They are fantastic! Food and service is excellent. Contrary to a prior review which was very derogatory to senior citizens, it is old school in which they allow their customers to enjoy their meals, take their time, socialize with other patrons and staff, and a welcoming comfortable place to be. In the rush rush world we live in it is fantastic that there is still a place, Allen's Corner, that you can enjoy the food, socialize, and a very comfortable to dine alone! A little diner where you feel like home. I had a bacon and cheese omelet and while I can't explain why -- it was really good! The omelette was more well done than I normally see and maybe that was the reason, but not sure why it was so good! Get the potatoes well done on the side and the coffee was good. read more

Simple, family-owned diner. We've been here for breakfast several times & it's really good. They use real butter (which is a nice switch from the butter-flavored oil many diners seem to favor) & their desserts are brought in from Swiss Maid Bakery. The hash browns are super good (believe you can get them with or without onions) and it looked like everyone was ordering biscuits & gravy (will need to try next time) Service is quick & friendly. Love this establishment! Never had a bad meal from here. The small family feel is something that is rare to find. It's like eating from your grandmas kitchen, the food is always so fresh and delicious. All of the staff are super friendly and polite as well. Since the reopening in December 2014, the restaurant is as great as it always was, and maybe even better, if thats even possible. I wish the young ladies all the best as they really try hard to please. The prices are fair and the food it always great. I think they got a new exhaust fan as I no longer smell liKe onions when I leave. When I used to get back home after breakfast, everyone used to say, been at allens again? I understand that the sign said seat yourself, but it looked very full and I was unable to tell if there was an open spot left at the counter. There was one waitress working the tables and one person behind the counter, both of them walked past me at least three times, made eye contact but made no effort to welcome me let alone smile. I just left...ended up going to rose garden in downtown Hampshire. Greeted right away and definitely felt immensely more welcome. read more

I am going to make this short and sweet. You will not find biscuits and gravy any better than these this side of the Mason, Dixon Line. Not only is the food good but their Kona blend coffee is on a par with the coffee specialty shops. As far as service, efficient and friendly, I will go as far as to say exceptional. Well, they might have gotten a much higher rating from me except for the fact they allow people to sit there, drink coffee, read a paper basically BS for several hours in the morning and others have to wait for seating. Breakfast is good, and haven't eaten there any other time, because they allow same old people every day take up space while others wait. If they limited the old farts in the morning hording the corner to two cups of coffee and then shag them out, the waitresses would turn more tables and make more $$. So would the owner. After two cups, cut the off. I say the old farts need to have better manners by eating, and moving on with their day so others can get seated and get on with their day, too. read more

Stopped in on our way to Wisconsin. We got off of I90 only to find fast food, so I checked Yelp and found this awesome diner! Located a few minutes from the highway in the middle of farm country, it's a cozy place with great atmosphere and super friendly staff. They had a high chair for my 8 month old son, and he happily munched on some puffs and oatmeal while my husband and I enjoyed our breakfast. The food was great and came out so fast!! My husband got the chorizo burrito special and I got the Denver omelette. Both came with yummy onion hash browns. Coffee was refilled before it had a chance to get cold which my husband greatly appreciated! Skip the fast food and go to Allen's Corner!! read more

Walked in with my wife and daughter and learned that racism is in full bloom there. Between the staff and other customers they definitely didn't like a mixed race family there. Finally, after moving to the area over a year ago we found this little diner. We've been looking for a good breakfast nook. Quaint & country, this place is it. Delish. We had the basics - eggs, sausage, etc. The hash browns with onions are so yummy. Pancakes were perfect. Folks were friendly and the service was great. We'll be back for sure. I was excited to go to this "hole in the wall" hidden gem. Unfortunately it wasn't as it seemed based on the long wait. We went in to get on the list and the workers (owners) saw us and didn't say anything for about 5 minutes. We waited and were seated and the wait continued. We had to ask for water. The cups were dirty. Out food took forever and 3 other groups that ordered after us got served first. They said our french toast was coming and it showed up after we finished eating. Even though it was on the counter ready and they served others first. The french toast was the only good part of breakfast. Poor service. Poor food. Good prices. My husband and I went here for breakfast a few months ago for the first time. It an incredibly small place and tight., the good thing is that your neighbors are nice to you. The service was very quick and friendly. Our food was so good. They have the best white gravy, so close from the gravy I grew up on while in Texas!
