGE plus! read more

I initially bought a pair of Fifth Avenue from Allen Edmonds online during the New Years Sale. I haven't bought a pair of dress shoes in a while so I didn't know the correct sizing and bought a shoe that was too long. I initially sized down doing a return and buying again which was a hassle that I think Allen Edmonds could improve on given Amazon and other big name retailers convenience level. Unfortunately, this exchanged pair I got was much too tight. I decided it was better off to take a trip up to Walnut Creek to get appropriately fitted rather than go through another return-exchange process online. Upon entering the store, I was greeted by Caleb Anderson. He noticed that I was holding the box of shoes and inferred that I was either looking for an exchange or return. I wanted to first get my feet measured and then try on a few of their Park or Fifth Avenue to get a feel on what it would be like to walk in them. After measuring, Caleb suggested that I was a size 10 EEE but went ahead and grabbed a size 10.5 and 10 EEE. Shoes were quickly laced up and slipped on my feet. As I was walking around in the 10.5, Caleb was efficient and lacing up the size 10 pair. I mentioned there was a bit of heel slippage that I was concerned with in which Caleb reassured that the size 10 is the perfect fit. We quickly swapped shoes and, viola, Caleb was spot on. The shoes were nice and snug but not too tight. Once I got my sizing, we went with the exchange process. Caleb quickly found my account with Allen Edmonds made the exchange. I mention that if I could retain my promotional discount pricing and Caleb overrode the pricing saving me the need to make a phone call to their support center. Overall, the entire process took less than 30 minutes. read more

I came in to return two pairs of Park Avenues that I purchased online. I noticed the website had some Fifth Avenues, with Dainite soles were on sale and were cheaper than the Park Avenues with the regular leather soles. I called, and the employee at Allen Edmonds said he would be happy to accept my online return in-store. I arrived at the store in Walnut Creek, and was greeted by Caleb Anderson. Caleb gave me great advice as to which shoes and colors I should buy with the different colored suits I had just purchased. I ended up leaving with two pairs of Fifth Avenues in black and Dark Chili, at one size width wider than I originally bought. Caleb also honored the same sale price the online store gave to me. Caleb advised me both pairs of shoes were already made, and were able to be shipped to my house for free. I received the shipping number not too long after I placed the order. If you are debating whether to buy online or in-store, going physically to this location and getting advice from staff, specifically Caleb, is worth it! read more

I came into the store because my nephew was buying some boots and I never experienced any worse customer service. I walked up and was looking at the boots that he was trying on and the older gentleman that was helping him with the size didn't acknowledge me or even greet me. I get that he was assisting a customer but it doesn't hurt to say hello or welcome to the store. Since this brand is sold at other retailers, next time I'm in the market for a pair. I will gladly head to the store down the plaza to purchase that has much better customer service. Hopefully, the owner sees some of these negative reviews and speaks to his employees regarding this issue because it's not a good business practice. read more

I've been here multiple times and noticed that some don't entertain you or greet you if it looks like you aren't buying something. Horrible customer service, right? Well, I still came here a few times and purchased shoes. However my last purchase here was the last straw. I usually like to give credit to the person (Moises) that helps me since it seems like they go by number of sales a person makes. So instead of coming in and getting sized and then ordering online at home, I let them do it. I explicitly asked and was told that my order will be 2 Day shipping but come 3 days later, still no shipment. The people at the store when I called in supposedly made up an excuse that FedEx was "holding" my package and was located in Hayward, CA. I eventually asked for the tracking number myself and found that the order was done with economy shipping and was still in Minnesota! What peeved me the most is that they lied and blamed FedEx when I can clearly see that it was them that made the mistake. What kind of customer service is that if they can't even admit their mistake and would rather lie to customers? This will probably be my last time here at this specific store because of their service. read more

The crew in the Walnut Creek store could not have been more accommodating. Moises handled the original transaction. The Fifth Avenue (?) shoe I liked for my son was on sale for half price, plus there was an extra 20% off the sale price, but they did not have my son's size. Moises offered to special order his correct size from the factory and then had it express shipped to my home at no charge. It arrived in plenty of time for the holidays, my son loved the shoe, but wasn't sure if the D width was a tad wide or not (length was good). The day after Christmas I called the store and spoke to Cameron. He offered to have a C width "crafted" at the factory since this width was no longer going to be an in stock width. Once again, the shoes were shipped at no charge to me moreover fully refundable if the size didn't work out. This pair fit my son great. I was very impressed that Allen Edmonds would treat any customer, let alone a big reduction sale customer, in such an extraordinary manner. Bought a pair online during covid shutdown, and it had some "staining" on the leather. Went in after the store reopened and their only employee, Jon, who was the manager, was super accommodating and took care of everything. Returned the blemished pair, got a new one ordered asap, and made sure I was comfortable with him exchanging everything out. For shoes at this price range this is how you expect the service to be. Super duper expensive, but I bought a very conservative pair of shoes 27 years ago and wore it 3-4 times a week. I'm still wearing them. If you like a timeless style, it's an investment. Waited until they had a sale, and I went to their Walnut Creek store to pick up a new pair. I buy one every 27 years whether I need one or not. Ended up buying a second pair (more casual style). I came here because my husband always complains about his shoes. This brand came highly recommended as being great and probably a problem solver! Well, they were right. My husband has a wide foot so he was measured for an exact size, and fit. They brought in every shoe he liked in his color and size for him to pick. We ended up buying 4 pairs, and he loves them. Worth the money! A few weeks ago I walked in and told them he needed some summer shoes, and that I like the " boat shoes" and which colors. We got a phone call a week later stating the shoes were in for him to try on. Service!!!! My husband went in, and left with a beautiful summer shoe, which he enjoyed on our recent vacation. Worst experience ever! 6 pairs bought here... never again! The sales person was absolutely useless and completely rude

Handcrafted shoes come with their own quirks. Have not been able to find a comfortable pair of shoes from the store yet after 3 separate tries. Store closes earlier than 9pm. I suggest getting there no later than 8:30pm. Jay and Erika (hopefully I spelled her name correctly) are great. They are attentive and work with you no matter the questions or concerns. Other staff I have interacted with caused me to feel like I am being a burden on them. Weird. At 400 bucks a pair, one would think the sales reps would be more helpful. Update- after returning the shoes they refunded me the on sale price not the actual paid price. Luckily I caught this as it was 150 dollar difference. Is this a mistake? fraud? Incompetence? I like to say I received excellent customer service from Ericka and Jay in buying some Cavanaugh loafers and three pairs of socks. These loafers are a couple notches above the Bass and Cole Haan loafers. Allen Edmonds shoes cost probably a third more then these brands but definitely worth it. This store has a large selection and inventory, so if you have that event and you need some stylish shoes, this is the place to go. The socks were very stylish and I have not seen others like it. When you wear your stylish wing tips and loafers, the socks make your shoes and pants look fantastic. Don't forget to purchase a matching belt. So glad that an AE store has opened in the East Bay. I've made several stops by this store because I always swing by Walnut Creek Westfield on weekends. Jay is the General Manager at this location. I've bought two pairs of Oxford shoes from him, and he's always provided excellent customer service. He definitely knows a lot about AE shoes, so if you have any questions regarding sizing or styles, he's definitely the guy to go to. FYI: It's normal for a pair of Allen Edmonds shoes to go for $300-400 on average. If you're looking for a "cheap" pair of dress shoes, this is definitely the wrong place to be looking. read more

One of my favorite locations! I have really weird feet so finding shoes that fit my feet isn't easy. I have friends who live here so I quite frequently visit, and whenever I do I try to stop by. This last Sunday I stopped by to find a pair of summer sneakers, and SAM was able to help me find the perfect shoe. I was blown away by how great his customer service was, he made sure he found me something that was the perfect fit! Not only was the shoe super comfortable and made with this really nice suede, but their sale made the shoe super affordable. One of the best shoe buying experiences I've had. I've never had much luck in finding a comfortable pair of shoes for work. I've tried numerous brands and it always seemed like I was looking for another pair after a year. Cameron A. was extremely helpful in explaining the different lasts, the different fits, and really taking the time to work with me in finding the perfect size and width. I can't thank him enough as I finally feel like I've found the right fitting shoes. He was very professional, patient, knowledgeable, and overall just a nice person. Great experience overall. Really lived up to the brand. Went in looking to buy a pair of shoes and walked out with two pairs, a matching belt, and shoe trees. I purchased a pair of Strand shoes in June for my late July wedding. I saved the first wear for my wedding and have since worn them twice for a total of three times. I just noticed the heel is separating from the sole on both shoes. I took the shoes in to the store today and the Walnut Creek store manager, Jay Stratton, told me this could be happening because of how I walk or because the shoe is defective, both unacceptable reasons given the shoes costs over $300. He said he could only send the shoes in to be fixed, which would take three weeks. I asked if I could have them exchanged for a new pair since I do not feel like having a defective pair of shoes fixed and given the cost and short amount of time I had the shoes. He said he could not and my only option was to have the store send the shoes in to be fixed. Allen Edmonds prides themselves in their shoe quality and for this to happen to a shoes after only three wears is unacceptable. If the shoe is defective, as the manager admitted might be an option, then they should exchange for a new pair, not send in for repair, especially given the cost of the shoe. In addition to this, the store manager was very condescending and flip about the situation. My suggestion is to shop at the San Francisco stores, my experience there has been much better. read more

Excellent store with great selection. I have 7 pairs of shoes/boots by AE in my shoe closet out of a dozen , some over a decade and still all of them in excellent condition with proper maintenance. The shoes are predictable in fit and finish. Shoes are extremely reasonably priced for the quality and build of the shoes and AE will refurbish your shoe for a third of a new pair. Jay is extremely knowledgeable, and friendly, the store is defiantly a good asset to downtown businesses. read more

Great shoes, not very good customer service. I was basically treated as though it was bothersome that I entered the shop to purchase $400 worth of product. Erika showed little interest in helping me even though I knew what I wanted. Order wasn't in stock and had to be shipped. Called the next day to find out status and was again treated as though I was out of line to even dare call and ask. If one possesses neither customer service skills nor an interest in serving customers how about another line of work especially when the products being sold run in the range of $200-400. read more

I read great things about Allen Edmonds online so I went in during their anniversary sale to look at the different styles in person. Sam and Cameron were extremely knowledgeable and friendly! They explained what the different styles and colors are most appropriate for and helped me narrow down my search. I tried on several different styles and a couple days later I went back and picked up a pair of the Higgins Mill boots. I have been a loyal Allen Edmonds customer for many, many years and I own 5 pair at the moment. Their American made shoes are without a doubt the most comfortable shoes that I have ever worn. I want to purchase a few more pair and did not purchase them by mail order but decided to wait or the new Walnut Creek store to open. I visited the store yesterday and was very unimpressed not only with the selection on display but with the staff. The two pair of shoes that I am expressly interested in were not on display. I was unable to have the chance to ask a sales person if these two styles were "maybe" in the stock room and not on display for some reason because they were behind the counter ( three of them ) visiting with each other , while one occasionally left behind the counter to help someone in the dressing room area purchasing a shirt.
